Abstract
Description
[Technical Field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a nerve ablation device, and more particularly to a posterior nasal nerve ablation device for the treatment of chronic rhinitis. [Background technology]
[0002] Chronic rhinitis is a highly prevalent and difficult-to-treat disease worldwide, significantly impacting the quality of life of adults and children. Statistics show that 200 million medications are used for allergic diseases in Taiwan each year, and the prevalence of allergic rhinitis among Taiwanese schoolchildren has increased tenfold over the past 30 years. The average prevalence rate among adults is 26.3%, with an estimated population of over 4 million affected. This disease significantly impacts treatment costs and lost work, can cause sleep and breathing disorders, and cannot be effectively treated with current medications or surgery. The 2023 International Consensus on Nasal Allergy Diseases proposed the use of surgery to treat chronic rhinitis that cannot be improved with drug therapy, and posterior nasal nerve ablation was first presented as a means of improving runny nose and nasal allergies. However, the patented equipment for this technique is only available in the United States, and literature has noted poor initial efficacy (30% ineffective) and a 2.4% risk of severe nasal bleeding.
[0003] The prior art has the following drawbacks:
[0004] 1. Until now, surgery for nasal allergies has been difficult, requiring hospitalization, being performed under general anesthesia, and having many complications.
[0005] 2. Current improved and more acceptable nasal allergy surgery is only available in the United States with proprietary equipment and is not available worldwide.
[0006] 3. US patented equipment has insufficient initial surgical treatment effects (30% are non-responsive), and there is a risk of dangerous bleeding in 2.4% of cases. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0007] In view of the above drawbacks, the object of the present invention is to provide a posterior nasal nerve ablation device for treating chronic rhinitis. [Means for solving the problem]

[0011] The posterior nasal nerve ablation device for treating chronic rhinitis described in claim 4 further includes a smoke evacuation module in addition to the laser module in claim 3, the smoke evacuation module being connected to the connecting handle or the second probe, and the smoke evacuation module being used to remove smoke generated during the laser process.
[0012] The posterior nasal nerve ablation device for treating chronic rhinitis described in claim 5 is characterized in that the second probe in claim 1 has a 20° bend angle and a 90° straight pointed mirror and is used to deliver laser energy to the nerve area of the posterior turbinate.
[0013] The posterior nasal nerve ablation device for treating chronic rhinitis described in claim 6 is characterized in that the radiofrequency module in claim 1 is a bipolar radiofrequency device, and the laser module is a carbon dioxide laser device. [Effects of the Invention]
[0014] The efficacy of this device in treating rhinitis is superior to that of conventional techniques, with little risk of postnasal bleeding complications, and it has broken patents to serve the public interest. Due to its excellent efficacy, the team has attracted patients both at home and abroad, treating over 1,000 cases. Patients from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, and Malaysia have undergone surgery with this team. Three SCI papers have already been published in international journals, including IFAR (IF: 7.2), a leading otolaryngology journal, earning international recognition. In 2024-2025 alone, more than 15 lectures were given at home and abroad. More than 42 physicians from across the country have visited the team to learn, including 17 from medical centers. Following their visit, the team, along with 20 physicians from 14 counties and cities across the country, formed a national service alliance led by the team to promote innovative medical technology. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0016] In order to explain the contents and achievable effects of the present invention, the following description will be given in conjunction with the drawings and specific embodiments. As shown in Figures 1 to 4, the posterior nasal nerve ablation device for treating chronic rhinitis of the present invention includes a radiofrequency module 10, a laser module 20, and a main body 30.
[0017] The radio frequency module 10 includes a first probe 11 .
[0018] The laser module 20 includes a second probe 21 and a smoke evacuation module 22 .
[0019] The radio frequency module 10 is a bipolar radio frequency device, the laser module 20 is a carbon dioxide laser, and the radio frequency module 10 and the laser module 20 are detachably connected to the first probe 11 and the second probe 21, respectively.
[0020] 1, 6 and 7, the main body 30 includes a first power regulator 31 and a second power regulator 32, which are electrically connected to the radiofrequency module 10 and the laser module 20, respectively. The first power regulator 31 sets the output of the radiofrequency module 10 to 15 watts, and the first probe 11 applies high-frequency energy to the head, middle and posterior parts of the inferior turbinate A1 in the nasal cavity A of the human body, as well as to the upper, middle and lower parts of the posterior end of the turbinate, thereby reducing the volume of the inferior turbinate A1 and cauterizing the neurovascular structures therein. The second power regulator 32 sets the output of the laser module 20 to 2 watts, and the second probe 21 applies laser energy to the posterior nasal nerve, thereby cauterizing the posterior nasal nerve tissue, of which the head, middle and posterior parts of the inferior turbinate A1 further include at least one mulberry tissue.
[0021] That is, each of the connecting handles H, the first probe 11, and the second probe 21 is used to deliver high-frequency energy and laser energy to 15 to 30 non-overlapping locations on the inferior turbinate tissue. As shown in Figures 3 to 5, the second probe 21 is used to deliver laser energy to the posterior nasal nerve tissue, and the smoke evacuation module 22 is connected to the connecting handle H or the second probe 21 to remove smoke generated during the laser process.
[0022] This device inserts the first and second probes 11 and 21 into the nasal cavity to create an optimal working space, and then performs radiofrequency turbinate reduction to immediately relieve symptoms.Compared with traditional methods, it has a better hemostatic effect than deep nerve cauterization.
[0023] The present invention has the following advantages:
[0024] 1. This device has achieved good results, with over 1,000 innovative surgeries having been performed between 2023 and 2025. It has the advantages of being highly effective, minimally invasive, and not requiring hospitalization, reducing the burden on health insurance.
[0025] 2. The innovative "Desensitizing Radiofrequency Inferior Turbinate Surgery" can achieve complete treatment of the inferior turbinate portion of the posterior nasal nerve with an unprecedented surgical depth that reaches the posterior edge of the inferior turbinate.
[0026] 3. The innovative "carbon dioxide laser posterior nasal nerve ablation" replaces traditional nerve resection, significantly shortens recovery time, reduces complications, and eliminates the risk of posterior nosebleeds compared to foreign techniques, significantly improving safety.
[0027] 4. The innovative "Inferior Turbinate Hemostatic Patch Seal" replaces the need for inflatable nasal cotton pads and exposed wounds, allowing for smoother breathing and faster recovery in a short time.
[0028] 5. The innovative "postural anesthesia technique" allows surgery to be performed using only 6cc of anesthetic, resulting in extremely minimal bleeding during the procedure, allowing all patients to complete the procedure smoothly, with minimal pain and high satisfaction.
[0029] 6. Build a nationwide network of physicians to provide a more complete care system and services to patients across the country and around the world. [Explanation of symbols]
