Abstract

The present invention provides a device for applying bubbles of a substance to a tissue surface. [Solution] A device comprising a cannula, a distal tip located at the distal end of the cannula having a bubble-supporting surface and an outlet port extending through the bubble-supporting surface, an expansion fluid passage extending through the cannula to the outlet port, a source of expansion fluid, and an actuator for the same. In some configurations, the distal tip can be configured to support a layer of the material on top of the distal port, and the device can be configured such that at least one bubble of the material is formed at the distal tip by the advancement of the expansion fluid from the fluid source through the outlet port, and at least a portion of the bubble can be moved to the tissue surface to treat a defect on the tissue surface.
