Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a transparent cosmetic composition for improving the sagging of eyelashes.

[0002] This application claims priority based on Korean Patent Application No. 10-2019-0168740 filed on December 17, 2019, and all the contents disclosed in the specification and drawings of the said application are incorporated into this application.

Background Art

[0003] Mascara is used for applying to eyelashes to emphasize the eye line and give beauty to the look. It is important for mascara applied to eyelashes to have a long-lasting makeup effect. Specific characteristics such as no color bleeding, no powder falling, and no curl sagging are required for the durability of mascara. As a dosage form of mascara devised to give such characteristics, a transparent top coat is typical. The top coat is used for applying over the eyelashes coated with mascara to further improve the durability, or for applying over uncoated eyelashes for the purpose of obtaining a curling effect.

[0004] Such a transparent top coat is mainly a water-dispersed dosage form product applying an aqueous film former. Such a water-dispersed top coat forms a transparent film after drying and has good makeup retention in terms of visual appearance, but after applying to eyelashes, it not only easily causes curl sagging but also easily disappears due to tears or sweat.

[0005] As another method for improving the durability of eyelash makeup, there is a method of using anhydrous or water-in-oil (W / O) mascara. Such a mascara in this dosage form has been commercialized as a waterproof mascara, a fixer or a top coat. However, when anhydrous or W / O mascara is applied to the eyelashes, since the eyelashes are not directly touched by moisture, the phenomenon of the curl dropping can be prevented. However, when the wax and film-forming agent used in the dosage form dry, irregular reflection of light occurs due to the uneven surface, or a white floating phenomenon occurs due to the remaining solid phase, so it is difficult to obtain a desirable effect without pigment. In order to prevent this, it is necessary to always add pigment to the anhydrous or W / O dosage form of mascara, but there is a disadvantage that bleeding may occur due to the pigment, and it is difficult to obtain a natural makeup effect such as a bare face called "naked makeup".

[0006] Therefore, by solving the above disadvantages, there is a demand for the development of a mascara dosage form that maintains transparency even after being applied to the eyelashes and dried, and does not cause the eyelash curl to droop.

Summary of the Invention

Problems to be Solved by the Invention

[0007] The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a cosmetic composition that maintains transparency even after being applied to the eyelashes and dried, and improves the eyelash curl drooping.

Means for Solving the Problems

[0008] As a result of intensive research efforts to solve the above problems of the prior art, the present inventors have found that when a styrene-based hydrocarbon main chain polymer thickener, a film-forming agent and a volatile oil are combined, the cosmetic composition, preferably the mascara composition, is not only transparent after drying, but also has an excellent effect of preventing eyelash curl drooping and a natural makeup effect, and thus completed the present invention.

[0009] In the present invention, "lash sag" means that after applying the cosmetic composition of the present invention, preferably a mascara composition, to the eyelashes, the fixed eyelashes gradually droop over time, and the angle of the eyelashes decreases with respect to immediately after application of the composition.

[0010] The present invention provides a cosmetic composition containing a styrenic hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickener, a film-forming agent, and a volatile oil. The film-forming agent forms a film on the eyelashes or the skin, and the styrenic hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickener can prevent the irreversible formation of the film. In the cosmetic composition of the present invention, the combination of the film-forming agent and the styrenic hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickener enables the effective formation of a transparent and uniform cosmetic film.

[0011] In one embodiment, the cosmetic composition can be an oil-dispersed (or anhydrous) dosage form based on a volatile oil. By containing a volatile oil, preferably a volatile hydrocarbon oil, in the cosmetic composition of the present invention, the styrenic hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickener and the film-forming agent can be effectively oil-dispersed, and the volatile oil dries quickly during use, so that it can be effectively used in dosage forms such as mascara, lip gloss, makeup fixer, or top coat.

