Description

[Technical field]

[0001] FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE The present disclosure relates to improved user interfaces. In particular, a system and method for aggregating content identifiers from different content sources within a super interface application is disclosed. [Background technology]

[0002] A user has many options for content that is accessible through various content sources. For example, a user may utilize a user device to stream content from multiple content sources (e.g., content providers such as Netflix, AMAZON PRIME, etc.). However, the user typically requires an application that is tied to the content source (e.g., a Netflix app) to access the content. When a user desires to consume content from different content sources using a user device, the user device may need to run a different application for each content source. The user may be required to quit an application and launch another application on the user device (e.g., to check for content that may be available from different content providers). To browse content identifiers from different content sources, the user would need to switch between applications and provide additional user input on the user device (e.g., logging into separate accounts, opening and closing applications, performing search queries within each application, etc.). This may waste resources since multiple user accounts need to be individually configured. With a large amount of content available from various content sources for user consumption, having multiple applications for each content source can be time-consuming, confusing and irritating to the user by having to switch between applications, which can detract from the user's entertainment experience.

[0003] To make matters worse, browsing in a first application may not affect the interface of a second application. Each application may have a corresponding interface that lacks connectivity with the interfaces of the other applications. For example, a first application may store browsing history and / or user activity in a user profile for a user device. When the user device switches to a second application, the second application may not have access to any information from the first application due to the lack of connectivity between the applications. As a result, the second application may lack real-time updates, for example, based on the user device executing instructions for browsing content identifiers in the first application. In one approach, a general user profile accessible to different applications may store browsing history and user activity such that the different applications may have access to, for example, the browsing history. However, a general user profile cannot be used to, for example, update a content identifier in a second application when browsing a content identifier in a first application at a user device because the user device would need to continually launch the second application (potentially wasting device memory and processor cycles to keep multiple applications active.) A general user profile also cannot support real-time updates when browsing content identifiers from multiple content sources due to the lack of inter-application connectivity tied to the content sources.

[0004] In addition, application interfaces tied to content sources may not have much customization that a user may prefer. Such application interfaces are usually defined by a service provider associated with the content source, and a user device may be restricted from making changes to the application interface (e.g., adjusting the display size for a section or selecting the type of content identifier to be displayed). For example, the application interface may be displayed on a small screen (e.g., on a mobile device) with limited space. Due to the variety of displays available to users, the interface defined by the content source may not be able to be fully adapted for an individual user's display device. The user device may display non-related content identifiers because the application interface may restrict the user device from selecting the content identifier to be displayed. For example, a section of the application interface is restricted to display advertisements or additional content genres (e.g., horror) that the user may not prefer. A user may find such application interfaces too restrictive. In addition, there is no mechanism for sharing customized interfaces for multiple sources between users. Summary of the Invention [Means for solving the problem]

[0005] To overcome these problems, systems and methods are provided herein for a customizable and shareable super-interface application that aggregates content identifiers from multiple content sources and allows updates to emerge as a user browses an interface to access one of the multiple content sources to access other content sources. Instead of several different applications that may be tied to a content source, a user may be provided with a super-interface that comprises multiple simultaneously accessible interfaces for browsing and consuming content.

[0006] In some embodiments, the super interface application generates a super interface for display. The super interface may comprise a first interface comprising an identifier corresponding to a first plurality of content items available from a first content source and a second interface comprising an identifier corresponding to a second plurality of content items available from a second content source. The content identifier may include, but is not limited to, text data (e.g., a title), image data (e.g., a photo or poster), or a combination thereof. The first and second interfaces may be accessible to the first device simultaneously (e.g., displayed on a screen or accessible via a single click, e.g., using multiple tabs). For example, the first interface may comprise a content identifier from a first content provider (e.g., Netflix) and the second interface may comprise a content identifier from a second content provider (e.g., AMAZON PRIME). The super interface application may enable the user device to access content selection interfaces for the first and second content providers simultaneously. In another non-limiting example, the second interface may comprise content from a content database (e.g., the Internet Movie Database or IMDB). In some aspects, the super interface application may update the second interface (e.g., to comprise a content identifier related to a content identifier displayed in the first interface) based on a user's interaction with the first interface.

[0007] In some embodiments, the super interface application may monitor user interactions with the super interface. The super interface application may detect user preferences based on the user interactions with the first interface. The super interface application may update the second interface to comprise identifiers of a third plurality of content items available from a second content source. In some embodiments, the super interface application may select the third plurality of content items based on user preferences detected from the user interactions with the first interface. For example, a user interface of a user device may be used to scroll through a first content category comprising a genre (e.g., “Popular” on Netflix). In this example, the super interface application may determine that a user at the user device prefers the first content category based on the scrolling (e.g., the “Popular” category). The super interface application may automatically update the second interface to comprise content associated with the first content category available from a second content source (e.g., “Popular Movies” on AMAZON PRIME). For example, the super interface application may update the second interface in real time to include identifiers of the third plurality of content items as the user interacts with the first interface. In some embodiments, the super interface application may immediately update the second interface in response to detection of a user preference (e.g., when a user browses through a category instead of switching categories).

[0008] Although a user device may perform interactions with an interface on the user device in various ways (e.g., browsing, zooming in a display, rotating, tapping, etc.), not all interactions may indicate a user preference. In some embodiments, the super interface application may determine whether a user interaction indicates a user preference. The super interface application may update the second interface in response to determining that the user interaction indicates a user preference. For example, a user interaction at one user device may enlarge a display (e.g., pinching a touch-sensitive screen) for improved viewing of a content identifier in the first interface. In this example, the super interface application may determine that the enlargement of the display does not indicate a particular interest in the content item. In another non-limiting example, a user interaction at one user device may enlarge a display of a content identifier for a particular content item in the first interface. In this example, the super interface application may determine that the enlargement of the display of the content identifier indicates a user preference for the particular content item. The super interface may then decide to update the second interface based on the user preferences for a particular content item (eg, preferences for a genre of a particular content item).

[0009] Such techniques may enable a user device to browse content identifiers from multiple content providers simultaneously without switching between multiple applications. In some aspects, the super interface application enables a user device to browse related content identifiers from multiple content sources simultaneously. Interacting with the super interface application may reduce the amount of user input (e.g., a single search query for content identifiers from multiple content providers instead of separate search queries for each content provider). In some aspects, the super interface may enable connections between multiple interfaces. For example, one user device may execute instructions to select a content identifier and / or browse genres in a first interface. The super interface application may update a second interface to include the content identifier based on the user device performing an interaction with the first interface. The super interface application may lead to an improved entertainment experience that is less time-consuming, less confusing, and less intrusive for the user. In addition, the super interface application may prevent waste of user interface space and system resources by generating content identifiers that are less likely to be selected by the user for display. For example, the super interface application may avoid providing non-relevant content identifiers to the user, and instead may provide content identifiers that may be relevant for current consumption by updating the super interface's interface based on user interaction with another interface.

[0010] Further, in some embodiments, the super interface application may define the super interface (e.g., based on interactions via a user device). Defining the super interface may include selecting a first content source and a second content source. For example, the first content source may be selected to be assigned to the first interface, and the second content source may be selected to be assigned to the second interface. Defining the super interface may include selecting a first display configuration for the first interface and a second display configuration for the second interface. For example, the super interface application may define spatial relationships between interfaces in the super interface. For example, the super interface application may define proportions for portions within or between interfaces in the super interface. For example, the display configurations may be templates. For example, the display configurations may be in various shapes (e.g., rectangular, elliptical, polygonal, spiral, etc.). In some embodiments, the super interface application may receive a selection of a super interface at the first device. In response, the super interface application generates a first interface in the first display configuration and a second interface for display on the first device. The super interface application may generate the first interface to comprise an identifier of a first plurality of content items available from the first content source. The super interface application may generate the second interface to comprise an identifier of a second plurality of content items available from the second content source. The first and second interfaces may be accessible to the first device simultaneously.

[0011] In some embodiments, the super interface application may provide (e.g., to one or more user devices) a defined (e.g., previously configured) super interface. In some embodiments, the super interface application may receive a request from a first device to provide the super interface to a second device. For example, the super interface application may have defined the super interface to comprise a first interface in a first display configuration and a second interface in a second display configuration based on the first user device modifying the super interface (e.g., in a certain spatial relationship to each other and in a certain proportion). The user device may transmit a request to share the super interface with the second user device. In some embodiments, the super interface application may provide the super interface to the second device in response to receiving the request. For example, the super interface application may provide the super interface to the second user device. In some embodiments, the super interface application may determine a display configuration modification for the interface on the second device. For example, the second user device may execute a process to resize an interface in the super interface and / or rotate a display of the interface. The second user device may execute instructions for altering the super interface (e.g., altering the first display configuration of the first interface). In some embodiments, the super interface application may generate a display configuration based on the alteration. In some embodiments, the super interface application may generate a third display configuration based on altering the first display configuration for the first interface of the super interface at the second device. In some embodiments, the super interface application may generate the first interface in a third display configuration for display on the second device.

