Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The following relates to wireless communications that include multiple configured grant small data transmission (CG-SDT) configurations. [Background technology]
[0002]
[0002] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content, such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcasts, and the like. These systems may be capable of supporting communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple-access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems, such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) systems, or LTE-A Pro systems, and fifth generation (5G) systems, sometimes referred to as New Radio (NR) systems. These systems may employ technologies such as code division multiple access (CDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA), or discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM), etc. A wireless multiple-access communication system may include one or more network devices or one or more network access nodes, each simultaneously supporting communication for multiple communication devices, which may in some cases be known as user equipment (UE). Summary of the Invention
[0003]
[0003] The described technology relates to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses that support multiple configured permitted small data transmission (CG-SDT) configurations. Generally, the described technology provides that a user equipment (UE) transmits a capability message to a network entity indicating support for multiple CG-SDT configurations. Thus, the UE can receive one or more downlink messages that configure multiple CG-SDT configurations. For example, the network device can transmit an RRC release message that includes an instruction for the UE to transition to a radio resource control (RRC) inactive state and includes multiple CG-SDT configurations multiplexed together. Additionally or alternatively, the network device may transmit a separate downlink message for each CG-SDT configuration, and the final downlink message may include the RRC release message.
[0004]
[0004] In some cases, the UE may determine which of the CG-SDT configurations to use for the CG-SDT based on their respective frequency and time resources. For example, if the respective time and frequency resources for two CG-SDT configurations overlap in time, the UE may determine to transmit a CCCH message using one or both sets of time and frequency resources. Additionally or alternatively, if the respective frequency and time resources for the two CG-SDT configurations do not overlap in time, the UE may transmit the respective CG-SDT according to the two CG-SDT configurations. In some examples, the network device may also transmit a respective RRC configured window for each CG-SDT configuration during which the UE may detect acknowledgment (ACK) or non-ACK (NACK) feedback from the network device. In some cases, the UE may not receive a feedback message from the UE during the RRC configured window. Thus, the UE may autonomously retransmit one or more CG-SDTs using the next available and valid set of CG-SDT resources.
[0005]
[0005] A method is described, which may include receiving one or more downlink messages collectively indicating a set of a plurality of CG-SDT configurations, each of the sets of a plurality of CG-SDT configurations being associated with a respective time and frequency resource in a downlink BWP and an uplink BWP, a downlink bandwidth part (BWP) for a CG-SDT and a configuration for an uplink BWP, transitioning from an RRC connected state based on receiving at least one of the one or more downlink messages, transmitting an initial CG-SDT including at least one common control channel message using time and frequency resources associated with one or more of the sets of a plurality of CG-SDT configurations in an uplink BWP, the one or more of the sets of a plurality of CG-SDT configurations being determined based on a comparison of the respective time and frequency resources associated with the sets of a plurality of CG-SDT configurations, and monitoring a response to the initial CG-SDT in the downlink BWP.

[0007]
[0007] Another apparatus is described. The apparatus may include means for receiving one or more downlink messages collectively indicating a set of a plurality of CG-SDT configurations, each of the sets of a plurality of CG-SDT configurations being associated with a respective time and frequency resource in a downlink BWP and an uplink BWP, a configuration for a downlink BWP and an uplink BWP for a CG-SDT, means for transitioning from an RRC connected state based on receiving at least one of the one or more downlink messages, means for transmitting an initial CG-SDT including at least one common control channel message using time and frequency resources associated with one or more of the sets of a plurality of CG-SDT configurations in an uplink BWP, the one or more of the sets of a plurality of CG-SDT configurations being determined based on a comparison of the respective time and frequency resources associated with the sets of a plurality of CG-SDT configurations, and means for monitoring a response to the initial CG-SDT in the downlink BWP.
[0008]

[0052]
[0068] In some examples of wireless communication, a wireless device (e.g., user equipment (UE)) may transmit a small data transmission (SDT). In some examples of SDT, the UE may transmit one or more uplink messages to a network device while operating out of a radio resource control (RRC) connected state (e.g., in an RRC inactive state or and an RRC idle state). Based on transmitting data from an RRC connected state, the UE may benefit from reduced signaling overhead when compared to data transmission using an RRC connected state. In some examples, the network device may configure the UE with multiple SDT configurations via one or more configured grants (CGs) (e.g., multiple CG-SDT configurations). For example, a first CG-SDT configuration may be associated with a lower coding rate and a higher coding gain to improve reliability of the uplink transmission, and a second CG-SDT configuration may be associated with a higher coding rate to increase data capacity and spectral efficiency for the uplink transmission. In some examples, when a UE is configured with one CG-SDT configuration, the UE may transmit a common control channel (CCCH) message as part of the initial CG-SDT using time and frequency resources associated with the one CG-SDT configuration. The CCCH message may include one or more parameters (e.g., an RRC resume request, one or more SDT bearers, UE assistance information for configured grants, buffer status reports, power headroom reports, measurement reports, a request for on-demand delivery of system information or modified system information, a request for on-demand transmission of DL reference signals, a request for paging restrictions, or an access stratum (AS) security token exchange and validation) used to configure an SDT session with a network device while operating outside of an RRC connected state. However, multiple CG-SDT configurations in a UE may result in ambiguity as to which CG-SDT configuration may be used for transmission of a CCCH message.
[0053]
[0069] According to the techniques described herein, the UE may transmit a capability message to a network device indicating support for multiple CG-SDT configurations. Thus, the UE may receive one or more downlink messages configuring multiple CG-SDT configurations. For example, the network device may transmit an RRC release message that includes an instruction for the UE to transition to an RRC inactive state and includes multiple CG-SDT configurations multiplexed together. Additionally or alternatively, the network device may transmit a separate downlink message for each CG-SDT configuration, and the final downlink message may include the RRC release message.
[0054]
[0070] In some cases, the UE may determine which of the CG-SDT configurations to use for the CG-SDT based on their respective frequency and time resources. For example, if the respective frequency and time resources for two CG-SDT configurations overlap in time, the UE may determine to transmit a CCCH message using one or both sets of time and frequency resources. Additionally or alternatively, if the respective frequency and time resources for two CG-SDT configurations do not overlap in time, the UE may transmit the respective CG-SDT according to the two CG-SDT configurations. In some examples, the network device may also transmit a respective RRC configured window for each CG-SDT configuration during which the UE may detect an acknowledgment (ACK) or non-ACK (NACK) feedback from the network device. In some cases, the UE may not receive a feedback message from the UE during the RRC configured window. Thus, the UE may autonomously retransmit one or more CG-SDTs using the next available and valid set of CG-SDT resources.