[0012] In one embodiment, as the styrenic hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickener, any one or more selected from the group consisting of styrene / isoprene copolymer, styrene / isoprene / styrene copolymer, styrene / butadiene copolymer, styrene / butadiene / styrene copolymer, styrene / ethylene / butylene / styrene copolymer, styrene / ethylene / butylene copolymer, styrene / ethylene / propylene / styrene copolymer, styrene / ethylene / propylene copolymer, styrene / butadiene / butylene / styrene copolymer, and styrene / butadiene / butylene copolymer can be used. Preferably, a hydrogenated styrene / isoprene copolymer can be used as the styrenic hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickener.

[0013] The thickener has a specific yield value when dissolved or dispersed in a solvent. A thickener with a high yield value is difficult to remove the fine bubbles generated after manufacturing the dosage form. If there are fine bubbles in the dosage form, the surface of the film formed on the eyelashes is not uniform and does not dry smoothly, inducing diffuse reflection of light and affecting the transparency of the dosage form. Since the styrene-based hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickener has a low yield value, it is easy to remove bubbles and can effectively improve the transparency of the dosage form.

[0014] In one embodiment, the hydrogenated styrene / isoprene copolymer used as the styrene-based hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickener may have the chemical structure of the following Chemical Formula 1.

Chemical formula

Chemical formula

[0015] In one embodiment, the styrene-based hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickener can be 1 to 20% by weight, preferably 3 to 17% by weight, more preferably 5 to 15% by weight based on the total weight of the composition. If the styrene-based hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickener is less than 1% by weight, the viscosity is too low and it will flow off during use, so it is not suitable for use as an eyelash makeup (mascara). Also, if the styrene-based hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickener exceeds 20% by weight, the viscosity of the dosage form may be too high and the usability may be impaired.

[0016] In one embodiment, while not forming an irreversible film, the cosmetic composition can contain an additional thickening agent in addition to the styrene-based hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickening agent for forming a uniform cosmetic film and phase stabilization. When an additional thickening agent is included, in order to maintain the transparency of the dosage form, the styrene-based hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickening agent with a low yield value can be included at 60% by weight or more, preferably 70% by weight or more, more preferably 80% by weight or more, and most preferably 90% by weight or more based on the total weight of the thickening agent. As the additional thickening agent, one or more selected from the group consisting of gum arabic, xanthan gum, carrageenan, hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose and cellulose derivatives, dextrin palmitate, dextrin palmitate / ethylhexanoate, etc. can be included.

[0017] In one embodiment, as the film-forming agent, one or more selected from the group consisting of trimethylsiloxysilyl carbamoyl pullulan, acrylate / dimethicone copolymer, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, ammonium acrylate copolymer, PVP / eicosene copolymer, acrylic / acrylate copolymer, acrylate copolymer, alkyl acrylate copolymer emulsion, and hydroxyethyl cellulose dimethyldiallylammonium chloride copolymer (polyquaternium-4) can be used. Desirably, the film-forming agent can form a transparent and uniform film using trimethylsiloxysilyl carbamoyl pullulan, acrylate / dimethicone copolymer, or a mixture thereof. The film-forming agent can be included at 1 to 30% by weight, preferably 3 to 25% by weight based on the total weight of the composition. If the film-forming agent is less than 1% by weight, the film-forming ability of the composition is insufficient, and if it exceeds 30% by weight, the transparency of the dosage form may be significantly reduced.

[0018] In one embodiment, the volatile oil can be used without limitation as long as it is a volatile oil used in the manufacturing of cosmetic compositions in the industry. Among liquid oils such as silicone oil, hydrocarbon oil, polar oil, and non-polar oil, solid oil, and semi-solid oil, as long as it belongs to the volatile oil, it can be used as the volatile oil of the present invention.

[0019] In one embodiment, a volatile hydrocarbon oil can be used as the volatile oil. This is an oil containing hydrogen and carbon atoms, and a volatile oil of the hydrocarbon series such as paraffin or isoparaffin can be used. Specifically, the volatile hydrocarbon oil can be a branched alkane, ester, or a mixture thereof having 8 to 20 carbon atoms. The alkane can be an isoalkane having 8 to 20 carbon atoms and can contain any one or more selected from the group consisting of isodecane, isododecane, and isohexadecane. Desirably, isododecane can be used as the volatile hydrocarbon oil.

