[0086] In the cylinder head 4 of this embodiment, the region 53 adjacent to the intake side oil supply pipe portion 15 and the exhaust side oil supply pipe portion 16 in the front wall 4a of the cylinder head 4 has high rigidity and is less susceptible to vibration.

[0087] Therefore, in the mounting structure of the chain cover 40 of the engine 1 in this embodiment, the central boss 4A is positioned in the area 53 between the bosses 15A and 16A, so that the central boss 4A can be reinforced by the highly rigid bosses 15A and 16A, and vibration of the central boss 4A can be suppressed.

[0088] Therefore, by fastening the central boss 45A of the chain cover 40 to the central boss 4A having high rigidity with the bolt 33C, vibration of the chain cover 40 can be suppressed.

[0089] In this manner, the mounting structure of the chain cover 40 of the engine 1 can increase the rigidity of the portion of the front wall 4a of the cylinder head 4 to which the chain cover 40 is fastened, and vibration of the chain cover 40 can be suppressed.

[0090] Furthermore, the mounting structure of the chain cover 40 of the engine 1 of this embodiment is provided with an intake side lash adjuster 10 that is provided on the cylinder head 4 and adjusts the valve clearance of the intake valve 8, and an exhaust side lash adjuster 11 that is provided on the cylinder head 4 and adjusts the valve clearance of the exhaust valve 9.

[0091] The intake side oil supply pipe section 15 supplies oil to the intake side lash adjuster 10 , and the exhaust side oil supply pipe section 16 supplies oil to the exhaust side lash adjuster 11 .

[0092] As a result, vibration of central boss 4A can be suppressed simply by installing intake side oil supply pipe section 15 for intake side lash adjuster 10 and exhaust side oil supply pipe section 16 for exhaust side lash adjuster 11, which are already installed in cylinder head 4, near central boss 4A.

[0093] As a result, the structure of the cylinder head 4 can be simplified compared to adding a dedicated rib to the front wall 4a of the cylinder head 4 to reinforce the central boss 4A, and as a result, the structure of the engine 1 can be simplified.

[0094] In addition, according to the mounting structure of the chain cover 40 of the engine 1 in this embodiment, the chain cover 40 has a mount attachment portion 44 to which a mount bracket 51A that supports the engine body 2 to the side member 31 is attached, and the mount attachment portion 44 bulges out in a direction away from the engine body 2 relative to the vertical wall 41 of the chain cover 40.

[0095] Here, since the mount attachment portion 44 of the chain cover 40 has a large outward protruding length, the portion above the mount attachment portion 44 is prone to vibrating due to the rocking of the engine 1 .

[0096] According to the mounting structure of the chain cover 40 of the engine 1 in this embodiment, the central boss 4A on the front wall 4a side, which has high rigidity, is connected to the central boss 45A on the chain cover 40 side, which is installed above the mount attachment portion 44, so that vibration of the chain cover 40 can be more effectively suppressed.

[0097] According to the mounting structure of the chain cover 40 of the engine 1 of this embodiment, the front wall 4 a has the main oil supply pipe portion 46 and the sub oil supply pipe portion 47 .

[0098] The main oil supply pipe section 46 extends in the vertical direction of the front wall 4a, and the sub oil supply pipe section 47 extends from the main oil supply pipe section 46 in the width direction of the front wall 4a and then extends upward.

[0099] In addition, the central boss 4A is located in an area 54 adjacent to the main oil supply pipe section 46 and the secondary oil supply pipe section 47.

[0100] This allows the front wall 4a to be reinforced by the main oil supply pipe portion 46 and the secondary oil supply pipe portion 47, both of which have high rigidity. Therefore, by disposing the central boss 4A in the highly rigid area 54 adjacent to the main oil supply pipe portion 46 and the secondary oil supply pipe portion 47, vibration of the central boss 4A can be more effectively suppressed, and vibration of the chain cover 40 can be more effectively suppressed.

[0101] Furthermore, according to the mounting structure of the chain cover 40 of the engine 1 in this embodiment, the central boss 45A and the central boss 45B are connected by the first rib 48A, the central boss 45B and the left side wall portion 42 are connected by the second rib 48B, and the central boss 45B and the right side wall portion 43 are connected by the third rib 48C.

[0102] This allows central boss 45A to be more firmly reinforced by ribs 48A, 48B, 48C in addition to bosses 15A and 16A, and vibration of central boss 4A can be more effectively suppressed. As a result, vibration of chain cover 40 can be more effectively suppressed.

[0103] Although an embodiment of the invention has been disclosed, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such modifications and equivalents are intended to be encompassed by the following claims.
