AI Technical Summary
The existing coating apparatuses face issues with varnish plates changing posture during mounting, leading to wrinkles due to manual handling, especially with gripping side vises of the manual opening/closing type, which complicates the attachment process and increases the likelihood of varnish plate wrinkling.
The coating apparatus incorporates a plate guide that can switch between pressing and non-pressing positions, ensuring the varnish plate is held in a stretched state within the gripping side vise, using a cover that rotates to adjust the guide's position and restricts movement, thereby preventing posture changes and wrinkles.
This configuration effectively prevents varnish plate wrinkling by maintaining a stable posture during attachment, reducing the need for additional parts and minimizing apparatus size while ensuring smooth operation.

Abstract
Description
[Technical Field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a coating device for coating a material with varnish. [Background technology]
[0002] Such a coating device comprises a varnish cylinder to which the varnish to be coated on the material to be coated, for example, the printed surface of a printed material, is supplied, and a varnish impression cylinder for transporting the printed material and pressing the varnish from the varnish cylinder onto the transported printed material.
[0003] A varnish plate for coating with varnish is manually attached to the varnish cylinder. When attaching the varnish plate to the varnish cylinder, the jaw side end of the varnish plate is manually inserted into the jaw side vise, which is in an open state, and the jaw side vise is then closed. However, if the orientation of the varnish plate changes after the varnish plate is inserted and before the jaw side vise is closed, the varnish plate will become floating. If the jaw side vise is closed and the varnish plate is attached in this state, the varnish plate will be attached to the varnish cylinder in a wrinkled state. Therefore, when attaching a varnish plate, it is usually necessary to manually press the varnish plate so that it fits into the varnish cylinder side.
[0004] In particular, in the case of a manually opened / closed jaw-side vice, as in Patent Document 1, the position of the varnish plate changes and the varnish plate is more likely to wrinkle because the varnish plate cannot be pressed down by hand when the jaw plates are closed against the vise base using a tool.Furthermore, in a configuration in which the jaw plates are divided into left and right jaw plates and each jaw plate is closed separately using a tool, one jaw plate is closed before the other jaw plate is closed, further increasing the possibility of the varnish plate wrinkling as described above. [0005] [Patent Document 1] Publication number 7-42732 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0006] The present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems, and aims to provide a coating device that can prevent the posture of a varnish plate from changing when its gripping side end is inserted into the gripping side vise. [Means for solving the problem]
[0007] In order to achieve the above-mentioned object, the coating device of the present invention comprises a varnish cylinder on which a varnish plate is wound, from which varnish to be applied to the material to be coated is supplied, and a varnish impression cylinder arranged opposite the varnish cylinder to transfer the varnish from the varnish plate to the material to be coated; the varnish cylinder comprises a jaw side vise into which the jaw side end of the varnish plate is inserted and clamped to wrap the varnish plate around its circumferential surface, and a tail side vise into which the tail side end of the wrapped varnish plate is inserted and clamped; and is characterized by comprising a plate guide that can be switched between a pressing position in which the varnish plate can be pressed when the jaw side end is inserted into the jaw side vise, and a non-pressing position in which it is not pressed.
[0008] According to the above configuration, when the plate guide is in the non-pressing position, the jaw-side end of the varnish plate is inserted into the jaw-side vice, and the inserted varnish plate is pressed by the plate guide switched from the non-pressing position to the pressing position, so that the varnish plate can be held in a taut state in the jaw-side vice. This prevents the posture of the varnish plate inserted in the jaw-side vice from changing and becoming loose before the jaw-side vice is closed. This prevents the varnish plate from being attached to the varnish cylinder in a wrinkled state.
[0009] In addition, in the coating device according to the present invention, the plate guide may be provided on the inner side of an openable cover that covers the varnishing cylinder.
[0010] According to the above configuration, by providing a plate guide on the inner side of the openable cover that covers the varnish cylinder, a special member for providing the plate guide is not required, and the number of parts can be reduced.