[0020] The volatile oil can be 50 to 95% by weight, desirably 60 to 90% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition. By containing the volatile oil in the above content, the components of the thickening agent and the film-forming agent can be effectively dispersed in oil, and the volatile oil dries quickly during use, enabling effective use in dosage forms such as mascara, lip gloss, makeup fixer, or top coat.

[0021] In one embodiment, the cosmetic composition can contain a styrenic hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickening agent and a film-forming agent in a weight ratio of 1:0.1 to 5, desirably 1:0.5 to 3, more desirably 1:1 to 2.5 (styrenic hydrocarbon main-chain polymer thickening agent: film-forming agent). When the cosmetic composition of the present invention contains the two components in the specific weight ratio as described above, a transparent and uniform film formation and an excellent effect of preventing lash curl are significantly exhibited.

[0022] In one embodiment, the cosmetic composition may not substantially contain any one or more selected from the group consisting of wax, pigment, and mineral thickeners, etc. As a result, it has excellent uniformity and transparency in dosage form and can impart a natural makeup effect to the film formed on the eyelashes. Due to the inherent properties of particles, substances such as the wax, pigment, and mineral thickeners (e.g., bentonite) may form a non-uniform surface after application of the composition, which may cause a problem of reduced transparency due to irregular specular reflection of light. Specifically, the cosmetic composition may contain any one or more selected from the group consisting of wax, pigment, and mineral thickeners, etc. in an amount of 5% by weight or less, 4% by weight or less, preferably 3% by weight or less, 2% by weight or less, more preferably 1% by weight or less, most preferably not at all, based on the total weight of the composition.

[0023] The pigment that is not substantially contained in the cosmetic composition means a pigment series of pigments that induces non-uniformity on the surface of the film formed on the eyelashes. In the case of dye-based pigments, it is also desirable not to be substantially contained in order to provide a natural makeup effect. However, if it does not make the surface of the film formed on the eyelashes non-uniform, it may be contained in an appropriate amount within an acceptable range. For example, the dye-based pigment may be contained in an amount of 5% by weight or less, 4% by weight or less, preferably 3% by weight or less, 2% by weight or less, more preferably 1% by weight or less, most preferably not at all, based on the total weight of the composition.

[0024] In one embodiment, after the cosmetic composition is applied and dried on the eyelashes or skin, a transparent film can be formed. Also, the cosmetic composition has a significantly excellent effect of preventing the curl of the eyelashes from drooping over time due to the formed film.

[0025] In one embodiment, after the cosmetic composition is applied and dried, the difference in L value (ΔL) measured with a color difference meter for the formed film can be 2.5 or less, preferably 0.1 - 2.5, more preferably 0.1 - 2. The ΔL value is the sample measurement value (L) - the measurement value of the black paper (L0), and can be measured, for example, using a color difference meter CR-300 manufactured by Konica Minolta.

[0026] In one embodiment, the cosmetic composition can be used in any dosage form selected from the group consisting of mascara, lip gloss, makeup fixer, top coat, and the like. The cosmetic composition of the present invention forms a transparent and uniform film, has excellent makeup fixing power or skin protection effect, and has a remarkably excellent effect of preventing lash curl droop when used in mascara or top coat.

[0027] In one embodiment, the cosmetic composition can further contain one or more components selected from the group consisting of emulsifiers, humectants, preservatives, pH adjusters, penetration aids, stabilizers, surfactants, conditioning agents, skin softeners, appearance improvers, fragrances, sequestering agents, etc., within a range that does not inhibit the object of the present invention, in order to contribute to the production of cosmetic dosage forms.

Advantages of the Invention

[0028] The cosmetic composition of the present invention has a remarkably excellent effect of preventing lash curl droop while maintaining transparency even after being applied to the lashes and dried.

