[0004] [Patent Document 1] JP 2023-57871 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0005] Here, image processing using machine learning may take longer to process than image processing not using machine learning (e.g., image processing using a smoothing filter). As a result, for example, the time from when a technician performs imaging to when a radiographic image is displayed on a display unit may be longer, which may result in a longer time required for diagnosis.

[0006] Therefore, an object of the present disclosure is to shorten the time until a radiological image is displayed on a display unit when performing image processing that requires a long processing time. [Means for solving the problem]

[0007] The information processing device of the present disclosure includes: The display control means controls the display means so that, when an instruction is received regarding acquisition of the first radiographic image, a second radiographic image obtained by subjecting the radiographic image obtained by detecting radiation to a first image processing is displayed before the first radiographic image is displayed, and the second radiographic image is displayed after the second radiographic image is displayed. The second radiographic image is obtained by subjecting the radiographic image obtained by subjecting the radiographic image to a second image processing having a shorter processing time than the first image processing, and the first radiographic image is displayed after the second radiographic image. Effect of the Invention

[0008] According to the present disclosure, when performing image processing that requires a long processing time, it is possible to reduce the time until a radiological image is displayed on a display unit. [Brief description of the drawings]

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0010] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present disclosure will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. Note that the following embodiments do not limit the scope of the invention, and not all of the combinations of features described in the embodiments are necessarily essential to the solution of the invention.

[0011] (First embodiment) 1 is a diagram showing an example of the configuration of a radiation imaging system according to the first embodiment. The radiation imaging system includes a control device 100, a radiation imaging device 110, an operation unit 120, a display unit 130, a high-definition display unit 135, and a radiation generation device 140.

[0012] The radiation imaging device 110 is, for example, a radiation imaging device using a flat panel detector (FPD) made of semiconductor material. The radiation imaging device 110 detects radiation that has passed through a subject (not shown) and outputs image data corresponding to the radiation. The image data can also be referred to as a medical image or a radiation image. The radiation imaging device 110 converts the radiation that has passed through the subject into an electric charge.

[0013] For the charge conversion, a direct conversion sensor using, for example, a-Se is used, which directly converts radiation into charge. For the charge conversion, an indirect sensor using, for example, a scintillator such as CsI and a photoelectric conversion element such as a-Si is used, which converts radiation into visible light and then converts it into charge. Furthermore, the radiation imaging device 110 generates image data by A / D converting the charge. Then, the radiation imaging device 110 outputs the generated image data to the control device 100.

[0014] The operation unit 120 is, for example, a mouse and a keyboard for receiving instructions from an operator.

[0015] The display unit 130 is, for example, a liquid crystal display. The display unit 130 is controlled by a display control unit 107 included in the control device 100. Here, the display unit 130 may be separate from the control device 100, or may be incorporated into the control device 100.

[0016] The high definition display unit 135 is, for example, a liquid crystal display having a higher resolution than that of the display unit 130. The high definition display unit 135 is controlled by a display control unit 107 included in the control device 100. Here, the high definition display unit 135 may be separate from the control device 100, or may be incorporated into the control device 100.

[0017] It should be noted that the display unit 130 and the high definition display unit 135 do not necessarily have to be separate devices. For example, the high definition display unit 135 may have two display areas.

[0018] The control device 100 is, for example, an information processing device such as a computer. The control device 100 is connected to the radiation imaging device 110 via, for example, a wired or wireless network so as to be able to communicate with the radiation imaging device 110. Here, being able to communicate includes not only direct communication between the devices but also communication via other devices. The control device 100 can execute applications. That is, the control device 100 has one or more processors and memories, and the processor executes a program stored in the memory to realize each of the functional units described below. However, some or all of the functional units may be realized by dedicated hardware. The control device 100 performs image processing on image data input from the radiation imaging device 110. The control device 100 also displays the image data that has been subjected to the image processing on the display unit 130 or the high-definition display unit 135. The display on the display unit 130 or the high-definition display unit 135 is performed by a display control unit 107 included in the control device 100. The display control unit 107 is, for example, a display driver incorporated in a CPU. The display control unit 107 is an example of a display control means. The control device 100 also displays a graphical user interface (GUI) on the display unit 130. The control device 100 also controls the timing at which the radiation generating device 140 generates radiation and the conditions for capturing radiation.

