Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present disclosure relates to mounting assemblies and electronic assemblies, and more particularly to mounting assemblies and electronic assemblies that include at least one expansion card. [Background technology]

[0002] Typically, an expansion card is plugged into a connector located on the motherboard, and fasteners are typically used to secure the end of the expansion card opposite the connector to the motherboard to provide a firm attachment of the expansion card to the motherboard.

[0003] However, in order to disengage the expansion card from the traditional fastener, one must first rotate the fastener and then use one's fingers to find a suitable position to move the expansion card, which is inconvenient to disengage the expansion card from the traditional fastener. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0004] The present disclosure provides a mounting assembly and an electronic assembly including an engagement protrusion having an engaged position and a released position by a resilient mechanism, thereby allowing an expansion card to be released by the engagement protrusion in a convenient manner. [Means for solving the problem]

[0005] One embodiment of the present disclosure provides a mounting assembly configured to secure an expansion card to a motherboard, the mounting assembly including a first screw and at least one engagement protrusion. The first screw is configured to be fixed on the motherboard. The at least one engagement protrusion is connected to the first screw and includes an engagement position and a release position by an elastic mechanism. When the at least one engagement protrusion is in the engagement position, the at least one engagement protrusion is configured to hold the expansion card in place. When the at least one engagement protrusion is in the release position, the at least one engagement protrusion is configured to release the expansion card.

[0006] Another embodiment of the present disclosure provides an electronic assembly including a motherboard, an expansion card, and a mounting assembly. The expansion card is electrically connected to the motherboard. The mounting assembly includes a first screw and at least one engagement protrusion. The first screw is fixed on the motherboard. The at least one engagement protrusion is connected to the first screw and includes an engagement position and a release position by an elastic mechanism. When the at least one engagement protrusion is in the engagement position, the at least one engagement protrusion holds the expansion card in place. When the at least one engagement protrusion is in the release position, the at least one engagement protrusion releases the expansion card. Effect of the Invention

[0007] According to the mounting assembly and electronic assembly disclosed in the above embodiment, the engagement protrusion is connected to the first screw and includes an engagement position and a release position by the elastic mechanism. Therefore, the elastic mechanism assists the engagement protrusion to hold or release the expansion card. In this way, there is no need to find a position to move the expansion card with fingers, and the mounting assembly can release the expansion card in a simple manner. [0009] In the following detailed description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the disclosed embodiments. It will be apparent, however, that one or more embodiments may be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are diagrammatically shown to simplify the drawings.

[0010] Please refer to Figures 1 and 2. Figure 1 is a partially enlarged perspective view of an electronic assembly 10 according to a first embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 2 is a side cross-sectional view of the electronic assembly 10 of Figure 1.

[0011] In this embodiment, the electronic assembly 10 includes a motherboard 100, an expansion card 200, and a mounting assembly 300. For example, the expansion card 200 meets the M.2 specification and is electrically connected to the motherboard 100.

[0012] In this embodiment, the mounting assembly 300 includes, for example, a first screw 310 , a mounting post 320 , an engagement protrusion 330 , and a second screw 340 .

[0013] In this embodiment, the first screw 310 includes, for example, a first head portion 311 and a first body portion 312 connected to each other. A diameter D1 of the first head portion 311 is larger than a diameter D2 of the first body portion 312. The first body portion 312 is fixed to the motherboard 100.

[0014] The mounting post 320 protrudes from a side of the first head portion 311 remote from the first body portion 312. The mounting post 320 has a diameter D3 which is smaller than the diameter D1 of the first head portion 311.

[0015] In this embodiment, for example, the engagement protrusion 330 has elasticity, has a ring shape, and protrudes radially from the mounting post 320. Furthermore, the engagement protrusion 330 is made of, for example, rubber.

[0016] The second screw 340 includes, for example, a second head portion 341 and a second body portion 342 connected to each other. As shown in Figure 3, when the expansion card 200 is moved away from the motherboard 100 along the direction M, the engagement protrusion 330 is, for example, compressed by the expansion card 200 to move from the engagement position to the release position, so that the engagement protrusion 330 and the first head portion 311 can release the expansion card 200.

[0018] Other embodiments are described below for illustrative purposes. Note that in the following embodiments, the reference numerals and some of the contents of the above-mentioned embodiments are used, the same reference numerals are used for the same or similar elements, and the description of the same technical contents is omitted. The above-mentioned embodiments can be referred to for the description of the omitted parts, and the detailed description of the following embodiments is omitted.

[0019] The present disclosure is not limited by the configuration of the mounting assembly. Please refer to FIG. 4 and FIG. 5. FIG. 4 is a partially enlarged perspective view of an electronic assembly 10a according to a second embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG. 5 is a side cross-sectional view of the electronic assembly 10a of FIG. 4. The only difference between the electronic assembly 10a of this embodiment and the electronic assembly 10 of the first embodiment is the configuration of the mounting assembly 300a. In particular, in this embodiment, the mounting assembly 300a includes, for example, a first screw 310, a mounting post 320a, and an engagement protrusion 330, but does not include the second screw 340 of FIG. 1. Furthermore, in this embodiment, for example, there are a plurality of openings 321a at the end of the mounting post 320a that is separated from the first screw 310, and thus a plurality of cantilevers 322a are formed.