[0011] In addition, the coating device of the present invention may be configured so that the cover can be opened and closed by rotation, and the plate guide can be switched from the non-pressing position to the pressing position by rotating the cover a predetermined angle from the open state to the closed state.
[0012] According to the above configuration, by rotating the cover from the open state to the closed state by a predetermined angle, the plate guide is switched from the non-pressing position to the pressing position, and the varnish plate can be reliably pressed by the plate guide.
[0013] In addition, the coating device of the present invention may be configured so that the plate guide can be moved between an operating position close to the varnish cylinder when the cover is open, and a retracted position away from the varnish cylinder relative to the operating position.
[0014] According to the above configuration, when the cover is open, the plate guide can be moved between an operating position close to the varnish cylinder and a retracted position away from the varnish cylinder relative to the operating position.
[0015] The coating device according to the present invention may also include a restricting member for restricting movement of the plate guide toward the varnish cylinder when the cover is in a closed state.
[0016] According to the above configuration, the movement of the plate guide toward the varnish cylinder is restricted when the cover is closed, so that the plate guide can be prevented from moving unexpectedly and coming into contact with the varnish cylinder.
[0017] In the coating apparatus according to the present invention, the plate guide may be disposed along an inner surface of the cover at the retracted position.
[0018] According to the above configuration, if the plate guide is arranged along the inner surface of the cover in the retracted position, the space required for arranging the plate guide in the thickness direction of the cover can be reduced, thereby preventing the coating device from becoming larger.
[0019] Furthermore, the coating device according to the present invention may be provided with a guide member on the outer surface side of the cover for guiding the varnishing plate wound around the varnishing cylinder.
[0020] According to the above configuration, when the varnish plate is wrapped around the cover, the varnish plate is guided by a guide member provided on the outer surface side of the cover, thereby preventing the varnish plate from coming into contact with surrounding components and being damaged. [Effects of the Invention]
[0021] According to the present invention, a coating device can be provided that can prevent the posture of a varnish plate from changing by pressing the varnish plate, whose clamping side end is inserted into the clamping side vise, with a plate guide that has been switched from a non-pressing position to a pressing position. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0023] The coating apparatus of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
[0024] Figure 1 shows an example of a printing press incorporating a coating device 1 for surface treatment by coating (applying) varnish (also called resin varnish) to give gloss to the printed surface of printed printing paper (material to be coated).
[0025] This printing press includes a pile of paper 2, a paper feed unit 4 for feeding print paper P (sheets) one by one from the pile of paper 2 using a feeder device 3, a printing unit 5 for printing on the print paper P fed from the paper feed unit 4, a coating device 1 for coating the print paper printed by the printing unit 5 with varnish (UV-curable resin varnish), a paper discharge unit 6 for transporting and discharging the print paper coated with varnish by the coating device 1, and an ultraviolet dryer 7 located within the paper discharge unit 6 for curing the varnish on the print paper transported by the paper discharge unit 6. Infrared dryers 8A and 8B are provided at the front and rear of the ultraviolet dryer 7 in the print paper transport direction. These infrared dryers 8A and 8B are used to dry the water-based varnish coated on the print paper. In Figure 1, the pile of paper 2 side is the front side, the paper discharge unit 6 side is the rear side, and the direction penetrating the paper surface is the left-right direction (or width direction). In the following description, the pile of paper 2 side is the front side, the paper discharge unit 6 side is the rear side, and the direction through the paper surface is the left-right direction (or width direction).
[0026] The printing section 5 includes multiple (five-color) printing units 5A-5E. These printing units 5A-5E include printing impression cylinders 5a-5e, and transfer cylinders 9a-9e are provided upstream of the printing impression cylinders 5a-5e in the conveying direction, respectively, for transferring printing paper P to the printing impression cylinders 5a-5e. The transfer cylinder 9a with a smaller diameter, located at the start (front) of the transfer cylinders 9a-9e in the conveying direction, is also referred to as a paper feed cylinder. This transfer cylinder 9a and the feeder device 3 together form the paper feed section 4. Although not shown, each of the cylinders 5a-5e and transfer cylinders 9a-9e is provided with grippers at multiple locations (or just one location) around its circumference that grip the fed printing paper P with a claw base and claw. Although not shown, the small-diameter transfer cylinder 9a also has a gripper at one location around its circumference that grips the printing paper P with a claw base and claw.