[0012] Such techniques may enable a user device to define and customize any of multiple interfaces within a super interface, rather than being limited to the application interfaces tied to the content source. In some aspects, the super interface application may define and customize a super interface that is suitable for the needs of a particular user or user device. For example, the super interface application may be generating a display configuration with a display size customized for a display with limited space. In some aspects, the super interface application allows a user to define a single super interface for a user device, rather than the user expending effort in configuring multiple application interfaces of applications tied to a content source. In addition, the super interface application may share the super interface with other user devices, allowing other users to access and customize the super interface as desired. In some embodiments, the super interface application may store a super interface database (e.g., a super interface library) that contains super interfaces from users or designed for various user devices. In some aspects, such a super interface database may enable a user to select a preferred super interface. In some aspects, the super interface application may enable a user device to select a content identifier to be displayed. For example, the user device may indicate a user preference for a first interface of the super interface application that displays a content identifier from a first content source and for a second interface that displays a content identifier from a second content source. In addition, the super interface application may update the interface to include related content identifiers and / or preferred content identifiers. The super interface application, which may be user customized, may further enhance the user's entertainment experience.

[0033] Detailed Description SUMMARY Described herein are systems and methods for a super-interface application that aggregates content identifiers from different content sources within a super-interface.

[0034] As referred to in this specification, the term "content" should be understood to mean electronically consumable assets accessed using any suitable electronic platform, such as broadcast television programming, pay-per-view programs, on-demand programs (as in video-on-demand (VOD) systems), Internet content (e.g., streaming content, downloadable content, webcasts, etc.), video clips, audio, information about content, images, animations, documents, playlists, websites and web pages, articles, books, e-books, blogs, chat sessions, social media, software applications, games, virtual reality media, augmented reality media, and / or any other media or multimedia and / or any combination thereof.

[0035] FIG. 1 shows an illustrative diagram for a super interface according to some embodiments of the disclosure. FIG. 1A shows a super interface 100 comprising a first interface 102 and a second interface 104. In some embodiments, a super interface application may generate the super interface 100 for display on a user device. The super interface 100 may optionally include an identifier 106 (e.g., a title such as "Quick Picks"). The interface 102 is configured to display an identifier of a first plurality of content items available from a first content source corresponding to an identifier 108 (e.g., "Netflix"). The interface 104 is configured to display an identifier of a second plurality of content items available from a second content source 113 (e.g., "AMAZON PRIME"). The first and second plurality of content identifiers include content categories (e.g., content categories 112). In some embodiments, the first and second interfaces are accessible simultaneously. In some embodiments, the interfaces of the super interface may be displayed simultaneously. For example, the super interface application may cause a first interface and a second interface to be displayed such that the user device is capable of executing instructions to simultaneously browse content identifiers from a first content source and a second content source. For example, interfaces 102-104 may be displayed simultaneously on the user device.

[0036] In some embodiments, the super interface application may monitor the super interface for user interactions. The user device may perform an interaction with the super interface 100, such as interaction 110. For example, interaction 110 may include swiping the screen, tapping an arrow option to scroll, etc. For example, the user device may execute an instruction to switch content categories by scrolling vertically within the interface 102. The super interface 100 may be configured to provide additional content categories within the interface based on the vertical scrolling. For example, if a first content category (e.g., "Asian Action") is moved off-screen of the interface 102, the super interface application may add another content category (e.g., "Comedy") to the opposite side of the interface 102, replacing the first content category (e.g., "Asian Action"). For example, in Table 1 below, a user may scroll up the category rows of content identifiers and cause the row for "Asian Action" to shift off-screen. The super interface application may add another category row of identifiers for "Thriller," as depicted in Table 2. [Table 1] [Table 2] For example, the user device may execute instructions to scroll within the interface 102 to browse within a content category 112 (e.g., “Popular”) on the user device. In one embodiment, the super interface application may determine that switching content categories does not indicate a user preference and will not update the second interface based on the switching of content categories. The super interface detects an interaction 110 that results in browsing within the content category 112. For example, the super interface application may shift a content identifier to the right within the content category 112 based on the interaction 110. The super interface 100 may be configured to include additional content identifiers associated with the content category based on the interaction 110. For example, the content identifier (e.g., “Narcos”) may be shifted right off the screen. The super interface application may provide another content identifier (e.g., “The 100”) to the left of the screen in contrast to the shift. For example, in Table 3 below, a user may scroll right within the category row of content identifiers to shift "Narcos" off the screen. The super interface application may add an identifier for "The 100," as depicted in Table 4. [Table 3] [Table 4]

[0037] The super interface application may detect user preferences based on user interactions. For example, the super interface application may detect that the user device indicates a preference for content associated with content category 112 based on interaction 110. For example, the super interface application may determine that interaction 110 indicates a focus on content category 112 and does not indicate browsing through categories. The super interface application automatically updates second interface 104 to comprise identifiers of a third plurality of content items available from second content source 113. For example, the user may browse content category 112 (e.g., “Popular”) via the user device via horizontal scrolling as indicated by interaction 110. In one embodiment, the super interface application may determine that interface 104 does not display content categories related to content category 112. The super interface application may update interface 104 to include content categories that are the same as or related to content category 112. For example, the super interface application may update interface 104 to include content category 116 (e.g., "Popular TV") and content category 118 (e.g., "Popular Movies"). The super interface application may access a database of related content categories and search for related content categories based on content category 112. For example, the super interface application may search the database based on a keyword (e.g., "popular") within content category 112. For example, the super interface application may search the database based on a category that includes some of the same content items as content category 112.In some embodiments, the super interface application may generate a notification and / or indicator in the super interface associated with the updated interface. For example, the super interface application may generate an icon in the super interface to indicate that the content identifier in the second interface has been updated. For example, the super interface application may update the second interface 104 to include an indicator 114 of the update (e.g., a text indicator "Updated!"). The super interface application may select an identifier from the third plurality of content items based on the detected user preferences. For example, the super interface application may select content categories 116 (e.g., "Popular TV") and 118 (e.g., "Popular Movies") based on browsing content category 112 (e.g., "Popular").

[0038] FIG. 1B illustrates a super interface 150. The super interface 150 may be the super interface 100. In the super interface 150, a user device executes instructions (e.g., via an interaction 152) on the user device to select a content identifier in a first interface. For example, the interaction 152 may include a tap on the content identifier or a cursor pause on the content identifier for a period of time. The super interface application may detect the interaction 152 and determine a user preference for the selected content identifier based on the interaction 152. For example, the super interface interaction 152 may be a cursor hovering over the content identifier (e.g., "Pose"). The super interface application may determine an interaction 152 indicating a user preference for content associated with the content identifier based on the cursor hovering over the content identifier for a period of time. In some embodiments, the super interface application may determine whether the first content item is available from a second content source. In some embodiments, the super interface application may transmit a query to the second content source based on the first content item. For example, the super interface application may transmit a query comprising an identifier for the first content item to the second content source. Based on the query, the super interface application may determine content items available from the second content source that include an identifier that matches the identifier of the selected content item. For example, the super interface application may determine that a content item with a content identifier 154 selected by interaction 152 is available from the second content source and includes an identifier that matches the content identifier selected by interaction 152.

[0039] In some embodiments, the super interface application may determine that a content item in the first interface is available from a second content source. In some embodiments, the super interface application may determine that a second content item is available from the second content source, comprising substantially similar or identical content to the first content item, when updating the second interface. In some embodiments, the super interface application may determine that a second identifier of the second content item available from the second content source matches a first identifier of the first content item available from the first content source. For example, the super interface application may detect a selection of a content identifier of the first content item in the first interface. The super interface application may query the second content source based on the content identifier of the first content item. The super interface application may receive a second identifier of the second content item available from the second source and determine that the first identifier matches the second identifier. Based on a comparison of the content metadata and the identifiers, the super interface application may determine that the second content item comprises substantially similar or identical content to the first content item. For example, a user device may execute instructions to select a content identifier 152 (e.g., "Pose") from a first content source (e.g., "Netflix"). The super interface application may find a matching content identifier from a second content source (e.g., "Amazon"). The super interface application may compare the metadata and determine that the content items from the first and second content sources are identical.

