Abstract

The ultrasonic blade includes a body portion defining a top surface, a bottom surface, a first side surface, a second side surface, and a distal surface. In one configuration, first and second concave notches are defined in the body portion to form a ridge extending along a portion of the length of the bottom surface. In another configuration, at least one protrusion projects from the bottom surface and defines an elongated configuration extending lengthwise along a portion of the bottom surface. In another configuration, the bottom surface includes an angled distal section that slopes from a proximal to distal direction toward the top surface such that a distal portion of the body portion tapers in height from a proximal to distal direction, and a ridge projects from the angled distal section of the bottom surface and extends along at least a portion of the length of the bottom surface.
