[Prior art documents] [Patent documents]
[0003] [Patent Document 1] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2009-073421 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] In some driving assistance devices, setting information for multiple driving assistance functions installed in a vehicle is stored for each driver. In such driving assistance devices, when a driver drives a vehicle, the driver is authenticated, and the driving assistance functions are activated based on the setting information corresponding to the driver. However, in this case, for example, there is a possibility that driver authentication may fail or that the setting information may be stored incorrectly, which may result in a situation where a driving assistance function that the driver recognizes as being activated is actually not activated and does not operate.
[0005] Therefore, an object of the present disclosure is to provide a driving assistance device, a driving assistance method, and a server that enable the driver to drive a vehicle while correctly recognizing the driving assistance functions that have been set. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] A driving assistance device according to one aspect of the present disclosure is a driving assistance device that assists in driving a vehicle, and when an authentication unit authenticates a driver of the vehicle, obtains setting information from a memory unit regarding the settings of multiple driving assistance functions installed in the vehicle that correspond to the authenticated driver, and sets the operation of the multiple driving assistance functions based on the setting information. [Effects of the Invention]
[0007] According to one aspect of the present disclosure, it is possible to provide a driving assistance device, a driving assistance method, and a server that enable a driver to drive a vehicle while correctly recognizing the driving assistance functions that have been set. [Brief explanation of the drawings]
[0008] [Figure 1] FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing the configuration of a vehicle equipped with a driving assistance device according to an embodiment. [Figure 2] FIG. 2 is a diagram showing an example of a display on the display of the HMI of FIG. [Figure 3] FIG. 3 is a flowchart illustrating an example of processing performed by the driving assistance device of FIG. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0009] Hereinafter, exemplary embodiments will be described with reference to the drawings. In the following description, the same or equivalent elements are designated by the same reference numerals, and redundant description will not be repeated.
[0010] Fig. 1 is a block diagram showing the configuration of a vehicle M equipped with a driving assistance device 100 according to an embodiment. As shown in Fig. 1, the driving assistance device 100 is equipped in the vehicle M, such as a passenger car, and is a device that assists in driving the vehicle M. If the vehicle M is an autonomous vehicle, the driving assistance device 100 may be a device that can realize autonomous driving, or may be a device that can only perform driving assistance for the driver of the vehicle M.
[0011] The driving assistance device 100 includes an ECU (Electronic Control Unit) 10 that manages the entire system. The ECU 10 is an electronic control unit having a CPU (Central Processing Unit), a ROM (Read Only Memory), a RAM (Random Access Memory), and the like. The ECU 10, for example, loads a program stored in the ROM into the RAM and executes the program loaded into the RAM by the CPU, thereby realizing various functions. Some of the functions of the ECU 10 may be executed by a server that can communicate with the vehicle M. The ECU 10 may be composed of multiple electronic units. A driver monitor camera 1, an external sensor 2, an internal sensor 3, a GPS (Global Positioning System) receiving unit 4, a map database 5, a communication unit 6, an HMI 7, and an actuator 8 are connected to the ECU 10.
[0012] The driver monitor camera 1 is installed on the cover of the steering column of the vehicle M in a position in front of the driver of the vehicle M (hereinafter simply referred to as "driver"). The driver monitor camera 1 captures an image of the driver's head. A plurality of driver monitor cameras 1 may be installed to capture images of the driver from multiple directions. The driver monitor camera 1 transmits the captured driver image to the ECU 10.
[0013] The external sensor 2 is a detection device that detects the surrounding environment of the vehicle M. The external sensor 2 includes a camera and a radar sensor. The camera is provided, for example, on the back side of the windshield of the vehicle M and captures images in front of the vehicle M. The camera may also be provided on the rear and side of the vehicle M. The camera transmits image information of the surroundings of the vehicle M to the ECU 10. The camera may be a monocular camera or a stereo camera. The radar sensor is a detection device that detects obstacles in the surroundings of the vehicle M using radio waves (e.g., millimeter waves) or light. The radar sensor includes, for example, millimeter wave radar or lidar. The radar sensor transmits detected obstacle information to the ECU 10.