Aspects of the present disclosure are further illustrated by and described with reference to SDT bearer configuration, process flows, and CG-SDT resource diagrams. Aspects of the present disclosure are further illustrated by and described with reference to apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, and flow charts relating to multiple CG-SDT configurations.
[0056]
[0072] FIG. 1 illustrates an example of a wireless communication system 100 supporting multiple CG-SDT configurations according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure. The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more network devices 105, one or more UEs 115, and a core network 130. [0058]
[0074] The UEs 115 may be distributed throughout the coverage area 110 of the wireless communication system 100, and each UE 115 may be stationary or mobile or both at different times. For example, a disclosure that the UE 115 is configured to receive information from the network device 105 also discloses that the first network node is configured to receive information from the second network node.In this example, consistent with the present disclosure, the first network node may refer to a first UE 115, a first network device 105, a first apparatus, a first device, or a first computing system configured to receive information, and the second network node may refer to a second UE 115, a second network device 105, a second apparatus, a second device, or a second computing system.
[0060]
[0076] The network devices 105 may communicate with the core network 130, with each other, or with both. The network devices 105 may communicate with each other directly (e.g., directly between the network devices 105), or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 130), or both, via the backhaul links 120 (e.g., via an X2, Xn, or other interface). In some examples, the backhaul links 120 may be or include one or more wireless links.
[0061]
[0077] One or more of the network devices 105 described herein may include or be referred to by one skilled in the art as a base transceiver station, wireless network device, access point, wireless transceiver, Node B, eNodeB (eNodeB, eNB), next generation Node B or giganode B (both of which may be referred to as gNB), Home Node B, Home eNodeB, or other suitable terminology.
[0062]
[0078] The UE 115 may include or be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a handheld device, or a subscriber device, or any other suitable terminology, and a "device" may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. [0063]
[0079] The UEs 115 described herein may be capable of communicating with various types of devices, such as other UEs 115, which may at times act as relays, as well as network devices 105 and network equipment including macro eNBs or gNBs, small cell eNBs or gNBs, or relay network devices, among other examples, as shown in FIG.
[0064]
[0080] The UE 115 and the network device 105 can wirelessly communicate with each other via one or more communication links 125 on one or more carriers. The term “carrier” may refer to a set of radio frequency spectrum resources having a defined physical layer structure for supporting the communication link 125. For example, a carrier used for the communication link 125 may include a portion (e.g., a bandwidth portion (BWP)) of a radio frequency spectrum band that operates according to one or more physical layer channels for a given radio access technology (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-A Pro, NR). Each physical layer channel may carry collection signaling (e.g., synchronization signals, system information), control signaling that coordinates operation on the carrier, user data, or other signaling. The wireless communication system 100 may support communication with the UE 115 using carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. The UE 115 may be configured with multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers according to a carrier aggregation configuration. Carrier aggregation may be used with both frequency division duplexing (FDD) and time division duplexing (TDD) component carriers.
[0065]
[0081] In some examples (e.g., in a carrier aggregation configuration), a carrier may also have collection or control signaling to coordinate operation with respect to other carriers. A carrier may be associated with a frequency channel (e.g., evolved universal mobile telecommunication system terrestrial radio access (E-UTRA) absolute radio frequency channel number (EARFCN)) and may be arranged according to a channel raster for discovery by the UE 115. A carrier may operate in a standalone mode, where initial collection and connection may be made by the UE 115 over the carrier, or the carrier may operate in a non-standalone mode, where a connection is anchored using a different carrier (e.g., of the same or different radio access technology).
[0066]
[0082] The communication links 125 shown in the wireless communication system 100 may include uplink transmissions from the UE 115 to the network device 105 or downlink transmissions from the network device 105 to the UE 115. A carrier may carry downlink or uplink communications (e.g., in FDD mode) or may be configured to carry downlink and uplink communications (e.g., in TDD mode).
[0067]
[0083] A carrier may be associated with a particular bandwidth of the radio frequency spectrum, and in some examples, the carrier bandwidth may be referred to as the carrier or the “system bandwidth” of the wireless communication system 100. For example, the carrier bandwidth may be one of several determined bandwidths for a particular radio access technology carrier (e.g., 1.4, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 40, or 80 megahertz (MHz)). A device (e.g., a network device 105, a UE 115, or both) of the wireless communication system 100 may have a hardware configuration that supports communication on a particular carrier bandwidth or may be configurable to support communication on one of a set of carrier bandwidths. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may include a network device 105 or a UE 115 that supports simultaneous communication via a carrier associated with multiple carrier bandwidths. In some examples, each served UE 115 may be configured to operate over a portion (e.g., a sub-band, BWP) or all of the carrier bandwidth.
[0068]
[0084] A signal waveform transmitted on a carrier may be composed of multiple subcarriers (e.g., using a multi-carrier modulation (MCM) technique such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM)). In a system employing MCM techniques, a resource element may consist of one symbol period (e.g., the duration of one modulation symbol) and one subcarrier, where the symbol period and the subcarrier spacing are inversely related. The number of bits carried by each resource element may depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme, the coding rate of the modulation scheme, or both). Thus, the more resource elements the UE 115 receives and the higher the order of the modulation scheme, the higher the data rate may be for the UE 115. Wireless communication resources may refer to a combination of radio frequency spectrum resources, time resources, and spatial resources (e.g., spatial layers or beams), and the use of multiple spatial layers may further increase data rates or data integrity for communications with UE 115.
[0069]
[0085] The time interval for the network device 105 or UE 115 may be, for example, T s =1 / (Δf max N f ) seconds, where Δf max may represent the maximum supported subcarrier spacing, and N fmay represent the maximum discrete Fourier transform (DFT) size supported. The communication resource time intervals may be organized according to radio frames, each having a specified duration (e.g., 10 milliseconds (ms)). Each radio frame may be identified by a system frame number (SFN) (e.g., ranging from 0 to 1023).
[0070]
[0086] Each frame may include multiple consecutively numbered subframes or slots, and each subframe or slot may have the same duration. In some examples, a frame may be divided (e.g., in the time domain) into subframes, and each subframe may be further divided into several slots. Alternatively, each frame may include a variable number of slots, and the number of slots may depend on the subcarrier spacing. Each slot may include several symbol periods (e.g., depending on the length of a cyclic prefix prepended to each symbol period). In some wireless communications systems 100, a slot may be further divided into multiple minislots containing one or more symbols. Excluding the cyclic prefix, each symbol period may include one or more (e.g., N f The duration of a symbol period may depend on the subcarrier spacing or the frequency band of operation.