[0027] The coating device 1 comprises a varnish cylinder 1A on which a varnish plate 11 to be supplied with varnish is mounted (Figures 2 and 3 show the varnish plate 11 before it is wrapped around the varnish cylinder 1A), a varnish supply roller 10 for supplying varnish to the varnish plate 11 on the varnish cylinder 1A, and a varnish impression cylinder 1B arranged opposite and below the varnish cylinder 1A for transporting printed printing paper and transferring the varnish from the varnish plate 11 to the transported printing paper.
[0028] The coating device 1 also includes a moving mechanism (not shown) that can switch the varnishing cylinder 1A between a position where it is close to the varnishing impression cylinder 1B and the varnish supply roller 10 to transfer the varnish, and a position where it is separated from the varnishing impression cylinder 1B and the varnish supply roller 10. In the separated position, the varnish plate 11 (described later) is installed and equipment maintenance is performed. Furthermore, a transfer cylinder 1G (see Figure 1) is located upstream (front) of the varnishing impression cylinder 1B in the transport direction to transfer the printing paper to the varnishing impression cylinder 1B. This transfer cylinder 1G has grippers at multiple locations (or just one location) around its circumference that grip the delivered printing paper with a claw pad and claw. The varnishing plate 11 is made of a flexible synthetic resin and is more flexible than the printing plate attached to the plate cylinder. Therefore, the varnishing plate 11 is prone to wrinkling when attached to the varnishing cylinder 1A.
[0029] As shown in Figures 2 and 3, the coating device 1 includes a protective cover 18 having a front portion 18A extending upward above the coating cylinder 1A and a top portion 18B extending rearward from the upper end of the front portion 18A. The cover 12 is also equipped with an openable and closable metal cover 12 that covers the coating cylinder 1A from above. The cover 12 is configured to be openable and closable by rotating it about a left-right axis X1 at its rear end. The cover 12 also includes an inclined plate portion 12A formed with multiple rectangular holes 12K elongated in the left-right direction and sloping downward toward its front end; a vertical plate portion 12B bent downward from the front end of the inclined plate portion 12A; and a bent portion 12C bent rearward from the lower end of the vertical plate portion 12B and then bent upward. When the cover 12 is closed, the rear end of the bent portion 12C abuts against a rubber band 31 (see Figure 3) provided on the coating device body, restricting the closed state of the cover 12. Then, at each of the left and right ends of the inclined plate portion 12A, there are formed protrusions 13, 13 (only one (the right side) is shown in Figure 2) that extend in the front-rear direction and are bent outward, and the rear ends of arm portions 14, 14 (only one (the right side) is shown in Figure 2) that extend in the front-rear direction and are fixed to the inner surfaces of these protrusions 13, 13 are pivotally supported at the body of the coating device 1. This pivoting allows the cover 12 to rotate about a left-right axis X1, and when the varnish plate 11 is installed or during maintenance, the cover 12 can be changed between an open state (see Figures 4 to 6) in which it is rotated about the axis X1 and lifted upward to assume an up-down position, a closed state (see Figures 2 and 3) in which it covers the varnish cylinder 1A, and an intermediate state (see Figure 9) in which it is rotated a predetermined angle from the open state toward the closed state.
