Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a dosing device for supplying infusion products.

[0002] In particular, the device according to the invention can be used in an automatic machine for forming infusion packets for the measured supply of infusion products such as tea, coffee, chamomile, etc. Although this specification explicitly refers to an automatic machine for forming infusion packets, it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention.

Background Art

[0003] An automatic machine designed to make infusion packets such as filter bags, filter paper pods, etc. comprises a plurality of operating stations (lines that can extend horizontally or vertically depending on the type of machine) arranged (usually) continuously along the production line of the automatic machine.

[0004] Each automatic machine also comprises a supply station designed to supply the dose of the infusion product onto a device (e.g. a continuous belt) for supplying the filter material used to make the packet.

[0005] The solution known from patent document WO2018162998 (with the same applicant as the present invention) shows a supply station integrated into the machine and used to dose the product according to a series of subsets of the product.

[0006] This solution comprises a dosing device with a tower or hopper (having a vertical deployment axis) for containing loose infusion products.

[0007] A plurality of tubular channels for supplying the product are connected to and communicate with the containing tower, are arranged radially around the tower and project from the tower.

[0008] Each tubular channel, thanks to rotation around its associated axis, picks up the product from the storage tower and releases a predetermined amount into the corresponding container below through its associated free outer end.

[0009] Each container for receiving the decoction product from the channel has a wall that can move between a closed position and an open position for discharging a programmed amount of product.

[0010] The container is associated with a movable (rotating) platform located beneath the channel.

[0011] Furthermore, the platform carries each container to accommodate programmed doses that fall by weight from the two channels to two different supply locations, each containing a different quantity of product, under at least two dosing channels.

[0012] Next, the container is again transported from the platform to a zone for discharging the programmed dose of decocted product.

[0013] The device also includes multiple weighing elements positioned along a path followed by a platform for controlling the weight of the product supplied from the channel into each container.

[0014] In the first solution, multiple weighing elements can be placed directly beneath each movable container and on the movable platform.

[0015] In the second solution, multiple weighing elements are placed on a fixed platform superimposed on a movable platform. This fixed platform also supports a second set of containers for receiving portions of product falling from corresponding tubular channels. In this case, product portion segments are weighed in the fixed containers and then released into containers on the movable platform.

[0016] The system configured in this way is monitored by a tubular supply channel, multiple weighing elements, and a control unit connected to the platform, in order to control the amount of product supplied to the container by the channel.

[0017] This solution offers significant improvements in overall dimensions, dosing speed, and operational reliability compared to conventional solutions for dosing devices, but it also has several drawbacks.

[0018] The dosing apparatus must perform segmented dosing and the associated control of the weight (usually a few grams) of the product supplied in a dynamic manner through several different steps.

[0019] This dynamic system presents problems with actual accuracy in controlling weight at various positions taken by the load cell and container, which must detect the weight of the product received in the container each time during the acceleration and deceleration of the moving parts.

[0020] Furthermore, since the dosing device is directly applied to the machine that forms the packaging of the decoction product, it is affected by vibrations generated by the machine during its operation, which can increase the precision problem for controlling the weight, albeit to a very limited degree.

[0021] Furthermore, each actual weighing segment obtained must be sent to a control unit using electrical signals that store and process data items. These data items must be added to preceding or succeeding weighing data to verify the exact quantity supplied.

[0022] Therefore, this system can generate small dosing errors (and in a chained manner) precisely due to dosing segmentation and movement problems of various components. These errors need to be processed by the control unit, and as a result, the dosing channel needs to be recalibrated (with the channel rotation time parameter and rotation speed parameter).

[0023] In this case, the dosing segment system makes the activation of calibration quite slow, resulting in incorrect dosing or external parameters that become unusable during subsequent product packaging.

Summary of the Invention

[0024] An object of the present invention is to provide a dosing device for supplying decocted products that overcomes the above-mentioned drawbacks.

[0025] More specifically, an object of the present invention is to provide a dosing device for supplying decocted products that can perform product dosing accurately and with high productivity per unit time.

[0026] A further object of the present invention is to provide a dosing device for supplying decocted products that can self - adapt correct dosing in a quick and effective manner using a size - reduced and weight - control system at all times.

[0027] These objects are fully achieved by a dosing device for supplying decocted products according to the present invention, as characterized in the appended claims.

Brief Description of the Drawings

[0028] These features and other features of the present invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description of the preferred non - limiting embodiments of the present invention, with reference to the accompanying drawings. [Figure 1]Shown is a perspective view from above of a dosing device for supplying an extract product according to the invention, with some parts cut away to better illustrate other parts. [Figure 2] Shown is a front view of the dosing device of FIG. 1, with some parts in cross section to better illustrate other parts. [Figure 3] It is an enlarged view of FIG. 2.

