Germination cover

Abstract

This article contains a germination area that holds a plant seed inserted in the center of a highly water-permeable biodegradable fiber material, and a cover that covers the germination area with biodegradable pulp around it. Furthermore, on both the top and bottom surfaces of the cover, multiple slits are formed radially, overlapping the seeds on the same vertical line, with the slits at the center. These slits promote water absorption within the germination area through the slits when water is poured in from outside the cover, and allow the germinated sprouts and roots to push up the cover through the slits and protrude to the outside. Furthermore, because the germination cover is made of biodegradable material, it can decompose into the soil together with the germination area after planting, returning to the natural environment. The purpose of the cover, which covers the germination area, is to isolate the area from the outside to a certain extent, not only helping to retain water in the germination area after watering, but also keeping it warm and preventing pests, and the incisions centered on the slits on both the top and bottom surfaces are flexible due to the soft pulp fiber material, so as not to hinder the growth of sprouts and roots during germination, allowing plants to easily penetrate the cover. Depending on the application, the cover may be formed into a circle with a diameter of 30 to 300 mm or a square with sides of 30 to 300 mm and a height of 10 to 100 mm, and the minimum size is extremely small and lightweight, weighing approximately 3 to 30 g before watering. Therefore, in addition to being used alone, the cover can also be attached to any other molded object. For example, by using it on the bottom plate of a cosmetic box, packaging container, or pulp molded container made from the same pulp fiber material, users can easily use it in their daily lives, experience plant growth on a daily basis, contribute to reducing container waste by returning to nature, and become a germination cover that can also be used as a means to educate people about environmental conservation and the promotion of greenery.