[0020] Please refer to Figures 6 and 7. Figure 6 is a partially enlarged perspective view of an electronic assembly 10b according to a third embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 7 is a side cross-sectional view of the electronic assembly 10b of Figure 6.

[0021] In this embodiment, the electronic assembly 10b includes a motherboard 100, an expansion card 200, and a mounting assembly 300b. For example, the expansion card 200 meets the M.2 specification and is electrically connected to the motherboard 100.

[0022] In this embodiment, the mounting assembly 300b includes, for example, a first screw 310, a mounting post 320, a number of cantilevers 325b, a number of engagement protrusions 330b, a rotatable part 350b, and a second screw 340.

[0023] In this embodiment, the first screw 310 includes, for example, a first head portion 311 and a first body portion 312 that are connected to each other. The first body portion 312 is fixed to the motherboard 100. The characteristics regarding the diameter of the first head portion 311 and the diameter of the first body portion 312 are similar to those described in the first embodiment, so repeated description will be omitted.

[0024] The mounting post 320 protrudes from the side of the first head portion 311 that is remote from the first body portion 312. The characteristics regarding the diameter of the mounting post 320 are similar to those described in the first embodiment, and therefore will not be described repeatedly.

[0025] The cantilever 325b protrudes from a side of the mounting post 320 remote from the first head portion 311, and is disposed along the circumferential direction C of the mounting post 320. For example, the engagement protrusions 330b are arc-shaped, and protrude from the ends of the cantilever 325b remote from the mounting post 320. In another embodiment, there may be one arc-shaped engagement protrusion and one cantilever.

[0026] The rotatable part 350b includes a mounting tube portion 351b and a hand-held protruding portion 352b. The mounting tube portion 351b includes a flat portion 353b and a pressing portion 354b, which cooperate to form an internal space 360b. The mounting post 320 is disposed penetrating the internal space 360b, and the mounting tube portion 351b is disposed on the mounting post 320 so as to be rotatable. The pressing portion 354b has a pressing inclined surface 3540b. The hand-held protruding portion 352b protrudes from the pressing portion 354b.

[0027] The second screw 340 includes, for example, a second head portion 341 and a second body portion 342 that are connected to each other. The features relating to the diameter of the second head portion 341 and the diameter of the second body portion 342 are similar to those described in the first embodiment, and therefore repeated description will be omitted. An end of the second body portion 342 remote from the second head portion 341 is screwed to the mounting post 320. The second screw 340 is configured so that, for example, a heat sink (not shown) disposed on the expansion card 200 is attached thereon.

[0028] Please refer to Figures 7 and 8. Figure 8 is a perspective view showing the mounting assembly 300b of the electronic assembly 10b of Figure 6 releasing the expansion card 200. The engagement protrusion 330b includes an engagement position (as shown in Figure 7) and a release position (as shown in Figure 8) due to the elasticity of the cantilever 325b. As shown in Figure 7, when the engagement protrusion 330b is in the engagement position, the engagement protrusion 330b and the cantilever 325b hold the expansion card 200 in a predetermined position. As shown in Figure 8, when the hand-held protrusion 352b is held and the mounting tube part 351b is rotated along the rotation direction R relative to the mounting post 320, the pressing inclined surface 3540b pushes the expansion card 200 from the motherboard 100 along the direction M, and moves the engagement protrusion 330b from the engagement position to the release position. When the engagement protrusion 330b is in the release position, the engagement protrusion 330b and the cantilever 325b release the expansion card 200. The pressing inclined surface 3540b allows the expansion card 200 to be released more easily.

[0029] Alternatively, please refer to Figures 9 and 10. Figure 9 is a partially enlarged perspective view of an electronic assembly 10c according to a fourth embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 10 is a side cross-sectional view of the electronic assembly 10c of Figure 9. The only difference between the electronic assembly 10c of this embodiment and the electronic assembly 10b of the third embodiment is the configuration of the mounting assembly 300c. In detail, in this embodiment, the mounting assembly 300c includes, for example, a first screw 310, a mounting post 320, a cantilever 325b, an engagement protrusion 330b, and a rotatable part 350c, but does not include the second screw 340 in Figure 6. In this embodiment, the mounting tube part 351c of the rotatable part 350c is provided with two pressing parts 354b. The flat part 353b and the two pressing parts 354b cooperate to form an internal space 360b. The hand-held protrusion 352c protrudes from the two pressing parts 354b and is disposed at a position where the two pressing parts 354b are connected. The two pressing parts 354b cause one of the two pressing inclined surfaces 3540b to press the expansion card 200, so that the engagement protrusion 330b and the cantilever 325b can release the expansion card 200 regardless of the rotation direction of the mounting tube part 351b. That is, the expansion card 200 can be released by rotating the mounting tube part 351b along the rotation direction R or by rotating it in the opposite direction to the rotation direction R relative to the mounting post 320.

[0030] According to the mounting assembly and electronic assembly disclosed in the above embodiment, the engagement protrusion is connected to the first screw and includes an engagement position and a release position by the elastic mechanism. Therefore, the elastic mechanism assists the engagement protrusion to hold or release the expansion card. In this way, there is no need to find a suitable position to move the expansion card with fingers, and the mounting assembly can release the expansion card in a simple manner.
