Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a compressor unit. [Background technology]

[0002] Conventionally, low-temperature boil-off gas (BOG) from liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquid hydrogen (LH2), etc. is recovered by a compressor and supplied to the consumer, such as an engine. In particular, the boil-off gas generated from LH2 is at a very low temperature. For this reason, if a configuration is adopted in which the compressor directly sucks in the boil-off gas, restrictions are imposed, such as the need to select materials suitable for extremely low temperatures, the need to adopt design conditions that take into account the amount of thermal deformation, and the need to implement strict insulation treatment. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]

[0003] [Patent Document 1] JP 2020-172870 A [Patent Document 2] JP 2001-65795 A [Patent Document 3] Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 3-92700 [Patent Document 4] JP 2019-27590 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0004] However, Patent Document 1 points out the following problem: "In recent years, hydrogen has been attracting attention as a new energy source. When using hydrogen as an energy source, it is assumed that, like natural gas, it will be stored and transported in a liquefied state. However, hydrogen has the characteristic that its liquefaction temperature is lower than that of air. For this reason, if equipment such as reciprocating compressors intended for natural gas, etc., is directly applied to hydrogen, there is a possibility that problems will arise due to the extremely low temperature of liquid hydrogen. For example, liquefied air will be generated around the equipment to which liquid hydrogen is supplied."

[0005] That is, Patent Document 1 considers the problem of preventing malfunctions caused by cryogenic liquid hydrogen. In addition, while there are some devices to which a cryogenic fluid is supplied, such as piping, for which high-performance insulation can be easily implemented (for example, those provided with a vacuum region), there is also the problem that there are also some devices for which high-performance insulation is very difficult, such as moving machines that vibrate during operation and equipment that requires regular maintenance through an inspection opening (for example, reciprocating compressors).

[0006] It is known to provide a heat exchanger capable of heating the boil-off gas before it is sucked into the compressor, as disclosed in the following Patent Documents 2 to 4. On the other hand, if the suction gas is heated excessively, the gas volume expands, which increases the compression power and results in a loss of power (energy), so it is required to control the suction temperature within an appropriate range.

[0007] The compressor unit disclosed in Patent Document 2 is provided with a heat exchanger 104 that heats the boil-off gas before being sucked into the compression section 102 by the boil-off gas discharged from the compression section 102, as shown in Fig. 12. In this compressor unit, it is possible to change the flow rate through the heat exchanger 104 depending on the gas throughput. However, since the entire amount of the boil-off gas derived from the tank 100 flows into the heat exchanger 104, it is only possible to change the flow rate depending on the gas throughput, and it is not possible to adjust the flow rate through the heat exchanger 104 so that the temperature of the gas sucked into the compression section 102 becomes a predetermined temperature.

[0008] In contrast, in the compressor unit disclosed in Patent Document 3, as shown in FIG. 13, a bypass pipe 114 that bypasses the heat exchanger 112 is provided. A valve 114a is provided in this bypass pipe 114, and the amount of gas passing through the heat exchanger 112 can be adjusted by controlling the opening and closing of the valve 114a of the bypass pipe 114. Therefore, it may be possible to adjust the temperature of the boil-off gas sucked into the compression section 116 by controlling the opening and closing of the valve 114a. However, in the compressor unit of Patent Document 3, even if the valve 114a is fully open, the boil-off gas may also flow into the heat exchanger 112 due to the pressure loss of the valve 114a itself. Therefore, it is difficult to control the temperature of the gas sucked into the compression section 116 to be within an appropriate range.

[0009] In addition, Patent Document 4 also shows a heat exchanger 123 for exchanging heat between the boil-off gas before being sucked into the compression section 121 and the boil-off gas after being discharged from the compression section 121, as shown in FIG. 14. However, since this heat exchanger 123 is for re-liquefying the boil-off gas after being compressed in the compression section 121, the boil-off gas cooled by a cooler 125 arranged downstream of the compression section 121 is introduced into the heat exchanger 123. Therefore, the cited document 3 is disadvantageous in terms of sufficiently warming the evaporated gas sucked into the compression section 121. Moreover, Patent Document 4 does not consider adjusting the temperature of the boil-off gas sucked into the compression section 121, because the temperature of the gas sucked into the compression section 121 is unlikely to become too high, as in Patent Document 3.

[0010] Therefore, the present invention has been made in consideration of the above problems, and an object of the present invention is to appropriately manage the temperature of hydrogen gas, which is the boil-off gas that is sucked into the reciprocating compression section of a compressor unit. [Means for solving the problem]

[0011] A compressor unit according to one aspect of the present invention is a compressor unit that recovers hydrogen gas, which is boil-off gas, from a liquid hydrogen storage tank and supplies at least a portion of it to a demand destination including at least one of an engine, a power generation facility, or a boiler, and is equipped with: a compression section constituted by a reciprocating compression mechanism that compresses the hydrogen gas flowing through an intake passage and discharges the compressed gas into a discharge passage; a water-cooled or air-cooled cooler that cools the hydrogen gas discharged into the discharge passage; a preheater capable of heat exchange between the hydrogen gas before being sucked into the compression section and the hydrogen gas discharged from the compression section and flowing toward the cooler; a spillback section including a spillback passage that returns the hydrogen gas discharged from the compression section to a portion of the intake passage downstream or upstream of the preheater; and a temperature sensor arranged in the intake passage between a connection portion of the spillback passage and the compression section. The discharge flow path or the suction flow path has a first path portion and a second path portion that branch into two in the flow direction of the hydrogen gas and then merge with each other, and the first path portion passes through the preheater while the second path portion does not pass through the preheater. The compressor unit further includes an adjustment means for adjusting the flow rate of hydrogen gas flowing through the first path portion and adjusting the flow rate of hydrogen gas flowing through the second path portion, and a control unit for controlling the adjustment means by referring to the suction temperature acquired by the temperature sensor so that the suction temperature falls within a predetermined temperature range. The predetermined temperature range is higher than a reference temperature based on the liquefaction temperature of air.

