Description

[Technical Field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a clamp attachment device and a clamp attachment method for attaching a cable clamp to the constituent electric wires of a wire harness. [Background technology]

[0002] Conventionally, wire harnesses for use in automobiles and the like are often provided with cable clamps for fixing to attachment locations such as vehicle body panels. Some of these cable clamps have a clamp portion provided at a longitudinal midpoint of a band portion (see, for example, Patent Document 1). In many of these types of cable clamps, the band portion is overlapped with the constituent electric wires of the wire harness so that it extends along the length of the wires, and is fixed by wrapping tape around the wires. [0003] [Patent Document 1] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2010-073328 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0004] In many cases, the tape-wrapping and fixing of the cable clamps to the constituent electric wires of the wire harness is performed manually by an operator. This manual tape-wrapping and fixing of the cable clamps tends to be a burden for the operator, and although automation is desired, the difficulty of the work itself means that no specific proposals for such automation have been made at present.

[0005] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Accordingly, the present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems, and has as its object to provide a clamp attachment device and a clamp attachment method that can automatically attach cable clamps to the constituent electric wires of a wire harness. [Means for solving the problem]

[0006] In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, a clamp installation device is provided with a clamp portion that is attached to a predetermined attachment point at a midpoint in the longitudinal direction of a band plate portion, and a cable clamp that is fixed to a constituent electric wire of a wire harness so that the band plate portion extends along the wire length direction of the constituent electric wire to fix the wire harness to the attachment point, the clamp installation device comprising: a first chuck that holds the cable clamp by clamping it in the width direction of the band plate portion on a first end side of the band plate portion; a chuck moving portion that moves the first chuck that holds the cable clamp to position the cable clamp so that the band plate portion extends along the wire length direction and overlaps it with the constituent electric wire; The cable clamping device is characterized by comprising: a second chuck that clamps and holds the cable clamp and the component electric wires collectively adjacent to the first chuck on the first end side in the overlapping direction; and a tape winding mechanism that winds tape around the second end side of the band plate portion of the cable clamp held by the first chuck, wherein when the first chuck is moved by the chuck moving unit, the tape moves together with the first chuck while remaining wound around the cable clamp, and after the movement, the tape is wound around the cable clamp and the component electric wires held by the second chuck, starting from the winding point of the tape on the band plate portion.

[0007] Further, in order to solve the above-mentioned problems, a clamp installation method uses the above-mentioned clamp installation device and is characterized by comprising: a first chucking step of clamping and holding the first end side of the band plate portion of the cable clamp with the first chuck; a first tape winding step of winding the tape with the tape winding unit around the second end side of the band plate portion of the cable clamp held by the first chuck; a chuck moving step of moving the first chuck holding the cable clamp with the chuck moving unit to overlap the cable clamp on the component electric wires and, when moving the first chuck, moving the tape winding unit together with the first chuck with the tape wound around the cable clamp; a second chucking step of clamping and holding the cable clamp and the component electric wires with the second chuck after movement by the chuck moving unit; and a second tape winding step of winding the tape around the cable clamp and the component electric wires held by the second chuck, starting from the winding point. [Effects of the Invention]

[0008] According to the clamp attachment device and clamp attachment method described above, it is possible to automatically attach a cable clamp to the constituent electric wires of a wire harness. [Brief explanation of the drawings]

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0010] An embodiment of a clamp installation device and a clamp installation method will now be described.

[0011] Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing a clamp installation device according to one embodiment, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the clamp installation device shown in Fig. 1 as seen from the direction of arrow V11 in Fig. 1. Also, Fig. 3 is a diagram showing component electric wires and cable clamps of a wire harness to be processed by the clamp installation device shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

[0012] The clamp installation device 1 of this embodiment is an apparatus used in the manufacture of a wire harness 2 for an automobile, and installs a cable clamp 22 on a component electric wire 21 of the wire harness 2 by winding and fixing the cable clamp 22 on the component electric wire 21. In the example of FIG. 3 , the component electric wire 21 of the wire harness 2 is covered with a corrugated tube 23 as an exterior material except for an area where the cable clamp 22 is installed. The cable clamp 22 is installed on an exposed portion of the component electric wire 21 that is not covered by the corrugated tube 23. The cable clamp 22 is made of resin and has a structure in which a clamp portion 222 that is installed on a predetermined installation destination such as a vehicle body panel is provided at a midpoint in the longitudinal direction D11 of a band plate portion 221. The clamp installation device 1 that installs the cable clamp 22 on the component electric wire 21 includes a first chuck 11, a chuck moving portion 12, a second chuck 13, and a tape winding portion 14.

[0013] The first chuck 11 is a mechanical part that holds the cable clamp 22 by clamping it on the first end 221a side of the band plate portion 221 in the width direction D12 of the band plate portion 221.

[0014] FIG. 4 is a diagram showing the state in which the first chuck holds the cable clamp in the clamp installation device shown in FIGS.

[0015] The first chuck 11 includes a pair of first gripping arms 111 that can open and close in the width direction D12 of the band plate portion 221 of the cable clamp 22 to be held, and a first arm drive unit 112 that drives the pair of first gripping arms 111 to open and close. A pair of clamp receiving recesses 111a corresponding to the width and thickness of the band plate portion 221 are formed in the gripping portions of the pair of first gripping arms 111 for holding the band plate portion 221. When the pair of first gripping arms 111 are closed by the first arm drive unit 112, the band plate portion 221 is sandwiched and held in a state where it is accommodated in the pair of clamp receiving recesses 111a. In the clamp installation device 1, the tape T11 is wound by the tape winding unit 14 around the second end 221b of the cable clamp 22 whose first end 221a side is held by the first chuck 11, as will be described later.

