Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a battery case in which a battery is housed. [Background technology]
[0002] In recent years, automobiles equipped with a motor as a driving source (such as hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs)) have become widespread. These automobiles (hereinafter collectively referred to as "electric vehicles") are equipped with a battery (hereinafter simply referred to as a battery) for driving the motor. Such batteries are configured to be rechargeable by a charging circuit mounted on a board based on power supplied from an external source.
[0003] As such a board, for example, the board described in Patent Document 1 can be used. This board is a single board when shipped from the factory, but is configured so that it can be divided into two or more boards by the user. The divided boards are used by being electrically connected to each other by cables or the like.
[0004] Patent Document 2 describes a battery pack. This battery pack includes a power storage module, a housing, a circuit board, and a cooling mechanism. The circuit board is housed in a case.
[0005] Furthermore, a battery pack is also described in Patent Document 3. This battery pack is configured by accommodating a secondary battery and a circuit board that configures a battery management circuit in a case, and integrally incorporating a blower fan that promotes heat dissipation. [0006] [Patent Document 1] JP 2013-149641 A [Patent Document 2] JP 2022-139475 A [Patent Document 3] JP 2005-209367 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0007] As described in Patent Document 1, when a plurality of boards are used, it is necessary to electrically connect the boards with cables or the like. Such cables are easily affected by external noise, so measures to reduce the effect are necessary, which is a factor of increased costs. In addition, since it is necessary to prepare the cable itself, this also causes increased costs. In addition, in the battery pack described in Patent Document 2, the circuit board used for storing electricity in the storage module is housed in a case, but a circuit board used for using (discharging) the electricity stored in the storage module is not assumed. Furthermore, in the battery pack described in Patent Document 3, a circuit board on which a battery management circuit for controlling charging and discharging of the secondary battery and battery protection control is configured is housed in a case, but a circuit that actually performs charging is not housed in the case. For this reason, it is necessary to provide a separate circuit for charging, which causes the battery pack to become large. As described above, the techniques described in Patent Documents 1-3 have room for improvement in terms of noise reduction, cost reduction, and miniaturization.
[0008] Therefore, there is a demand for a battery case that is less susceptible to the effects of noise, is compact, and is suitable for reducing costs. [Means for solving the problem]
[0009] A characteristic configuration of the battery case of the present invention is that it comprises a case body that houses a battery, and a single board on which a DC power conversion unit that converts external AC power into DC power capable of charging the battery, and an AC power conversion unit that converts the DC power from the battery into AC power of a frequency that can be used as a commercial power source is provided, and the board is housed in the case body.
[0010] With such a characteristic configuration, the DC power conversion unit and the AC power conversion unit are provided on a single board, so that the number of cables and bus bars used can be reduced. This makes it possible to achieve size reduction and cost reduction. In addition, since the number of cables and bus bars used can be reduced, it becomes possible to reduce the influence of noise. Furthermore, since the board on which the DC power conversion unit and the AC power conversion unit are provided is housed in the case body together with the battery, the DC power conversion unit used to charge the battery and the AC power conversion unit used to supply power from the battery can be provided near the battery. Therefore, the length of the cable electrically connecting the board and the battery can be shortened, so that it becomes possible to reduce the influence of noise and to reduce power consumption in the cable. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0012] The battery case according to the present invention accommodates a battery used as a power source for an electric vehicle. A battery case 1 according to the present embodiment will be described below. However, the battery case 1 is not limited to the following embodiment, and various modifications are possible without departing from the gist of the present invention.
[0013] 1 is a perspective view of a battery case 1 of the present embodiment. As shown in FIG. 1, the battery case 1 includes a case body 10, a substrate 20, and a cooling plate 30.
[0014] The case body 10 houses the battery 2. The case body 10 is formed, for example, from resin in the shape of a box with a bottom. Thus, an accommodation space 10A is formed in the case body 10. Here, the electric vehicle is provided with a battery 2 that stores power as a power source, and a battery 3 (see FIG. 2) that stores power to be supplied to a load 93 (see FIG. 2) mounted on the electric vehicle. In this embodiment, the accommodation space 10A of the battery case 1 houses the battery 2. The case body 10 is provided between a pair of front wheels FW and a pair of rear wheels RW at the bottom that faces the road surface when the electric vehicle is traveling.