[0040] In some embodiments, the super interface application may determine that a second content item from a second content source is preferred based on a comparison of attributes corresponding to the content sources and / or content items. For example, the super interface application may determine that accessing the second content item from the second content source is less restricted than accessing the first content item from the first content source. For example, the super interface application may determine that the second content item comprises fewer advertisements than the first content item. For example, the super interface application may determine that the second content item is presented in a higher quality (e.g., high definition) than the first content item. In some embodiments, the super interface application may determine that the second content item and / or the second content source is preferred based on a user profile. For example, the super interface application may access a user profile and determine that the second content item is preferred based on the user device executing instructions for browsing the second content source more than the first content source.

[0041] In some embodiments, the super interface application, in response to determining that the second content item is preferred, may select a second identifier for the second content item to be included within the identifier for the third plurality of content items to be generated for display after updating the second interface. For example, a content identifier for the second content item (e.g., “Pose”) may be selected within the first interface of the super interface 150. The super interface application may display a content category (e.g., “Popular TV”) associated with the second content item as depicted in FIG. 1B and may arrange the content identifiers to center the identifier for the second content item (e.g., “Pose”) within the row for the content category (e.g., “Popular TV”). For example, the super interface application may include the content identifier 154 within the second interface. In some embodiments, the super interface application may generate and / or highlight an indicator within the super interface for the second content identifier in the second interface. For example, the super interface application may generate a notification 156 (e.g., with the text "Recommended Here") with an arrow pointing to the content identifier 154 in the second interface. For example, the notification 156 may indicate a reason for selecting the second content identifier. Some non-limiting examples of reasons include lower access costs, availability of high definition (HD) content, fewer commercials, etc. In some embodiments, the super interface application generates a notification and / or indicator that includes an icon associated with the second content item contained within the second interface. For example, the notification 156 may also include an iconic face of a known actress or another iconic image associated with the content identifier 154.

[0042] In some embodiments, the super interface application may continuously monitor user interactions within the super interface, determine user preferences, and dynamically update one or more interfaces within the super interface based on the user preferences. For example, the super interface application may update the first interface based on user interactions within the second interface when the user device performs user interactions within the second interface. In some embodiments, the super interface application may provide an option to delay updating of the interfaces. For example, after the super interface application includes a content identifier 154 within the second interface, the user device may execute instructions to compare the content identifier 152 within the first interface with the content identifier 154 within the second interface. The super interface application may provide an option within the super interface to delay updating of the first interface and the second interface. In some embodiments, the super interface application may generate a third interface for display, comprising information about the content item based on the content identifier in the first interface and information about the content item in the second interface. A content item associated with a content identifier in the first interface may be related to a content item associated with a content identifier in the second interface. For example, the super interface application may display a third interface that lists attributes associated with content sources and / or content items.

[0043] A super-interface comprising two interfaces is depicted in FIG. 1 for illustrative purposes. It should be noted that the super-interface may comprise any number of interfaces. The number of interfaces may depend on user preferences. In addition, the user device is not limited to interacting with the first interface, but may also perform interacting with the second interface. The super-interface application may detect user preferences based on the user interaction with the second interface. The super-interface application may update the first interface as described above and below.

[0044] In some embodiments, the super interface application may retrieve content identifiers from the content sources. The super interface application may search, select, and / or categorize the content identifiers for display within any of the super interfaces. For example, the super interface application may fetch the content identifiers via an application programming interface (API) provided by the content source. For example, the super interface application may use the content source API to search for available content from the content source based on detected user preferences.

[0045] FIG. 2 shows an illustrative diagram of a super interface according to some embodiments of the disclosure. Super interface 200 comprises a first interface 202 and a second interface 204. In some embodiments, a super interface application generates a super interface with simultaneous access for multiple interfaces. For example, interfaces 202 and 204 may be simultaneously accessible to a user device. In some embodiments, an interface of the super interface may be accessed via selecting a tab (e.g., with a single click or tap). Super interface 200 includes selectable tabs 206 and 208. Interface 202 is configured to display an identifier of a first plurality of content items available from a first content source (e.g., "Netflix") corresponding to tab 206. Interface 204 is configured to display an identifier of a second plurality of content items available from a second content source (e.g., "Netflix") corresponding to tab 208. A user device may perform an interaction with interface 202 to browse content available from the first content source. In the super interface 200, the user device may perform an interaction 212 to scroll through content categories 210 (e.g., "Popular") within the interface 202. The super interface application automatically updates the interface 204 based on the interaction 212. Techniques such as those described in connection with FIGS. 1A-1B may be applied by the super interface application when updating an interface accessed by a tab. For example, the super interface application may update the interface 204 inside the tab 208. In some embodiments, the super interface application may generate an indicator within the super interface when updating a second interface. For example, in super interface 200, the super interface application generates icon 214 in tab 208 to indicate that interface 204 has been updated.

[0046] The super interface application may cause the display of an interface comprising identifiers of a plurality of content items via selectable tabs. For example, the user device may perform an interaction 216 and select tab 208 to browse content identifiers in interface 204 on the user device. In response to selecting tab 208, the super interface application causes interface 216 to be displayed on the user device, including identifiers of a third plurality of content items available from a second content source. The super interface application selects the third plurality of content items based on the interaction 212. For example, the super interface application may have selected a content identifier associated with content category 218 because the user browsed content category 210.

[0047] A super-interface comprising two interfaces accessible via tabs is depicted in FIG. 2 for illustrative purposes. Note that a super-interface may comprise any number of interfaces accessible via tabs. The number of interfaces may depend on user preferences or subscriptions that the user has.

[0048] FIG. 3 shows a schematic diagram of an illustrative system for defining a super interface, according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, a super interface application may enable definition of a super interface (e.g., for access via a user device). In the system 300, the super interface application defines a super interface 301 based on various user interactions (e.g., interactions 307, 309, 312, and 316) on a first user device. The super interface 301 may include an identifier 302 (e.g., a "super interface"). The super interface 301 comprises a first interface template area 303 in a first display configuration 304 and a second interface template area 305 in a second display configuration 306. The super interface application selects a content source 308 when defining the super interface 301 (e.g., based on the interaction 307). For example, a user may drag a content source 308 (e.g., "Netflix") into the interface template area 303, and the super interface application configures the interface template area 303 to display a content identifier from the content source 308. The content source 308 is assigned to the interface template area 303. The super interface application selects a content source 310 (e.g., based on the interaction 309) when defining the super interface 301. The content source 310 is assigned to the interface template area 305. The super interface application selects a display configuration 304 for the interface template area 303. For example, the super interface application may have configured the interface 102 based on the display configuration 304.In some embodiments, the super interface application may connect to selected interfaces in the super interface via updates based on detected user preferences, as described above and below. In some embodiments, the super interface application receives instructions (e.g., from a user device) to select a first interface and a second interface to connect via updates, as described above and below. For example, the super interface application may receive a selection from a user device selecting interface template areas in the super interface 300 that should be linked and interface template areas that should not be linked.

[0049] In some embodiments, the super interface application may provide various options for modifying the display configuration. For example, the super interface application may select a display configuration that corresponds to the simultaneous display of interfaces as depicted in FIG. 1. For example, the super interface application may select a display configuration that corresponds to interfaces that are accessible via selectable tabs as depicted in FIG. 2. In some embodiments, the super interface application may modify a display size for a first display configuration (e.g., at a first device). For example, the user device may execute instructions to modify various attributes of the display configuration 304 for the interface template area 303. For example, a user may pinch a touch-sensitive screen on the user device, and in response, the super interface application may cause a change to the display size for the display configuration. For example, the super interface application may change a display ratio or other relative setting between the interface template area 303 and the interface template area 305. In the super interface 301, the super interface application detects an interaction 312. The interaction 312 may be a gesture that causes the user device to modify the display size. For example, the interaction 312 may include a pinch, a two-finger tap, holding and dragging the cursor, etc. The super interface application alters the display configuration based on the interaction 312, for example, by increasing the display size of the interface template area 303 (depicted by arrow 314). In some embodiments, the super interface application may alter the display ratio for the first display configuration (e.g., on the first device). For example, in the super interface 301, the super interface application may provide options 318 for a display configuration 304 at the first user device. The first user device may execute instructions to select a display ratio 320. The super interface application may alter the display configuration 304 of the interface template area 303 based on the display ratio 320 (e.g., as depicted by arrow 314). Altering the display ratio may include setting a relative display size in the first display configuration. For example, the display ratio 320 may refer to a display size relative to a display size of the super interface 301. For example, the display ratio 320 may refer to a display size relative to a display size of the display configuration 306. The super interface application may set the relative display size based on selecting an option at the first user device. In some embodiments, the super interface application may alter a display orientation for the first display configuration (e.g., at the first device). In the super interface 301, the user device may perform an interaction 316 to rotate the interface template area 303. The super interface application may alter the display orientation of the display configuration 304 based on the interaction 316. Note that such techniques for altering the display configuration may be applied to any number of display configurations for any number of interfaces (e.g., the display configuration 306 for the interface template area 305).