[0012] In this compressor unit, the adjustment means adjusts the flow rate of hydrogen gas that passes through the preheater and the flow rate of hydrogen gas that does not pass through the preheater. Furthermore, the adjustment means is controlled so that the temperature of the hydrogen gas sucked into the compression section falls within a predetermined temperature range. Therefore, the intake temperature of the compression section can be appropriately managed. In addition, the intake temperature can be appropriately heated by utilizing the heat of the hydrogen gas (discharge gas) before it flows into the cooler. Furthermore, since the connection part of the spillback flow path to the intake flow path is located upstream of the temperature sensor, even if the detected gas temperature of the temperature sensor changes due to the hydrogen gas returned to the intake flow path by the spillback part, the temperature of the hydrogen gas sucked into the compression section can be kept within an appropriate range. Moreover, since the temperature range of the hydrogen gas sucked into the compression section can be made higher than a predetermined reference temperature, liquefaction of oxygen, which is a combustion-supporting gas, can be avoided.

[0013] A compressor unit according to another aspect of the present invention is a compressor unit that recovers hydrogen gas, which is a flammable boil-off gas below 0°C, from a liquid hydrogen storage tank and supplies at least a portion of it to a demand destination including at least one of an engine, a power generation facility, or a boiler, and is equipped with: a compression section constituted by a reciprocating compression mechanism that compresses the hydrogen gas flowing through an intake passage and discharges the compressed gas into a discharge passage; a water-cooled or air-cooled cooler that cools the hydrogen gas discharged into the discharge passage; a preheater capable of heat exchange between the hydrogen gas before being sucked into the compression section and the hydrogen gas discharged from the compression section and flowing toward the cooler; a temperature sensor that is disposed in the discharge passage between the preheater and the compression section; and a spillback section that returns the hydrogen gas discharged from the compression section to a portion of the intake passage downstream or upstream of the preheater. The discharge flow path or the suction flow path has a first path section and a second path section that branch into two in the flow direction of the hydrogen gas and then merge with each other, and the first path section passes through the preheater while the second path section does not pass through the preheater. The compressor unit further includes an adjustment means that adjusts the flow rate of hydrogen gas flowing through the first path section and adjusts the flow rate of hydrogen gas flowing through the second path section, a calculation section that estimates the suction temperature of the compression section based on the discharge temperature acquired by the temperature sensor, and a control section that controls the adjustment means so that the estimated suction temperature is within a predetermined temperature range. The predetermined temperature range is higher than a reference temperature based on the liquefaction temperature of air.

[0014] In this compressor unit, an adjustment means adjusts the flow rate of hydrogen gas that passes through the preheater and the flow rate of hydrogen gas that does not pass through the preheater. Furthermore, the adjustment means is controlled so that the temperature of the hydrogen gas sucked into the compression section falls within a predetermined temperature range. Therefore, the suction temperature of the compression section can be appropriately managed. In addition, the suction temperature can be appropriately heated by utilizing the heat of the hydrogen gas (discharge gas) before it flows into the cooler. Moreover, since the temperature range of the hydrogen gas sucked into the compression section can be made higher than a predetermined reference temperature, liquefaction of oxygen, which is a combustion supporting gas, can be avoided.

[0015] The adjusting means may be a three-way valve provided at a branch point between the first path portion and the second path portion. In this embodiment, a single valve can adjust the flow rate of hydrogen gas going to the preheater and the flow rate of hydrogen gas not passing through the preheater, which contributes to simplifying the configuration.

[0016] The adjustment means may be constituted by a valve provided in the first path portion, the opening degree of which can be adjusted, and a valve provided in the second path portion, the opening degree of which can be adjusted.

[0017] The adjustment means may be composed of a valve with an adjustable opening provided in the first path portion, and a throttle portion provided in the second path portion for restricting the flow rate of hydrogen gas.

[0018] The control unit may refer to the suction temperature and control the adjustment means to stop the flow of hydrogen gas through the first path section when the suction temperature is equal to or higher than a predetermined upper limit temperature, and may also control the adjustment means to keep the suction temperature within the predetermined temperature range when the suction temperature is below the upper limit temperature. In this aspect, since the flow of hydrogen gas through the preheater is stopped when the suction temperature is equal to or higher than the predetermined upper limit temperature, it is possible to prevent the temperature of the hydrogen gas sucked into the compression section from becoming too high.

[0019] The intake passage may include a heat insulating material for suppressing heat input from outside air. In this embodiment, unintended heat input in the intake passage is suppressed, thereby making it possible to more appropriately control the intake temperature. Effect of the Invention

[0020] As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to appropriately manage the temperature of hydrogen gas, which is the boil-off gas sucked into the reciprocating compression section in the compressor unit. [Brief description of the drawings]

[0022] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.