[0019] The control device 100 includes an image acquisition unit 101 , an image processing unit 102 , an imaging information input unit 104 , a learning result data acquisition unit 105 , a learning result data storage unit 106 , and an output unit 109 .

[0020] The image acquisition unit 101 acquires image data generated by the radiation imaging device 110 .

[0021] The imaging information input unit 104 is, for example, a GUI. The imaging information is input (set) to the imaging information input unit 104 by an operator. Here, the imaging information includes, for example, the type of radiation imaging device, the type of image to be processed, an image processing method, and an image display method. For example, the type of radiation imaging device includes the imaging resolution of the phosphor and radiation imaging device, and the pixel pitch of the radiation imaging device, and the type of image to be processed includes, for example, a 1 / 8 thinned preview image, a 1 / 4 thinned preview image, a 1 / 2 thinned preview image, a full-size image without thinning, and an output image, depending on the size of the image and pre-processing. The image processing method includes, for example, image processing using machine learning, image processing without machine learning, and the like. The image display method includes, for example, a display method in which only a radiation image that has been subjected to image processing using machine learning is displayed, or a radiation image that has been subjected to image processing without machine learning is displayed before a radiation image that has been subjected to image processing using machine learning is displayed, and the like. The operator inputs the imaging information to the GUI using the operation unit 120. Moreover, the shooting information acquired by the image acquisition unit 101 is input to the shooting information input unit 104. The shooting information input to the shooting information input unit 104 is associated with the image data acquired by the image acquisition unit 101.

[0022] The learning result data storage unit 106 stores learning result data obtained by machine learning using the teacher image.

[0023] The learning result data acquiring unit 105 reads out the learning result data from the learning result data storage unit 106. The learning result data acquiring unit 105 also includes information linking various words and word combinations included in the shooting information with the learning result data stored in the learning result data storage unit 106. Therefore, the learning result data acquiring unit 105 can acquire the learning result data used in the processing of the inference processing unit 103 of the image processing unit 102, based on the words included in the shooting information.

[0024] The image processing unit 102 includes an inference processing unit 103 and a display control unit 107 .

[0025] The inference processing unit 103 performs inference processing using learning result data obtained by machine learning, such as noise reduction processing, etc. Note that the inference processing unit 103 may perform inference processing other than noise reduction processing, such as gradation processing.

[0026] In addition to the inference processing, the image processing unit 102 can also perform image processing such as contrast adjustment on image data input from the radiation imaging device 110. The image processing unit 102 can also perform image processing such as trimming and rotation on image data input from the radiation imaging device 110. The image processing unit 102 can perform not only image processing using machine learning (inference processing by the inference processing unit 103) but also image processing without machine learning (for example, image processing using a smoothing filter). Which image processing is performed is determined by the resolution of the connected display unit and the imaging information input to the imaging information input unit 104. The processing time required for image processing using machine learning is longer than the processing time required for image processing without machine learning. The image processing using machine learning is an example of a first image processing. The image processing without machine learning is an example of a second image processing.

[0027] The display control unit 107 controls the display unit 130 and the high-definition display unit 135. The display control unit 107 can detect whether a display unit is connected. The detection is performed, for example, based on display setting information set by an operator. The display setting information is, for example, information indicating the number of display units (or display areas) connected to the information processing device 100. The display setting information is, for example, information indicating the arrangement relationship of a plurality of display units (or display areas). The detection is performed, for example, by performing electrical communication between the display unit and the control device 100. The electrical communication includes, for example, a connection detection signal transmitted from the display unit to the control device 100 when the display unit and the control device 100 are connected by a cable. The electrical communication also includes, for example, communication for negotiation performed after the connection detection signal is transmitted. The display control unit 107 can acquire the resolution of the connected display unit. The resolution is acquired by the above-mentioned display setting information or electrical communication. Therefore, the display control unit 107 can detect whether the display unit 130 and the high-definition display unit 135 are connected. The display unit 130 and the high-definition display unit 135 are an example of a display means. The display unit 130 is an example of a first display area. The high-definition display unit 135 is an example of a second display area different from the first display area. It is assumed that a GUI used to set shooting conditions is displayed on either the display unit 130 or the high-definition display unit 135, and is not displayed on the other. Here, it is assumed that the GUI is displayed on the display unit 130.

