Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a technique for joining a plurality of members. [Background technology]
[0002] Techniques for bonding multiple members made of different materials with a silane coupling agent have been proposed in the past. For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a technique for bonding a sheet made of silicone rubber and a sheet made of a resin material or a metal material with one type of silane coupling agent. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]
[0003] [Patent Document 1] JP 2014-62224 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] However, in the case where one type of silane coupling agent is used, it is difficult to ensure sufficient durability of the bond between the members, and problems such as peeling between the members are likely to occur, particularly in a high humidity environment. In consideration of the above circumstances, one aspect of the present disclosure aims to ensure sufficient durability of the bond between the first member and the second member. [Means for solving the problem]
[0005] A laminate according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises a first member formed of silicone rubber, a second member formed of polystyrene, and an adhesive layer bonding a first surface of the first member and a second surface of the second member, the adhesive layer including a first layer formed on the first surface using a silane coupling agent having an epoxy group, and a second layer formed on the second surface using a silane coupling agent having an amino group.
[0006] A method for manufacturing a laminate according to one embodiment of the present invention includes a first application step of applying a first adhesive containing a silane coupling agent having an epoxy group to a first surface of a first member formed of silicone rubber, a second application step of applying a second adhesive containing a silane coupling agent having an amino group to a second surface of a second member formed of polystyrene, and a bonding step of bonding the first surface of the first member and the second surface of the second member with the first adhesive and the second adhesive. The order of the first application step and the second application step is arbitrary. For example, the above embodiments include a form in which the second application step is performed after the first application step, a form in which the first application step is performed after the second application step, or a form in which the first application step and the second application step are performed in parallel in part or in whole. Effect of the Invention
[0007] According to the present invention, the durability of the bond between the first member and the second member can be sufficiently ensured. [Brief description of the drawings]
[0008] [Figure 1] FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of a laminate according to an embodiment. [Diagram 2] FIG. 4 is an explanatory diagram regarding joining of a first member and a second member. [Diagram 3] 1A to 1C are process diagrams illustrating a manufacturing process of a laminate. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0009] A: Laminate 1 is a cross-sectional view of a laminate 100 according to one embodiment of the present invention. The laminate 100 of this embodiment is a well plate used for culturing, for example, various types of cells (more specifically, spheroids), and includes a first member 10, a second member 20, and an adhesive layer 30.
[0010] The first member 10 is a thin plate-like molded body made of silicone rubber. That is, the first member 10 is a member containing silicone rubber as a material. The silicone rubber is, for example, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). The first member 10 has a first surface 11. A large number of minute recesses (not shown) are formed on the first surface 11. Each recess is, for example, a hemispherical depression with a diameter of about 1 mm.
[0011] The second member 20 is a thin plate-like molded body made of polystyrene (PS). That is, the second member 20 is a member containing polystyrene as a material. The first member 10 and the second member 20 are made of different types of resin materials. The outer dimensions of the first member 10 and the second member 20 are substantially the same. The second member 20 has a second surface 21. The first surface 11 of the first member 10 and the second surface 21 of the second member 20 face each other. A plurality of through holes 22 are formed in the second member 20. Each through hole 22 is a circular opening penetrating the second member 20. The plurality of through holes 22 are arranged in a matrix. The diameter of the through hole 22 is sufficiently larger than the diameter of the recess in the first surface 11. Cells to be cultured are accommodated in a space inside each through hole 22 with the first surface 11 of the first member 10 as the bottom surface.
[0012] An adhesive layer 30 is interposed between the first member 10 and the second member 20. The adhesive layer 30 is a bonding material for bonding the first surface 11 and the second surface 21. The adhesive layer 30 is composed of a laminate of a first layer 31 and a second layer 32. The first layer 31 is formed by a first adhesive applied to the first surface 11. The second layer 32 is formed by a second adhesive applied to the second surface 21. The first member 10 and the second member 20 are bonded to each other by the bond between the first adhesive and the second adhesive. The first adhesive and the second adhesive are composed of different materials. Specifically, the first adhesive and the second adhesive contain silane coupling agents having different functional groups.
[0013] The first adhesive contains a silane coupling agent having an epoxy group as a functional group (hereinafter referred to as "epoxy silane coupling agent"). Examples of the epoxy silane coupling agent include 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane having a glycidyl group containing an epoxy group, and 2-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl)ethyltrimethoxysilane having an epoxy group. In addition, 3-glycidoxypropylmethyldimethoxysilane, 3-glycidoxypropylmethyldiethoxysilane, 3-glycidoxypropyltriethoxysilane, etc. may be used as the epoxy silane coupling agent having a glycidyl group.
