Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a cover for an air vent pipe attachment part of an outdoor tank to which an air vent pipe is attached, and particularly to a rust prevention cover for preventing rust of the air vent pipe attachment part.
Background Art
[0002] In an outdoor tank used at normal pressure outdoors, an air vent pipe is attached to the top of the outdoor tank in order to prevent the accumulation of pressure inside the tank. Generally, a boss with a tapered female screw as a coupling member is welded to the top of the tank, and an air vent pipe with a tapered male screw is attached to the boss by screwing. <00OO011> However, since the screw is cut at the mating part between the boss and the air vent pipe, rainwater easily accumulates in this part after rain, so rust is likely to occur easily. Painting as a rust prevention measure is difficult considering the influence of poor tightening at the tip of the screw due to the tapered screw, and thin film painting such as cationic electrodeposition painting is also reluctant to be adopted considering the influence on the tip of the screw. Therefore, no specific countermeasures have been taken until now.
Summary of the Invention
Problems to be Solved by the Invention
[0004] The present invention has been made to address the above problems, and an object thereof is to propose a rust prevention cover in an outdoor tank to which an air vent pipe is attached, such that rust does not occur in the air vent pipe attachment part due to rainwater.
Means for Solving the Problems
[0005] (1) In order to solve the above problems, the present invention <000OO25>A rust-preventive cover for a vent pipe mounting portion, characterized in that it is made of resin, is used to cover the vent pipe mounting portion, which is the part where the vent pipe is attached to the boss, in order to prevent pressure buildup inside the outdoor tank used outdoors at normal pressure, and the vent pipe is attached to the boss, in order to prevent rust from occurring at the vent pipe mounting portion.
[0006] Until now, in outdoor tanks equipped with vent pipes, the vent pipe mounting area, where the vent pipe is attached to the boss, is a place where rainwater tends to accumulate, but no rust prevention treatment has been applied. Therefore, we propose covering the vent pipe mounting area with a rust-preventive resin cover.
[0007] (2) The rust-preventive cover has a small diameter portion at the top and a large diameter portion at the bottom, the inner diameter of the small diameter portion is the outer diameter of the vent pipe, and the inner diameter of the large diameter portion is the outer diameter of the boss, and when the rust-preventive cover is attached to the vent pipe mounting portion, the annular surface on the inside of the rust-preventive cover that connects the small diameter portion and the large diameter portion is in surface contact with the annular surface at the upper tip of the boss.
[0008] The inner shape of the rust-preventive cover is formed to match the shape of the vent pipe mounting section. In particular, the annular surface connecting the small-diameter and large-diameter sections on the inside of the rust-preventive cover is formed to make surface contact with the annular surface at the upper tip of the boss. This prevents rainwater from being retained at the vent pipe mounting section, thus providing a rust-preventive effect. As will be described in more detail later, after conducting a salt spray test, rust was observed at the vent pipe mounting section when the rust-preventive cover was not present, but no rust was observed when the rust-preventive cover was present.
[0009] (3) The rust-preventive cover is characterized by being made of silicone resin.
[0010] Silicone resin is excellent as a rust-preventive cover for outdoor use because it is heat-resistant, cold-resistant, water-repellent, and resistant to ultraviolet rays.
[0011] (4) The rust-preventive cover is characterized by being made of EVA resin (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin).
[0012] EVA resin is lightweight, highly elastic, water-resistant, weather-resistant, and produces minimal harmful gases when incinerated, making it an excellent choice for rust-preventive covers used outdoors.
[0013] (5) The rust-preventive cover can be attached to any tank in which the vent pipe is used, regardless of the shape of the tank, such as vertical cylindrical, horizontal cylindrical, or rectangular.
[0014] As long as it is an outdoor tank to which a vent pipe can be attached, the shape of the tank is irrelevant, so a rust-preventive cover can be manufactured by considering only the shape of the vent pipe attachment point, without considering the shape of the tank. [Effects of the Invention]
[0015] By covering the vent pipe mounting area with the rust-preventive cover of this invention, rust can be prevented from occurring at the vent pipe mounting area, which is beneficial from both an aesthetic and quality standpoint, as it prevents rainwater from entering the contents of the tank. [Brief explanation of the drawing]
[0016] [Figure 1] This is a front view of an oil tank with a vent pipe attached, as one embodiment of the design. [Figure 2] This is a magnified view of the vent pipe mounting area, where the vent pipe shown in Figure 1 is attached to the boss. [Figure 3] Figure 3a is a perspective view of the rust-preventive cover of the present invention as seen from the outside, and Figure 3b is a perspective view showing the inside of the rust-preventive cover of the present invention. [Figure 4] Figure 4a shows the situation in which the vent pipe with the rust-preventive cover of the present invention inserted is attached to the boss of the tank with screws, and Figure 4b shows the state in which the rust-preventive cover of the present invention is attached to the vent pipe mounting part. [Figure 5]Front view of an oil tank with a ventilation pipe as another embodiment.
Embodiment for Implementing the Invention
[0017] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the rust prevention cover of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. In each figure, the same parts are denoted by the same reference numerals.
[0018] FIG. 1 is an embodiment of an oil tank 1 with a ventilation pipe attached. The tank body 100 is supported by legs 60, and a ventilation pipe 10, an oil gauge 20, and a fuel filler port 30 are provided at the top of the tank body 100, and a strainer valve 40 and a copper pipe joint 50 are provided at the bottom.