[0071]
[0087] A subframe, slot, minislot, or symbol may be the smallest scheduling unit (e.g., in the time domain) of the wireless communications system 100 and may be referred to as a transmission time interval (TTI). In some examples, the TTI duration (e.g., the number of symbol periods in a TTI) may be variable. Additionally or alternatively, the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communications system 100 may be dynamically selected (e.g., within a burst of shortened TTIs (sTTIs)).
[0072]
[0088] The physical channels may be multiplexed on the carriers according to various techniques. The physical control channels and the physical data channels may be multiplexed on the downlink carriers using, for example, one or more of a time division multiplexing (TDM) technique, a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique, or a hybrid TDM-FDM technique. A control region (e.g., a control resource set (CORESET)) for the physical control channels may be defined by a number of symbol periods and may extend across the system bandwidth of the carrier or a subset of the system bandwidth. One or more control regions (e.g., CORESET) may be configured for a set of UEs 115. For example, one or more of the UEs 115 may monitor or search the control region for control information according to one or more search space sets, and each search space set may include one or more control channel candidates at one or more aggregation levels configured in a cascaded manner. The aggregation level for control channel candidates may refer to a number of control channel resources (e.g., control channel elements (CCEs)) associated with coded information for a control information format having a given payload size. The search space sets may include a common search space set configured for sending control information to multiple UEs 115 and a UE-specific search space set for sending control information to a specific UE 115.
[0073]
[0089] The wireless communication system 100 may be configured to support ultra-reliable or low-latency communications, or various combinations thereof. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may be configured to support ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC). The UEs 115 may be designed to support ultra-reliable, low-latency, or critical functions. Ultra-reliable communications may include private or group communications and may be supported by one or more services, such as push-to-talk, video, data, etc. Support for ultra-reliable, low-latency functionality may include service prioritization, and such services may be used for public safety or general commercial applications. The terms ultra-reliable, low-latency, and ultra-reliable low-latency may be used interchangeably herein.
[0074]
[0090] In some examples, the UE 115 may also be able to communicate directly with other UEs 115 via a device-to-device (D2D) communication link 135 (e.g., using a peer-to-peer (P2P) protocol or a D2D protocol). One or more UEs 115 utilizing D2D communication may be within a geographic coverage area 110 of the network device 105. Other UEs 115 in such a group may be outside the geographic coverage area 110 of the network device 105 or otherwise unable to receive transmissions from the network device 105. In some examples, a group of UEs 115 communicating via D2D communication may utilize a one-to-many (1:M) system in which each UE 115 transmits to every other UE 115 in the group. In some examples, the network device 105 facilitates scheduling of resources for D2D communication. In other cases, D2D communication is performed between UEs 115 without the involvement of the network device 105.
[0075]
[0091] The core network 130 may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 130 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC), which may include at least one control plane entity (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), an access and mobility management function (AMF)) that manages access and mobility, and at least one user plane entity (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a Packet Data Network (PDN) gateway (P-GW), or a user plane function (UPF)) that routes packets or interconnects to external networks. The control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management for UEs 115 served by network devices 105 associated with the core network 130. User IP packets may be forwarded through a user plane entity, which may provide IP address allocation as well as other functions. The user plane entity may be connected to IP services 150 for one or more network operators. The IP services 150 may include access to the Internet, an intranet, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), or packet-switched streaming services.
[0076]
[0092] Some of the network devices, such as the network device 105, may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity 140, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC). Each access network entity 140 may communicate with the UE 115 through one or more other access network transmitting entities 145, which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission / reception points (TRPs). Each access network transmitting entity 145 may include one or more antenna panels. In some configurations, various functions of each access network entity 140 or the network device 105 may be distributed across various network devices (e.g., radio heads and ANCs) or integrated into a single network device (e.g., the network device 105).
[0077]
[0093] The wireless communication system 100 may operate using one or more frequency bands, typically in the range of 300 megahertz (MHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). The 300 MHz to 3 GHz region is commonly known as the ultra-high frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band because the wavelengths range in length from approximately 1 decimeter to 1 meter. Although UHF waves may be blocked or redirected by buildings and environmental features, the waves may penetrate structures well enough for a macrocell to serve UEs 115 located indoors. Transmission of UHF waves may be associated with smaller antennas and shorter distances (e.g., less than 100 kilometers) compared to transmissions using lower frequencies and longer waves in the shortwave (high frequency (HF)) or very high frequency (VHF) portions of the spectrum below 300 MHz.
[0078]
[0094] The wireless communication system 100 may utilize both licensed and unlicensed radio frequency spectrum bands. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may utilize License Assisted Access (LAA), LTE-Unlicensed (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology in an unlicensed band, such as the 5 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band. When operating in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, devices such as the network device 105 and the UE 115 may employ carrier sensing for collision detection and avoidance. In some examples, operation in the unlicensed band may be based on a carrier aggregation configuration in conjunction with a component carrier operating in a licensed band (e.g., LAA). Operation in the unlicensed spectrum may include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, P2P transmissions, or D2D transmissions, among other examples.
[0079]
[0095] The network device 105 or UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas that may be used to employ techniques such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications, or beamforming. The antennas of the network device 105 or UE 115 may be located in one or more antenna arrays or antenna panels that may support MIMO operations or transmit or receive beamforming. For example, one or more network device antennas or antenna arrays may be co-located in an antenna assembly such as an antenna tower. In some examples, the antennas or antenna arrays associated with the network device 105 may be located in various geographic locations. The network device 105 may have an antenna array with several rows and columns of antenna ports that the network device 105 may use to support beamforming of communications with the UE 115. Similarly, the UE 115 may have one or more antenna arrays that may support various MIMO or beamforming operations. Additionally or alternatively, the antenna panels may support radio frequency beamforming for signals transmitted through the antenna ports.
[0080]
[0096] Beamforming, which may also be referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception, is a signal processing technique that may be used in a transmitting or receiving device (e.g., network device 105, UE 115) to shape or steer an antenna beam (e.g., transmit beam, receive beam) along a spatial path between the transmitting device and the receiving device. Beamforming may be achieved by combining signals communicated through antenna elements of an antenna array such that some signals propagating in a particular orientation relative to the antenna array are subject to constructive interference, while other signals are subject to destructive interference. Adjustment of signals communicated through antenna elements may include a transmitting or receiving device applying an amplitude offset, a phase offset, or both to signals conveyed through an antenna element associated with the device. The adjustment associated with each of the antenna elements may be defined by a beamforming weight set associated with a particular orientation (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting or receiving device, or to some other orientation).