[0014] The internal sensor 3 is a detection device that detects the traveling state of the vehicle M. The internal sensor 3 includes a vehicle speed sensor, an acceleration sensor, and a yaw rate sensor. The vehicle speed sensor is a detector that detects the speed of the vehicle M. As the vehicle speed sensor, for example, a wheel speed sensor that detects the rotational speed of the wheels is used. The vehicle speed sensor transmits the detected vehicle speed information to the ECU 10. The acceleration sensor is a detector that detects the acceleration of the vehicle M. The acceleration sensor transmits, for example, acceleration information of the vehicle M to the ECU 10. The yaw rate sensor is a detector that detects the yaw rate (rotational angular velocity) around the vertical axis of the center of gravity of the vehicle M. As the yaw rate sensor, for example, a gyro sensor can be used. The yaw rate sensor transmits the detected yaw rate information of the vehicle M to the ECU 10.
[0015] The internal sensor 3 may include at least one of a steering sensor, an accelerator sensor, a brake sensor, and a turn signal sensor. The steering sensor detects the driver's steering operation. The steering sensor transmits the detected steering operation information to the ECU 10. The accelerator sensor detects the driver's accelerator operation. The accelerator sensor transmits the detected accelerator operation information to the ECU 10. The brake sensor detects the driver's brake operation. The brake sensor transmits the detected brake operation information to the ECU 10. The turn signal sensor detects the driver's operation of a turn signal (directional indicator light). The turn signal sensor transmits the detected turn signal operation information to the ECU 10.
[0016] The GPS receiver 4 receives signals from three or more GPS satellites to measure the position of the vehicle M (for example, the latitude and longitude of the vehicle M). The GPS receiver 4 transmits the measured position information of the vehicle M to the ECU 10. Note that the driving assistance device 100 may acquire the position information of the vehicle M by SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) technology using the detection results of the external sensor 2 and map information.
[0017] The map database 5 is a database that stores map information. The map database 5 is formed, for example, in an HDD (Hard Disk Drive) mounted on the vehicle M. The map information includes road position information, road shape information (e.g., curves, types of straight sections, curvature of curves, etc.), road width information, road height information, position information of intersections, junctions and forks, and position information of buildings. The map information may also include position information on objects installed on the road, such as guide boards and signs. The map database 5 may be stored in a computer in a facility, such as a management center, that is capable of communicating with the vehicle M.
[0018] The communication unit 6 is a communication device that controls wireless communication with the outside of the vehicle M. The communication unit 6 communicates various information with a server, for example, via a communication network. The communication unit 6 may also perform vehicle-to-vehicle communication. The communication unit 6 is not particularly limited, and various known communication devices may be used.
[0019] The HMI 7 is an interface for inputting and outputting information to and from the driver. The HMI 7 includes, for example, a display (display unit) visible to the driver and a speaker. The HMI 7 outputs images from the display and sounds from the speaker in response to control signals from the ECU 10. The HMI 7 may also include a HUD (Head Up Display).
[0020] The actuators 8 are devices used to control the vehicle M. The actuators 8 include at least a drive actuator, a brake actuator, and a steering actuator. The drive actuator controls the engine and / or motor as a power source in response to a control signal from the ECU 10, thereby controlling the driving force of the vehicle M. The brake actuator controls the brake system in response to a control signal from the ECU 10, thereby controlling the braking force applied to the wheels of the vehicle M. The steering actuator controls the drive of an assist motor, which controls the steering torque of the electric power steering system, in response to a control signal from the ECU 10. In this way, the steering actuator controls the steering torque of the vehicle M.
[0021] The vehicle M is equipped with a plurality of driving assistance functions. The driving assistance functions are functions that assist the driving of the vehicle M. The driving assistance functions are not particularly limited and may be various assistance functions. The driving assistance functions are realized by the ECU 10 appropriately controlling the actuator 8 and other on-board devices based on input from, for example, at least one of the external sensor 2, the internal sensor 3, the GPS receiver 4, the map database 5, and the communication unit 6. The method for realizing the driving assistance functions is not particularly limited and any known technology can be used.
[0022] The multiple driving assistance functions may include, for example, a collision prevention function that prevents a collision of the vehicle M. The collision prevention function may include an Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) that assists braking when there is a possibility of a collision. The multiple driving assistance functions may include, for example, a Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) that warns of the possibility of lane departure and assists steering to avoid departure.