Mode for Carrying Out the Invention

[0029] With respect to the accompanying drawings, particularly FIGS. 1 and 2, the dosing device according to the invention, which is labeled 100 as a whole, is used to supply an extract product for forming filter bags with an automatic machine (not shown).

[0030] More specifically, without limiting the present invention, this dosing device 100 is used to form a dose of a "high-quality" extract product, that is, a product formed by components in leaf form or granular form of large dimensions and which needs to be treated more carefully compared to products in powder form or in any case of small size.

[0031] This dosing device 100 includes a tower 1 for accommodating non-uniform extract products.

[0032] The non-uniform products are supplied by a transport and dropping unit (for example, a hopper and a supply surface (not shown)).

[0033] The dosing device 100 also includes a plurality of tubular channels 2 for supplying the extract product, which are connected to and communicate with the storage tower 1 and project from the storage tower 1.

[0034] Note that each channel 2 of the plurality of channels is operated by a corresponding operating device 13 configured to operate the channel 2 to release a predetermined amount of product from the associated free end.

[0035] Therefore, each tubular channel 2 is configured to pick up products from the storage tower 1 and release a predetermined amount of products from the associated outer free end.

[0036] Furthermore, the dosing device 100 includes a plurality of first containers 3 for receiving the decoction product, each individually associated with a plurality of tubular channels 2.

[0037] Each container 3 has a wall 4 that can move between a closed position for holding the product inside the container 3 and an open position for allowing the amount of the brewed product to escape by falling out of the container 3.

[0038] The dosing device 100 includes a fixed platform 5 that supports a first set of containers 3 for receiving products falling from corresponding tubular conduits 2.

[0039] The dosing device 100 comprises a plurality of weighing elements 6, each of which is supported by a fixed platform 5 and associated with a corresponding container 3 of the first plurality of containers 3.

[0040] It should be noted that each element 6 for the actual weighing of the product is configured to measure the weight of the container 3 to which it is associated (the weight of the container itself) and the quantity of product within it.

[0041] Furthermore, the dosing device 100 includes a control unit 11 that communicates with each actuator 13 and each actual weighing element 6 (and preferably with the movable platform 9 as well).

[0042] The control unit 11 is programmed to detect the values measured by each of the multiple elements 6 and to activate the corresponding channel 2 until a predetermined amount of product is reached (as will be described in more detail below).

[0043] As shown in the figure, the device 100 comprises multiple reference elements 12 (of the quantity, i.e., weight, of a single serving of product) each positioned near (below) the corresponding actual weighing element 6, and the multiple reference elements 12 are independent of the actual weighing element 6.

[0044] Multiple reference elements 12 are associated with a fixed platform 5, each supporting a predetermined weight (the predetermined value is, for example, a programmed weight value of the decoction product, which corresponds to the weight value to be dosed in the corresponding container 3 of the multiple containers 3).

[0045] Preferably, each reference element 12 is configured to communicate with the control unit 11 and transmit to the control unit 11 at least one signal corresponding to the weight value of the container 3 to be subtracted from the detection signal transmitted by the corresponding actual weighing element 6 (i.e., the weight of the empty container (the weight of the container itself) which is added to the quantity, i.e., weight of the product to be placed in the corresponding container 3 of the first plurality of containers).

[0046] Preferably, the number of actual measurement elements 6 is equal to the number of reference elements 12.

[0047] Based on this, each reference element 12 is positioned near the corresponding actual measurement element 6 among the plurality of actual measurement elements 6. Preferably, the apparatus 100 includes a second plurality of containers 7 for receiving the amount of brewed product falling from the corresponding container 3 among the first plurality of containers.

[0048] Each container 7 of the second plurality of containers has a wall 8 that is movable between a closed position for holding the product within the second plurality of containers 7 and an open position from which the brewed product can leak out as it falls from the second plurality of containers 7.

[0049] The dosing device 100 also includes a platform 9 that is movable (in direction V) relative to the plurality of tubular channels 2 and positioned beneath the plurality of tubular channels 2.

[0050] Platform 9 is associated with a second set of containers 7 that are arranged sequentially along platform 9.

[0051] The platform 9 is configured to transport each container 7 of the second plurality of containers to a supply position for supplying the amount of product falling from the corresponding container 3 of the first plurality of containers to the second plurality of containers 7, according to a predetermined sequence, and then to a discharge position (particularly to the discharge zone 10) that is different from the supply position and along the supply direction V of the platform 9 for leakage due to the falling of the amount of brewed product from the second plurality of containers 7.