[0081]
[0097] The UE 115 and the network device 105 may support retransmission of data to increase the likelihood that the data is successfully received. Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) feedback is one technique for increasing the likelihood that the data is correctly received on the communication link 125. HARQ may include a combination of error detection (e.g., using a cyclic redundancy check (CRC)), forward error correction (FEC), and retransmission (e.g., automatic repeat request (ARQ)). HARQ may improve throughput at the MAC layer in poor radio conditions (e.g., low signal-to-noise conditions). In some examples, the device may support same-slot HARQ feedback, in which the device may provide HARQ feedback in a particular slot for data received in a previous symbol in that slot. In other cases, the device may provide HARQ feedback in a subsequent slot or according to some other time interval.
[0082]
[0098] In some examples of wireless communication, the UE 115 may transmit an SDT to the network device 105. In some examples of the SDT, the UE 115 may transmit one or more uplink messages to the network device 105 while operating out of an RRC connected state (e.g., in an RRC inactive state or an RRC idle state). In some examples, the network device may configure the UE 115 with multiple SDT configurations via one or more configured grants (CGs) (e.g., multiple CG-SDT configurations). For example, a first CG-SDT configuration may be associated with a lower coding rate and a higher coding gain to improve reliability of the uplink transmission, and a second CG-SDT configuration may be associated with a higher coding rate to increase data capacity and spectral efficiency for the uplink transmission. In some examples, when the UE is configured with one CG-SDT configuration, the UE may transmit a CCCH message as part of the initial CG-SDT using the time and frequency resources associated with the one CG-SDT configuration.
[0083]
[0099] According to the techniques described herein, the UE may transmit a capability message to a network entity indicating support for multiple CG-SDT configurations. Thus, the UE may receive one or more downlink messages configuring multiple CG-SDT configurations. For example, the network device may transmit an RRC release message that includes an instruction for the UE to transition to an RRC inactive state and includes multiple CG-SDT configurations multiplexed together. Additionally or alternatively, the network entity may transmit a separate downlink message for each CG-SDT configuration, and the final downlink message may include the RRC release message.
[0084]
[0100] In some cases, the UE may determine which of the CG-SDT configurations to use for the CG-SDT based on their respective frequency and time resources. In some examples, the network entity may also transmit a respective RRC configured window for each CG-SDT configuration during which the UE may monitor feedback (e.g., ACK or NACK feedback) from the network device. In some cases, the UE may not receive a feedback message from the UE during the RRC configured window. Thus, the UE may autonomously retransmit one or more CG-SDTs using the next available and valid set of CG-SDT resources.
[0085]
[0101] 2 illustrates an example of a wireless communication system 200 supporting multiple CG-SDT configurations according to aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the wireless communication system 200 may implement one or more aspects of the wireless communication system 100. For example, the UE 115-a, the network device 105-a, and the geographic coverage area 110-a may be examples of the UE 115, the network device 105, and the geographic coverage area 110, respectively, described with reference to FIG. 1. Although examples are discussed herein, any number of devices and device types may be used to achieve the implementations described in the disclosure. The wireless communication system 200 may support techniques for improving the use of multiple CG-SDT configurations in the UE 115-a during an SDT session.
[0086]
[0102] In some examples of the wireless communication system 200, the UE 115-a may communicate with the network device 105-a while operating in accordance with the RRC connected state 210. While operating in the RRC connected state 210, the UE 115-a may receive a CG-SDT configuration message 205 from the network device 105-a. For example, the CG-SDT configuration message 205 may configure the UE 115-a with CG resources for use when the UE 115-a performs SDT. In some cases, the CG-SDT configuration message 205 may be an example of an RRC release message that may include an RRC suspend configuration (e.g., SuspendConfig) indicating that the UE 115-a transitions from the RRC connected state 210. Thus, the UE 115-a may transition to an RRC inactive state 215 or an RRC idle state 220 based on receiving the RRC release message.
[0087]
[0103] Based on transitioning out of the RRC connected state 210, the UE 115-a may also release one or more operations associated with the RRC connected state. For example, the UE 115-a support for MIMO operation and carrier aggregation in the RRC connected state 210 may also be released. In some cases, the UE 115-a may perform one or more uplink transmissions while operating outside the RRC connected state 210 by configuring an SDT session with the network device 105-a. For example, the UE 115-a may transmit an initial CG-SDT message 225 to initiate an SDT session with the network device 105-a, which may include an RRC resume request (e.g., a CCCH message), uplink data, and a signaling radio bearer (SRB) used for transmitting RRC messages (e.g., SRB1 and SRB2). In some examples, the UE 115-a may transmit the initial CG-SDT message 225 using CG resources configured in the CG-SDT configuration message 205.
[0088]
[0104] Thus, the network device 105-a may receive the initial CG-SDT message 225 and transmit the feedback message 230 in response. In some examples, the feedback message 230 may indicate successful reception of the CCCH message included in the initial CG-SDT message 225. Based on receiving the feedback message 230, the UE 115-a and the network device 105-a may perform one or more subsequent SDTs. For example, the UE 115-a may transmit uplink data 235 and receive downlink data 240 from the network device 105-a while operating outside of the RRC connected state. In some examples, the UE 115-a and the network device 105-a may terminate the SDT session based on the UE 115-a receiving an RRC release message 245 from the network device 105-a. In some examples, the RRC release message 245 may indicate the UE 115-a transitioning back to the RRC connected state 210. By transmitting the SDT while operating outside the RRC connected state, the UE 115-a may benefit from power savings, reduced spectral efficiency, reduced signaling overhead, and reduced latency.
[0089]
[0105] In some examples of the wireless communication system 200, the network may support multiple CG-SDT configurations and multiple HARQ processes for a given carrier. For example, the first and second CG-SDT configurations may use overlapping radio resources having different frequency bandwidths or different time resources. Thus, the network device 105-a may include multiple CG-SDT configurations associated with respective frequency and time resources in the CG-SDT configuration message 205. In some cases, the UE 115-a may use a given CG-SDT configuration from the multiple CG-SDT configurations based on the configuration of the uplink data 235 to be transmitted, the channel characteristics, or a combination thereof. For example, the UE 115-a may use a first CG-SDT configuration for a relatively lower coding rate and a relatively higher coding gain to improve reliability of the data transmission. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115-a may use a second CG-SDT configuration for a relatively higher coding rate to transmit a larger amount of data in a shorter amount of time to increase spectral efficiency.