[0030] When the cover 12 is in the open state, the cover 12 is close to the front portion 18A of the protective cover 18 located behind the cover 12, and the cover 12 is attracted to the first magnets M1, M1 (only one (the right side) is shown in FIG. 2 ) attached to the front portion 18A, thereby maintaining the open state of the cover 12. When the cover 12 is in the intermediate state, as shown in FIG. 10 , a push bolt 24 attached to the left end (one end) of the inner surface of the cover 12 on the front side in the front-rear direction is engageably and disengageably engaged with a hole 23A formed in the left side wall portion 23 of the left and right side wall portions 23, thereby maintaining the intermediate state of the cover 12. Incidentally, by engaging the push bolt 24 with a hole 23B formed in the left side wall portion 23 even when the cover 12 is in the open state, the cover 12 can be prevented from separating from the first magnets M1, M1 and moving toward the closed side. The push bolt 24 may be provided on both the left and right sides of the cover 12.
[0031] To explain the varnish cylinder 1A in more detail, as shown in Figure 3, the recess 1K formed in the varnish cylinder 1A is provided with a leading edge clamp 15 into which the leading edge end of the varnish plate 11 is inserted and clamped in order to wrap the varnish plate 11 around the circumferential surface, and a trailing edge clamp 16 into which the trailing edge end of the wrapped varnish plate 11 is inserted and clamped.
[0032] The gripping side vise 15 is equipped with a vise base 15A fixed upstream of the rotation direction of the varnish cylinder 1A within the recess 1K (see Figure 1), and a gripping plate 15B arranged opposite the vise base 15A and movable between a closed position where it clamps the gripping edge of the varnish plate 11 together with the vise base 15A, and an open position where it can insert the gripping edge of the varnish plate 11. The varnish plate 11 is wound around the varnish cylinder 1A by rotating the varnish cylinder 1A by a predetermined angle while the gripping edge of the varnish plate 11 is clamped by the gripping side vise 15. There are two vise bases 15A and two gripping plates 15B (only the gripping plate 15B is visible in Figures 5 and 6) arranged on the left and right sides.
[0033] A plate guide 17 is installed on the inner surface of the cover 12, and is capable of pressing backward the surface of the varnishing plate 11, whose gripping end is inserted into the gripping-side vice 15 in the open position, at a position spaced upward from the varnishing cylinder 1A. As shown in FIG. 3, the plate guide 17 can be positioned along the inner surface of the cover 12. This reduces the amount of protrusion of the plate guide 17 from the cover 12 toward the varnishing cylinder 1A (downward). This reduces the space required for arranging the plate guide 17 in the thickness direction of the cover 12, preventing the coating device 1 from becoming too large. As shown in Fig. 5, the plate guide 17 comprises a rotatable roller 19 extending in the left-right direction, having approximately the same diameter and a dimension longer than the width of the varnish plate 11, a pair of left and right brackets 20, 20 extending in the front-to-rear direction (up-and-down direction in Fig. 5), which rotatably support the left and right ends of the roller 19 at one longitudinal end (tip end) and are configured to be rotatable about a left-right axis with the other longitudinal end (base end) serving as pivot point X2, and guide pins 21, 21 protruding outward in the left-right direction from the brackets 20, 20 at the left and right end positions of the roller 19. Therefore, with the cover 12 open, the plate guide 17 can be rotated about pivot point X2 to change the position of the roller 19 between a retracted position (see Figs. 4 and 7) where it is separated from the varnish cylinder 1A and an operating position (see Fig. 8) where it is close to the varnish cylinder 1A. In addition, in the retracted position, the roller 19 is farther from the varnish cylinder 1A than the axis X1, which is the center of rotation of the cover 12, and in the operating position, it is closer to the varnish cylinder 1A than the axis X1. The roller 19 constitutes a pressing member that presses the varnish plate 11 inserted in the jaw-side vice 15.
[0034] The plate guide 17 can be held in position by the cover 12 in both the retracted position and the operating position. That is, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 7, a metal plate 22 configured in a generally Z-shape in side view is attached between the brackets 20, 20 of the plate guide 17. A pair of second magnets M2, M2 (only one of which is shown in FIG. 7) are provided at both left and right ends of the inner surface of the cover 12 on the side opposite the axis X1 for magnetically attracting and holding a first portion 22A of the plate 22 on the roller 19 side when the plate guide 17 is in the retracted position. Furthermore, a pair of third magnets M3, M3 (only one of which is shown in FIG. 7) are provided at both left and right ends of the inner surface of the cover 12 on the axis X1 side when the plate guide 17 is in the operating position for magnetically attracting and holding a second portion 22B of the plate 22 on the side away from the roller 19. The pivot point X2 relative to the cover 12 is located closer to the rear end than the center of the inner surface of the cover 12 in the front-to-rear direction. By providing the plate guide 17 on the inner surface side of the cover 12, a special member for providing the plate guide 17 becomes unnecessary, and the number of parts can be reduced.
