Shoji screen

Abstract

The item to which this design relates is a shoji screen with a leaf spring attached to the top surface of the upper rail. In this design, as shown in Reference Figure 1, which shows the state of use, the leaf spring deforms in response to changes in the height of the lintel and threshold caused by the inclination of the building. This prevents the item from falling off the lintel and threshold, and allows for smooth opening and closing. The leaf spring is removable, and can be replaced with a leaf spring of a different length to match the deformation of the lintel and threshold caused by aging, as shown in Reference Figure 2, which shows the state of use.
