Abstract

To provide an image forming apparatus that can prevent a reduction in the accuracy of adhesion amount detection for a pattern for adjustment performed by adhesion amount detection means.SOLUTION: When an image forming apparatus forms a scraping pattern that is a toner image pattern on an intermediate transfer belt that is an image carrier, and subsequently a pattern for adjustment is formed during one or two revolutions of the intermediate transfer belt (Yes in S2), the image forming apparatus changes the length in a main scanning direction of the scraping pattern formed on the intermediate transfer belt so that the length falls within a paper feeding area of the intermediate transfer belt (S4).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