[0028] The output unit 109 outputs the image that has been subjected to image processing by the image processing unit 102 to an external device (such as a PACS or a printer).

[0029] Next, the operation of the control device 100 in the first embodiment will be described with reference to the flowchart in FIG.

[0030] In step S201, the imaging information is input to the imaging information input unit 104 of the control device 100. The imaging information is input by, for example, the operator selecting one piece of imaging information from among a plurality of pieces of imaging information displayed on the display unit 130 in a list format or the like. The imaging information may not be selected by the operator, but may be directly input by the operator. The input by the operator is an example of an instruction regarding acquisition. Here, it is assumed that an instruction is given to acquire a radiographic image that has been subjected to image processing using machine learning. The instruction regarding acquisition may be, for example, an instruction to start an examination. Or, for example, it may be an instruction indicating that preparations to start an examination are complete. In other words, the instruction regarding acquisition may be input to the control device 100 in the process of performing imaging.

[0031] In step S202, the control device 100 starts the examination according to the imaging information input in step S201. Specifically, the control device 100 transmits a start signal for imaging preparation to the radiation imaging device 110. When the radiation imaging device 110 receives the start signal for imaging preparation, the control device 100 controls the bias power supply by the main control circuit to apply a bias voltage to the imaging pixel. Thereafter, in order to read out the dark current signal accumulated in the imaging pixel, the radiation imaging device 110 performs an initialization operation of reading out electric charges from the imaging pixel using a drive circuit. After the initialization operation is completed, the radiation imaging device 110 transmits status information indicating that the radiation imaging device 110 is ready for imaging to the control device 100. In addition, the control device 100 sets the operation parameters (tube voltage, etc.) of the radiation generation device 140 based on the imaging information selected in step S201. When the control device 100 receives the status information from the radiation imaging device 110, it notifies the radiation generation device 140 of the permission of exposure.

[0032] In step S203, the image acquiring unit 101 of the control device 100 acquires a radiation image captured by the radiation imaging device 110. Specifically, for example, the radiation generating device 140, which has been notified of permission for exposure, irradiates radiation in response to the operation of an exposure button. The drive circuit of the radiation imaging device 110 reads out an image signal obtained by detecting the irradiated radiation using a readout circuit, and generates a radiation image. Then, the radiation imaging device 110 transmits the generated radiation image to the control device 100. The image acquiring unit 101 of the control device 100 receives the radiation image transmitted by the radiation imaging device 110. Through the operations of steps S201 to S203, the control device 100 associates the imaging information input to the imaging information input unit 104 with the radiation image (image data) acquired by the image acquiring unit 101.

[0033] On the other hand, in step S204, the learning result data acquisition unit 105 of the control device 100 acquires learning result data from the learning result data storage unit 106 based on the imaging information selected in step S203. Details of the process of step S204 will be described later with reference to the flowchart of Fig. 3(a). Note that the process of step S204 may be executed in parallel with the process of step S203 (acquisition of a radiological image).

[0034] In step S205, the image processing unit 102 of the control device 100 processes the radiographic image captured by the radiation imaging device 110. Furthermore, the display control unit 107 of the control device 100 displays the processed radiographic image on the display unit. Since the process of step S205 is a characteristic part of this embodiment, the details of the process of step S205 will be described later with reference to the flowchart in FIG. 3(b).

[0035] When the radiation image is displayed on the display unit, in step S206, the control device 100 ends the examination in response to an input operation by the operator.

