Automatic opening and closing lid for medical waste containers

Abstract

The product of this design is an automatic opening / closing lid that can be attached to a standard container for medical waste disposal. The container is sealed with a dedicated lid, requiring the lid to be opened manually each time waste is placed inside. Furthermore, since the lid is used for incineration, it is difficult to install an automatic opening / closing device. This product consists of a flat top plate placed over the top of the container after the lid has been removed, with a commercially available automatic trash can opening / closing unit embedded in the center of the top plate, allowing the top surface of the unit to protrude slightly. The top plate has four bent edges to prevent it from slipping off the container. When the container is full, the product is removed and the dedicated lid is placed over it for disposal. Currently, foot-operated lid opening / closing devices are widely used in medical applications, but they are bulky, difficult to operate, and difficult to use. This product includes a hook that can be attached to such devices. Because foot-operated lid opening devices have the function of fixing the container at a convenient height, adding an automatic opening / closing lid would increase convenience.