[0023] (First embodiment) The compressor unit according to this embodiment is configured to recover hydrogen gas, which is boil-off gas, from a liquid hydrogen storage tank, compress the recovered hydrogen gas, and supply it to a consumer. The boil-off gas, which is hydrogen gas, is at about -250°C. Demand consumers include power generation facilities, boilers, engines of ships, etc.

[0024] As shown in FIG. 1, the compressor unit 10 includes a compression section 12 for compressing hydrogen gas, a cooler 14 for cooling the hydrogen gas compressed in the compression section 12, and a preheater 16 for heating the hydrogen gas before it is sucked into the compression section 12.

[0025] The compression section 12 is connected to the liquid hydrogen tank 23 via the suction passage 21. Therefore, the boil-off gas of the liquefied gas generated in the liquid hydrogen tank 23 is sucked into the compression section 12 through the suction passage 21. The compression section 12 is configured by a reciprocating compression mechanism. That is, as shown in FIG. 2, the compression section 12 has a cylinder section 211, a piston 212, a piston rod 213, a pair of suction valves 214, and a pair of discharge valves 215. The piston 212 and the piston rod 213 are connected to a crank mechanism (not shown). The piston 212 reciprocates in the cylinder section 211, whereby the hydrogen gas is compressed in the compression chamber. Although FIG. 2 shows the compression section 12 having a double acting structure, the compression section 12 may have a single acting structure.

[0026] 1, the compression section 12 is shown as a single trapezoid for convenience, but the compression section 12 does not necessarily have to be a single-stage type and may be configured with multiple compression stages. That is, the compression section 12 may be configured such that hydrogen gas is sequentially compressed and pressurized by pistons 212 in multiple cylinder sections 211 connected in series. The same applies to other embodiments.

[0027] The suction passage 21 is provided with a heat insulating material 26 for suppressing heat input from the outside air. The heat insulating material 26 may be omitted. The discharge passage 25 may also be provided with a heat insulating material (not shown).

[0028] The cooler 14 is disposed in the discharge flow passage 25. The cooler 14 may be of a water-cooled type or an air-cooled type. The hydrogen gas cooled by the cooler 14 is sent to a consumer 28.

[0029] The preheater 16 is configured to heat the hydrogen gas before it is sucked into the compression section 12 by exchanging heat between the hydrogen gas before it is sucked into the compression section 12 and the hydrogen gas after it is discharged from the compression section 12. The preheater 16 is connected to a portion of the discharge flow passage 25 upstream of the cooler 14. In the preheater 16, the hydrogen gas flowing through the intake flow passage 21 toward the compression section 12 is heated by the hydrogen gas flowing toward the cooler 14, so that the hydrogen gas can be effectively heated, unlike a configuration in which the hydrogen gas is heated by the hydrogen gas after it has been cooled by the cooler 14.

[0030] The preheater 16 is connected to a first path portion 29a in the discharge flow path 25. That is, the discharge flow path 25 has an upstream path portion 29b, the first path portion 29a and the second path portion 29c which branch off from the upstream path portion 29b and then merge with each other, and a downstream path portion 29d through which hydrogen gas flows after the first path portion 29a and the second path portion 29c merge. The upstream path portion 29b is connected to the compression unit 12. The downstream path portion 29d extends to a demand destination 28.

[0031] Since the first path portion 29a passes through the preheater 16, at least a portion of the hydrogen gas discharged from the compression section 12 can flow into the preheater 16. Since the preheater 16 is also connected to the suction passage 21, the hydrogen gas flowing through the first path portion 29a can heat the hydrogen gas flowing through the suction passage 21. On the other hand, the second path portion 29c does not pass through the preheater 16.

[0032] The cooler 14 is connected to the downstream path portion 29d. That is, in the discharge flow path 25, the cooler 14 is disposed downstream of the preheater 16. Therefore, the preheater 16 heats the hydrogen gas flowing through the suction flow path 21 with the hydrogen gas before being cooled by the cooler 14.

[0033] The discharge flow path 25 is provided with an adjustment means 31 that adjusts the flow rate of hydrogen gas flowing through the first path portion 29a and adjusts the flow rate of hydrogen gas flowing through the second path portion 29c. In the example shown in Fig. 1, the adjustment means 31 is configured with a three-way valve 31a provided at the branch point between the first path portion 29a and the second path portion 29c. The three-way valve 31a is configured to distribute the hydrogen gas flowing through the upstream path portion 29b to the first path portion 29a and the second path portion 29c. Therefore, by changing the orientation or position of the valve body (not shown) of the three-way valve 31a, the three-way valve 31a is configured to be able to change the distribution ratio between the first path section 29a and the second path section 29c from a state in which the entire amount of flow through the upstream path section 29b flows through the first path section 29a (the second path section 29c side is closed) to a state in which the entire amount of flow through the upstream path section 29b flows through the second path section 29c (the first path section 29a side and the preheater 16 side are closed).

[0034] In the configuration of Figure 1, the three-way valve 31a is arranged at the location where the upstream path section 29b, the first path section 29a, and the second path section 29c are connected, but instead, the three-way valve 31a may be arranged at the location where the first path section 29a, the second path section 29c, and the downstream path section 29d are connected.