[0106] To initiate an SDT session based on CG, the UE 115-a may include a CCCH message (e.g., RRCResumeRequest with UE ID) in an initial CG-SDT message 225 and wait for a response (e.g., feedback message 230) from the network device 105-a. In some examples, the CCCH message may set up a connection between the UE 115-a and the network device 105-a for the user plane (e.g., data radio bearer (DRB)) and AS security token exchange and validation (e.g., SRB). Additionally or alternatively, the CCCH message may include uplink data associated with the UE 115-a from the user plane. Based on the initial CG-SDT message 225 including the CCCH message, the UE may refrain from including additional CCCH during subsequent uplink transmissions (e.g., in the uplink data 235). Thus, the UE 115-a may refrain from transmitting uplink data 235 until the UE 115-a receives a feedback message 230 indicating that the CCCH message was successfully received at the network device 105-a. In some cases, the network device 105-a may send a dynamic grant (DG) in the feedback message 230 indicating that the UE retransmit the initial CG-SDT message 225. In such a case, the UE 115-a may send a retransmission of the initial CG-SDT message 225 based on receiving the DG, which may increase the reliability of the SDT connection setup.
[0091]
[0107] In some cases, the UE 115-a may utilize multiple CG-SDT configurations and multiple HARQ processes during one or more SDT sessions, and thus may utilize one or more techniques described herein to increase CG-SDT reliability. In some examples, the UE 115-a may transmit a capability message (not shown in FIG. 2) indicating support for multiple CG-SDT configurations, and receive one or more CG-SDT configuration messages based on transmitting the capability message, as described herein, including with reference to FIGs. 4-6.
[0092]
[0108] In some examples, the network device 105-a may transmit CG-SDT configurations that overlap in time, and the UE 115-a may operate in accordance with the techniques described with reference to FIG.
[0093]
[0109] In some examples, the network device 105-a may transmit CG-SDT configurations that do not overlap in time, and the UE 115-a may operate in accordance with the techniques described with reference to Figures 8 and 9.
[0094]
[0110] In some examples, the UE 115-a may not receive a feedback message 230 for the initial CG-SDT message 225 during the configured window and may operate according to the techniques described with reference to FIG. 10.
[0095]
[0111] FIG. 3 illustrates exemplary examples of SDT bearer configurations 300-a and 300-b supporting multiple CG-SDT configurations according to aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the SDT bearer configurations 300-a and 300-b may implement one or more aspects of the wireless communication system 100, the wireless communication system 200, or a combination thereof. For example, the SDT bearers 305-a and 305-b and the CG-SDT configurations 310-a and 310-b may be examples of SDT bearers and CG-SDT configurations, respectively, as described with reference to FIG. 2. Although examples are discussed herein, any number of devices and device types may be used to achieve the implementations described in the disclosure. The SDT bearer configuration 300-a may support techniques for multiple CG-SDT configurations 310 associated with the same SDT bearer 305. The SDT bearer configuration 300-b may support techniques for multiple CG-SDT configurations 310 associated with each SDT bearer 305.
[0096]
[0112] In some examples of the SDT bearer configuration 300-a, the network device 105 may configure the UE 115 (not shown in FIG. 3) with multiple CG-SDT configurations 310 associated with the same SDT bearer 305. For example, the CG-SDT configuration 310-a and the CG-SDT configuration 310-b may each be associated with the SDT bearer 305-a. The SDT bearer 305-a may be used for data associated with the UE 115 from the user plane, from the control plane, or both.
[0097]
[0113] In some examples of SDT bearer configurations 300-b, the network device 105 may configure the UE 115 (not shown in FIG. 3 ) with multiple CG-SDT configurations 310 associated with respective SDT bearers 305. For example, the CG-SDT configuration 310-a may be associated with the SDT bearer 305-a, and the CG-SDT configuration 310-b may be associated with the SDT bearer 305-b. Both the SDT bearers 305-a and 305-b may be used for data associated with the UE 115 from the user plane, from the control plane, or both.
[0098]
[0114] In some examples of both SDT bearer configurations 300-a and 300-b, each of the CG-SDT configurations 310 may include a respective time and frequency resource allocation, a periodicity identifier, a scrambling identifier, a modulation coding scheme (MCS), a transport block size (TBS), a repetition indication, slot aggregation, frequency hopping, demodulation reference signal (DMRS) bundling, procedures, timers and RRC parameters associated with timing advance (TA) validation, CG-SDT resource selection and resource validation, one or more HARQ processes, SDT failure detection, a search space set (e.g., a control resource set (CORESET)) for downlink control information (DCI), or combinations thereof. Additionally or alternatively, each of the CG-SDT configurations 310 may also include one or more reference signal resources for quasi co-location (QCL), one or more spatial relationships, TA verification, measurement, tracking loops, automatic gain control (AGC), or combinations thereof.
[0099]
[0115] FIG. 4 illustrates an example of a process flow 400 supporting multiple CG-SDT configurations according to aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the process flow 400 may be implemented in aspects of the wireless communication system 100, the wireless communication system 200, or a combination thereof. The process flow 400 includes a UE 115-b and a network device 105-b, which may be examples of the UE 115 and the network device 105, respectively, as described with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2. The following alternative examples may be implemented, in which some steps are performed in a different order than described, or are not performed at all. In some cases, the steps may include additional features not mentioned below, or further steps may be added. In addition, although the process flow 400 illustrates processes between a single UE 115 and a single network device 105, it should be understood that these processes may occur between any number of network devices and network device types.
[0100]
[0116] At 405, the UE 115-b may operate according to an RRC connected state. For example, while operating in the RRC connected state, the UE 115-b may transmit uplink control information (e.g., via a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH)) and uplink data (e.g., via a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH)) to the network device 105-b. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115-b may also receive downlink control data (e.g., via a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH)) and downlink data (e.g., via a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH)) from the network device 105-b.
[0101]
[0117] At 410, the UE 115-b may send a CG-SDT capability message. In some examples, the CG-SDT capability message may indicate support for multiple CG-SDT configurations in the UE 115-b.
[0102]
[0118] At 415, the UE 115-b may receive an RRC message (e.g., an RRCRelease message with SuspendConfig) from the network device 105-b while operating according to the RRC connected state. In some examples, the RRC message may also include multiple CG-SDT configurations for use at the UE 115-b for CG-SDT. In such examples, the multiple CG-SDT configurations may be multiplexed in the RRC message. In some cases, receiving the RRC message and the RRCRelease message including the multiplexed CG-SDT configurations may be based on the UE 115-b sending a capability message at 410.
[0103]
[0119] At 420, the UE 115-b may transition from the RRC connected state based on receiving the RRCRelease message included in the RRC message at 415.
[0104]
[0120] At 425, the UE 115-b may transmit an initial CG-SDT message including at least one CCCH message to the network device 105-b using time and frequency resources associated with one or more of the multiplexed CG-SDT configurations received at 415. The UE 115-b may determine which of the one or more multiplexed CG-SDT configurations to use for the initial CG-SDT message based on a comparison of the respective time and frequency resources associated with each of the multiplexed CG-SDT configurations.