[0035] As shown in Fig. 9, three guide members 25 are provided on the outer surface of the cover 12 to guide the varnish plate 11 when it is wound around the varnish cylinder 1A. The guide members 25 are composed of rotatable guide rollers. As shown in Fig. 2, the guide rollers 25 (guide members 25) are rollers that are long in the left-right direction, and are provided at intervals in the front-rear direction between the protrusions 13, 13 formed on both the left and right ends of the cover 12. The number of guide rollers 25 may be any number other than three.
[0036] The guide pins 21, 21 provided on the plate guide 17 constitute a regulating member (first regulating member) that cooperates with the engaged member 27 described later to regulate the movement of the plate guide 17 toward the varnish cylinder 1A when the cover 12 is closed.
[0037] As shown in Figure 11, the guide pins 21, 21 are intended to restrict the movement of the plate guide 17 toward the varnish cylinder 1A by engaging with engaging members 27, 27 attached to the left and right side wall portions 23, 23 (see Figure 5) of the coating device main body when the cover 12 is closed.
[0038] As shown in FIG. 3, each engaged member 27 includes a plate-shaped main body 27A positioned above the varnish cylinder 1A and a linear groove 27M formed on the left-right inner side of the main body 27A, extending in the front-rear direction and having a substantially uniform width. The front end of the groove 27M is provided with a guide surface 27S for guiding the guide pin 21 to reliably engage with the groove 27M. This guide surface 27S is configured as an inclined surface positioned downward toward the engagement start end (front side). A pair of left and right guide covers 28, 28 extending forward are attached to the underside of each engaged member 27. When the cover 12 is closed as shown in FIG. 3, if the plate guide 17, which is held in a retracted position by the magnetic force of the second magnets M2, M2, becomes detached from the second magnets M2, M2 for some reason, the guide pins 21 come into contact with the guide covers 28, 28, and they function as second restricting members to prevent the plate guide 17 from moving toward the varnish cylinder 1A and interfering with the varnish cylinder 1A. The guide covers 28, 28 are configured in a generally inverted L shape when viewed from the front-rear direction, and include contact portions 28A, 28A formed so as to be positioned above the varnish cylinder 1A when viewed from the side.
[0039] The varnish plate 11 is available in several types with different thicknesses, and when the varnish plate 11 is attached to the varnish cylinder 1A, a sheet member (not shown) for adjusting the thickness may be interposed between the varnish plate 11 and the varnish cylinder 1A.
[0040] The tail side vise 16 is equipped with a vise base 16A fixed downstream in the rotation direction (see Figure 1) of the varnishing cylinder 1A within the recess 1K, and a tail side jaw plate 16B arranged opposite the vise base 16A and movable between a closed position where it clamps the tail side end of the varnish plate 11 together with the vise base 16A, and an open position where it is possible to insert the tail side end of the varnish plate 11. The tail side jaw vise 16 is also configured to be rotatable about a left-right axis by a rotation mechanism (not shown). This rotation applies tension to the varnish plate 11 wrapped around the varnishing cylinder 1A, with the jaw side end clamped in the jaw side vise 15 and the tail side end clamped in the tail side vise 16, respectively. The vise bases 16A and the clamping plates 16B (only the clamping plates 16B are visible in Figs. 5 and 6) are arranged in pairs on the left and right sides, and the clamping plates 16B can be opened and closed separately on the left and right sides.