[0035] The compressor unit 10 is provided with a spillback section 33 for returning hydrogen gas discharged from the compression section 12 to the suction passage 21. The spillback section 33 has a spillback passage 33a and a spillback valve 33b, which is an adjustable valve arranged in the spillback passage 33a. One end of the spillback passage 33a is connected to a portion downstream of the cooler 14 in the discharge passage 25, and the other end is connected to a portion downstream of the preheater 16 in the suction passage 21. That is, the hydrogen gas that has flowed through the spillback passage 33a merges with the hydrogen gas that has passed through the preheater 16 between the preheater 16 and the compression section 12 in the suction passage 21. The portion downstream of the spillback valve 33b in the spillback passage 33a is provided with a heat insulating material 34 for suppressing heat input from the outside air. However, this heat insulating material 34 can be omitted. As shown in FIG. 3, the other end of the spillback passage 33a may be connected to a portion of the suction passage 21 upstream of the preheater 16.

[0036] The discharge flow passage 25 is provided with a pressure sensor 36 that detects the pressure of hydrogen gas flowing through the discharge flow passage 25. The pressure sensor 36 is located downstream of the connection portion of the discharge flow passage 25 with the spillback flow passage 33a.

[0037] The suction passage 21 is provided with a temperature sensor 37 that detects the temperature of the hydrogen gas flowing through the suction passage 21. The temperature sensor 37 is disposed in the suction passage 21, between the connection part of the spillback passage 33a and the compression section 12. Therefore, the temperature sensor 37 can obtain the temperature of the hydrogen gas after it has been heated by the preheater 16 (when hydrogen gas flows through the spillback passage 33a, the temperature sensor 37 can also obtain the temperature of the hydrogen gas after it has been joined with hydrogen gas from the spillback passage 33a).

[0038] The pressure sensor 36 outputs a signal indicating the detected pressure, and the temperature sensor 37 outputs a signal indicating the acquired temperature (suction temperature). The signals from the pressure sensor 36 and the temperature sensor 37 are input to a controller 39. The controller 39 is a computer that controls various operations of the compressor unit 10, and the functions of the controller 39 executed by this computer include a control unit 39a and a spillback control unit 39b. The control unit 39a is a functional unit configured to control the adjustment means 31 while referring to the suction temperature acquired by the temperature sensor 37. The spillback control unit 39b is a functional unit configured to control the spillback valve 33b based on the detected pressure of the pressure sensor 36.

[0039] Here, the control operation by the control unit 39a will be described with reference to Fig. 4. The control unit 39a determines whether the suction temperature (temperature T) is equal to or lower than a predetermined target temperature T1 (step ST13). Note that the target temperature T1 is set to a temperature higher than a reference temperature described later.

[0040] When the suction temperature (temperature T) is equal to or lower than the target temperature T1, the control unit 39a controls the adjustment means 31 so that the flow rate bypassing the preheater 16 is reduced and the flow rate flowing to the preheater 16 is increased (step ST14). That is, the three-way valve 31a as the adjustment means 31 is controlled so that the opening degree on the second path portion 29c side is reduced and the opening degree on the first path portion 29a side is increased. As a result, the amount of heat applied to the hydrogen gas flowing through the suction passage 21 is increased in the preheater 16, and the suction temperature (temperature T) is increased.

[0041] On the other hand, when the suction temperature (temperature T) is higher than the target temperature T1, the control unit 39a controls the adjustment means 31 so that the flow rate bypassing the preheater 16 increases and the flow rate flowing to the preheater 16 decreases (step ST15). That is, the three-way valve 31a as the adjustment means 31 is controlled so that the opening degree on the second path section 29c side increases and the opening degree on the first path section 29a side decreases. As a result, in the preheater 16, the amount of heat applied to the hydrogen gas flowing through the suction passage 21 decreases, and the suction temperature (temperature T) decreases. That is, the control unit 39a controls the adjustment means 31 so that the suction temperature falls within a predetermined temperature range. The temperature range is higher than a predetermined reference temperature.

[0042] This reference temperature is set based on the liquefaction temperature of air. Specifically, the reference temperature is preferably the liquefaction temperature of air. However, if the outer surfaces of the members (cylinder section 211, etc.) in contact with the outside air in compression section 12 are higher than the liquefaction temperature of air, the reference temperature can be set lower than the liquefaction temperature of air. The reference temperature may also be set so that the temperatures of the outer surfaces of the piping and instrumentation in intake passage 21 are higher than the liquefaction temperature of air. This prevents the air from liquefying even if the air around compression section 12 and intake passage 21 is cooled by the cold heat of the hydrogen gas.

[0043] The spillback control unit 39b controls the spillback valve 33b so that the pressure detected by the pressure sensor 36 becomes a predetermined set pressure. That is, when the pressure detected by the pressure sensor 36 is higher than the set pressure, the spillback valve 33b is controlled to increase the opening degree of the spillback valve 33b. As a result, the flow rate of the hydrogen gas returned to the suction passage 21 among the hydrogen gas that has passed through the cooler 14 increases, and the pressure of the hydrogen gas supplied to the demand destination 28 decreases. On the other hand, when the detected pressure is lower than the set pressure, the spillback valve 33b is controlled to decrease the opening degree of the spillback valve 33b. As a result, the flow rate of the hydrogen gas returned to the suction passage 21 among the hydrogen gas that has passed through the cooler 14 decreases, and the pressure of the hydrogen gas supplied to the demand destination 28 increases. Also, when the detected pressure coincides with the set pressure, the opening degree of the spillback valve 33b is not changed.