[0105]
[0121] At 430, the UE 115-b may receive a feedback message from the network device 105-b in response to the initial CG-SDT message. In some examples, the feedback message may include an ACK message (e.g., implicitly or explicitly identified by the UE 115-b) that may indicate to the UE 115-b successful receipt of the initial CG-SDT message. Additionally or alternatively, the feedback message may include a DG (e.g., explicitly identified by the UE 115-b by monitoring a PDCCH configured by the network device 105-b) that may indicate to the UE 115-b that the network device 105-b did not receive the initial CG-SDT message. In some cases, the UE 115-b may use the DG to retransmit the initial CG-SDT message to the network device 105-b.
[0106]
[0122] At 435, the UE 115-b may transmit subsequent CG-SDT data to the network device 105-b based on the feedback message including the ACK message at 430. In some examples, the UE 115-d may use time and frequency resources associated with multiple CG-SDT configurations to transmit the subsequent CG-SDT data.
[0107]
[0123] FIG. 5 illustrates an example of a process flow 500 supporting multiple CG-SDT configurations according to aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the process flow 500 can be implemented in aspects of the wireless communication system 100, the wireless communication system 200, or a combination thereof. The process flow 500 includes a UE 115-c and a network device 105-c, which may be examples of the UE 115 and the network device 105, respectively, as described with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2. The following alternative examples may be implemented, in which some steps are performed in a different order than described, or are not performed at all. In some cases, the steps may include additional features not mentioned below, or further steps may be added. In addition, although the process flow 500 illustrates processes between a single UE 115 and a single network device 105, it should be understood that these processes may occur between any number of network devices and network device types.
[0108]
[0124] At 505, the UE 115-c may operate according to an RRC connected state. For example, while operating in the RRC connected state, the UE 115-c may transmit uplink control information (e.g., via a PUCCH) and transmit uplink data (e.g., via a PUSCH) to the network device 105-c. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115-c may also receive downlink control data (e.g., via a PDCCH) and downlink data (e.g., via a PDSCH) from the network device 105-c.
[0109]
[0125] At 510, the UE 115-c may send a CG-SDT capability message. In some examples, the CG-SDT capability message may indicate support for multiple CG-SDT configurations in the UE 115-c.
[0110]
[0126] At 515, the UE 115-c may receive one or more RRC messages from the network device 105-c, each RRC message may include a respective CG-SDT configuration for use at the UE 115-c. At 520, the UE may receive an Nth RRC message including the Nth CG-SDT configuration and an RRCRelease message with SuspendConfig.
[0111]
[0127] At 525, the UE 115-c may transition from the RRC Connected state based on receiving the Nth RRC message at 520, which includes the RRCRelease message with SuspendConfig.
[0112]
[0128] At 530, the UE 115-c may transmit an initial CG-SDT message including at least one CCCH message to the network device 105-c using time and frequency resources associated with one or more of the CG-SDT configurations received at 515 and 520. The UE 115-c may determine which of the one or more CG-SDT configurations to use for the initial CG-SDT message based on a comparison of the respective time and frequency resources associated with each of the CG-SDT configurations.
[0113]
[0129] At 530, the UE 115-c may receive a feedback message from the network device 105-c in response to the initial CG-SDT message. In some examples, the feedback message may include an ACK message (e.g., implicitly or explicitly identified by the UE 115-c) that may indicate to the UE 115-c successful receipt of the initial CG-SDT message. Additionally or alternatively, the feedback message may include a DG (e.g., explicitly identified by the UE 115-c by monitoring a PDCCH configured by the network device 105-c) that may indicate to the UE 115-c that the network device 105-c did not receive the initial CG-SDT message. In some cases, the UE 115-c may use the DG to retransmit the initial CG-SDT message to the network device 105-c.
[0114]
[0130] At 535, the UE 115-c may transmit subsequent CG-SDT data to the network device 105-c based on the feedback message including the ACK message at 530. In some examples, the UE 115-d may use time and frequency resources associated with multiple CG-SDT configurations to transmit the subsequent CG-SDT data.
[0115]
[0131] FIG. 6 illustrates an example of a process flow 600 supporting multiple CG-SDT configurations according to aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the process flow 600 may be implemented in aspects of the wireless communication system 100, the wireless communication system 200, or a combination thereof. The process flow 600 includes a UE 115-d and a network device 105-d, which may be examples of the UE 115 and the network device 105, respectively, as described with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2. The following alternative examples may be implemented, in which some steps are performed in a different order than described, or are not performed at all. In some cases, the steps may include additional features not mentioned below, or further steps may be added. In addition, while the process flow 600 illustrates processes between a single UE 115 and a single network device 105, it should be understood that these processes may occur between any number of network devices and network device types.
[0116]
[0132] At 605, the UE 115-d may operate according to an RRC connected state. For example, while operating in the RRC connected state, the UE 115-d may transmit uplink control information (e.g., via a PUCCH) and transmit uplink data (e.g., via a PUSCH) to the network device 105-d. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115-d may also receive downlink control data (e.g., via a PDCCH) and downlink data (e.g., via a PDSCH) from the network device 105-d.
[0117]
[0133] At 610, the UE 115-d may send a CG-SDT capability message. In some examples, the CG-SDT capability message may indicate support for multiple CG-SDT configurations in the UE 115-d.
[0118]
[0134] At 615, the UE 115-d may receive one or more RRC messages from the network device 105-d. In some examples, the UE 115-d may receive one RRC message including an RRCRelease message with SuspendConfig and multiple multiplexed CG-SDT configurations for use at the UE 115-d, as described with reference to FIG. 4. In some examples, the UE 115-d may receive one or more RRC messages, as described with reference to FIG. 5, where each RRC message may include a respective CG-SDT configuration for use at the UE 115-d, and the Nth CG-SDT configuration may include an RRCRelease message with SuspendConfig.
[0119]
[0135] At 620, the UE 115-d may transition out of the RRC Connected state based on receiving the RRCRelease message with SuspendConfig at 615.
[0120]
[0136] At 625, the UE 115-d may transmit an initial CG-SDT message including at least one CCCH message to the network device 105-d using time and frequency resources associated with one or more of the CG-SDT configurations received at 615. The UE 115-d may determine which of the one or more CG-SDT configurations to use for the initial CG-SDT message based on a comparison of the respective time and frequency resources associated with each of the CG-SDT configurations.
[0121]
[0137] At 630, the UE 115-d may receive a feedback message from the network device 105-d in response to the initial CG-SDT message. In some examples, the feedback message may include an ACK message (e.g., implicitly or explicitly identified by the UE 115-d) that may indicate to the UE 115-d successful receipt of the initial CG-SDT message. Additionally or alternatively, the feedback message may include a DG (e.g., explicitly identified by the UE 115-d by monitoring a PDCCH configured by the network device 105-d) that may indicate to the UE 115-d that the network device 105-d did not receive the initial CG-SDT message. In some cases, the UE 115-d may use the DG to retransmit the initial CG-SDT message to the network device 105-d.