[0052] As shown in Figures 1 to 3, the housing tower 1 has a first axis X1 for expansion in the longitudinal direction.

[0053] Furthermore, as shown in Figures 1 to 3, each channel (in this case, a tubular cylindrical shape) 2 protrudes radially from the housing tower 1.

[0054] Preferably, each tubular channel 2 protrudes from the housing tower 1 and rotates around a corresponding second axis X2 of longitudinal deployment.

[0055] Furthermore, in the illustration, the fixed platform 5 and the movable platform 9 have a circular shape (and surround the tower 1 for housing the product from below).

[0056] Furthermore, the movable platform 9 rotates in direction V and along a circular path around axis X1.

[0057] Platform 9 is movable thanks to a drive unit (not shown).

[0058] Preferably, the movable platform 9 moves in continuous motion if required.

[0059] According to the illustrated solution, each actual measuring element 6 is positioned beneath and in contact with the corresponding container 3 of the first plurality of containers.

[0060] Thanks to the presence of reference elements, the system for dosing each tubular conduit is always controlled in real time by the control unit, and as will be described in more detail below, the control unit can apply various individual calibrations to the tubular conduits by taking a comparison made between the actual weight (non-operating and non-dynamic) measurements and the corresponding detection signals.

[0061] The resulting structure maintains high-speed product supply while achieving high dosing accuracy and a significant reduction in the overall dimensions of the device.

[0062] Each weighing element 6 is configured to communicate with the control unit 11 and transmit a signal corresponding to the actual weight of the product supplied from the corresponding tubular conduit 2 to the first container 3.

[0063] Based on this, the weighing element 6 may be a load cell that transmits several signals to the control unit 11 during the dynamic steps of the product's drop, and may also be a load cell that transmits one or more signals when it is not in operation, i.e., when the product supply is complete.

[0064] Based on this, each tubular conduit 2 communicates individually with the control unit 11 and is programmed to release, in a single action, a quantity of product equivalent to the complete dose of the decoction product (in the corresponding container 3 of the first plurality of containers).

[0065] It should be noted that the control unit 11 is programmed to receive and process each signal corresponding to the actual weight of the dose transmitted by each actual weighing element 6, along with the signal associated with the reference weight value of a known value transmitted by the corresponding reference element.

[0066] The control unit 11 can change the operating configuration for releasing the decoction product from the corresponding tubular conduit 2 if there is data outside of the preset parameters, obtained from the difference between the weight measured by each actual weighing element 6 and the weight measured by the corresponding reference element 12.

[0067] Preferably, each tubular channel 2 has a screw profile formed at its free end for picking up products inside the tower 1 for housing the products.

[0068] As described above, the dosing device 100 includes a moving device 13 for each tubular channel 2.

[0069] Each mobile device 13 is supported by the housing tower 1 and is positioned on a corresponding tubular channel 2.

[0070] Each moving device 13 allows the corresponding tubular channel 2 to rotate around the relevant axis X2 of longitudinal deployment.

[0071] It should be noted that each mobile device 13 is connected to a control unit 11 which is programmed to control the mobile device 13 to obtain rotation of the corresponding channel according to rotation time parameters and rotation speed parameters, depending on the amount of decoction product to be supplied to the container below.

[0072] Preferably, the moving device 13 is configured to rotate the corresponding tubular conduit in a rotational direction V2 about its longitudinal axis X2 (preferably in the opposite direction of rotation of the tubular conduit 2 before and after the tubular conduit 2, which refers to the direction of movement V of the movable platform 9).

[0073] This alternating rotation between the consecutive tubular conduits 2 allows the product to be uniformly transported downwards from the tower 1 towards the individual tubular conduits 2.

[0074] As already mentioned, the containment tower 1 has a first axis X1 for longitudinal deployment.

[0075] Tower 1 includes a base 14 having a tapered cross-section to form a surface for discharging inclined products toward the tubular channel 2.

[0076] Based on this, the base 14 is equipped with a moving device 15 that can generate axial vibrations on the base 14, i.e., vibrations parallel to the longitudinal axis X1 of the tower 1's deployment, so that the product can be uniformly distributed toward the tubular conduit 2.

[0077] In other words, the surrounding walls of the base 14 and tower 1 define a chamber configured in the form of an inclined platform (i.e., a chamber with a gradual incline that slopes downward from the center of the chamber toward the outside where the tubular channel 2 is located), and this chamber can always maintain a predetermined level of uncoated decoction product available to the tubular channel 2.

[0078] As shown in the figure, the fixed platform 5 has a circular or annular shape, like the movable platform 9, and comprises a first integrated internal annular portion 5a in which each actual weighing element 6 and each reference element 12 are radially associated.