[0044] As described above, in this embodiment, the adjustment means 31 adjusts the flow rate of hydrogen gas that passes through the preheater 16, and also adjusts the flow rate of hydrogen gas that does not pass through the preheater 16. Furthermore, the adjustment means 31 is controlled so that the temperature of the hydrogen gas sucked into the compression section 12 falls within a predetermined temperature range. Therefore, the intake temperature of the compression section 12 can be appropriately managed. In addition, the intake temperature can be appropriately heated by utilizing the heat of the hydrogen gas (discharge gas) before it flows into the cooler 14. Furthermore, since the connection part of the spillback flow path 33a to the intake flow path 21 is located upstream of the temperature sensor 37, even if the detected gas temperature of the temperature sensor 37 changes due to the hydrogen gas returned to the intake flow path 21 by the spillback part 33, the temperature of the hydrogen gas sucked into the compression section 12 can be kept within an appropriate range. Moreover, since the temperature of the hydrogen gas sucked into the compression section 12 can be made higher than the above-mentioned reference temperature, it is possible to avoid liquefaction of oxygen, which is a combustion-supporting gas.

[0045] In this embodiment, the adjustment means 31 is configured with a three-way valve 31a. Therefore, the flow rate of hydrogen gas going to the preheater 16 and the flow rate of hydrogen gas not passing through the preheater 16 can be adjusted by one valve, which contributes to simplifying the configuration.

[0046] In addition, in this embodiment, since the suction passage 21 includes the heat insulating material 26, unintended heat input to the suction passage 21 can be suppressed, and thus the suction temperature can be controlled more appropriately.

[0047] 1 shows an example in which the adjustment means 31 is configured by a three-way valve 31a, but is not limited thereto. As shown in Fig. 5, the adjustment means 31 may be configured by a first valve 31b provided in the first path portion 29a and capable of adjusting the opening degree, and a second valve 31c provided in the second path portion 29c and capable of adjusting the opening degree.

[0048] Here, the control operation by the control unit 39a in the modified example shown in FIG. 5 will be described with reference to FIG. 6. The operation of the spillback control unit 39b is the same as that of the first embodiment, and the details will be omitted. The control unit 39a judges whether the suction temperature (temperature T) acquired by the temperature sensor 37 is equal to or higher than a predetermined upper limit temperature T2 (step ST11). If the suction temperature (temperature T) is equal to or higher than the upper limit temperature T2, the control unit 39a controls the adjustment means 31 to stop the flow of hydrogen gas through the first path portion 29a (step ST12). In this case, the first valve 31b is closed and the second valve 31c is fully opened. This stops the flow of hydrogen gas discharged from the compression unit 12 into the preheater 16. Therefore, the hydrogen gas flowing through the suction passage 21 is sucked into the compression unit 12 without being heated by the preheater 16. This makes it possible to prevent the temperature (suction temperature) of the hydrogen gas sucked into the compression unit 12 from becoming excessively high.

[0049] On the other hand, when the suction temperature (temperature T) is lower than the upper limit temperature T2, the control unit 39a judges whether the suction temperature (temperature T) is equal to or lower than a predetermined target temperature T1 (step ST13), as in Fig. 4. At this time, since the adjustment means 31 is open to at least the first path section 29a side, at least a part of the hydrogen gas discharged from the compression section 12 is introduced into the preheater 16. Note that the target temperature T1 is lower than the upper limit temperature T2.

[0050] When the suction temperature (temperature T) is equal to or lower than the target temperature T1, the control unit 39a controls the adjustment means 31 so that the flow rate bypassing the preheater 16 is reduced and the flow rate flowing to the preheater 16 is increased (step ST14). That is, the second valve 31c is controlled so that the opening degree of the second valve 31c is reduced, and the first valve 31b is controlled so that the opening degree of the first valve 31b is increased. As a result, the gas flow rate passing through the preheater 16 out of the discharge gas is increased, and the gas flow rate bypassing the preheater 16 is reduced.

[0051] On the other hand, when the suction temperature (temperature T) is higher than the target temperature T1, the control unit 39a controls the adjustment means 31 so that the flow rate bypassing the preheater 16 increases and the flow rate flowing to the preheater 16 decreases (step ST15). That is, the second valve 31c is controlled so that the opening degree of the second valve 31c increases, and the first valve 31b is controlled so that the opening degree of the first valve 31b decreases. As a result, the gas flow rate passing through the preheater 16 of the discharge gas decreases, and the gas flow rate bypassing the preheater 16 increases. That is, the inflow of the hydrogen gas discharged from the compression unit 12 into the preheater 16 is adjusted so that the suction temperature falls within a predetermined temperature range.

[0052] In the configuration shown in Fig. 5, the control operation by the control unit 39a may be performed based on Fig. 4 (i.e., steps ST11 and ST12 may be omitted from Fig. 6). Also, in the configuration shown in Fig. 1, the above-mentioned steps ST11 and ST12 may be executed.