[0015] As shown in FIG. 1, the substrate 20 is configured as a single substrate. The substrate 20 is provided with a DC power conversion unit 50 and an AC power conversion unit 60. FIG. 2 is a block diagram showing the configurations of the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60. As shown in FIG. 2, the DC power conversion unit 50 is configured to include an AC / DC conversion unit 51, a first conversion unit 71, a transformer 72, and a second conversion unit 73. The AC power conversion unit 60 is configured to include an AC / DC conversion unit 61, a first conversion unit 71, a transformer 72, and a second conversion unit 73. Therefore, the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 are configured to share the first conversion unit 71, the transformer 72, and the second conversion unit 73 with each other. In this embodiment, in addition to the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60, a control unit 81 and a third conversion unit 82 are also provided on the substrate 20.
[0016] The DC power conversion unit 50 converts external AC power into DC power capable of charging the battery 2. The external power source is a power source outside the electric vehicle, different from the batteries 2 and 3 mounted on the electric vehicle. The AC power refers to power composed of an AC voltage whose voltage value oscillates at a predetermined cycle. Specifically, the AC voltage oscillates at a commercial frequency (e.g., 50 Hz or 60 Hz) and corresponds to an AC voltage of 200 V (effective value) taken from a commercial power source supplied by a single-phase three-wire system. The DC power refers to power composed of a DC voltage whose voltage value (excluding ripple voltage) is constant relative to a reference voltage.
[0017] The AC / DC converter 51 converts the above-mentioned external AC power into DC power. This DC power is not limited to DC power capable of charging the battery 2, but is simply AC power from the outside smoothed into DC power. Such an AC / DC converter 51 is configured with one pair of legs including a high-side switching element and a low-side switching element connected in series with each other. For example, n-type MOS-FETs (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors) are used as these switching elements.
[0018] In the AC / DC converter 51, DC power is supplied between the high-side switching element and the low-side switching element of one leg, and between the high-side switching element and the low-side switching element of the other leg.
[0019] The AC / DC conversion unit 51 is driven by sequentially switching between a first state in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are closed and the low-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are open, and a second state in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are open and the low-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are closed.
[0020] The AC / DC conversion unit 51 outputs DC power converted from AC power between a high-side power supply line in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are connected to each other, and a low-side power supply line in which the low-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are connected to each other.
[0021] The first conversion unit 71 inputs DC power from the AC / DC conversion unit 51 to a primary winding of a transformer 72. The first conversion unit 71 has two legs connected in parallel to the above-mentioned high-side power supply line and low-side power supply line. These two legs each have a high-side switching element and a low-side switching element connected in series. The switching elements of the first conversion unit 71 also use n-type MOS-FETs.
[0022] The first conversion unit 71 is driven by sequentially switching between a third state in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are closed and the low-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are open, and a fourth state in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are open and the low-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are closed.
[0023] The first conversion unit 71 outputs AC power between the high-side switching element and the low-side switching element of one leg and between the high-side switching element and the low-side switching element of the other leg. This AC power is supplied to a primary winding of a transformer 72.
[0024] The transformer 72 has a primary winding, a secondary winding, and a tertiary winding. As described above, the primary winding is supplied with AC power from the first conversion unit 71. A current (alternating current) according to the turn ratio between the primary winding and the secondary winding flows through the secondary winding, and a voltage (alternating voltage) according to the turn ratio between the primary winding and the secondary winding is generated.
[0025] The second conversion unit 73 rectifies the AC power from the secondary winding of the transformer 72 and converts it into DC power that can charge the battery 2. The second conversion unit 73 is configured with one leg including a high-side switching element and a low-side switching element connected in series with each other. These switching elements are, for example, n-type MOS-FETs.
[0026] The second conversion unit 73 receives AC power from the secondary winding across between the high-side switching element and the low-side switching element of one leg and between the high-side switching element and the low-side switching element of the other leg.
[0027] The second conversion unit 73 is driven by sequentially switching between a fifth state in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are closed and the low-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are open, and a sixth state in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are open and the low-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are closed.
[0028] The second conversion unit 73 converts AC power into DC power and outputs the DC power between a high-side power supply line connecting the high-side switching element of one leg with the high-side switching element of the other leg, and a low-side power supply line connecting the low-side switching element of one leg with the low-side switching element of the other leg. This DC power is supplied to the battery 2, which charges the battery 2.
