One aspect of the present invention provides an augmented reality system for presenting cues to a subject with a walking impairment, the augmented reality system including a display for providing an augmented reality overlay over the subject's field of view, the augmented reality system configured and adapted to: i) generate an interactive media asset for display to the subject; ii) determine a current location of the subject; iii) generate a first virtual asset for display to the subject; iv) determine a position of the first virtual asset relative to the subject's current location; and v) generate at least one cue for display to the subject that functions to prompt the subject to move forward and walk from the subject's current location to the position of the first virtual asset.