[0053] 7, the adjustment means 31 may be configured with an adjustable valve 31d provided in the first path portion 29a and a throttle portion 31e provided in the second path portion 29c. The throttle portion 31e suppresses the flow rate of hydrogen gas flowing through the second path portion 29c. Therefore, when the valve 31d is fully opened, almost the entire amount of hydrogen gas discharged from the compression section 12 flows through the first path portion 29a. On the other hand, when the valve 31d is closed, the entire amount of hydrogen gas discharged from the compression section 12 flows through the second path portion 29c.

[0054] In this configuration, the control unit 39a performs the same control operation as in FIG. 6. In step ST12 of FIG. 6, the valve 31d of the first path section 29a is closed. As a result, the inflow of hydrogen gas discharged from the compression section 12 to the preheater 16 is stopped. In addition, in step ST14, the valve 31d is controlled so that the opening degree of the valve 31d is increased. As a result, the gas flow rate passing through the preheater 16 increases and the gas flow rate passing through the throttle section 31e decreases. In addition, in step ST15, the valve 31d is controlled so that the opening degree of the valve 31d is decreased. As a result, the gas flow rate passing through the preheater 16 decreases and the gas flow rate passing through the throttle section 31e increases. That is, the inflow of hydrogen gas discharged from the compression section 12 to the preheater 16 is adjusted so that the suction temperature is within a predetermined temperature range. In the configuration shown in FIG. 7, the control unit 39a may perform the same control operation as in FIG. 4.

[0055] Second embodiment 8 shows a second embodiment of the present invention. Note that the same components as those in the first embodiment are given the same reference numerals, and detailed description thereof will be omitted.

[0056] In the first embodiment, the discharge flow passage 25 has a first path portion 29a and a second path portion 29c, whereas in the second embodiment, the suction flow passage 21 has a first path portion 29a and a second path portion 29c. That is, the suction flow passage 21 has an upstream path portion 29b, the first path portion 29a and the second path portion 29c which branch off from the upstream path portion 29b and then merge with each other, and a downstream path portion 29d through which hydrogen gas flows after being merged from the first path portion 29a and the second path portion 29c.

[0057] The upstream path portion 29b is connected to the liquid hydrogen storage tank 23. The downstream path portion 29d is connected to the compression section 12. The first path portion 29a passes through the preheater 16, and the second path portion 29c bypasses the preheater 16.

[0058] One end of the spillback passage 33a is connected to a portion of the discharge passage 25 downstream of the cooler 14, and the other end is connected to a portion of the suction passage 21 downstream of the preheater 16. That is, the other end of the spillback passage 33a is connected to the downstream path portion 29d of the suction passage 21.

[0059] The adjustment means 31 is composed of a first valve 31b, the opening of which is adjustable, provided in the first path section 29a, and a second valve 31c, the opening of which is adjustable, provided in the second path section 29c. In this case, in step ST12 in FIG. 6 when the suction temperature (temperature T) is equal to or higher than the upper limit temperature T2, the first valve 31b is closed and the second valve 31c is fully opened. This prevents hydrogen gas flowing from the liquid hydrogen storage tank 23 toward the compression section 12 from flowing into the preheater 16. Therefore, the hydrogen gas is not heated by the preheater 16 before flowing into the compression section 12.

[0060] 6, when the suction temperature (temperature T) is equal to or lower than the target temperature T1, the second valve 31c is controlled to reduce the opening degree of the second valve 31c, and the first valve 31b is controlled to increase the opening degree of the first valve 31b. As a result, the gas flow rate passing through the preheater 16 increases, and the gas flow rate bypassing the preheater 16 decreases. Also, in step ST15, when the suction temperature (temperature T) is higher than the target temperature T1, the second valve 31c is controlled to increase the opening degree of the second valve 31c, and the first valve 31b is controlled to decrease the opening degree of the first valve 31b. As a result, the gas flow rate passing through the preheater 16 decreases, and the gas flow rate bypassing the preheater 16 increases. That is, the inflow of hydrogen gas into the preheater 16 is adjusted so that the suction temperature is within a predetermined temperature range.

[0061] 8 shows an example in which the adjusting means 31 is composed of the first valve 31b and the second valve 31c, the adjusting means 31 may be composed of a three-way valve provided at the branch point of the first path portion 29a and the second path portion 29c. The adjusting means 31 may also be composed of a valve arranged in the first path portion 29a and a throttle portion arranged in the second path portion 29c.

[0062] Although a description of the other configurations, operations, and effects will be omitted, the description of the first embodiment can be applied to the second embodiment.

[0063] Third embodiment 9 shows a third embodiment of the present invention. Note that the same components as those in the first and second embodiments are given the same reference numerals, and detailed description thereof will be omitted.

[0064] In the third embodiment, a second compression section 42 that compresses the hydrogen gas after it has been cooled by the cooler 14, and a second cooler 44 that cools the hydrogen gas compressed by the second compression section 42 are further provided.

[0065] The cooler 14, the second compression section 42, and the second cooler 44 are provided in the discharge flow passage 25. The second compression section 42 is configured by a reciprocating compression mechanism. That is, the second compression section 42 has a cylinder section, a piston, a piston rod, a pair of suction valves, and a pair of discharge valves, similar to the compression section 12. Note that, although the second compression section 42 is shown as a single trapezoid in FIG. 9 for convenience, the second compression section 42 does not necessarily have to be a single-stage type, and may be configured by multiple compression stages.

