Abstract

This medical connector, commonly known as a Luer connector, is used, for example, as follows: A medical syringe is connected to a swabbable needleless valve at the upper end of the connector, which has a slit, and the lower end of the connector is connected to the lumen of a catheter. The needleless valve is designed to minimize backflow when the syringe is removed (neutral displacement).