[0050] FIG. 4 shows an illustrative diagram of a super interface selected on a first user device according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, a super interface application selects a super interface on the first device. For example, the user device may execute instructions on the user device to select an identifier of the super interface. The super interface application may select the super interface based on the identifier. FIG. 4 shows a device 400 displaying a super interface comprising two interfaces. An identifier 402 for a super interface (e.g., super interface 301) may be one selected on the device 400. The super interface application receives a selection 404 of the identifier 402 (e.g., from the first user device). In response to the selection 404, the super interface application generates a first interface 406 and a second interface 408 for display on the device 400. On the device 400, the interfaces 406 and 408 are displayed simultaneously. The interface 406 is configured to comprise an identifier of a first plurality of content items available from a first content source (e.g., content source 308). Interface 408 is configured to comprise an identifier of a second plurality of content items available from a second content source (e.g., content source 310). Interfaces 406 and 408 are accessible simultaneously on device 400. Interface 406 is configured to be displayed in a first display configuration (e.g., display configuration 304). Interface 408 is configured to be displayed in a second display configuration (e.g., display configuration 306). In device 400, the display of interfaces 406 and 408 includes any adaptation of the first and second display configurations (e.g., display configurations 304 and 306).

[0051] In some embodiments, the super interface application may select a display configuration based on the display template. In some embodiments, the super interface application may select a first display configuration template of the plurality of display configuration templates as the first display configuration. The super interface application may define a super interface based on the first display configuration template. For example, the super interface application may provide the plurality of display configuration templates to the user device. The super interface application may receive a selection of a display configuration template. For example, the super interface application may provide various blank shapes (e.g., rectangle, oval, etc.) as part of the display configuration template for the interface template area or a portion within the interface template area. The super interface application may select a display configuration (e.g., display configuration 304) based on the display configuration template. The super interface application may provide an interface of the super interface in a default display configuration based on the display configuration template. The user device may execute instructions to customize the super interface based on modifying the display configuration.

[0052] Such techniques may enable customization of the super-interface based on user preferences. In some aspects, the super-interface application may enable a user device to execute instructions that define and customize any of a number of interfaces within the super-interface. In some aspects, the super-interface application may enable a user device to execute instructions that define a super-interface that is customized for, for example, the hardware limitations of the user device.

[0053] FIG. 5 shows an illustrative diagram of a super interface selected on a user device according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, an interface in the super interface may be accessible via a selectable tab. For example, the user device may execute instructions to select a tab in the super interface, and the super interface application may cause an interface corresponding to the selected tab to be displayed. For example, the user device may configure a selectable tab for displaying an interface of the super interface. FIG. 5 shows a device 500 displaying a super interface comprising two interfaces accessible via a selectable tab. An identifier 502 for the super interface may be one selected on the device 500. The super interface application receives a selection 504 of the identifier 502. In response to the selection 504, the super interface application generates a first interface 510 comprising an identifier of content available from a first content source, a tab 506, and a tab 508 for display on the device 500. On the device 500, the interface 510 is accessible via selecting the tab 506, and a second interface (not shown) is accessible via selecting the tab 507. The interface 510 is configured to comprise an identifier of a first plurality of content items available from a first content source (e.g., as identified in tab 506). The second interface is configured to comprise an identifier of a second plurality of content items available from a second content source (e.g., as identified in tab 507). The interface 510 is configured to be displayed in a first display configuration. The second interface is configured to be displayed in a second display configuration. A user selects the tab 506 via interaction 508 on the device 500.The super interface application causes an interface 510 to be displayed that includes an identifier of content available from a first content source, the interface 510 being displayed in a first display configuration.

[0054] FIG. 6 shows a schematic diagram of an illustrative system for providing a super interface to a second user device and modifying the super interface on the second user device according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, a super interface application may receive a request from a first device to provide a super interface to a second device. In response, the super interface application may provide the super interface to the second device. FIG. 6 shows a system 600 including a device 601 and a device 603. The device 601 may include a device identifier 602 (e.g., "Device A"). The device 603 may include a device identifier 604 (e.g., "Device B"). At the device 601, a user interacts with the device 601 at the device 601 to provide the super interface to the device 603. The super interface corresponds to a super interface identifier 606 (hereinafter, super interface 606). For example, the device 601 may perform an interaction with an option 608 to share the super interface 606 with the device 603. In response, the super interface application causes device 603 to provide super interface 606. Device 603 may execute instructions to configure the interface in a different display configuration. Device 603 executes instructions to modify a first interface of super interface 606. For example, device 603 performs interaction 612, which may rotate interface 614. Based on the modification at device 603, the super interface application generates display configuration 610. The super interface generates interface 618 in display configuration 616 at device 603 for display.

[0055] In some embodiments, the super interface application may modify the super interface based on modifications at the second user device. The second user device may execute instructions to add interfaces to the super interface or remove interfaces from the super interface. The second user device may execute instructions to assign different content sources to interfaces in the super interface. In some embodiments, the super interface application may modify some interfaces in the super interface based on modifications at the second device. For example, the super interface application may add interfaces based on modifications at the second device. For example, the super interface application may remove interfaces based on modifications at the second device. For example, the super interface application may generate a third interface in the super interface based on modifications at the second device. In some embodiments, the super interface application may select a third content source to be assigned to the first interface based on modifications at the second device. For example, the super interface application may select a third content source (e.g., "HULU") and assign the third content source to the first interface. For example, if the second device has a different aspect ratio than the first device, the super interface application may adjust the display proportions of the super interface when displaying the super interface on the second device based on the aspect ratio on the second device.

[0056] FIG. 7 shows an illustrative diagram of a super interface displayed on a second user device according to some embodiments of the disclosure. FIG. 7 shows a second user device 700 including a device identifier 702. A super interface application may cause the super interface to be displayed on the device 700. The super interface comprises an interface 704 and an interface 706. The super interface application generates the interfaces 704 and 706 to display the content items on the device 700. The interface 704 is configured to comprise an identifier of a content item available from a first content source (e.g., "NETFLIX"). The interface 706 is configured to comprise an identifier of a content item available from a second content source (e.g., "AMAZON PRIME"). The super interface application generates the interface 704 in a modified display configuration (e.g., display configuration 610) for display.

[0057] FIG. 8 shows a diagram of an illustrative system for defining a super interface according to some embodiments of the disclosure. The super interface application may define the super interface based on various user interactions. In some embodiments, the super interface application may define a portion of an interface in the super interface based on the user interactions. FIG. 8 shows a system 800 including a super interface 801. The super interface 801 includes a first section 803 of a first interface and a second section 818. The section 803 includes a section identifier 802. The section 818 includes a section identifier 817. The user device may perform interactions 804 and 806 and trace a display portion at the user device. For example, the user device may sketch a display portion for displaying content by drawing a line from interaction 804 to interaction 806. The super interface application may define a display portion based on user interactions 804 and 806 and reserve a display portion for displaying content based on the interactions. The super interface application alters the display size of section 803 based on user interaction (as depicted by arrow 808). In some embodiments, the super interface application may alter the display ratio, including presenting an option for altering the display ratio on the device. Altering the display ratio may include setting a relative display size. In system 800, the super interface application presents option 810. The user device executes instructions to select option 812, which indicates section 803. The user device executes instructions to select option 814, which indicates section 818.The user device executes the instructions to select option 816, which indicates a relative display size between section 803 and section 818 (e.g., a 2:1 display ratio). The super interface application may adjust the individual display sizes of section 803 and section 818 based on option 816. For example, the super interface application may expand section 803 to twice the display size 818 based on a 2:1 display ratio.