[0019] FIG. 2 is an enlarged view of the ventilation pipe attachment portion provided at the top of the tank body 100 of the oil tank 1 in FIG. 1. The ventilation pipe 10 is screwed onto a boss 70 welded to the top of the tank body 100. A tapered female thread (not shown) is cut on the inner surface of the boss 70, a tapered male thread 71 is cut on the outer surface of the ventilation pipe 10, and a sealing tape 75 is wound around the tapered male thread 71.
[0020] FIG. 2 shows the current state of the ventilation pipe attachment portion of the oil tank 1. When it rains, rainwater accumulates in the ventilation pipe attachment portion formed by the annular surface 73 at the upper tip of the boss 70 and the tapered male thread 71 of the ventilation pipe 10, and rust occurs in the tapered female thread portion of the boss 70. This rust becomes a problem in terms of aesthetics.
[0021] As a rust prevention measure, painting the tapered female thread of the boss 70 was considered, but its adoption was hesitant considering the influence of poor tightening at the tip of the thread due to the tapered thread. Thin film painting such as cationic electrodeposition coating was also hesitant to adopt, and no effective countermeasure has been taken until now.
[0022] Figure 3a shows the outside of the rust-proof cover 80 made of resin devised as a rust prevention measure. The rust-proof cover 80 is composed of a small-diameter part 81 at the upper part and a large-diameter part 82 at the lower part. Here, since the resin is used outdoors, weather resistance, especially ultraviolet resistance, is required, and water repellency is also required to avoid rainwater. Furthermore, heat resistance and cold resistance are required as needed. Silicone resin can be mentioned as a resin that can meet such conditions. Furthermore, EVA resin (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin) is also mentioned as a candidate. EVA resin is lightweight, highly elastic, water-resistant and weather-resistant, and hardly generates harmful gases during incineration, so it is recommended from an environmental perspective.
[0023] Figure 3b shows the inside of the rust-proof cover 80. The size of the inner diameter of the small-diameter part 81 is the size of the outer diameter of the ventilation pipe 10, and the size of the inner diameter of the large-diameter part 82 is the size of the outer diameter of the boss 70. When the rust-proof cover 80 is attached to the ventilation pipe attachment part, which is the place where the ventilation pipe 10 is attached to the boss 70, the rust-proof cover 80 is manufactured so that the annular surface 83 connecting the small-diameter part 81 and the large-diameter part 82 on the inside of the rust-proof cover is in surface contact with the annular surface 73 (see Figure 2) at the upper tip of the boss.
[0024] The shape of the inside of the rust-proof cover is formed to match the shape of the ventilation pipe attachment part. In particular, as described above, since the annular surface 83 connecting the small-diameter part 81 and the large-diameter part 82 on the inside of the rust-proof cover is formed to be in surface contact with the annular surface 73 (see Figure 2) at the upper tip of the boss, rainwater is not retained in the ventilation pipe attachment part, and the rust prevention effect can be exerted.
[0025] To confirm the rust-preventive effect of the rust-preventive cover, a salt spray test was conducted. Specifically, two sets of test parts similar to those shown in Figure 2, with a vent pipe attached to the boss, were prepared. One set was used as is, and the other set had the rust-preventive cover 80 attached to the vent pipe attachment point. A 5% salt solution was continuously sprayed onto the test parts for 240 hours using a sprayer. After 240 hours of spraying, the test parts were rinsed with water and dried, and the rust formation was compared. In the test parts without the rust-preventive cover 80, red rust was observed between the sealing tape on the vent pipe side and the annular surface at the upper tip of the boss. On the other hand, no rust was observed anywhere in the test parts with the rust-preventive cover 80 attached. The effectiveness of the rust-preventive cover 80 was confirmed by the salt spray test.
[0026] Figure 4a shows the process of attaching the vent pipe 10, with the rust-preventive cover 80 inserted, to the boss 70 of the tank body 100 with screws. After screwing the tapered male thread 71, wrapped with sealing tape 75, into the tapered female thread cut into the inner surface of the boss 70, the rust-preventive cover 80 is moved in the direction of the arrow.
[0027] Figure 4b shows the state after the rust-preventive cover 80 has been attached to the ventilation pipe mounting section. The inside of the rust-preventive cover 80 overlaps without any gaps in the ventilation pipe mounting section formed by the annular surface 73 at the upper tip of the boss 70 and the tapered male thread 71 of the ventilation pipe 10. In particular, the annular surface 73 at the upper tip of the boss 70 and the annular surface 83 on the inside of the rust-preventive cover 80 (see Figure 3b) are manufactured to make surface contact. Furthermore, since the rust-preventive cover 80 is made of resin, by using a silicone resin or the like that is water-repellent and resistant to ultraviolet rays, it is possible to effectively prevent rainwater from entering the ventilation pipe mounting section over a long period of time.
[0028] Figure 5 shows a vertical cylindrical tank 200 with a vent pipe attached as another embodiment. The tank body 101 is supported by legs 61, and a vent pipe 11, oil level gauge 21, fuel inlet 31, and inspection port 91 are provided at the top of the tank body 101, with an oil supply port 51 at the bottom and a drain port 41 at the very bottom. The installation of the vent pipe 11 is the same as shown in Figure 2, and the configuration of the rust-preventive cover installed at the vent pipe mounting part is the same as shown in Figures 3a and 3b.
