Abstract
The present invention relates to a retroreflective powder coating composition comprising 10 to 95.9 wt.% of a film-forming binder material, 4 to 85 wt.% of spherical glass beads having a median particle size D50 of 1 to 50 μm and a refractive index of 1.9 to 2.8, 0.1 to 15 wt.% of pigment flakes having a median diameter of 1 to 75 μm, and 0 to 15 wt.% of one or more further components, the weight percentage of which is based on the total weight of the composition, wherein the composition contains particles having a film-forming binder material and a median particle size D50 of 2 to 200 μm, and the median diameter of the pigment flakes is greater than 35% of the median particle size D50 of the spherical glass beads. The present invention further relates to a powder coating method that provides a substrate having retroreflective properties, and a substrate coated with a retroreflective layer that can be obtained by the method.