[0036] Next, the process of acquiring learning result data by the learning result data acquiring unit 105 of the control device 100 (the process of step S204) will be described with reference to the flowchart in FIG.

[0037] In step S301, the learning result data acquisition unit 105 acquires the shooting information determined in step S203.

[0038] In step S302, the learning result data acquisition unit 105 selects the learning result data according to the shooting information acquired in step S301.

[0039] Then, in step S303, the learning result data acquisition unit 105 reads out the learning result data selected in step S302 from the learning result data storage unit 106, expands it so that it can be used by, for example, the inference processing unit 103, and stores it in a storage unit (not shown).

[0040] Next, the process (step S205) of the image processing unit 102 and the display control unit 107 of the control device 100 will be described with reference to the flowchart in FIG.

[0041] In step S311, the image processing unit 102 performs image processing that does not use machine learning.

[0042] Next, in step S312, the display control unit 107 displays the radiographic image that has been subjected to the image processing in S311 on the display unit 130. Note that the radiographic image that has been subjected to the image processing in S311 is an example of a second radiographic image.

[0043] Next, in step S313, the image processing unit 102 performs image processing using machine learning, using the learning result data obtained in the processing of S204.

[0044] Next, in step S314, the display control unit 107 displays the radiographic image that has been subjected to the image processing in S313 on the high definition display unit 135. Note that the radiographic image that has been subjected to the image processing in S313 is an example of a first radiographic image.

[0045] Here, in the conventional method, image processing and display without machine learning (S311 to S312) are not performed, but image processing and display using machine learning (S313 to S314) are performed. In other words, the processing time required for image processing using machine learning is required until the captured radiation image is displayed on the display unit.

[0046] Therefore, in the method of this embodiment, image processing and display without machine learning (S311 to S312) are performed before image processing and display using machine learning (S313 to S314). The processing time required for image processing without machine learning is shorter than the processing time required for image processing using machine learning. Therefore, the method of this embodiment can reduce the time required for a captured radiographic image to be displayed on the display unit compared to conventional methods.

[0047] In addition, when the control device 100 is capable of performing a plurality of image processing operations without using machine learning, the control device 100 may select the image processing operation according to the purpose. For example, if the time until display is a priority, the control device 100 may select the image processing operation with the shortest processing time. In addition, for example, the control device 100 may select the image processing operation that provides the processing result closest to the processing result of the image processing operation using machine learning. In this case, not only is the time until display shortened, but the radiologist can also appropriately check the imaging result. In addition, the selection may be performed by the control device 100 or by an operator such as a radiologist.

[0048] The radiological image displayed on the display unit 130 is used, for example, by a radiological technologist to check the radiological image capturing results and adjust image processing parameters. Therefore, by shortening the time until the captured radiological image is displayed on the display unit 130, the work efficiency of the radiological technologist can be improved.

[0049] In addition, after the radiologist has checked and adjusted the radiation image to be output to an external device, the high-definition display unit 135 is used to check the radiation image. By shortening the time it takes for the captured radiation image to be displayed on the display unit 130, it is possible to shorten the time it takes for the image to be output to an external device.

[0050] In addition, since the doctor makes a diagnosis after the radiologist has confirmed and adjusted the condition, the time required for the captured radiographic image to be displayed on the display unit 130 can be shortened, thereby speeding up the diagnosis.

[0051] Second Embodiment In the first embodiment, the operation of the control device 100 from imaging to display has been described. Here, medical images such as captured radiographic images are generally output to an external device for image confirmation connected to an in-hospital network and used for diagnosis, etc. In the second embodiment, the operation of the control device 100 when outputting medical images captured in the first embodiment to an external device such as a PACS or a printer will be described. The operation of the control device 100 in the second embodiment will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG. 4.