[0122]
[0138] At 635, the UE 115-d may transmit subsequent CG-SDT data to the network device 105-d based on the feedback message including the ACK message at 630. In some examples, the UE 115-d may use time and frequency resources associated with multiple CG-SDT configurations to transmit the subsequent CG-SDT data.
[0123]
[0139] At 640, the UE 115-d may receive a response to the subsequent CG-SDT data message, which may include the additional CG-SDT configuration while the UE 115-d is operating outside of the RRC connected state. In some examples, the network may include the additional CG-SDT configuration based on a quality parameter associated with receiving the subsequent CG-SDT data at 635. For example, the network device 105-d may determine that a channel quality associated with the subsequent CG-SDT data falls below a configured quality threshold or that a buffer associated with the UE 115-d exceeds a configured threshold. Thus, the network device may send the additional CG-SDT configuration to configure the UE 115-d with the additional SDT resources. In some examples, the response message may be an RRC message indicating to change or modify the current CG-SDT configuration at the UE 115-d. In some examples, the UE 115-d may receive the response message by monitoring a PDCCH in a search space configured by the network device 105-d at 615.
[0124]
[0140] FIG. 7 illustrates examples of CG-SDT resource diagrams 700-a and 700-b supporting multiple CG-SDT configurations according to aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the CG-SDT resource diagrams 700-a and 700-b can implement one or more aspects of the wireless communication systems 100 and 200, the process flows 400-600, or combinations thereof. For example, the CG-SDT configurations 715-a and 715-b can be examples of the CG-SDT configurations described with reference to FIGS. 2-6. Although examples are discussed herein, any number of devices and device types can be used to achieve the implementations described in the disclosure. The CG-SDT resource diagrams 700-a and 700-b can support techniques for the UE 115 to determine a set of resources to use for an initial CG-SDT message when the UE 115 is configured with multiple CG-SDT configurations 715.
[0125]
[0141] Based on the UE 115 transitioning from the RRC connected state, the UE 115 may determine to transmit an initial CG-SDT message including a CCCH to set up one or more SDT bearers and AS security token exchange and validation. As shown with reference to CG-SDT resource diagrams 700-a and 700-b, the network device 105 may configure the UE 115 with multiple CG-SDT configurations 715 (e.g., CG-SDT configurations 715-a and 715-b) having at least partially overlapping frequency 705 and time 710 resources at time 710. Thus, the UE 115 may transmit an initial CG-SDT message to the network device 105 in accordance with the techniques described with reference to the CG-SDT resource diagram 700-a, the CG-SDT resource diagram 700-b, or both.
[0126]
[0142] According to the techniques described with reference to CG-SDT resource diagram 700-a, UE 115 can determine to include a CCCH message in the initial CG-SDT transmission and associated retransmissions for both CG-SDT configurations 715-a and 715-b. Thus, the initial CG-SDT transmissions for both CG-SDT configurations 715-a and 715-b can be associated with the same uplink HARQ process of the CG-SDT. In some examples, the initial CG-SDT transmissions for both CG-SDT configurations 715-a and 715-b can include the same content, the content being transmitted on resources associated with the respective CG-SDT configurations.
[0127]
[0143] In accordance with the techniques described with reference to CG-SDT resource diagram 700-b, UE 115 may determine to include a CCCH message in the initial CG-SDT transmission and associated retransmissions for either CG-SDT configuration 715-a or CG-SDT configuration 715-b, but may refrain from including a CCCH message in both. For example, as shown in CG-SDT resource diagram 700-b, UE 115 determines to include a CCCH in the initial CG-SDT transmission associated with CG-SDT configuration 715-a and refrains from including a CCCH in the initial CG-SDT transmission associated with CG-SDT configuration 715-b. Thus, the initial CG-SDT transmission associated with CG-SDT configuration 715-a may be associated with the first uplink process of the CG-SDT.
[0128]
[0144] FIG. 8 illustrates an example of a process flow 800 supporting multiple CG-SDT configurations according to aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the process flow 800 can implement one or more aspects of the wireless communication systems 100 and 200, the process flows 400-600, or combinations thereof. The process flow 800 includes a UE 115-e and a network device 105-e, which may be examples of 115 and network device 105, respectively, as described with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2. The following alternative examples may be implemented, in which some steps are performed in a different order than described, or not performed at all. In some cases, the steps may include additional features not mentioned below, or further steps may be added. In addition, although the process flow 800 illustrates processes between a single UE 115 and a single network device 105, it should be understood that these processes may occur between any number of network devices and network device types.
[0129]
[0145] At 805, the UE 115-e may operate according to an RRC connected state. For example, while operating in the RRC connected state, the UE 115-e may transmit uplink control information (e.g., via a PUCCH) and transmit uplink data (e.g., via a PUSCH) to the network device 105-e. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115-e may also receive downlink control data (e.g., via a PDCCH) and downlink data (e.g., via a PDSCH) from the network device 105-e.
[0130]
[0146] At 810, the UE 115-e may receive a RRCRelease message from the network device 105-e having a SuspendConfig. In some examples, the UE 115-e may receive the RRCRelease message in at least one RRC message that includes one or more CG-SDT configurations for use at the UE 115-e in accordance with the techniques described herein, including with reference to FIGS.
[0131]
[0147] At 815, the UE 115-e may transition from the RRC connected state based on receiving the RRCRelease message at 810.
[0132]
[0148] At 820, the UE 115-e may transmit a first initial CG-SDT message for the first CG-SDT configuration including the CCCH message. In some examples, the UE 115-e may transmit the initial CG-SDT using time and frequency resources associated with the first CG-SDT configuration.
[0133]
[0149] At 825, if the UE 115-e does not receive a feedback message in response to the initial CG-SDT message transmitted at 820, the UE 115-e may perform one or more retransmissions of the first initial CG-SDT message for the first CG-SDT configuration that includes the CCCH message. In some examples, the UE 115-e may continue to retransmit the first initial CG-SDT message until the UE 115-e receives an ACK feedback message in response thereto.
[0134]
[0150] At 830, the UE 115-e may receive an ACK feedback message in response to transmitting the first initial CG-SDT message.
[0135]
[0151] At 835, the UE 115-e may transmit a second CG-SDT message without a CCCH message using time and frequency resources associated with the second CG-SDT configuration. The UE 115-e may refrain from including a CCCH message in the second CG-SDT message based on receiving an ACK feedback message in response to transmitting the first initial CG-SDT message.