[0029] Here, by setting the turns ratio between the primary winding and the secondary winding of the transformer 72 to correspond to the ratio between the voltage value of the AC voltage applied to the primary winding and the voltage value of the DC voltage used to charge the battery 2, it is possible to generate DC power (e.g., 200 V) suitable for charging the battery 2 from the second conversion unit 73, and charge the battery 2.
[0030] An inverter 91 is connected to the battery 2. The inverter 91 drives a motor 92 based on the DC power of the battery 2.
[0031] A current (alternating current) according to the turn ratio between the primary winding and the tertiary winding flows through the tertiary winding of the transformer 72, and a voltage (alternating voltage) according to the turn ratio between the primary winding and the tertiary winding is generated. The third conversion unit 82 rectifies the voltage (alternating voltage) generated in the tertiary winding and converts it into DC power composed of a DC voltage with a lower voltage value (for example, 12 V) than the voltage value of the DC voltage output from the second conversion unit 73.
[0032] The third conversion unit 82 can be configured, for example, as a synchronous rectification type converter including a high-side switching element, a low-side switching element, and a reactor coil. The third conversion unit 82 can charge the 12V battery 3 by outputting, for example, a DC voltage of 12V.
[0033] The AC power conversion unit 60 converts the DC power from the battery 2 into AC power of a frequency that can be used as a commercial power source. The DC power from the battery 2 is the DC power charged by the DC power conversion unit 50 described above. The frequency that can be used as a commercial power source is 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The AC power output from the AC power conversion unit 60 is power according to a voltage value (100 V) that can be used by home appliances.
[0034] The DC power from the battery 2 is supplied to the second conversion unit 73. As described above, the second conversion unit 73 is configured to include one pair of legs each including a high-side switching element and a low-side switching element connected in series to each other. The second conversion unit 73 receives DC power between a high-side power supply line in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are connected to each other, and a low-side power supply line in which the low-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are connected to each other.
[0035] Therefore, the second conversion unit 73 is driven by sequentially switching between a seventh state in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are closed and the low-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are open, and an eighth state in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are open and the low-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are closed, thereby supplying AC power to the secondary winding of the transformer 72.
[0036] A current (alternating current) according to the turn ratio between the primary winding and the secondary winding flows through the primary winding of the transformer 72, and a voltage (alternating voltage) according to the turn ratio between the primary winding and the secondary winding is generated. The voltage generated in the primary winding is supplied to the first conversion unit 71.
[0037] The first conversion unit 71 has two legs connected in parallel to a high-side power supply line and a low-side power supply line, and each of the two legs has a high-side switching element and a low-side switching element connected in series. In the first conversion unit 71, a voltage is supplied from a secondary winding between the high-side switching element and the low-side switching element of one leg and between the high-side switching element and the low-side switching element of the other leg.
[0038] Therefore, the first conversion unit 71 is driven by sequentially switching between a ninth state in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are closed and the low-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are open, and a tenth state in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are open and the low-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are closed, thereby supplying DC power to the orthogonal conversion unit 61.
[0039] The orthogonal conversion unit 61 converts DC power into AC power of a frequency that can be used as a commercial power source. The orthogonal conversion unit 61 has two legs connected in parallel to a high-side power supply line and a low-side power supply line, and these two legs each have a high-side switching element and a low-side switching element connected in series. The orthogonal conversion unit 61 supplies DC power between a high-side power supply line where the high-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are connected to each other, and a low-side power supply line where the low-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are connected to each other.
[0040] The orthogonal conversion unit 61 is driven by sequentially switching between an eleventh state in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are closed and the low-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are open, and a twelfth state in which the high-side switching element of one leg and the low-side switching element of the other leg are open and the low-side switching element of one leg and the high-side switching element of the other leg are closed. This allows AC power to be output between the high-side switching element and the low-side switching element of one leg and between the high-side switching element and the low-side switching element of the other leg.