[0066] The second compression section 42 is driven by a crank mechanism common to the compression section 12. In other words, the second compression section 42 and the compression section 12 configure a single multi-stage reciprocating compressor. Note that the second compression section 42 may be configured as a reciprocating compressor independent of the compression section 12.

[0067] The cooler 14 functions as an intercooler that cools the hydrogen gas taken into the second compression section 42, and the second cooler 44 functions as an aftercooler that cools the hydrogen gas discharged from the second compression section 42. Like the cooler 14, the second cooler 44 may be water-cooled or air-cooled. The hydrogen gas cooled by the second cooler 44 is sent to the demand destination 28.

[0068] The spillback section 33 includes a first spillback section 45 and a second spillback section 46. The spillback section 33 may include only the second spillback section 46. In other words, the first spillback section 45, which is an intermediate-stage spillback section, can be omitted.

[0069] The first spillback section 45 has a first spillback flow passage 45a and a first spillback valve 45b, which is an adjustable valve arranged in the first spillback flow passage 45a. One end of the first spillback flow passage 45a is connected to a portion between the cooler 14 and the second compression section 42 in the discharge flow passage 25, and the other end is connected to a portion downstream of the preheater 16 in the suction flow passage 21. A portion downstream of the first spillback valve 45b in the first spillback flow passage 45a is provided with a heat insulating material 48 for suppressing heat input from the outside air. However, this heat insulating material 48 can be omitted. The other end of the first spillback flow passage 45a may be connected to a portion upstream of the preheater 16 in the suction flow passage 21.

[0070] The second spillback section 46 has a second spillback flow passage 46a and a second spillback valve 46b, which is an adjustable valve arranged in the second spillback flow passage 46a. One end of the second spillback flow passage 46a is connected to a portion downstream of the second cooler 44 in the discharge flow passage 25, and the other end is connected to a portion downstream of the preheater 16 in the suction flow passage 21. The portion downstream of the second spillback valve 46b in the second spillback flow passage 46a is provided with a heat insulating material 49 for suppressing heat input from the outside air. However, this heat insulating material 49 can be omitted. The other end of the second spillback flow passage 46a may be connected to a portion upstream of the preheater 16 in the suction flow passage 21.

[0071] A second pressure sensor 51 that detects the pressure of hydrogen gas that has passed through the second cooler 44 is provided in the discharge flow path 25. The second pressure sensor 51 is located downstream of the connection portion of the discharge flow path 25 with the second spillback flow path 46a.

[0072] The spillback control section 39b controls the first spillback valve 45b based on the pressure detected by the pressure sensor 36, and also controls the second spillback valve 46b based on the pressure detected by the second pressure sensor 51.

[0073] 9 shows an example in which the adjustment means 31 is configured by a three-way valve 31a, but the adjustment means 31 may be configured by a first valve with adjustable opening provided in the first path portion 29a and a second valve with adjustable opening provided in the second path portion 29c, as in the case shown in Fig. 5. The adjustment means 31 may be configured by a valve with adjustable opening provided in the first path portion 29a and a throttle portion provided in the second path portion 29c, as in the case shown in Fig. 7.

[0074] FIG. 9 shows an example in which the discharge flow path 25 has a first path portion 29a and a second path portion 29c, but instead, as in the case shown in FIG. 8, the suction flow path 21 may have the first path portion 29a and the second path portion 29c.

[0075] Although a description of the other configurations, operations, and effects will be omitted, the descriptions of the first and second embodiments can be applied to the third embodiment.

[0076] (Fourth embodiment) 10 shows a fourth embodiment of the present invention. Note that the same components as those in the first and second embodiments are given the same reference numerals, and detailed description thereof will be omitted.

[0077] In the fourth embodiment, the system further includes a pre-stage compression section 55 that compresses hydrogen gas before it is compressed in the compression section 12, an intermediate stage cooler 57 that cools the hydrogen gas compressed by the pre-stage compression section 55, and an intermediate stage spillback section 59.

[0078] The pre-compression section 55 and the intermediate stage cooler 57 are provided in the suction passage 21. The pre-compression section 55 is configured by a reciprocating compression mechanism. That is, like the compression section 12, the pre-compression section 55 has a cylinder section, a piston, a piston rod, a pair of suction valves, and a pair of discharge valves. Note that, although the pre-compression section 55 is shown as a single trapezoid in FIG. 10 for convenience, the pre-compression section 55 does not necessarily have to be a single-stage type, and may be configured by multiple compression stages.

[0079] The pre-compression section 55 is driven by a crank mechanism common to the compression section 12. In other words, the pre-compression section 55 and the compression section 12 configure a single multi-stage reciprocating compressor. Note that the pre-compression section 55 may be configured as a reciprocating compressor independent of the compression section 12.

[0080] A heat insulating material 26 is provided in the portion of the suction passage 21 from the liquid hydrogen storage tank 23 to the pre-stage compression section 55 to suppress heat input from the outside air.

[0081] The intermediate stage cooler 57 functions as an intercooler that cools the hydrogen gas before it is sucked into the compression section 12, and the cooler 14 functions as an aftercooler that cools the hydrogen gas discharged from the compression section 12. The intermediate stage cooler 57 may be of a water-cooled type or an air-cooled type, similar to the cooler 14. The hydrogen gas cooled by the cooler 14 is sent to a consumer 28.