[0079] Each actual weighing element 6 (load cell) is placed on top of the corresponding reference element 12.

[0080] Preferably, each weighing element 6 is separated from the corresponding reference element 12 by an annular projection 5b of the fixed portion 5a of the platform 5.

[0081] In this way, the actual measured values and reference signals are transmitted from a position similar to axis X1 of tower 1, and vibrations emitted by the automated machine to which the device is mounted are distributed equally to both cells.

[0082] Therefore, thanks to this structure, the reference data can reduce actual reading errors caused by the machine's vibration frequency.

[0083] It should be noted that the total weight of the product mass within the container is controlled in real time each time it is dispensed, thanks to a comparison performed by the control unit between the signal received from the actual weighing element and the signal received from the reference element.

[0084] In particular, the following is transmitted to the control unit in real time: A reference signal corresponding to the theoretical weight of the container, including the weight of the empty container (i.e., the weight of the container itself), which is added to the weight of the product to be deposited in the corresponding container after identifying potential errors due to machine vibration (i.e., subtracting weight anomalies due to vibration present at that moment). This is the signal of the actual weight of the container.

[0085] At this point, the control unit constantly compares the two incoming signals in real time, i.e., subtracting the reference signal from the actual weight signal and, if necessary, changing the dosing of the corresponding tubular channel. As an example configuration, the dosing apparatus 100 in the attached drawing includes 10 first containers 3 for receiving and 10 tubular conduits 2 uniformly arranged on a fixed platform 5.

[0086] The movable platform 9 has 12 second containers 7, since the two containers 7 are always above the discharge zone 10 and not engaged below the tubular conduit 2.

[0087] The present invention also provides a method for supplying a dosage of a decoction product for making filter bags.

[0088] This method includes the following steps: The steps include simultaneously preparing a decoction product by weight in a quantity equivalent to a programmed dose of the decoction product in multiple tubular conduits 2, The steps include simultaneously depositing doses of the decoction product from multiple tubular conduits 2 into corresponding first multiple containers 3 supported by a fixed platform 5, by dropping them into the containers; The first step involves actually measuring the amount of the decoction product accumulated in individual containers 3 of the multiple containers, A step of performing a reference weighing of the weights of multiple reference elements 12 associated with a fixed platform 5, wherein the weights are known and have predetermined values, The process includes the step of using a control unit 11 to compare each actual measurement data of the amount of the decoction product deposited in each container 3 with the corresponding reference data from among a plurality of reference elements 12.

[0089] Preferably, after the step of comparing each actual measurement data with the corresponding reference data, there is a step of calibrating the preparation of the amount of product to be dosed by changing the corresponding operating parameters of each tubular conduit 2 by the control unit 11, if necessary.

[0090] In other words, if the weight data and reference data are abnormal and outside a predetermined range, the control unit 11 changes the rotation speed parameter of the tubular channel, the rotation time parameter, or both parameters.

[0091] Preferably, after the step of discharging a quantity of product from each container 3 of the first plurality of containers into the corresponding container 7 of the second plurality of containers, each measuring element and each reference unit transmits a calibration signal to the control unit to start the next cycle.

[0092] Following the comparison step, there is a deposition step in which the quantities of the product contained in each of the first plurality of containers 3 are simultaneously deposited by dropping into the corresponding containers 7 of the second plurality of containers, which are positioned on a movable platform 9.

[0093] Following the loading step, the movable platform 9 moves (rotates), allowing each of the second multiple containers 7 to reach the zone 10 for discharging the corresponding amount of product it contains.

[0094] Preferably, during the movement (rotation) step of the movable platform 9 for discharging the respective doses of the second plurality of containers 7 into the discharge zone 10, the steps of preparing the doses of the decoction product into the tubular conduit 2, depositing the doses into the corresponding containers 3 of the first plurality of containers placed on the fixed platform 5, a weighing step, and a step of comparing each deposited weighed data with the corresponding reference data are performed simultaneously.

[0095] Thus, under steady-state conditions, the steps of dose preparation, emptiness of the first dose, and accurate measurement of the dose weight are performed during a "masked time."

[0096] Thanks to this dosing device, the pre-set objectives are achieved.

[0097] In particular, dosing devices have a structure that allows each single dose to be sped up and precise, typically having a considerable duration that affects the entire machine cycle, thanks to a double-drop system that controls the weight of the dose during masked time, i.e., while the dose of the container is being discharged in the discharge zone.

[0098] The presence of a "control" cell in combination with a weighing cell makes it possible to always accurately control the weight of the dosed product, regardless of vibrations transmitted by the automated machine to which the dosing device is attached. [Prior art documents] [Patent Documents]