[0023] The driving assistance functions may include, for example, an adaptive cruise control (ACC) that detects the state of a preceding vehicle and assists in maintaining a safe distance between the vehicle and the preceding vehicle. The driving assistance functions may include, for example, a lane departure alert (LDA) that issues a warning with a buzzer and a display when there is a possibility that the vehicle M may depart from its lane without operating its turn signal. The driving assistance functions may include, for example, an auto high beam (automatic high beam) that detects the brightness ahead of the vehicle M and automatically switches between high beam and low beam.
[0024] The ECU 10 has a memory unit 11, an authentication unit 12, and a display control unit 13. The memory unit 11 stores setting information regarding the current settings of multiple driving assistance functions for each of multiple drivers. The settings of the multiple driving assistance functions can be made, for example, via the HMI 7. The setting information is information regarding setting values regarding whether the driver currently sets each of the multiple driving assistance functions to on (enabled) or off (disabled). The setting information is information regarding customized settings in which the driver customizes the on / off of each driving assistance function. The setting information relates to at least the on / off setting of the collision prevention function. The memory unit 11 stores personal information of multiple drivers. The personal information may include the driver's name or ID (identifier). The personal information can be made, for example, via the HMI 7.
[0025] The memory unit 11 stores history information relating to past driving histories for each of a plurality of drivers. The history information includes information relating to the distance traveled during the driver's previous driving and information relating to the destination of the driver's previous driving. The distance traveled during the previous driving is, for example, the distance traveled from when the ignition switch or power switch of the vehicle M was turned on to when it was turned off during the previous driving. The destination of the previous driving is, for example, the destination set via the HMI 7 during the previous driving, or the position of the vehicle M measured by the GPS receiver unit 4 when the ignition switch or power switch was turned off during the previous driving. The history information may also include information relating to other driving histories.
[0026] The authentication unit 12 detects facial features from an image of the driver captured by the driver monitor camera 1, and authenticates the driver based on the detection result. The method for authenticating the driver is not particularly limited, and various methods can be applied. The authentication unit 12 starts authenticating the driver when the ignition switch or power switch of the vehicle M is turned on. Note that the authentication unit 12 may be provided not in the vehicle M, but on a cloud that can be communicated with by the communication unit 6. The authentication unit 12 stores authentication time information related to the date and time when the driver was authenticated in the memory unit 11.
[0027] When the authentication unit 12 authenticates a driver, the display control unit 13 acquires setting information corresponding to the authenticated driver from the storage unit 11. The display control unit 13 temporarily displays a display relating to the driver's setting information on the display of the HMI 7. The display control unit 13 displays a display relating to the driver's setting information on the display of the HMI 7 for a predetermined period of time (e.g., 6 seconds).
[0028] As shown in FIG. 2 , the display temporarily displayed on the HMI 7 includes a plurality of icons 20 indicating the on / off settings of a plurality of currently set driving assistance functions. The icons 20 include a display of the name or abbreviation of the driving assistance function that the icon 20 corresponds to. The icons 20 indicate the driving assistance function using at least one of, for example, text, figures, symbols, and colors. When the driving assistance function is on, the icon 20 includes a check mark. When the driving assistance function is off, the icon 20 does not include a check mark. When the driving assistance function is on, the icon 20 includes the notation "ON". When the driving assistance function is off, the icon 20 includes the notation "OFF". Information on the plurality of icons 20 is stored in the memory unit 11 in association with the driving assistance function.
[0029] For example, when the display control unit 13 determines from the setting information that the driver's current setting for a certain driving assistance function is on, it causes the HMI 7 to temporarily display an icon 20 that corresponds to the driving assistance function and that includes a check mark and the notation "ON." For example, when the display control unit 13 determines from the setting information that the driver's current setting for a certain driving assistance function is off, it causes the HMI 7 to temporarily display an icon 20 that corresponds to the driving assistance function and that includes the notation "OFF" without a check mark.
[0030] The multiple icons 20 temporarily displayed on the HMI 7 include at least an icon 21 relating to the on / off setting of a collision mitigation brake. In the example shown, the multiple icons 20 temporarily displayed on the HMI 7 further include an icon 22 relating to the on / off setting of a lane tracing assist, an icon 23 relating to the on / off setting of an adaptive cruise control, and an icon 24 relating to the on / off setting of a lane departure alert. Note that some or all of the multiple icons 21 to 24 temporarily displayed on the HMI 7 may be switched with other icons 20 by selecting a switching button K. The other icons 20 indicate driving assistance functions other than those of the icons 21 to 24.