[0052] In step S401, the imaging information after the examination is input to the imaging information input unit 104 of the control device 100. The imaging information after the examination is information including, for example, imaging date and time of the radiographic image, a patient ID, a patient name, etc. The imaging information after the examination is input by, for example, the operator selecting one piece of imaging information after the examination from among a plurality of pieces of imaging information after the examination displayed in a list format or the like on the display unit 130. The selected imaging information after the examination is set as an output target to an external device. Note that the imaging information after the examination may be directly input by the operator instead of being selected by the operator.

[0053] In step S402, the control device 100 starts output processing based on the imaging information after the examination has been completed, which has been input in step S401.

[0054] In step S403, the image acquisition unit 101 included in the control device 100 acquires a radiation image associated with the post-examination imaging information from an image storage unit (not shown).

[0055] On the other hand, in step S404, the learning result data acquisition unit 105 included in the control device 100 acquires learning result data from the learning result data storage unit 106 based on the imaging information associated with the radiation image acquired in step S403.

[0056] In step S405, the image processing unit 102 of the control device 100 executes image processing on the radiation image acquired by the image acquisition unit 101. At this time, the inference processing unit 103 executes inference processing by machine learning using the learning result data acquired in step S404. The inference processing unit 103 performs, for example, noise reduction processing, processing for determining display contents such as annotations to be superimposed on the output image, and the like. Here, in S314 (display) of the first embodiment, it has been described that the radiation image subjected to image processing using machine learning is displayed on the high-definition display unit 135. However, when outputting to a PACS or the like, the image is confirmed on the screen of the output destination PACS or the like. That is, since the application is different from that of the first embodiment, the image processing in step S405 may be image processing different from that of the first embodiment. For example, in the first embodiment, learning result data that prioritizes speed is used, but the image processing in step S405 may be differentiated by using learning result data that prioritizes image quality, for example.

[0057] In step S406, the control device 100 ends the output.

[0058] As described above, according to the second embodiment, noise reduction processing can be performed using optimal learning result data suitable for output processing in the output processing as well. This allows the operator to check, using the high-definition display unit 135, a radiological image of the same image quality as that of a radiological image output to a PACS or the like.

[0059] (Third embodiment) In the first embodiment, the image processing for the radiation image displayed on the display unit 130 and the high-definition display unit 135 has been described. Fig. 5 is a block diagram showing an example of the configuration of a radiation imaging system in the third embodiment. In Fig. 5, the same reference numbers are used for the same components as in the first embodiment.

[0060] The radiation imaging system in the third embodiment further includes an information display unit 108 that displays image processing information (image processing parameters) to be applied to the radiation images displayed on the display unit 130 and the high definition display unit 135 on the respective screens.

[0061] The information display unit 108 will be described with reference to FIG. 6. The table in FIG. 6(a) shows image processing information set for imaging, image processing applied to the radiation image displayed on the display unit 130 and the high-definition display unit 135, and image processing information displayed by the information display unit 108. The image processing information set for imaging is information instructed by an operator or the like. For example, No. 1 indicates that an instruction has been given to perform noise reduction processing using machine learning (AI NR). Also, for example, No. 2 indicates that an instruction has been given to perform noise reduction processing without machine learning (NR). Also, for example, No. 3 indicates that an instruction has been given to perform neither noise reduction processing using machine learning (AI NR) nor noise reduction processing without machine learning (NR).

[0062] Figures 6(b) and 6(c) show examples of the display on the display unit 130 and the high-definition display unit 135 for No. 1 shown in Figure 6(a). Figure 6(b) shows an example of the display on the display unit 130. Figure 6(c) shows an example of the display on the high-definition display unit 135.

[0063] 6(b), a radiological image 601 to which noise reduction processing (NR) without machine learning has been applied is displayed on the display unit 130. In addition, image processing information 602 (AI NR: ON) indicating that noise reduction processing using machine learning (AI NR) has been applied is displayed on the radiological image 601 by the information display unit 108. Note that the image processing information 602 is an example of first image processing information.

[0064] 6(c), a radiological image 603 to which noise reduction processing using machine learning (AI NR) corresponding to the image processing information set for imaging has been applied is displayed on the high definition display unit 135. In addition, image processing information 604 (AI NR: ON) indicating that noise reduction processing using machine learning (AI NR) has been applied is displayed on the radiological image 603 by the information display unit 108.

