AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Conventional exhaust passage structures in diaphragm pumps generate high-pitched whistling noises when high-pressure air is exhausted, and reducing the cross-sectional area to prevent noise compromises exhaust capacity.
Method used
The exhaust passage structure incorporates a differential pressure valve with varying cross-sectional areas and a tapered shape to minimize noise while maintaining practical exhaust performance, featuring a smaller downstream portion and larger upstream portion, and a diaphragm that seats on a valve seat to control airflow.
Benefits of technology
Prevents abnormal noises like whistling without compromising exhaust capacity by controlling airflow velocity and minimizing valve vibration, ensuring efficient fluid discharge.

Abstract
To provide an exhaust passage structure capable of preventing noise such as a whistle sound from being generated from an exhaust passage although having practical exhausting performance.SOLUTION: An exhaust passage structure comprises: a pressure chamber 3 where an inflow passage 9 and an outflow passage 10 are opened; and a diaphragm 5 which partitions the pressure chamber 3 into an upstream-side fluid chamber 7 and a downstream-side fluid chamber 8. The exhaust passage structure also comprises: a check valve 11 which makes a fluid flow from the upstream-side fluid chamber 7 to the downstream-side fluid chamber 8; a fine exhaust passage 17 which discharges the fluid from the upstream-side fluid chamber 7; and an exhaust passage 18 which discharges the fluid from the downstream-side fluid chamber 8. A valve seat 19 where the exhaust passage 18 is opened is formed on a wall of the downstream-side fluid chamber 8, and the diaphragm 5 has a valve body 20 seated on the valve seat 19. The valve seat 19 and the diaphragm 5 constitute a differential pressure valve 22 which operates with the differential pressure between the upstream-side fluid chamber 7 and the downstream-side fluid chamber 8. The exhaust passage 18 is different in passage sectional area between a downstream part 18a and a downstream part 18b, and the passage sectional area of the upstream part 18b is larger than that of the downstream part 18a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