[0031] When the authentication unit 12 authenticates a driver, the display control unit 13 acquires personal information corresponding to the authenticated driver from the storage unit 11. The display control unit 13 causes the HMI 7 to temporarily display a display 25 relating to the personal information of the authenticated driver together with an icon 20. When the authentication unit 12 authenticates a driver, the display control unit 13 acquires authentication time information relating to the date and time of the previous driver authentication from the storage unit 11. The display control unit 13 causes the HMI 7 to temporarily display a display 26 relating to the elapsed time from the previous driver authentication to the current driver authentication together with an icon 20.
[0032] When the authentication unit 12 authenticates a driver, the display control unit 13 acquires history information corresponding to the authenticated driver from the storage unit 11. The display control unit 13 temporarily displays, on the HMI 7, a display 27 relating to the history information of the authenticated driver together with the icon 20. The display 27 relating to the history information includes a display 27A relating to the previous driving distance and a display 27B relating to the previous destination.
[0033] The display control unit 13 derives a driving assistance function to be recommended for the authenticated driver. For example, the display control unit 13 may derive the recommended driving assistance function using a known method based on the authenticated driver's history information, etc. The display control unit 13 temporarily displays an icon 30 relating to the recommended driving assistance function together with the icon 20 on the HMI 7. The name or abbreviation of the driving assistance function corresponding to the icon 30 is displayed around the icon 30. In the illustrated example, the recommended driving assistance function is auto high beam.
[0034] The display control unit 13 erases the display temporarily displayed on the HMI 7 based on an operation by the driver. Specifically, the display control unit 13 erases the display temporarily displayed on the HMI 7 when cancellation of the display is selected via the HMI 7 (when the cancel button on the HMI 7 is touched). The display control unit 13 also erases the display temporarily displayed on the HMI 7 when a driving operation by the driver is detected. The driving operation includes an accelerator operation by the driver, a steering operation by the driver, a braking operation by the driver, an operation of a steering switch by the driver, and other operations by the driver. The driving operation by the driver can be detected by, for example, the internal sensor 3. The ECU 10 sets the activation of each of the multiple driving assistance functions based on setting information corresponding to the driver authenticated by the authentication unit 12.
[0035] Next, an example of the processing of the driving assistance device 100 will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG.
[0036] The driver monitor camera 1 starts capturing an image of the driver when the driver gets into the vehicle M, and when the ignition switch or power switch of the vehicle M is turned on, the authentication unit 12 authenticates the driver based on the image captured by the driver monitor camera 1 (step S1). The display control unit 13 retrieves and acquires the setting information, personal information, history information, and authentication time information of the authenticated driver from the storage unit 11 (step S2).
[0037] Next, the display control unit 13 derives driving assistance functions recommended for the authenticated driver (step S3). The display control unit 13 causes the HMI 7 to display setting information related to the current settings of the driving assistance functions, personal information of the driver, history information of the driver, information at the time of authentication of the driver, and a display related to the driving assistance functions recommended for the driver (see FIG. 2: step S4). In step S4, for example, a voice message saying "These are the current setting values" may be output from the speaker of the HMI 7.
[0038] Next, the display control unit 13 determines whether or not cancellation has been selected for the display displayed on the HMI 7 in step S4 (step S5). If the result of step S5 is NO, the display control unit 13 determines whether or not a driving operation by the driver has been detected (step S6). If the result of step S6 is NO, the display control unit 13 determines whether or not a certain time has elapsed since the display on the HMI 7 began (step S7). If the result of step S7 is NO, the process returns to step S5. On the other hand, if the result of step S5 is YES, if the result of step S6 is NO, or if the result of step S7 is YES, the display control unit 13 erases the display on the HMI 7 and ends the process (step S8).
[0039] As described above, in the driving assistance device 100, the driver can recognize the set driving assistance functions by simply glancing at the display related to the setting information displayed on the HMI 7. In other words, the driver can drive the vehicle M in a state where the driver correctly recognizes the set driving assistance functions.
[0040] The driving assistance device 100 temporarily displays the display related to the setting information on the HMI 7. In this case, compared to when the display related to the setting information is continuously displayed on the HMI 7, it is possible to prevent the display related to the setting information from interfering with driving.