[0041] The switching unit 40 is configured to selectively switch between the output of DC power by the DC power conversion unit 50 and the output of AC power by the AC power conversion unit 60. The switching unit 40 can be configured using, for example, a relay. When the switching unit 40 is operated to connect the 0th terminal and the 1st terminal, the AC / DC conversion unit 51 is electrically connected to the first conversion unit 71, and the AC power supplied from the supply unit 4 can be converted by the AC / DC conversion unit 51 into DC power capable of charging the battery 2. When the switching unit 40 is operated to connect the 0th terminal and the 3rd terminal, the DC / DC conversion unit 61 is electrically connected to the first conversion unit 71, and the AC power (for example, AC power having a voltage value of 100 V effective value) generated based on the DC power from the battery 2 can be taken out from the outlet 5.
[0042] When the DC power converter 50 converts AC power into DC power, the control unit 81 drives the switching elements of the AC / DC converter 51 to switch the AC / DC converter 51 from one of the first and second states to the other, drives the switching elements of the first converter 71 to switch the first converter 71 from one of the third and fourth states to the other, and drives the switching elements of the second converter 73 to switch the second converter 73 from one of the fifth and sixth states to the other. When the battery 3 is charged with DC power from the third converter 82, the control unit 81 drives the switching elements of the third converter 82.
[0043] On the other hand, when the AC power conversion unit 60 converts DC power to AC power, the control unit 81 drives the switching element of the second conversion unit 73 to switch the second conversion unit 73 from one of the seventh and eighth states to the other, drives the switching element of the first conversion unit 71 to switch the first conversion unit 71 from one of the ninth and tenth states to the other, and drives the switching element of the orthogonal conversion unit 61 to switch the orthogonal conversion unit 61 from one of the eleventh and twelfth states to the other.
[0044] 3 shows an example of arrangement of the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 on the substrate 20. An AC input connector 101 is mounted on the substrate 20 and connected to the supply unit 4 via a cable. The AC input connector 101 is electrically connected to the AC / DC conversion unit 51 by a pattern formed on the substrate 20. Although not shown, a filter may be provided between the AC input connector 101 and the AC / DC conversion unit 51.
[0045] The AC / DC conversion unit 51 is electrically connected to the first conversion unit 71 via the switching unit 40. Furthermore, the first conversion unit 71 is electrically connected to the second conversion unit 73 via the transformer 72. The second conversion unit 73 is electrically connected to a first output connector 102 connected to the battery 2 via a cable. Furthermore, the transformer 72 is electrically connected to a third conversion unit 82. The third conversion unit 82 is electrically connected to a second output connector 103 connected to the battery 3 via a cable.
[0046] The switching unit 40 is electrically connected to an orthogonal transformation unit 61. The orthogonal transformation unit 61 is electrically connected to an AC output connector 104 which is connected to an outlet 5 via a cable.
[0047] The AC / DC converter 51, the first converter 71, the second converter 73, and the third converter 82 are each electrically connected to a control unit 81. The control unit 81 is electrically connected to a communication connector 105 that is connected to a higher-level system (not shown) via a cable.
[0048] As described above, the electronic components constituting the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 are mounted on one surface of the substrate 20. The electronic components include the above-mentioned switching elements and transformer 72, as well as resistors and capacitors of each functional unit. As shown in FIG. 1, the substrate 20 is housed in the case body 10.
[0049] A cooling fluid for cooling the battery 2 flows inside the cooling plate 30. The cooling plate 30 has a hollow flow path inside. The cooling fluid flows through this flow path. The cooling fluid is a cooling water such as long-life coolant (LLC), insulating oil such as paraffin, or a refrigerant such as hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) or hydrofluoroolefin (HFO).
[0050] 1, the board 20 is housed in the case body 10 with the battery 2 being in contact with the cooling plate 30 on the other surface of the board 20. The other surface of the board 20 is the surface opposite to the surface on which the electronic components constituting the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 described above are mounted. Therefore, the board 20 is housed in the case body 10 with the surface opposite to the surface on which the electronic components constituting the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 are mounted being in contact with the cooling plate 30. This makes it possible to cool the electronic components constituting the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 via the cooling fluid flowing through the cooling plate 30.
[0051] In this embodiment, the board 20 is housed in the case body 10 with the cooling plate 30 sandwiched between the board 20 and the battery 2. Therefore, one cooling plate 30 can be used to cool both the board 20 and the battery 2, making it possible to reduce the size.
[0052] Other embodiments Next, other embodiments of the battery case 1 will be described.