[0014] The second adhesive contains a silane coupling agent having an amino group as a functional group (hereinafter referred to as "aminosilane coupling agent"). An example of the aminosilane coupling agent is 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane. In addition, for example, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, N-2-(aminoethyl)-3-aminopropylmethyldimethoxysilane, or N-2-(aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane may be used as the aminosilane coupling agent.
[0015] 2, the epoxy group of the epoxy silane coupling agent (first adhesive) constituting the first layer 31 of the adhesive layer 30 and the amino group of the amino silane coupling agent (second adhesive) constituting the second layer 32 are chemically bonded to each other, thereby bonding the first member 10 and the second member 20. Specifically, two epoxy groups of the first layer 31 react with one amino group of the second layer 32 to form a chemical bond.
[0016] As described above, in this embodiment, the first member 10 and the second member 20 are bonded by the adhesive layer 30 including the first layer 31 formed on the first surface 11 of the first member 10 made of silicone rubber and the second layer 32 formed on the second surface 21 of the second member 20 made of polystyrene. The first layer 31 is formed of a silane coupling agent having an epoxy group, and the second layer 32 is formed of a silane coupling agent having an amino group. Therefore, compared to a form in which the first member 10 and the second member 20 are bonded by one type of silane coupling agent, the durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20 can be maintained at a high level. In addition, the improved adhesive strength of the adhesive layer 30 suppresses the intrusion of moisture, and as a result, the water resistance can also be improved.
[0017] B: Method for manufacturing laminate 100 Fig. 3 is a process diagram illustrating a procedure for manufacturing the laminate 100. As illustrated in Fig. 3, the manufacturing process of the laminate 100 includes a first step Sa relating to the first member 10 and the first layer 31, a second step Sb relating to the second member 20 and the second layer 32, and a joining step Sc of joining the first member 10 and the second member 20 together.
[0018] B1: 1st process Sa The first step Sa includes a first activation step Sa1, a first preparation step Sa2, and a first application step Sa3. Although Fig. 3 illustrates a case in which the first activation step Sa1 is performed followed by the first preparation step Sa2 for convenience, the time relationship between the first activation step Sa1 and the first preparation step Sa2 is arbitrary. That is, the first activation step Sa1 may be performed after the first preparation step Sa2 is performed, or the first activation step Sa1 and the first preparation step Sa2 may be performed in parallel.
[0019] In the first activation step Sa1, a surface treatment is performed to activate the first surface 11 of the first member 10 by light irradiation. Specifically, the surface treatment in the first activation step Sa1 is a treatment of irradiating the first surface 11 with excimer light (vacuum ultraviolet light: VUV). Specifically, the first surface 11 is irradiated with excimer light for, for example, 15 seconds.
[0020] In the first preparation step Sa2, a first adhesive containing an epoxy silane coupling agent is prepared. Specifically, the first adhesive is generated by mixing the epoxy silane coupling agent with a solvent. The solvent is, for example, a mixed solution in which ethanol and water are mixed in a mixing ratio of 9:1, or a mixed solution in which isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and water are mixed in a mixing ratio of 9:1. However, the type of the solvent is not limited to the above examples. In the first preparation step Sa2, the first adhesive is prepared by mixing the epoxy silane coupling agent with the solvent at a concentration of 1 wt% (weight percent) or more and 10 wt% or less.
[0021] After the first activation step Sa1 and the first preparation step Sa2 are performed, the first application step Sa3 is performed. In the first application step Sa3, the first adhesive is applied to the first surface 11 of the first member 10. For example, a brush, a spray, or a roller is used to apply the first adhesive. The first adhesive may be applied to the first surface 11 of the first member 10 by immersing the first surface 11 in the first adhesive. The above is a specific example of the first step Sa.
[0022] B2: 2nd process Sb The second step Sb includes a second activation step Sb1, a second preparation step Sb2, and a second application step Sb3. Although FIG. 3 illustrates a case in which the second activation step Sb1 is performed after the second preparation step Sb2, the time relationship between the second activation step Sb1 and the second preparation step Sb2 is arbitrary. That is, the second activation step Sb1 may be performed after the second preparation step Sb2 is performed, or the second activation step Sb1 and the second preparation step Sb2 may be performed in parallel.
[0023] In the second activation step Sb1, a surface treatment is performed to activate the second surface 21 of the second member 20 by light irradiation. Specifically, the surface treatment in the second activation step Sb1 is a treatment to irradiate the second surface 21 with excimer light, similar to the first activation step Sa1. Specifically, the second surface 21 is irradiated with excimer light for, for example, 30 seconds. That is, the time during which the second surface 21 is irradiated with excimer light in the second activation step Sb1 is longer than the time during which the first surface 11 is irradiated with excimer light in the first activation step Sa1. However, the specific time lengths and the relationship between the first activation step Sa1 and the second activation step Sb1 are not limited to the above examples.