[0058] FIG. 9 shows an illustrative diagram of a super interface in a circular display configuration according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, the super interface application may generate a super interface in a circular display configuration for display. For example, the display configuration template may include a circular display configuration. The super interface application may configure the circular display configuration (e.g., based on instructions from a user device). For example, a user may drag a content source identifier (e.g., a title such as "Netflix") via a user device into the inner circle of the circular display configuration (e.g., as depicted by interaction 307). The circular display configuration may include interfaces of the super interface in a ring configuration. The circular display configuration may include a center interface. The ring interface and the center interface may be concentric. In some embodiments, the super interface application may generate an identifier for a selected content item in the center interface for display. FIG. 9 shows a super interface 900 in one such configuration. The super interface 900 includes a first ring interface 901, a second ring interface 903, and a center interface 905. Interfaces 901 and 903 are concentric rings around a central interface 905. Interface 901 is configured to display identifiers of content available from a first content source 902. In interface 901, the content identifiers are associated with content categories 906, 908, and 910. Interface 903 is configured to display identifiers of content available from a second content source 904. Central interface 905 is configured to display identifiers of selected content items. The user device may execute instructions to browse content identifiers within the ring interface (e.g., by executing instructions to scroll the content identifiers around the ring). For example, the user may spin the interface 901 and switch content categories. The super interface application may remove a content category (e.g., "Asian Action") as the content category reaches a point on the circumference of the interface 901 (e.g., the 12 o'clock position). The super interface application may add another content category that is shifted into the interface 901 starting from that point. In some embodiments, the super interface application may move content identifiers into connected rings in the ring interface. In some embodiments, the super interface application may be dedicated to a section (e.g., a content category) within the ring interface. For example, the user device may execute instructions to spin the interface 901 and switch content categories. For example, the user device may execute instructions to shift "Big Bang Theory" out of the section corresponding to "Netflix Top Titles". The super interface application may seamlessly add another content identifier (e.g., "The 100") that is associated with "Netflix Top Titles". The user device may perform an interaction 912 in which a content identifier is selected in interface 901. The super interface application detects the interaction 912 and generates a content identifier 914 for display in central interface 905. Based on the interaction 912, the super interface application may select an identifier for a content item, available from a content source 904, for display in interface 903.For example, the super interface application may detect a user preference for a content category 910 (e.g., "Top Netflix Titles") based on the interactions 912. The super interface application may select identifiers of available content items from content sources 904 based on the content category 910 (e.g., identifiers of content items from categories such as "Top PRIME TV", "Top PRIME Movies", etc.). In the super interface 900, the super interface application generates identifiers of content items from content sources 904 in a ring configuration around the central interface 905 for display.

[0059] FIG. 10 shows an illustrative diagram of a super interface in a circular display configuration according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, the super interface application generates a super interface in a modifiable circular display configuration for display. The super interface application may dynamically modify the circular display configuration based on detected user preferences (e.g., detected from user interactions). For example, the super interface application may detect a user interaction in the super interface indicating an interest in browsing content associated with "popularity". The super interface application may define a section of the circular display configuration that combines sectors of the interface in the super interface. The super interface application may configure a section for scrolling identifiers of content items available from multiple content sources, the content items being associated with "popularity". For example, the super interface application may reorder the content identifiers in the sectors of the interface such that the content identifiers are displayed in separate sectors for each content source. FIG. 10 shows a super interface 1000 in a modifiable circular display configuration. The super interface 1000 comprises a first ring interface 1001 and a center interface 1003. Super interface 1000 may be of super interface 900 prior to modification by a super interface application. Ring interface 1001 is configured to display identifiers of content items available from a first content source 1002. Central interface 1003 is configured to display identifiers of content items available from a second content source 1004. For example, central interface 1003 may be displaying content items from content source 904, as in ring interface 903.For example, a user may spin interface 1001 to cycle through content categories. The super interface application may add another category as the content category is shifted into a point on the circumference of interface 1001.

[0060] In some embodiments, the super interface application may receive user interactions from a user device to browse content. The user device may perform interactions with the super interface 1000. For example, the user device may perform interactions 1006 and 1008 to browse the super interface 1000. For example, interactions 1006 and 1008 may indicate a swipe of a user's finger from left to right on a touch-sensitive screen on the user device. For example, interactions 1006 and 1008 may indicate a sequence of taps, the order of the sequence indicating scrolling from left to right. For example, interactions 1006 and 1008 may indicate instructions for the user device to expand a particular section in the super interface. The super interface application detects user preferences based on the user interactions 1006 and 1008. The super interface application updates the central interface 1003 to include identifiers of content items available from the content source 1004, and the content items may be selected based on the detected user preferences. For example, the super interface application may detect a user preference for a content category 1014 (e.g., "popular") based on the close proximity of interactions 1006 and 1008 to a portion 1016 of interface 1001 associated with the content category 1014. The central interface 1003 may comprise content items from content sources 1004 associated with various content categories. For example, the central interface 1003 may comprise content items associated with a genre (e.g., "action").

[0061] In some embodiments, the super interface application may modify the super interface at the user device to enable simultaneous scrolling of content from the first content source and the second content source. In the super interface 1000, based on the interactions 1006 and 1008, the super interface application may cause a modification of the super interface 1000 at the user device to enable simultaneous scrolling of content available from the content source 1002 and the content source 1004. For example, the super interface application may define a section 1012 based on the interactions 1006 and 1008. The section 1012 combines a portion 1016 of the interface 1001 and a second portion 1018 of the interface 1003, which are associated with a content category 1014. The super interface application may reorder the content items in the section 1012 to enable simultaneous scrolling of the content. For example, the interactions 1006 and 1008 may indicate a swipe in a horizontal direction. Based on the interactions 1006 and 1008, the super interface determines that the content items should be scrolled simultaneously between the interfaces from the center of the super interface 1000 along the horizontal direction (as depicted by arrow 1010). For example, the user may scroll a content identifier to the right in the super interface 1000. The identifiers in the portions 1016 and 1018 may be shifted accordingly. When an identifier (e.g., "Jack Ryan") is moved off screen in a portion (e.g., portion 1018), the super interface application may add another content identifier (e.g., "The 100") into that portion. The super interface application may simultaneously add content identifiers into the portions 1016 and 1018 as the content identifiers are moved off screen in the super interface 1000.The super interface application causes the content items in the central interface 1003 to be reordered into a section 1012 at the user device. By reordering, the section 1012 is configured to comprise selected content items based on detected user preferences. For example, the section 1012 may be configured to comprise content items associated with a content category related to the content category 1014 (e.g., "popular"). Although not shown, portions of the interface 1003 outside the section 1012 may comprise other content items available from the content source 1004 (e.g., content items associated with "actions"). In this manner, the super interface application may cause the super interface 1000 to be displayed at the user device in a dynamically modified display configuration. The user device may then execute instructions to simultaneously scroll through related content from multiple content sources within the super interface 1000. For example, portion 1016 of interface 1001 may currently display content identifiers "The Good Place" and "The Magicians" from content source 1002 under content category 1014 (e.g., "Popular"), and portion 1018 of interface 1003 may currently display content identifiers "Jack Ryan" and "Safety Nome" from content source 1002 that are associated with content category 1014. In this example, the user may scroll (e.g., by moving a finger from left to right on a touch-sensitive screen) as depicted in interactions 1006 and 1008. The super interface application may shift the content identifiers in both portions 1016 and 1018 in section 1012 toward the right in super interface 1000 (e.g., "The Good Place", "The Magicians", "Jack Ryan", "Safety Nome").The super interface application may then add new content identifiers within each of portions 1016 and 1018 that are associated with "popularity" and are available from individual content sources.

[0062] FIG. 11 is a block diagram of an illustrative system according to some embodiments of the disclosure. Various user equipment may access content, information, the super interface application (and associated prompts and / or associated display screens, as described in various embodiments of the disclosure). FIG. 11 shows an illustrative system 1100 for accessing the super interface application from various user devices. The system 1100 includes a computing device 1102 (e.g., a remote server) connected to various user equipment 1118 (e.g., user devices) via a network 1112. A block diagram illustrating exemplary components of the user equipment 1118 is shown for the user equipment 1119. In some embodiments, the computing device 1102 hosts the super interface application. In other embodiments, the computing device 1102 acts as a proxy for the super interface application. The user equipment 1119 may be connected to the network 1112 via a wired or wireless connection and may receive content and data via an input / output (hereinafter, "I / O") path 1120. For example, I / O path 1120 may include or be I / O circuitry. Computing device 1102 may be connected to network 1112 via a wired or wireless connection and may receive content and data via I / O path 1104. I / O path 1104 and / or I / O path 1120 may be or include I / O circuitry and provide content (e.g., broadcast programming, on-demand programming, Internet content, and other video, audio, or information) and data and control circuitry 1106 and / or control circuitry 1122, which include processing circuitry 1108, storage 1110, processing circuitry 1124, and storage 1126, respectively. Control circuitry 1106 may be used to send and receive commands, requests, and other suitable data using I / O path 1104.I / O paths 1104 may connect control circuitry 1106 (specifically, processing circuitry 1108) to one or more communications paths (described below). Similarly, control circuitry 1122 may be used to send and receive commands, requests, and other suitable data using I / O paths 1120. I / O functions may be provided by one or more of these communications paths, but are shown in FIG. 11 as a single path to avoid overcomplicating the drawing.

