AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing methods for preparing sulfated polysaccharides, such as cellulose sulfate, suffer from non-uniform substituent distribution, leading to irregular solubility and mechanical strength issues, which affect the quality of microcapsules produced.

Method used

A method involving a mixture of polysaccharide, polar aprotic solvent, sulfating agent, acetylating agent, and peroxydisulfate, followed by temperature treatment and precipitation, results in sulfated polysaccharides with uniform substituent distribution and improved solubility, suitable for microcapsule production.

Benefits of technology

The method achieves higher degree of substitution and uniform substituent distribution, enhancing the solubility and mechanical strength of sulfated polysaccharides, making them ideal for producing high-quality microcapsules.

Abstract

This invention provides a method for preparing sulfated polysaccharides suitable for the production of microcapsules. [Solution] The present invention relates to a method for preparing sulfated polysaccharides. A mixture comprising at least one polysaccharide and at least one polar aprotic solvent is prepared in this method. At least one sulfating agent, at least one acetylating agent, and at least one peroxydisulfate are added to the mixture, and the mixture is then subjected to a temperature treatment so that at least one polysaccharide is converted to at least one sulfated acetate polysaccharide. At least one sulfated acetate polysaccharide is separated from the mixture and converted to a sulfated polysaccharide. The present invention further relates to sulfated polysaccharides that can be prepared using the method according to the present invention. The present invention further relates to microcapsules and methods for producing microcapsules.