[0082] The intermediate-stage spillback section 59 has an intermediate-stage spillback passage 59a and an intermediate-stage spillback valve 59b, which is an adjustable valve arranged in the intermediate-stage spillback passage 59a. One end of the intermediate-stage spillback passage 59a is connected to a portion between the intermediate-stage cooler 57 and the compression section 12 in the suction passage 21, and the other end is connected to a portion between the preheater 16 and the front-stage compression section 55 in the suction passage 21. A portion of the intermediate-stage spillback passage 59a downstream of the intermediate-stage spillback valve 59b is provided with a heat insulating material 48 for suppressing heat input from the outside air.

[0083] An intermediate stage pressure sensor 61 that detects the pressure of hydrogen gas that has passed through the intermediate stage cooler 57 is provided in the suction passage 21. The intermediate stage pressure sensor 61 is located downstream of the connection portion of the intermediate stage spillback passage 59a in the suction passage 21. Therefore, the intermediate stage pressure sensor 61 can detect the pressure of hydrogen gas sucked into the compression section 12.

[0084] The spillback control section 39b controls the intermediate stage spillback valve 59b based on the pressure detected by the intermediate stage pressure sensor 61, and also controls the spillback valve 33b based on the pressure detected by the pressure sensor .

[0085] It should be noted that the explanations of the other configurations, operations and effects will be omitted, but the explanations of the first to third embodiments can be applied to the fourth embodiment.

[0086] Fifth embodiment 11 shows a fifth embodiment of the present invention. Note that the same components as those in the first to fourth embodiments are given the same reference numerals, and detailed description thereof will be omitted.

[0087] In the first embodiment, the temperature sensor 37 is located in the suction passage 21 and directly detects the suction temperature. In contrast, in the fifth embodiment, the temperature sensor 37 is located in the discharge passage 25 and is configured to detect the discharge temperature. The temperature sensor 37 is disposed in the upstream path portion 29b in the discharge passage 25. That is, the temperature sensor 37 is disposed between the preheater 16 and the compression section 12 in the discharge passage 25.

[0088] The functions of the controller 39 include a calculation unit 39c that estimates the suction temperature of the compression unit 12 based on the discharge temperature acquired by the temperature sensor 37. The calculation unit 39c is configured to derive the suction temperature from the discharge temperature using a relational expression, a map, or the like that associates the discharge temperature with the suction temperature, which is stored in the controller 39. The relational expression may be, for example, a relational expression that assumes that the hydrogen gas is adiabatically compressed in the compression unit 12 and that specifies the relationship between the suction pressure, the suction temperature, the discharge pressure, and the discharge temperature. The map may be a map of data obtained by a preliminary test and configured to associate the suction temperature with the discharge temperature.

[0089] In the flow shown in Fig. 4, before step ST13 is executed, the suction temperature is estimated by calculation unit 39c based on the discharge temperature, and the suction temperature estimated by calculation unit 39c is used in step ST13. The rest of the control flow is the same as the flow in Fig. 4.

[0090] Therefore, in this embodiment, the adjustment means 31 adjusts the flow rate of hydrogen gas that passes through the preheater 16, and also adjusts the flow rate of hydrogen gas that does not pass through the preheater 16. Furthermore, the adjustment means 31 is controlled so that the temperature of the hydrogen gas sucked into the compression section 12 falls within a predetermined temperature range. Therefore, the suction temperature of the compression section 12 can be appropriately managed. In addition, by utilizing the heat of the hydrogen gas (discharge gas) before it flows into the cooler 14, the suction temperature can be appropriately raised.

[0091] 11 shows an example in which the adjustment means 31 is configured by a three-way valve 31a, but the adjustment means 31 may be configured by a first valve 31b provided in the first path portion 29a and capable of adjusting the opening degree, and a second valve 31c provided in the second path portion 29c and capable of adjusting the opening degree, as in the case shown in Fig. 5. The adjustment means 31 may be configured by a valve 31d provided in the first path portion 29a and capable of adjusting the opening degree, and a throttle portion 31e provided in the second path portion 29c, as in the case shown in Fig. 7.

[0092] In FIG. 11, an example is shown in which the discharge passage 25 has the first path portion 29a and the second path portion 29c. Instead of this, the suction passage 21 may have the first path portion 29a and the second path portion 29c as in the case shown in FIG. 8. Also, a second compression section and a second cooler may be further provided as in the case shown in FIG. 9. In this case, the spillback section 33 may have a first spillback section and a second spillback section. Also, a configuration may be provided with a front compression section 55, an intermediate stage cooler 57, and an intermediate stage spillback section 59 as in the configuration shown in FIG. 10. Also, in the configuration of FIG. 11, the control operation shown in FIG. 6 may be performed.

[0093] Although a description of the other configurations, operations, and effects will be omitted, the descriptions of the first to fourth embodiments can be applied to the fifth embodiment.

[0094] The embodiments disclosed herein are illustrative in all respects and should not be construed as limiting. The scope of the present invention is defined by the claims, not the above description, and is intended to include all modifications within the scope and meaning equivalent to the claims.

[0095] 1, the spillback valve 33b may be controlled based on a detection value of a pressure sensor provided in the suction passage 21. Also, the spillback valve 33b may be controlled based on both the pressure sensor 36 and a pressure sensor provided in the suction passage 21. Furthermore, the spillback valve 33b may be controlled based on a flow rate sensor instead of the pressure sensor 36. The same applies to the spillback valves in the other embodiments.