[0063] The control circuitry 1106 and the control circuitry 1122 may be based on any suitable processing circuitry 1108 (e.g., processing circuitry based on one or more microprocessors, microcontrollers, digital signal processors, programmable logic devices, etc.). In some embodiments, the control circuitry 1106 executes instructions for a super interface application stored in memory (i.e., storage 1110). In client-server based embodiments, the control circuitry 1106 may include communications circuitry suitable for communicating with an application server or other network or server. With or without user input, the super interface application may coordinate communications between the control circuitry 1106 and the control circuitry 1122 via the communications circuitry to execute instructions by the super interface application. The communications circuitry may include a modem or other circuitry for connecting to a wired or wireless local or remote communications network. Such communications may involve the Internet or any other suitable communications network or path (described in more detail below). Additionally, communications circuitry may include circuitry that enables peer-to-peer communication of user equipment devices (e.g., Wifi-direct, Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy, short range communications, service provider proprietary networks, wired connections, etc.) or communication of user equipment devices at locations remote from one another.

[0064] The user equipment 1118 of FIG. 11 may include user television equipment, user computer equipment, one or more wireless user communication devices, one or more assistant devices, Internet of Things (IOT) devices, or any other type of user equipment suitable for interfacing with the super interface application. Such devices may be collectively referred to as user equipment or user equipment devices. The user equipment on which the application is at least partially implemented may function as a stand-alone device or may be part of a network of devices (e.g., each device may include an individual module of the super interface application). Various network configurations of devices may be implemented and are discussed in further detail below.

[0065] User equipment 1118 may be coupled to network 1112 via various communication paths. Network 1112 may comprise one or more networks including the Internet, a cellular network, a mobile device (e.g., iPhone®) network, a cable network, a public switched telephone network, or other types of communication networks or combinations of communication networks. The various communication paths may include, separately or together, one or more communication paths, such as satellite paths, fiber optic based paths, cable paths, paths supporting Internet communications (e.g., IPTV), free space connections (e.g., for broadcast or other wireless signals), or any other suitable wired or wireless communication paths or combinations of such paths. Communications with user equipment may be provided by one or more of these communication paths, but are shown in FIG. 11 as a single path to avoid overcomplicating the drawing.

[0066] Although communication paths are not depicted between user equipment 1118, user equipment may communicate with each other via communication paths such as those described above in connection with network 1112 directly, and other short-range point-to-point communication paths, wireless paths (e.g., Bluetooth, infrared, IEEE 902-11x, etc.), or other short-range communications via wired or wireless paths. BLUETOOTH is a certification mark owned by Bluetooth SIG, INC. User equipment devices may also communicate with each other directly, via network 1112, or through indirect paths.

[0067] The system 1100 includes a content source 1114 and a guide data source 1116 coupled to the network 1112 via various communication paths. The various communication paths may include any of the communication paths described above. Communications with the content source 1114 and the guide data source 1116 may be exchanged via one or more communication paths, but are shown in FIG. 11 as a single path to avoid overcomplicating the drawing. In addition, there may be more than one content source 1114 and guide data source 1116, respectively, but only one is shown in FIG. 11, respectively, to avoid overcomplicating the drawing. Each of these different types of sources is discussed below. If desired, the content source 1114 and the guide data source 1116 may be integrated into one source device. Although communication between sources 1114 and 1116 and user equipment 1118 is shown as being through network 1112, in some embodiments, sources 1114 and 1116 may communicate directly with user equipment 1118 via communications paths (not shown) such as those described above.

[0068] Memory (e.g., random access memory, read-only memory, or any other suitable memory), a hard drive, an optical drive, or any other suitable fixed or removable storage device may be provided as storage 1110 and / or storage 1126. Storage 1110 and / or storage 1126 may include one or more of the above types of storage devices. Storage 1110 and / or storage 1126 may store instructions that, when executed by control circuitry 1106 and / or control circuitry 1122, cause the super interface application to perform the steps described above and below. Storage 1110 and / or storage 1126 may be used to store various types of content described herein and super interface application data, including program information, guide application and / or super interface application settings, user preferences or profile information, or other data used in operating the guide application and / or super interface application. For example, storage 1110 and / or storage 1126 may store instructions that, when executed by the control circuitry, result in the implementation of the super interface application, as described above and below. Non-volatile memory may also be used (e.g., to launch boot-up routines and other instructions). Although not shown in FIG. 11, control circuitry 1106 and control circuitry 1122 may be coupled to additional hardware or software to execute instructions by the super interface application. For example, control circuitry 1106 may include hardware and firmware associated with the hardware to accelerate the processing and detection of user inputs, including user interactions with the super interface.

[0069] The user device may be configured to perform interactions with the user equipment 1119 utilizing a user input interface 1128 (e.g., causing the control circuitry 1122 to perform various functions). The user input interface 1128 may be any suitable user interface, such as a remote control, a mouse, a trackball, a keypad, a keyboard, a touch screen, a touch pad, a stylus input, a joystick, a microphone, a voice recognition interface, or other user input interface. The display 1130 may be provided as a stand-alone device, integrated with the user equipment 1119, or integrated with other elements of the system 1100. The display 1130 may be one or more of a monitor, a television, a liquid crystal display (LCD) for a mobile device, or any other suitable device for displaying content. The speaker 1132 may be provided as a stand-alone device, integrated with the user equipment 1119, or integrated with other elements of the system 1100. Audio content (e.g., generated by a super interface application) may be played through the speaker 1132. In some embodiments, the audio may be delivered to a receiver (not shown), which processes and outputs the audio via speaker 1132. It should be understood that user input interface 1128 may alternatively or additionally be configured to process any type of input (e.g., text-based input, touch input, biometric input, or any combination thereof). Control circuitry 1106 and control circuitry 1122 may be configured to detect and identify any user input from user input interface 1128.

[0070] The super interface application may be implemented using any suitable architecture. For example, it may be a stand-alone application implemented entirely on the computing device 1102. In such an approach, the application's instructions are stored locally (e.g., in storage 1110) and data for use by the super interface application is downloaded on a periodic basis (e.g., using a network connection or another suitable approach). In some embodiments, the super interface application is a client-server based application. Data for use by a thick or thin client implemented on the computing device 1102 may be retrieved on demand by issuing a request to a server or user equipment (e.g., user equipment 1118) remote from the computing device 1102. In one example of a client-server based application, the control circuitry 1106 launches a web browser that interprets web pages provided by a remote server.

[0071] In some embodiments, the super interface application may include multiple modules implemented on multiple devices (e.g., computing device 1102 and user device 1118) to perform the features and functionality of the super interface application. The super interface application may be configured such that features of the super interface application that require processing power beyond that of the computing device 1102 are implemented on a server associated with the super interface application, while other capabilities of the super interface application are implemented on the computing device 1102. For example, the super interface application may comprise a first module (e.g., coupled to control circuitry 1122) implemented on the user device 1118 that detects when a user device performs an interaction with the interface and may perform preliminary processing on the user input. The super interface application may comprise a second module (e.g., coupled to control circuitry 1106) implemented on a second device (e.g., computing device 1102) to perform additional processing on the user input.

[0072] Although the exemplary system 1100 is depicted as having two devices to implement the super interface application, any number of modules or devices may be used. The exemplary super interface application may comprise multiple modules for detecting and processing input from a user device (e.g., voice, text, touch, biometric, etc., or any combination thereof). Some examples of modules include, without limitation, a first module for detecting user input, a second module for detecting user interaction based on the user input, a third module for detecting user preferences based on the user interaction, and a fourth module for processing additional user input. In some embodiments, the exemplary super interface application may be implemented across multiple devices. Although the super interface application is discussed in connection with control circuitry 1106 running on a computing device (e.g., computing equipment 1102), it should be understood that any of the features and functionality of the super interface application may be split across multiple modules running on any control circuitry, such as control circuitry 1106 or control circuitry 1122.

[0073] User television equipment may include set-top boxes, integrated receiver decoders (IRDs) for handling satellite television, television sets, digital storage devices, DVD recorders, local media servers, or other user television equipment. One or more of these devices may be integrated into a single device, as desired. User computer equipment may include PCs, laptops, tablets, personal computer televisions (PC / TVs), PC media servers, PC media centers, or other user computer equipment. Wireless user communication devices may include mobile phones, portable video players, portable music players, portable gaming machines, wireless remote controls, or other wireless devices. Assistant devices may include smart speakers, standalone voice assistants, smart home hubs, and the like. IOT devices may include any of a number of devices (e.g., lighting controllers, washing machines, security cameras, and the like) in a residence, office, or other location having such devices.