Table 2

[0032] 1. Manufacturing methods of Examples 1, 2 and Comparative Examples 1 - 10 (1) Add a thickening agent and a film-forming agent to isododecane and heat to 80 °C (2) Once the thickening agent has completely melted, disperse for 10 minutes with a disper mixer (3) Cool to 28 °C and defoam 2. Manufacturing method of Comparative Example 11 (1) Add PVA to purified water and heat to 70 °C (2) Disperse with a disper mixer for 10 minutes and cool to 50 °C (3) Slowly add carbomer and disperse for 10 minutes, then add TEA, ethanol and VP / VA copolymer and disperse for 5 minutes (4) Cool to 28 °C and defoam

[0033] Experimental Example 1: Film drying experiment A film drying experiment was conducted using the compositions of the examples and comparative examples by the following experimental method (1) Apply Examples 1, 2 and Comparative Examples 1 - 10 to a glass plate with a thickness of 50 μm in a certain size and dry for 2 hours (2) Place each glass plate on black paper and take a photo (3) Visually check the transparency and uniformity of the generated film The results of the film drying experiment are shown in Figure 1. It was confirmed that transparent and uniform films were formed in Examples 1 and 2, while Comparative Examples 1 - 10 were opaque or translucent, or non-uniform films were formed

[0034] Experimental Example 2: Color difference measurement experiment A color difference measurement experiment was conducted using the compositions of the examples and comparative examples by the following experimental method (1) Using a color difference meter (Color Difference Meter CR-300 manufactured by Konica Minolta), measure the L value of the black paper as the control group (black paper: Form 2A opaque chart manufactured by LENETA). (2) Apply Examples 1 and 2 and Comparative Examples 1 to 10 to a glass plate with a thickness of 50 μm in a certain size, dry for 2 hours, place the sample on the black paper, and measure the L value with a color difference meter. (3) Calculate ΔL by comparing the L value of the black paper as the control group with the L value of the sample. *ΔL=(L - L 0 )(L = sample measurement value, L 0 = black paper measurement value). The smaller the ΔL value, the more it is confirmed that a transparent film was formed. After measuring ΔL three times using a color difference meter, calculate the average value and show it in Table 3 and Figure 2 below. The L of the Form 2A opaque chart manufactured by LENETA used in the experiment 0 was 44.06 (average after three measurements).

Table 3

[0035] For the transparent film, 0 ≦ ΔL < 2.5. For films in this range, it can be judged to be transparent by visual inspection. Also, when 2.5 ≦ ΔL < 6.0, it can be judged to be translucent by visual inspection. When 6 ≦ ΔL, it can be judged to be opaque by visual inspection. In the cases of Examples 1 and 2, it was visually transparent and the measured ΔL was 2.5 or less.

[0036] Experimental Example 3: In vitro curling experiment An in vitro curling measurement experiment was conducted using the compositions of the examples and comparative examples by the following experimental method. (1) Apply Example 1 and Comparative Example 11 to fixed artificial eyelashes with a brush respectively. (2) Immediately after application, take photos 1 hour and 4 hours later, then measure and compare the angle from the root of the curl to the tip of the eyelash (temperature 24 °C, humidity 60%). The measured angles obtained from the experiment are shown in Table 4, and the amount of decrease in the angle relative to the initial value is shown in Table 5 and Figure 3. It was confirmed that when Example 1 was used, the sagging curl was improved compared to Comparative Example 11, which is a common transparent topcoat formulation.

Table 4

Table 5

[0037] Experimental Example 4: In vivo sagging curl experiment (1) After raising the eyelashes of both eyes of the subject with a bleurer, a pre-application photograph was taken. (2) Example 1 was applied to the eyelashes on one side, and Comparative Example 11 was applied to the eyelashes on the other side. (3) Photographs were taken immediately after application, 10 minutes later, 1 hour later, and 4 hours later (experimental conditions: temperature 24°C, humidity 60%). (4) The curl-up angle * was measured from the photographed images (* reference: J.I. Na et al., British Journal of Dermatology, 2006, 155, pp1170 - 1176). The measured angles obtained from the experiment are shown in Table 6 and Figure 4, and the amount of decrease in the angle relative to the initial value is shown in Table 7 and Figure 5. It was confirmed that when Example 1 was used, the sagging curl was improved compared to Comparative Example 11, which is a common transparent topcoat formulation.