[0024] In the second preparation step Sb2, a second adhesive containing an aminosilane coupling agent is prepared. Specifically, the second adhesive is generated by mixing the aminosilane coupling agent with a solvent. In the second preparation step Sb2, the second adhesive is prepared by mixing the aminosilane coupling agent with the solvent at a concentration of 1 wt% or more and 10 wt% or less.
[0025] After the second activation step Sb1 and the second preparation step Sb2 are performed, the second application step Sb3 is performed. In the second application step Sb3, the second adhesive is applied to the second surface 21 of the second member 20. As in the above-mentioned first application step Sa3, the second adhesive is applied using, for example, a brush, a spray, or a roller. The second adhesive may be applied to the second surface 21 of the second member 20 by immersing the second surface 21 in the second adhesive. The above is a specific example of the second step Sb.
[0026] B3: Bonding process Sc After the first step Sa and the second step Sb are performed, the joining step Sc is performed. In the joining step Sc, the first surface 11 of the first member 10 and the second surface 21 of the second member 20 are joined to each other by the first adhesive and the second adhesive. The joining step Sc is started about 5 minutes after the end of the first step Sa and the second step Sb. The joining step Sc includes an arrangement step Sc1 and a pressure bonding step Sc2.
[0027] In the arrangement step Sc1, the first member 10 and the second member 20 are arranged so that the first adhesive on the first surface 11 and the second adhesive on the second surface 21 are in contact with each other. In the arrangement step Sc1, excess solution is removed by blowing air onto the first adhesive on the first surface 11 and the second adhesive on the second surface 21. Also, in the arrangement step Sc1, air bubbles are removed between the first adhesive and the second adhesive, thereby allowing the first adhesive and the second adhesive to adhere sufficiently without any gaps.
[0028] In the pressure bonding process Sc2, the first member 10 and the second member 20 are mutually pressed while being heated, so that the first member 10 and the second member 20 are bonded to each other. Specifically, the first member 10 and the second member 20 are mutually pressed, for example, with a pressure in the range of 0.002 MPa to 1.2 MPa, while being heated to a predetermined temperature in the range of 80°C to 90°C. In the pressure bonding process Sc2, the epoxy group (glycidyl group) of the epoxy silane coupling agent in the first adhesive and the amino group of the amino silane coupling agent in the second adhesive are bonded, and the first adhesive and the second adhesive are cured to form the adhesive layer 30.
[0029] As described above, in this embodiment, the first adhesive is applied to the first surface 11 of the first member 10 made of silicone rubber, and the second adhesive is applied to the second surface 21 of the second member 20 made of polystyrene. The first adhesive contains a silane coupling agent having an epoxy group (glycidyl group), and the second adhesive contains a silane coupling agent having an amino group. Therefore, compared to a form in which the first member 10 and the second member 20 are bonded together by one type of silane coupling agent, it is possible to maintain a high level of durability regarding the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20.
[0030] However, in the technique described in Patent Document 1, it is necessary to perform a corona discharge treatment, an ultraviolet irradiation treatment, or a plasma treatment both before and after application of the adhesive containing a silane coupling agent. In contrast to the technique of Patent Document 1, in the present embodiment, the first member 10 and the second member 20 can be firmly bonded by activating the first surface 11 and the second surface 21 with excimer light before application of the adhesive. That is, activation of the first surface 11 and the second surface 21 after application of the adhesive is not required. Therefore, there is also an advantage that the manufacturing process of the laminate 100 is simplified compared to the technique of Patent Document 1. EXAMPLES
[0031] The following examples of the present invention will be described. Note that the following examples are merely examples of the present invention. Therefore, the scope of the present invention is not limited to the following examples.
[0032] Table 1 is a diagram showing the manufacturing conditions and evaluation test results for Examples 1 to 5 of the present invention. Table 2 is a diagram showing the manufacturing conditions and evaluation test results for Reference Examples 1 to 5 compared with each Example. In each Example and Reference Example, a PDMS sheet molded into a rectangular shape of a given size (110 mm x 74 mm) was used as the first member 10, and a polystyrene well plate of the same size (110 mm x 74 mm) as the first member 10 was used as the second member 20. In Tables 1 and 2, "PDMS" refers to the first member 10, and "polystyrene" refers to the second member 20.