[0041] As shown in Figures 2 and 3, a pair of guide rollers 29, 29 (only the right one is visible in Figure 2) that can rotate about their respective axes are provided at both left and right ends of the upper end of the front side portion 18A, and a rotatable clamping roller 30 that can swing about its respective axis between a clamping position (see Figure 7) where it clamps the varnish plate 11 with the guide rollers 29, 29 and a release position (see Figure 3) where it moves away from the guide rollers 29 and releases the clamping. The clamping roller 30 has a length greater than the overall width of the varnish plate 11. A plurality of strip-shaped sheets 18K (see Figure 10) made of a material that has low contact resistance with the varnish plate 11 are attached to the front surface of the front side portion 18A at predetermined intervals in the left-right direction. 3, the lower part of the front side portion 18A has an inclined portion 18a bent diagonally backward so that the lower part is positioned further rearward, a vertical portion 18b extending downward from the lower end of the inclined portion 18a, a bottom portion 18c bent forward from the lower end of the vertical portion 18b, and a rising portion 18d bent upward from the front end of the bottom portion 18c. The vertical portion 18b, the bottom portion 18c, and the rising portion 18d form a receiving portion that receives the lower end of the varnish plate 11.
[0042] Using the above configuration, the procedure for mounting the varnish plate 11 on the varnish cylinder 1A will be described.
[0043] First, the varnish plate 11 to be installed is temporarily placed along the top side 18B of the protective cover 18 and the front side 18A (see FIGS. 2 and 3). At this time, the lower end (champing side end) of the varnish plate 11 is received in the receiving section at the lower end of the front side 18A. Next, the cover 12 is rotated to the open position and held in position by the first magnets M1, M1 (see FIG. 2) (see FIGS. 4 to 6). Next, the clamping rollers 30 are swung to the clamping position (see FIG. 7) to clamp the varnish plate 11 between the guide roller 29 and the clamping rollers 30, and then the clamping side end of the varnish plate 11 is held and inserted between the vise base 15A and the clamping plate 15B of the clamping side vise 15 (see FIG. 7). Next, the plate guide 17, which is in the retracted position, is rotated approximately 180 degrees around the pivot point X2 to the operating position where it protrudes downward from the cover 12 (see FIG. 8). After this, the cover 12 is rotated from the open position to the intermediate position, and the push bolt 24 is engaged with the hole 23A to hold the cover 12 in the intermediate position (see FIG. 9). At this time, the plate guide 17, which is in the non-pressing position, is switched to the pressing position where it presses the varnish plate 11. The trailing edge of the varnish plate 11, now separated from the clamping roller 30, falls toward the cover 12 and is supported by the guide rollers 25, 25, 25 of the cover 12. In this pressing position, the rollers 19 of the plate guide 17 press the surface of the varnish plate 11, whose leading edge is inserted in the jaw-side vise 15, approximately backward above the varnish cylinder 1A, thereby holding the varnish plate 11 in a taut state in the jaw-side vise 15. Furthermore, the varnish plate 11 can be pressed against the outer surface of the varnish cylinder 1A near the jaw-side vice 15. This prevents the posture of the varnish plate 11 inserted into the jaw-side vice 15 from changing and causing the varnish plate 11 to become floating or misaligned before the jaw-side vice 15 is closed. This prevents the varnish plate 11 from being attached to the varnish cylinder 1A in a wrinkled state. In the intermediate state of the cover 12, the plate guide 17 is in an inclined position, as shown in Figure 9, positioned downward toward the roller 19 at the tip, but it may also be configured to be in a horizontal position.