[0053] In the above embodiment, the board 20 has been described as having electronic components constituting the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 mounted on one surface. However, the electronic components constituting the DC power conversion unit 50 may be mounted on one surface, and the electronic components constituting the AC power conversion unit 60 may be mounted on the other surface. Of course, some of the electronic components constituting the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 may be mounted on one surface, and the remaining electronic components constituting the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 may be mounted on the other surface.
[0054] In the above embodiment, the case body 10 is described as housing the cooling plate 30 through which the cooling fluid flows to cool the battery 2. However, the case body 10 does not necessarily have to house the cooling plate 30.
[0055] In the above embodiment, the substrate 20 has been described as being housed in the case body 10 with the other surface thereof in contact with the cooling plate 30. However, the substrate 20 may be housed in the case body 10 with the other surface thereof not in contact with the cooling plate 30, or may be housed in the case body 10 with the surface on which the electronic components constituting the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 are mounted being in contact with the cooling plate 30.
[0056] In the above embodiment, the board 20 is described as being accommodated in the case body 10 in a state where the board 20 and the battery 2 sandwich the cooling plate 30. However, the board 20 may be accommodated in the case body 10 in a state where the board 20 and the battery 2 are placed on the cooling plate 30. In this case, as shown in FIG. 4, the board 20 may be provided on the front wheel FW side, and the battery 2 may be provided on the rear wheel RW side, or as shown in FIG. 5, the battery 2 may be provided on the front wheel FW side, and the board 20 may be provided on the rear wheel RW side. In addition, the board 20 and the battery 2 may be accommodated in the case body 10 in a state where they are placed on the cooling plate 30 in a state where they are lined up along the vehicle width direction. Furthermore, it is also possible to accommodate the board 20 and the battery 2 in a line up at the bottom of the case body 10, and place the cooling plate 30 on them.
[0057] [Summary of the above embodiment] The above-described battery case 1 will now be outlined.
[0058] (1) The battery case 1 comprises a case body 10 that houses the battery 2, and a single board 20 that is provided with a DC power conversion unit 50 that converts external AC power into DC power that can charge the battery 2, and an AC power conversion unit 60 that converts the DC power from the battery 2 into AC power of a frequency that can be used as a commercial power source, and the board 20 is housed in the case body 10.
[0059] According to this configuration, since the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 are provided on a single board 20, the number of cables and bus bars used can be reduced. Therefore, it is possible to achieve size reduction and cost reduction. In addition, since the number of cables and bus bars used can be reduced, it is possible to reduce the influence of noise. Furthermore, since the board 20 provided with the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 is accommodated in the case body 10 together with the battery 2, the DC power conversion unit 50 used to charge the battery 2 and the AC power conversion unit 60 used to supply power from the battery 2 can be provided near the battery 2. Therefore, the length of the cable electrically connecting the board 20 and the battery 2 can be shortened, making it possible to reduce the influence of noise and reduce the power consumption in the cable.
[0060] (2) In the battery case 1 described in (1), it is preferable that electronic components constituting the DC power conversion unit 50 and the AC power conversion unit 60 are mounted on one surface of the substrate 20.
[0061] According to this configuration, since the electronic components are mounted on one surface of the substrate 20, when the substrate 20 is housed in the case body 10, the other surface on which the electronic components are not mounted can be attached in a state facing the case body 10. Therefore, damage to the electronic components can be prevented.
[0062] (3) In the battery case 1 described in (2), the case body 10 further accommodates a cooling plate 30 through which a cooling fluid for cooling the battery 2 flows, and it is preferable that the substrate 20 is accommodated in the case body 10 with the cooling plate 30 in contact with the other surface of the substrate 20.
[0063] According to this configuration, the cooling plate 30 can be used in combination to cool the battery 2 and the board 20. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the size.
[0064] (4) It is preferable that the battery case 1 described in (3) is housed in the case body 10 with the substrate 20 and the battery 2 sandwiching the cooling plate 30 therebetween, or with the substrate 20 and the battery 2 placed on the cooling plate 30.
[0065] According to this configuration, the board 20 and the battery 2 can be housed in the case body 10 in a state where both are in contact with the cooling plate 30. Therefore, the board 20 and the battery 2 can be more appropriately cooled. [Industrial Applicability]
[0066] The technology according to the present disclosure can be used in a battery case that houses a battery. [Explanation of symbols]