[0136]
[0152] FIG. 9 illustrates an example of a process flow 900 supporting multiple CG-SDT configurations according to aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the process flow 800 can implement one or more aspects of the wireless communication systems 100 and 200, the process flows 400-600, or combinations thereof. The process flow 900 includes a UE 115-f and a network device 105-f, which may be examples of 115 and network device 105, respectively, as described with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2. The following alternative examples may be implemented, in which some steps are performed in a different order than described, or not performed at all. In some cases, the steps may include additional features not mentioned below, or further steps may be added. In addition, although the process flow 900 illustrates processes between a single UE 115 and a single network device 105, it should be understood that these processes may occur between any number of network devices and network device types.
[0137]
[0153] At 905, the UE 115-f may operate according to an RRC connected state. For example, while operating in the RRC connected state, the UE 115-f may transmit uplink control information (e.g., via a PUCCH) and transmit uplink data (e.g., via a PUSCH) to the network device 105-f. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115-f may also receive downlink control data (e.g., via a PDCCH) and downlink data (e.g., via a PDSCH) from the network device 105-f.
[0138]
[0154] At 910, the UE 115-f may receive an RRCRelease message with SuspendConfig from the network device 105-f. In some examples, the UE 115-f may receive the RRCRelease message in at least one RRC message that includes one or more CG-SDT configurations for use at the UE 115-f in accordance with the techniques described herein, including with reference to FIGS.
[0139]
[0155] At 915, the UE 115-f may transition out of the RRC connected state based on receiving the RRCRelease message at 910.
[0140]
[0156] At 920, UE 115-f may transmit a first initial CG-SDT message for the first CG-SDT configuration including the CCCH message. In some examples, UE 115-f may transmit the initial CG-SDT using time and frequency resources associated with the first CG-SDT configuration.
[0141]
[0157] At 925, if UE 115-f does not receive a feedback message in response to the initial CG-SDT message transmitted at 920, UE 115-f may perform one or more retransmissions of the first initial CG-SDT message for the first CG-SDT configuration that includes the CCCH message. In some examples, UE 115-f may continue to retransmit the first initial CG-SDT message until UE 115-f receives an ACK feedback message in response thereto.
[0142]
[0158] At 930, UE 115-f may transmit a second initial CG-SDT message with the CCCH message using time and frequency resources associated with the second CG-SDT configuration. In some examples, UE 115-f may include a CCCH message in the second CG-SDT message based on not receiving an ACK feedback message in response to transmitting the first initial CG-SDT message. In some examples, UE 115-f may include a CCCH message in the second CG-SDT message independent of receiving an ACK feedback message in response to transmitting the first initial CG-SDT message.
[0143]
[0159] At 935, UE 115-f may receive an ACK feedback message in response to the first initial CG-SDT message, the second initial CG-SDT message, or both.
[0144]
[0160] FIG. 10 illustrates an example of a process flow 1000 supporting multiple CG-SDT configurations according to aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the process flow 1000 can implement one or more aspects of the wireless communication systems 100 and 200, the process flows 400-600, or combinations thereof. The process flow 1000 includes a UE 115-g and a network device 105-g, which may be examples of the UE 115 and the network device 105, respectively, as described with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2. The following alternative examples may be implemented, in which some steps are performed in a different order than described, or are not performed at all. In some cases, the steps may include additional features not mentioned below, or further steps may be added. In addition, although the process flow 1000 illustrates processes between a single UE 115 and a single network device 105, it should be understood that these processes may be performed between any number of network devices and network device types.
[0145]
[0161] At 1005, the UE 115-g may operate according to an RRC connected state. For example, while operating in the RRC connected state, the UE 115-g may transmit uplink control information (e.g., via a PUCCH) and transmit uplink data (e.g., via a PUSCH) to the network device 105-g. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115-g may also receive downlink control data (e.g., via a PDCCH) and downlink data (e.g., via a PDSCH) from the network device 105-g.
[0146]
[0162] At 1010, the UE 115-g may receive an RRCRelease message from the network device 105-g having a SuspendConfig. In some examples, the UE 115-g may receive the RRCRelease message in at least one RRC message that includes one or more CG-SDT configurations for use at the UE 115-g in accordance with the techniques described herein, including with reference to FIGS.
[0147]
[0163] At 1015, the UE 115-g may transition out of the RRC connected state based on receiving the RRCRelease message at 1010.
[0148]
[0164] At 1020, the UE 115-g may transmit an initial CG-SDT message for the first CG-SDT configuration including the CCCH message. In some examples, when multiple HARQ processes are configured for CG-SDT in the UE 115-g, the UE 115-g may refrain from triggering multiple HARQ processes in the transmission and retransmission phase of the initial CG-SDT message with CCCH. Thus, the HARQ process associated with the subsequent CG-SDT data may not start before the UE 115-g receives ACK feedback for the initial CG-SDT message with CCCH.
[0149]
[0165] At 1025, the UE 115-g may receive a feedback message in response to the initial CG-SDT message at 1020. For example, the feedback message may be an example of an ACK message (e.g., that the UE 115-g implicitly or explicitly identifies) indicating successful receipt of the initial CG-SDT message including the CCCH at the network device 105-g. Additionally or alternatively, the feedback message may include a DG for use at the UE 115-g in retransmitting the initial CG-SDT message. However, in some examples, the UE 115-g may not receive the feedback message for a defined duration. For example, the RRCRelease message at 1010 may include a CG-SDT message for the respective CG-SDT configuration (e.g., T ConfigA and T ConfigB ), during which the UE 115-g may monitor the PDCCH configured by the network device 105-g for feedback messages.
[0150]
[0166] If the UE 115-g does not receive a feedback message during the RRC configuration window associated with the initial CG-SDT message (e.g., if T ConfigA ), at 1030, the UE 115-g may retransmit the initial CG-SDT message. ConfigA 10, at 1030, UE 115-g may retransmit the initial CG-SDT message associated with the first CG-SDT configuration using resources associated with the second CG-SDT configuration (e.g., ConfigB). Thus, UE 115-g may retransmit the initial CG-SDT message and start an RRC configuration window associated with the CG-SDT resources used (e.g., T ConfigB ).
[0151]
[0167] UE115-g is T ConfigB If no feedback message is received during T ConfigB For example, as shown in FIG. 10, at 1035, UE 115-g may retransmit the initial CG-SDT message associated with the first CG-SDT configuration using the resources associated with the first CG-SDT configuration. Thus, UE 115-g may retransmit the initial CG-SDT message and start an RRC configuration window associated with the CG-SDT resources used (e.g., T ConfigA The techniques described herein may also be generalized to subsequent CG-SDT data transmissions, which may not include CCCH messages, if the UE 115-g receives an ACK message for the initial CG-SDT message.