[0033] [Table 1] [Table 2]
[0034] "Glycidyl group" in Tables 1 and 2 means an epoxy silane coupling agent having a glycidyl group. Specifically, 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (product code: DOWSIL Z-6040) manufactured by Dow was used as the epoxy silane coupling agent. Also, "epoxy group" in Table 1 means an epoxy silane coupling agent having an epoxy group. Specifically, 2-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl)ethyltrimethoxysilane (product code: E0327) manufactured by Tokyo Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. was used as the epoxy silane coupling agent.
[0035] In Tables 1 and 2, "amino group" refers to an aminosilane coupling agent having an amino group. Specifically, 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (product code: A0439) manufactured by Tokyo Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. was used as the aminosilane coupling agent. In Table 2, "thiol group" refers to a silane coupling agent having a thiol group as a functional group. Specifically, (3-mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane (product code: M0928) manufactured by Tokyo Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. was used as the "thiol group" in Table 2.
[0036] The details of each embodiment are as follows. [Example 1] In Example 1, an epoxy silane coupling agent (3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane) having a glycidyl group was applied to the first surface 11 of the first member 10, and a second adhesive containing an amino silane coupling agent (3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane) was applied to the second surface 21 of the second member 20. In the first adhesive and the second adhesive, a mixed solution in which ethanol and water were mixed at a mixing ratio of 9:1 was used as a solvent, and the concentration of the silane coupling agent was 1 wt%. In addition, the first member 10 to which the first adhesive was applied and the second member 20 to which the second adhesive was applied were joined to each other by applying a pressure of 1.2 MPa (load of 1 t) in a state of being heated to 80°C.
[0037] [Example 2] In Example 2, the concentration of the silane coupling agent in the first adhesive and the second adhesive was changed to 5 wt % from 1 wt % in Example 1. The conditions other than the concentration of the silane coupling agent were the same as in Example 1. [Example 3] In Example 3, the concentration of the silane coupling agent in the first adhesive and the second adhesive was changed to 10 wt % from 1 wt % in Example 1. The conditions other than the concentration of the silane coupling agent were the same as in Example 1.
[0038] [Example 4] In Example 4, the silane coupling agent in the first adhesive was changed to 2-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl)ethyltrimethoxysilane having an epoxy group. The conditions other than the silane coupling agent in the first adhesive were the same as those in Example 1. [Example 5] In Example 5, the solvent for the first adhesive and the second adhesive was changed to a mixed solution of isopropyl alcohol and water in a mixing ratio of 9: 1. The conditions other than the solvent were the same as those in Example 1.
[0039] Details of each reference example are as follows. [Reference example 1] In Reference Example 1, an adhesive (hereinafter referred to as a "mixed adhesive") in which an epoxy silane coupling agent (3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane) and an amino silane coupling agent (3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane) were mixed was used to bond the first member 10 and the second member 20. Specifically, the first member 10 and the second member 20 were bonded by applying the mixed adhesive to both the first surface 11 of the first member 10 and the second surface 21 of the second member 20. The conditions other than the adhesive were the same as in Example 1.
[0040] [Reference example 2] In Reference Example 2, the first member 10 and the second member 20 were bonded together using only an aminosilane coupling agent (3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane). Specifically, the first member 10 and the second member 20 were bonded together by the aminosilane coupling agent applied to the second surface 21 of the second member 20. No adhesive was applied to the first surface 11 of the first member 10. The conditions other than the adhesive were the same as those in Example 1. [Reference example 3] In Reference Example 3, the first member 10 and the second member 20 were bonded together using only an epoxy silane coupling agent (3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane). Specifically, the first member 10 and the second member 20 were bonded together by the epoxy silane coupling agent applied to the first surface 11 of the first member 10. No adhesive was applied to the second surface 21 of the second member 20. The conditions other than the adhesive were the same as those in Example 1.
[0041] [Reference example 4] In Reference Example 4, a second adhesive containing an aminosilane coupling agent (3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane) was applied to the first surface 11 of the first member 10, and an epoxysilane coupling agent having a glycidyl group (3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane) was applied to the second surface 21 of the second member 20. That is, the combination of the first member 10 and the second member 20 with the type of silane coupling agent was reversed from that of Example 1. The conditions other than the adhesive were the same as those of Example 1.
[0042] [Reference example 5] In Reference Example 5, an epoxy silane coupling agent having a glycidyl group (3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane) was applied to the first surface 11 of the first member 10, and a silane coupling agent having a thiol group ((3-mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane) was applied to the second surface 21 of the second member 20. That is, the type of silane coupling agent applied to the second surface 21 was changed from that in Example 1. The conditions other than the adhesive were the same as in Example 1.