[0044] Next, the cam 33 on one side in the left-right direction is manually rotated clockwise using the tool 32 shown in Figures 9 and 10 to close the jaw plate 16B on one side in the left-right direction and clamp (hold) one side of the jaw end of the varnish plate 11 in the left-right direction. The cam 33 on the other side in the left-right direction is then similarly manually rotated clockwise to close the jaw plate 16B on the other side in the left-right direction and clamp (hold) the other side of the jaw end of the varnish plate 11 in the left-right direction. After clamping the jaw end of the varnish plate 11, the varnish cylinder 1A is rotated clockwise by a predetermined angle, and the varnish plate 11 is wound around the varnish cylinder 1A. During this winding, the guide rollers 25, 25, 25 and the roller 19 rotate to guide the varnish plate 11, thereby preventing scratches on the varnish plate 11. After wrapping, the trailing edge of the varnish plate 11 is held and inserted between the varnish plate holder 16A and the jaw plate 16B of the trailing edge vise 16. The left and right trailing edge vise 16, 16 are closed using the tool 32, similar to the jaw side vise 15, 15, and tension is applied to the varnish plate 11 as described above, completing the installation of the varnish plate 11. After completion, the push bolt 24 is disengaged and the intermediate cover 12 is rotated downward to close (see Figure 11). At this time, as the cover 12 rotates downward, the guide pins 21, 21 move further toward the rear of the grooves 27M, 27M of the engaged members 27, 27, maintaining engagement. This restricts movement of the plate guide 17 toward the varnish cylinder 1A, and the cover 12 is then closed.
[0045] In this embodiment, the cover 12 is closed with the plate guide 17 in the operating position, but the cover 12 may be rotated from the intermediate state to the open state above, changing the position of the plate guide 17 from the operating position to the retracted position, and then the cover 12 may be rotated to the closed state (the state shown in FIG. 3). With the cover 12 in this closed state, the plate guide 17 is attracted and held to the cover 12 by the second magnets M2, but if the plate guide 17 becomes detached from the second magnets M2 for some reason, the guide pins 21, 21 will abut against the abutment portions 28A, 28A of the guide covers 28, 28, preventing the plate guide 17 from moving (falling) and interfering with the varnishing cylinder 1A.
[0046] The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and various modifications are possible without departing from the spirit of the present invention.
[0047] In the above embodiment, the printing section 5 is shown to have five printing units 5A to 5E, but the number of printing units is not limited to five. Also, there may be no printing units. Furthermore, the paper discharge section 6 is configured with a chain conveying device equipped with a gripper, but the printing press may not have this paper discharge section 6, and the specific configuration of each part constituting the printing press is not limited to that shown in the figure. Furthermore, sheets of paper are used as printing paper, but film or continuous long paper may also be used. Furthermore, the material to be coated may be paper or film that has not been printed on.
[0048] In addition, in the above embodiment, the plate guide 17 was rotated relative to the cover 12 to change its position between the retracted position and the operating position, but the plate guide 17 may also be slid relative to the cover 12 to change its position between the retracted position and the operating position.
[0049] Furthermore, in the above embodiment, the plate guide 17 is provided on the cover 12, and is positioned in the operating position, while the cover 12 is in an intermediate state, thereby switching the plate guide 17 from a non-pressing position in which the varnish plate 11 is not pressed to a pressing position in which the varnish plate 11 is pressed. However, the plate guide may be provided on a fixed member other than the cover, and the plate guide may be switched from a non-pressing position in which the varnish plate 11 is not pressed to a pressing position in which the varnish plate 11 is pressed simply by positioning the plate guide from the retracted position to the operating position.
[0050] In addition, in the above embodiment, the roller 19 and the guide roller 25 are configured from a single rotating body that extends in the left-right direction with the same diameter, but they may also be a single rotating body with multiple large diameter portions, or a configuration with multiple independent rotating bodies (rollers or spheres) spaced apart in the left-right direction.
[0051] In the above embodiment, the pressing member is made up of a rotatable roller 19, and the guide member is made up of a rotatable guide roller 25, but the pressing member and the guide member may be made up of non-rotating members. In this case, it is preferable that the member that comes into contact with the varnish plate 11 is made of a soft material (e.g., rubber, synthetic resin, nonwoven fabric, etc.) or a brush.
[0052] In the above embodiment, two vice bases 15A, 16A and two clamping plates 15B, 16B are provided on each side, but any number of three or more may be provided, or only one may be provided. [Explanation of symbols]
