Abstract

In a weightless environment, tires and caterpillar tracks do not generate frictional force for propulsion, and in a vacuum, propulsion and turning forces using fluids, as in air or water, are not generated. Instead, propulsion is obtained by ejecting masses such as gases or fluids outside the device and recoiling from the reaction, but the amount of ejected material is finite. [Solution] The trackball is made to orbit between the trajectory of a fixed cam and the trajectory of a rotating cam, causing the trackball to collide with the passive part of the fixed cam. This collision energy is converted into an inertial force in any direction of the fixed cam, providing propulsion. Furthermore, by arranging multiple fixed cams in a straight line on the axis of rotation, the direction of each fixed cam can be aligned, and the propulsion forces can be combined. In addition, by separating multiple rotating cams into forward rotation and reverse rotation and arranging them in a straight line on the axis of rotation, the individual moments and eccentric motions acting on the axis of rotation can be canceled out. By converting the collision energy of the trackball into an inertial force of the fixed cam, propulsion can be obtained even in a vacuum or zero gravity environment.