[0074] It should be noted that the boundaries may be blurred when attempting to classify a device as one of the above devices. Indeed, user television equipment, user computer equipment, wireless user communication devices, assistant devices, and IOT devices may each utilize at least some of the system features described above, and as a result, include some or all of the features of the super interface application described herein. For example, user television equipment may implement a super interface application that is activated in response to detection of an input comprising a user interaction. The super interface application may have the same layout on various different types of user equipment, or may be tailored to the display capabilities of the user equipment. For example, on a user computer equipment, the super interface application may provide a super interface within a visual layout that may be adapted to the display of the user computer equipment. In another embodiment, the super interface may be scaled down for a wireless user communication device. In another embodiment, the super interface application may not provide a graphical user interface (GUI), but may provide a super interface persistently and detect user input, such as user interaction with the user input interface 1128. Various network-connected devices or IOT devices may be connected via a localized network (e.g., a local area network) and may be capable of being controlled using the IOT application and using the super interface application.

[0075] In system 1100, there may be more than one of each type of user equipment and / or more types of user equipment, but some examples are shown in Figure 11 to avoid overcomplicating the drawing. In addition, each user may utilize more than one type of user equipment (e.g., a user may have a television set and a computer) and also more than one type of user equipment (e.g., a user may have an assistant device, a mobile phone, and / or multiple IOT devices).

[0076] A user may also set various settings and maintain consistent settings across various devices (e.g., in-home and remote devices). For example, preferences (e.g., display brightness) on a user's personal computer may be set on its super interface application at the user's office, and such preferences may also appear on the super interface applications in the user's in-home devices (e.g., user television equipment and user computer equipment) and the user's mobile devices, as desired. Thus, changes made on one user equipment device can change the experience on another user equipment device, whether they are the same or different types of user equipment devices. Additionally, changes made may be based on settings entered by the user and on user activity monitored by the super interface application.

[0077] The content source 1114 may store or index a number of data used to respond to user prompts received by the super interface application. In some embodiments, the content source 1114 may index content locations located on servers located remotely or locally to the content source 1114. In response to receiving a query (e.g., in the form of voice, text, touch, biometric, or any combination thereof), the super interface application may access an index stored on the content source 1114 and may identify a server (e.g., a database stored on a server) that comprises information to respond to the user's query. For example, the super interface application may receive a voice query requesting content for display. In response to receiving the query, the super interface application may search the content source 1114 for content services with content that matches the query, may access a content service for content, or may retrieve content that matches the query.

[0078] The guide data source 1116 may provide data used during operation or functionality of the super interface application. For example, the guide data source 1116 may store user profile information, information about user preferences, browsing activity and user interaction information associated with a user, etc. In some embodiments, updates for the super interface application may be downloaded via the guide data source 1116.

[0079] The super interface application may be a stand-alone application implemented, for example, on the user equipment. In other embodiments, the super interface application may be a client-server application where only the client resides on the user equipment. For example, the super interface application may be implemented partially on the control circuitry 1122 as a client application and partially on a remote server (e.g., computing device 1102) as a server application. The guide application displays and / or the super interface application displays may be generated by the guide data source 1116, the content source 1114, and / or the computing device 1102 and transmitted to the user equipment. The guide data source 1116, the content source 1114, and the computing device 1102 may transmit data for storage on the user equipment, which then generates the super interface application displays based on instructions processed by the control circuitry.

[0080] System 1100 is intended to illustrate several approaches or configurations by which user equipment devices and sources and servers may communicate with each other. The present invention may be applied in any one or subset of these approaches, or in systems employing other approaches for generating and providing super interface applications.

[0081] FIG. 12 is a flow diagram of a process 1200 for generating a super interface according to some embodiments of the disclosure. For example, a super interface application may use control circuitry 1106 to perform process 1200 to generate a super interface. Process 1200 begins at 1202. At 1202, the control circuitry generates a super interface comprising a first and a second interface for display. At 1204, the control circuitry generates a first interface comprising an identifier corresponding to a first plurality of content items available from a first content source. At 1206, the control circuitry generates a second interface comprising an identifier corresponding to a second plurality of content items available from a second content source. The control circuitry may perform 1204 and 1206 separately or simultaneously. At 1208, the control circuitry monitors (e.g., at a user device) for user interaction with the super interface. At 1210, the control circuitry determines whether a user interaction with the first interface is detected. In response to determining that user interaction with the first interface has not been detected, the control circuitry may proceed to 1208. In response to determining that user interaction with the first interface has been detected, the control circuitry may proceed to 1216. In some embodiments, the super-interface application may use the control circuitry to continuously monitor user interaction with the super-interface. Note that the control circuitry may detect user interaction with any interface of the super-interface. Process 1200 may be adjusted accordingly.

[0082] At 1216, the control circuitry detects user preferences based on user interactions with the first interface. For example, referring to FIG. 1A, the super interface application may detect user preferences for content category 112 based on the interactions 110. At 1218, the control circuitry automatically updates the second interface to include identifiers of a third plurality of content items available from a second content source, the third plurality of content items being selected based on the user preferences detected from the user interactions with the first interface. For example, referring to FIG. 1A, the super interface application may determine the interactions 110 indicating an interest in content associated with the content category (e.g., “Popular”). The super interface application may select identifiers of content items available from a second content source (e.g., “AMAZON PRIME”), the content items being associated with the content category of interest (e.g., popular content on “AMAZON PRIME”). In some embodiments, the control circuitry may return to any portion of process 1200 after terminating process 1200. For example, the super interface application may execute 1218 and then loop back to 1208. In this manner, the super interface application may continually monitor various user interactions with the super interface and update the interface of the super interface based on user preferences detected from the user interactions.

[0083] FIG. 13 is a flow diagram of a process 1300 for selecting a content identifier based on detected user preferences according to some embodiments of the disclosure. For example, a super interface application may use control circuitry 1106 to execute process 1300 to select a content identifier based on detected user preferences. Process 1300 begins at 1302. At 1302, control circuitry monitors (e.g., at a user device) for user interaction with the super interface. At 1304, control circuitry determines whether user interaction with the first interface is detected. In response to a determination that user interaction with the first interface is not detected, the control circuitry may return to 1302. In response to a determination that user interaction with the first interface is detected, the control circuitry may proceed to 1310. At 1310, the control circuitry determines whether the user interaction includes selecting a genre. In response to a determination that the user interaction does not include selecting a genre, the control circuitry may return to any earlier portion of process 1300. Otherwise, in response to determining that the user interaction includes selecting a genre, the control circuitry may proceed to 1316. At 1316, the control circuitry may determine whether the user interaction includes browsing identifiers of content items associated with the selected genre. If the user interaction does not include browsing identifiers of content items associated with the selected genre, the control circuitry may return to any earlier portions of process 1300. If the user interaction includes browsing identifiers of content items associated with the selected genre, the control circuitry may proceed to 1322. At 1322, the control circuitry selects identifiers for a third plurality of content items of the same genre selected at 1316 based on user preferences detected from the user interaction. For example, the super interface application may detect a user preference for a genre based on user interactions that include browsing identifiers of content items associated with the genre using control circuitry 1106. The super interface application may select an identifier of a content item based on the user preference for the genre.

[0084] 14 is a flow diagram of a process 1400 for selecting a content identifier based on detected user preferences according to some embodiments of the disclosure. Process 1400 begins at 1402. At 1402, control circuitry determines whether a user interaction with a first interface includes selecting a first identifier of a first content item of a first plurality of items available from a first content source. In response to a determination that the user interaction does not include selecting a first identifier of the first content item, the control circuitry may continue to another process or return to 1402. In response to a determination that the user interaction does include selecting a first identifier of the first content item, the control circuitry continues to 1404. At 1404, the control circuitry determines a second identifier corresponding to a second content item that matches the first identifier corresponding to the first content item of the first plurality of content items. For example, the super interface application may use control circuitry 1106 to query a second content source that is assigned to a second interface of the super interface. Based on the query, the super interface application may receive an identifier of a content item from the second content source. The super interface application may determine an identifier of the identifier from the second content source based on matching the first identifier. At 1406, the control circuitry determines whether the second content item is preferred based on the user profile. For example, the super interface application may use control circuitry to access the user profile and compare attributes related to preferred content from the user profile with the second content item and / or the second content source. For example, the user profile may include an access log indicating that the user is consuming more content from the second content source. For example, the user profile may include an indication of a preference for high definition quality and / or fewer advertisements in the content item. For example, the super interface application may determine that the second content item is preferred because the second content item has attributes that match the user profile. For example, the second content item may have fewer advertisements, and the super interface application determines that this matches the user profile. For example, the super interface application may determine that the second content item is preferred because the second content source has a cheaper access cost for the second content item. In response to determining that the second content item is not preferred, the control circuitry may loop back to 1402 following path 1408. Otherwise, the control circuitry may continue along paths 1410-1412. At 1412, the control circuitry selects the second content item for inclusion in the third plurality of content items. For example, the super interface application may use control circuitry 1106 to update the second interface to include the second content item in the third plurality of content items based on determining that the second content item is preferred.