[0043] An evaluation test was carried out for evaluating the durability of each of the above-mentioned examples. The evaluation test was a test to evaluate the durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20 and the water resistance of the adhesive, and was carried out with the samples of each of the above-mentioned examples immersed in water at 50°C. Specifically, a process was carried out for seven days in which an external force such as a tensile force was applied to each sample every 24 hours, and the presence or absence of peeling between the first member 10 and the second member 20 was judged after the execution. The "Result" in the following chart indicates the presence or absence of peeling in the evaluation test.
[0044] As can be seen from Tables 1 and 2, in Reference Examples 1 to 5, peeling occurred between the first member 10 and the second member 20, whereas in Examples 1 to 5, peeling did not occur between the first member 10 and the second member 20.
[0045] By comparing Reference Example 1 with Examples 1 to 5, it was confirmed that an adhesive in which an epoxy silane coupling agent and an amino silane coupling agent were mixed could not sufficiently ensure the durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20. That is, as in Examples 1 to 5, it was confirmed that the durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20 could be sufficiently ensured by applying each of the epoxy silane coupling agent and the amino silane coupling agent alone to members (the first member 10 and the second member 20) made of different materials and then bonding the first member 10 and the second member 20 together.
[0046] By comparing Reference Examples 2 and 3 with Examples 1 to 5, it was confirmed that when an epoxy silane coupling agent or an amino silane coupling agent is used alone, durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20 cannot be sufficiently ensured. That is, it was confirmed that durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20 can be sufficiently ensured by using both an epoxy silane coupling agent and an amino silane coupling agent as in Examples 1 to 5.
[0047] By comparing Reference Example 4 with Examples 1 to 5, it was confirmed that the durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20 cannot be sufficiently ensured in a configuration in which an aminosilane coupling agent is applied to the first surface 11 of the first member 10 made of silicone rubber and an epoxysilane coupling agent is applied to the second surface 21 of the second member 20 made of polystyrene. That is, it was confirmed that the durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20 can be sufficiently ensured by a combination of applying a first adhesive of an epoxysilane coupling agent to the first member 10 made of silicone rubber and applying a second adhesive of an aminosilane coupling agent to the second member 20 made of polystyrene, as in Examples 1 to 5.
[0048] By comparing Reference Example 5 with Examples 1 to 5, it was confirmed that in a configuration in which a silane coupling agent other than an aminosilane coupling agent is used as the silane coupling agent applied to the second member 20, the durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20 cannot be sufficiently ensured. That is, it was confirmed that by using an aminosilane coupling agent as the second adhesive applied to the second member 20 as in Examples 1 to 5, the durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20 can be sufficiently ensured.
[0049] Furthermore, it was confirmed from Examples 1 to 3 that when the concentration of the silane coupling agent in each of the first adhesive and the second adhesive is within the range of 1 wt % or more and 10 wt % or less, the durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20 can be sufficiently ensured.
[0050] Example 4 confirmed that the durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20 can be sufficiently ensured not only when an epoxy silane coupling agent having a glycidyl group as a functional group is used as the first adhesive, but also when an epoxy silane coupling agent not containing glycidyl is used as the first adhesive.
[0051] Example 5 confirmed that the durability of the bond between the first member 10 and the second member 20 can be sufficiently ensured even when a mixed solution of isopropyl alcohol and water is used as the solvent for each of the first adhesive and the second adhesive, in addition to a mixed solution of ethanol and water.
[0052] D: Variation Specific modified embodiments added to each of the above-mentioned embodiments are exemplified below. Two or more embodiments selected from the following examples may be appropriately combined as long as they are not mutually contradictory.
[0053] (1) In the above embodiment, the time relationship between the first step Sa and the second step Sb is arbitrary. That is, the second step Sb may be executed after the first step Sa, or the first step Sa may be executed after the second step Sb. Also, a part or all of the first step Sa and a part or all of the second step Sb may be executed in parallel with each other.
[0054] As can be understood from the above examples, the designations "first" and "second" in this application are used only as formal and convenient labels for distinguishing each element in the description, and do not have any substantial meaning. Specifically, the designations "first" and "second" do not refer to the position or manufacturing order of each element. Therefore, there is no room for a restrictive interpretation that a process to which "first" is attached precedes a process to which "second" is attached.
[0055] (2) In the above embodiment, a well plate used for cell culture is exemplified as the laminate 100, but the use of the laminate 100 manufactured by the manufacturing process illustrated in Fig. 3 is not limited to the above example. The shapes or dimensions of the first member 10 and the second member 20 are changed as desired depending on the use of the laminate 100. For example, the aforementioned through-hole 22 is not essential. [Explanation of symbols]