[0065] As described above, in the method of the third embodiment, like the first embodiment, image processing and display are performed on the display unit 130 without using machine learning. Also, in the method of the third embodiment, like the first embodiment, image processing and display are performed on the high definition display unit 135 using machine learning. Therefore, like the first embodiment, the method of the third embodiment provides effects such as improved work efficiency by radiologists.

[0066] Furthermore, the method of the third embodiment has the advantage that the operator can check the image processing information to be applied to the radiological image to be output to the PACS or the like by displaying image processing information 604 indicating that image processing using machine learning (AI NR) will be applied to the radiological image that has been subjected to image processing not using machine learning and is displayed on the display unit 130.

[0067] (Fourth embodiment) In the fourth embodiment, a case where the high definition display unit 135 is not connected to the control device 100 will be described.

[0068] Fig. 7 is a block diagram showing an example of the configuration of a radiation imaging system according to the fourth embodiment. The difference from Fig. 1 used in the description of the first embodiment is that the high-definition display unit 135 is not connected.

[0069] Fig. 8 is a flowchart for explaining the difference between the operation of the control device 100 in the fourth embodiment and the first embodiment. The operation of the control device 100 in the fourth embodiment and the operation of the control device 100 in the first embodiment differ from the process of S205 in Fig. 2 used in the description of the first embodiment. Therefore, Fig. 8 is a diagram showing the details of the process of S205.

[0070] In step S801, the image processing unit 102 performs image processing that does not use machine learning.

[0071] Next, in step S802, the display control unit 107 controls the radiographic image processed in S801 so that it can be displayed on the display unit 130. Here, controlling so that it can be displayed means, for example, controlling so that it can be displayed by an operation by an operator (for example, clicking a mouse). Note that instead of controlling so that it can be displayed, it may be displayed on the display unit 130.

[0072] Next, in step S803, the image processing unit 102 performs image processing using machine learning, using the learning result data obtained in the processing of S204.

[0073] Next, in step S804, the display control unit 107 controls the display unit 130 to display the radiation image that has been subjected to the image processing in S803.

[0074] An example of the display is shown in Fig. 9. Fig. 9(a) shows a display in which a button on the GUI indicating NR (image processing without machine learning) is clicked by the operator in a state in which step S802 has been completed. In a state in which step S802 has been completed, radiological images that have been subjected to image processing without machine learning can be displayed, and therefore, by clicking the mouse, radiological images that have been subjected to image processing without machine learning are displayed. On the other hand, in a state in which step S802 has been completed, radiological images that have been subjected to image processing using machine learning cannot be displayed, and therefore, a display indicating that they cannot be selected (grayed out) is displayed.

[0075] 9(b) shows a display in which the button on the GUI indicating AI NR (image processing using machine learning) is clicked with the mouse by the operator after step S804 has been completed. Since a radiological image that has been subjected to image processing using machine learning can be displayed after step S804 has been completed, the radiological image that has been subjected to image processing using machine learning is displayed by clicking the mouse.

[0076] As described above, the method of the fourth embodiment makes it possible to switch between displaying a radiological image that has been subjected to image processing using machine learning and a radiological image that has been subjected to image processing without using machine learning, even when the high definition display unit 135 is not connected.

[0077] In the fourth embodiment, a method of switching between a radiological image and a radiological image that has been subjected to image processing without machine learning has been described, but the display method is not limited to this. For example, a radiological image and a radiological image that has been subjected to image processing without machine learning may be displayed side by side.

[0078] Also, in the method of the fourth embodiment, similar to the method of the first embodiment, image processing and display without machine learning (S801 to S802) are performed before image processing and display using machine learning (S803 to S804). The processing time required for image processing without machine learning is shorter than the processing time required for image processing using machine learning. Therefore, the method of this embodiment can reduce the time required for a captured radiographic image to be displayed on the display unit compared to conventional methods.