[0041] In the driving assistance device 100, the display related to the setting information includes an icon 20 indicating the on / off setting of at least some of the driving assistance functions. In this case, the on / off setting of the driving assistance functions can be easily recognized.
[0042] In the driving assistance device 100, the display related to the setting information includes at least an icon 21 indicating whether the collision prevention function is set to on or off. In this case, the on or off setting of the collision prevention function, which is one of the particularly important driving assistance functions, can be easily recognized.
[0043] The driving assistance device 100 erases the display displayed on the HMI 7 based on an operation by the driver of the vehicle M. In this case, the display on the HMI 7 can be erased so as not to interfere with the operation by the driver.
[0044] The driving assistance device 100 starts authenticating the driver when the ignition switch or power switch of the vehicle M is turned on. In this case, by turning on the ignition switch or power switch, the driver is authenticated and a display related to the setting information is displayed on the HMI 7. Therefore, it becomes possible for the driver to start driving the vehicle M in a state where the driver correctly recognizes the set driving assistance functions.
[0045] The driving assistance device 100 stores personal information of multiple drivers in the storage unit 11. When the driver of the vehicle M is authenticated, the driving assistance device 100 acquires personal information corresponding to the authenticated driver from the storage unit 11. The acquired personal information is displayed on the HMI 7 together with a display related to the setting information. In this case, it is possible to confirm whether the driver has been properly authenticated.
[0046] The driving assistance device 100 stores history information related to the driver's past driving history in the storage unit 11. When a driver is authenticated, the driving assistance device 100 acquires history information corresponding to the authenticated driver from the storage unit 11 and causes the HMI 7 to display a display related to the acquired history information together with a display related to the setting information. In this case, it becomes possible to understand the intention behind the setting of the recognized driving assistance function from the past driving history. For example, it can be recognized that the past driving history is a long-distance drive, and in this case, it can be recalled that the current settings of some driving assistance functions were turned on because it was a long-distance drive.
[0047] Although the embodiments have been described above, one aspect of the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments. One aspect of the present invention can be implemented in various forms including the above-described embodiments and various modifications and improvements based on the knowledge of those skilled in the art.
[0048] In the above embodiment, the icon 20 indicating whether the driving assistance function is set to on or off is displayed on the HMI 7 as a display related to the setting information, but the display related to the setting information is not particularly limited. The setting of the driving assistance function may be displayed on the HMI 7 using a graph or a table. Only the driving assistance functions that are set to on may be displayed on the HMI 7. Only the driving assistance functions that are set to off may be displayed on the HMI 7. Other settings may be displayed on the HMI 7, not limited to the on or off setting of the driving assistance function.
[0049] In the above embodiment, the display 25 relating to personal information may be omitted. In the above embodiment, the display 26 relating to elapsed time on the HMI 7 may be omitted. In the above embodiment, the display 27 relating to history information on the HMI 7 may be omitted. In the above embodiment, the display of the icon 30 of the recommended driving assistance function on the HMI 7 may be omitted.
[0050] In the above embodiment, the driver is authenticated using the driver monitor camera 1, but this is not limiting. For example, the driver may be authenticated using a known device such as a device that detects the driver's biometric information. In the above embodiment, the display related to the setting information is temporarily displayed on the HMI 7, but there is no particular limit as to whether the display is temporary or not.
[0051] In the above embodiment, driver authentication is started when the ignition switch or the power switch is turned on. However, this is not limiting. Driver authentication may be started, for example, when the driver selects an authentication start switch, or when the opening or closing of the driver's door is detected. Driver authentication may also be performed periodically.
[0052] In the above embodiment, the storage unit 11 may be located outside the vehicle M (for example, in an external server). In this case, it becomes easier to use the vehicle M as a shared car. In the above embodiment, in each process of the driving assistance device 100, information acquired through at least one of vehicle-to-vehicle communication and road-to-vehicle communication may be used.
[0053] In the above embodiment, the driving assistance function installed in the vehicle M may be other ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) functions. For example, the driving assistance function may be lane keep control, radar cruise control, traffic congestion assistance, lane change assistance, overtaking assistance, preceding vehicle departure alarm, parking support brake, advanced park, intelligent parking assist, and road sign assist.