[0085] FIG. 15 is a flow diagram of a process 1500 for defining a super interface according to some embodiments of the disclosure. Process 1500 begins at 1502. At 1502, control circuitry defines a super interface comprising a first interface and a second interface. At 1504, control circuitry selects a first content source and a second content source. At 1506, control circuitry assigns the first content source to the first interface and assigns the second content source to the second interface. For example, the super interface application may use control circuitry 1106 to select the first content source to be assigned to the first interface. For example, the super interface application may use control circuitry 1106 to select the second content source to be assigned to the second interface. At 1508, control circuitry selects a first display configuration for the first interface assigned to the first content source and a second display configuration for the second interface assigned to the second content source. At 1510, the control circuitry monitors user interaction (e.g., at the first user device). At 1512, the control circuitry determines whether a super interface is selected at the first user device based on the user interaction. If the super interface is not selected, the control circuitry follows path 1514 and loops back to 1510. In response to determining that the super interface is selected at the first device, the control circuitry follows path 1516 and continues to 1518. At 1518, the control circuitry generates a first interface comprising identifiers of a first plurality of content items available from a first content source on a first display configuration at the first device for display. At 1520, the control circuitry generates a second interface comprising identifiers of a second plurality of content items available from a second content source on a second display configuration at the first device for display.

[0086] FIG. 16 is a flow diagram of a process 1600 for altering a super interface on a user device according to some embodiments of the disclosure. Process 1600 begins at 1602. At 1602, control circuitry receives a super interface comprising an interface in a first display configuration. At 1604, the control circuitry may alter a display size of the first display configuration. At 1606, the control circuitry may alter a display ratio of the first display configuration. The control circuitry may set a relative display size when altering the display ratio. At 1608, the control circuitry may alter a display orientation of the first display configuration. The control circuitry may perform any or all of 1604-1608 in any order. Process 1600 continues to 1610. At 1610, the control circuitry generates a second display configuration based on altering the first display configuration. For example, the super interface application may modify a first display configuration of an interface in the super interface using control circuitry 1106. Based on the modification, the super interface application may generate a second display configuration.

[0087] FIG. 17 is a flow diagram of a process 1700 for providing a super interface to a second user device and altering the super interface on the second user device according to some embodiments of the disclosure. Process 1700 begins at 1702. At 1702, control circuitry receives a request from a first device to provide a super interface to a second device. At 1704, the control circuitry provides the super interface to the second device in response to receiving the request. In some embodiments, access to the super interface is provided to the second device. At 1706, the control circuitry monitors user interaction with the super interface at the second device. At 1708, the control circuitry determines whether a display configuration (e.g., of the first interface) is altered at the second device. If the display configuration has not been altered, the control circuitry may follow path 1710 and loop back to 1706. In response to determining that the display configuration has been altered, the control circuitry may follow path 1712 and continue to 1714. At 1714, the control circuitry generates a third display configuration based on altering the display configuration at the second device. At 1716, the control circuitry generates the first interface in the third display configuration for display at the second device.

[0088] FIG. 18 is a flow diagram of a process 1800 for providing an interface and / or a super-interface to a second user device according to some embodiments of the disclosure. In some embodiments, the process 1800 may be performed by one or more of the devices 1118 and / or 1102 of FIG. 11. For example, steps 1808, 1810, 1814, 1816, 1818, and 1828 may be performed by control circuitry of the first device 1802 of the device 1118. Steps 1820, 1824, 1832, 1834, and 1838 may be performed by control circuitry of the second device 1804 of the device 1118. Steps 1812, 1822, 1829, 1830, and 1836 may be performed by control circuitry of a server or servers 1806 (e.g., server 1102).

[0089] The process 1800 begins when a user device 1802 defines an interface or super-interface. For example, the interface or super-interface may be defined using any suitable technique described above (e.g., as described in FIGS. 3, 5, and / or 8). In addition to defining content sources for the interface or super-interface, the user device 1802 may also define user-defined parameters for each source. For example, the user-defined parameters may include genre, network, and / or content type. In some embodiments, each content identifier from each selected content source may be defined to be filtered according to the user-defined parameters. For example, the user device 1802 may select “Netflix” as one of the content sources for the super-interface and further limit the display of content identifiers from Netflix to a list of predefined content categories or carousels (e.g., “Trending,” “Netflix Exclusives,” “80s Action Movies,” and “Romantic Comedies”).

[0090] In some embodiments, the user device 1802 may be used to define a single source interface instead of a super interface. For example, a Netflix interface (e.g., defined as discussed above) may be the single display content source within the user-defined interface. In some embodiments, the user device 1802 may be used to define multiple sources for a super interface. For example, a super interface may be defined to display a first user-defined list of carousels for Netflix and a second user-defined list of carousels for AMAZON PRIME.

[0091] In step 1810, the user device 1802 may request from the server 1806 (e.g., via an API provided by the server 1806) content identifiers to be displayed according to the designed interface or super-interface. In step 1812, the server 1806 may provide a list of content identifiers according to the interface or super-interface definition for display. For example, the server 1806 may provide content identifiers that populate a selected content carousel on the device 1802 for display. For example, separate lists of content item identifiers for "Trending," "Netflix Exclusives," "80s Action Movies," and "Romantic Comedies" may be provided to be displayed within the interface or super-interface defined in 1808. In step 1814, content item identifiers may be generated at the device 1802 for display (e.g., as shown in FIG. 1).

[0092] A user of device 1802 may then initiate sharing of the interface or super-interface to be designed. For example, the user may press a "share button" or use any other suitable user interface element to initiate sharing of the interface or super-interface.

[0093] In one approach 1826, the device 1802 may generate a shareable ID or shareable link to send to other users (e.g., users of the user device 1804). In some embodiments, the shareable ID or shareable link may be generated by the server 1806. The server 1806 may also store an interface definition of the designed interface or super-interface that is associated with the link or ID. For example, the link may take the form www.<domain>.com / share / ABC123, where "<domain>" is the domain name of the server 1806 on a public network (e.g., on the Internet) and "ABC123" is a unique identifier of the designed interface or super-interface.

[0094] At 1818, the user device 1802 may transmit the link or ID to the user device 1804. For example, the link may be sent via email, via text message, or via any other suitable communication protocol. At 1820, the user device 1802 may request a designed user interface from the server 1806 using the link or ID. For example, the user of the device 1806 may paste the link into a web browser or the ID into an app sharing interface provided by the server 1086. At step 1822, the server 1806 finds an interface or super-interface associated with the unique link or unique ID and transmits the interface or super-interface to the device 1804. At 1824, the device 1804 may generate the defined interface or super-interface for display similar to how it would have been displayed on the device 1802 at step 1814.

[0095] In some embodiments, the received defined interface may be blended with an interface already shown on device 1804. For example, if device 1804 is currently displaying an interface that includes categories defined for source "AMAZON PRIME" and receives a defined interface that includes categories defined for source "Netflix," device 1806 may begin displaying a super-interface that includes categories from both "AMAZON PRIME" and "Netflix" (e.g., as shown in FIG. 1). In another example, the newly received interface may be added to the already displayed super-interface (e.g., instead of displaying a super-interface with two sources, device 1804 may begin displaying a super-interface with three sources).

[0096] In another approach 1840, the server 1806 may store all or some of the interfaces defined by the user device. For example, in step 1829, the server 1806 may assign a unique link or ID (e.g., as described in step 1816) to the newly submitted interface received in step 1810. In step 1830, the server 1806 may store the defined interface or super-interface in a library of interfaces associated with the ID or unique link.

[0097] In step 1832, the device 1804 may allow a user of the device 1804 to browse a library of interfaces or super-interfaces (e.g., by showing a description and / or preview of each stored interface or super-interface). The user of the device 1804 may then select one of the stored interfaces or super-interfaces (e.g., by selecting an ID or hyperlink for that interface or super-interface). In step 1834, the selection is then transmitted to the server 1806.

[0098] After the selection in step 1834 is received by the server 1806, the server 1806 fetches the interface or super-interface identified by the selected ID or hyperlink. In step 1836, the server 1806 transmits the interface or super-interface to the device 1804. In 1838, the device 1804 may generate the defined interface or super-interface for display similar to how it would have been displayed on the device 1802 in step 1814. In some embodiments, the device 1804 may blend the received interface or super-interface with an existing interface or super-interface.