[0016] 1 and 2 is a robot arm having a first chuck 11, a second chuck 13, and a tape winding unit 14 mounted at its tip, and moves these units together. Focusing on the movement of the first chuck 11, the chuck moving unit 12 functions to move the first chuck 11 holding the cable clamp 22. By moving this first chuck 11, the chuck moving unit 12 positions the cable clamp 22 so that the strip portion 221 extends along the wire length direction D13 (FIG. 3), and overlaps it with the component electric wire 21. When this first chuck 11 moves, the second chuck 13 and the tape winding unit 14 also move together.

[0017] The second chuck 13 is a mechanism that clamps and holds the cable clamps 22 and the component electric wires 21 that are stacked on top of each other by the chuck moving part 12 together.

[0018] FIG. 5 is a diagram showing the second chuck in the clamp installation device shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, and FIG. 6 is a diagram showing the second chuck shown in FIG. 5 holding the cable clamp and the component wires.

[0019] The second chuck 13 clamps and holds the stacked cable clamps 22 and component electric wires 21 together in the overlapping direction D14, adjacent to the first chuck 11 at the first end 221a side. The second chuck 13 includes a pair of second gripping arms 131 that can be opened and closed in the overlapping direction D14, and a second arm drive unit 132 that drives the pair of second gripping arms 131 to open and close. Note that in FIG. 2, the second chuck 13 is shown with one of the second gripping arms 131 omitted so that the first chuck 11 arranged adjacent to the second chuck 13 can be seen. A pair of receiving recesses 131a corresponding to the thickness of the bundle of the expected number of component electric wires 21 is formed in the gripping portions of the pair of second gripping arms 131 that grip the cable clamps 22 and component electric wires 21. The corners of the entrance of each receiving recess 131a are chamfered to form a wide-mouthed portion 131b that can receive a thicker object to be grasped, such as a corrugated tube 23 used as an exterior material.

[0020] The tape winding unit 14 shown in Figures 1, 2, and 4 winds tape T11 around the second end 221b side of the strip portion 221 of the cable clamp 22 held by the first chuck 11 as follows.

[0021] FIG. 7 is a schematic diagram showing how the tape winding unit winds tape around the second end of the band plate portion of the cable clamp held by the first chuck.

[0022] 1 and 4, the tape winding unit 14 is a mechanical part that holds the tape reel TR11 and unwinds the tape T11 from the tape reel TR11 to wind the tape. When winding the tape T11 around the second end 221b of the band plate portion 221 of the cable clamp 22 held by the first chuck 11, the unwinding end of the tape T11 unwound from the tape reel TR11 is attached to the second end 221b of the band plate portion 221. Thereafter, the tape winding unit 14 rotates the tape reel TR11 in the circumferential direction D15 of the band plate portion 221, thereby winding the tape T11 around the band plate portion 221 one or more times. When winding of the tape around the band plate portion 221 of the cable clamp 22 is completed, the tape winding unit 14 is moved together with the first chuck 11 by the chuck moving unit 12. That is, when the chuck moving unit 12 moves the first chuck 11 to overlap the cable clamp 22 on the component electric wire 21, the tape winding unit 14 moves together with the first chuck 11 with the tape T11 still wound around the cable clamp 22. Then, at the destination, the tape winding unit 14 winds the tape T11 around the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wire 21.

[0023] FIG. 8 is a schematic diagram showing how the tape winding unit moves together with the first chuck and then winds tape around the cable clamp and the component electric wires.

[0024] At the time of movement of the tape winding unit 14, the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wires 21 are overlapped and held by the second chuck 13, as shown in Fig. 6. At this time, although not shown in Fig. 6, the tape T11 pulled out from the tape reel TR11 is wound around the second end 221b side of the band plate portion 221 of the cable clamp 22. The tape winding unit 14 rotates the tape reel TR11 in the circumferential direction D16 of the component electric wires 21, starting from the winding point of the tape T11 on the second end 221b side, thereby winding the tape T11 around the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wires 21 one or more times. By this tape winding, the second end 221b side of the band plate portion 221 of the cable clamp 22 is fixed to the component electric wires 21. Then, when tape wrapping around the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wires 21 at the second end 221b side is completed, the tape winding unit 14 cuts the tape, and then the chuck moving unit 12 moves the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wires 21 to the first end 221a side of the band plate portion 221. At this time, the first chuck 11, which has released the first end 221a side, and the second chuck 13, which has released the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wires 21, also move together with the tape winding unit 14. At their destination, the second chuck 13 clamps and holds the component electric wires 21 over the corrugated tube 23 in the thickness direction D17 (FIGS. 3 and 6). The tape winding unit 14 then winds the tape T11 around the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wires 21 at the first end 221a side of the band plate portion 221. In this manner, in this embodiment, the cable clamp 22 is fixed to the component electric wires 21 at both ends thereof by wrapping tape at two locations, the second end 221b side and the first end 221a side.

[0025] Next, a clamp installation method for installing the cable clamp 22 on the component electric wires 21 of the wire harness 2 using the clamp installation device 1 of this embodiment will be described below with reference to other drawings, although some of the description will overlap with the above.

[0026] FIG. 9 is a schematic diagram showing a series of steps in the clamp installation method, from holding the cable clamp with a first chuck to winding tape, to placing it over the constituent electric wires of the wire harness and holding it with a second chuck.

[0027] In the clamp installation method using the clamp installation device 1 of this embodiment, first, in a first step S11, the cable clamp 22 is held by the first chuck 11 (first chucking step). That is, the first end 221a side of the band plate portion 221 of the cable clamp 22 is clamped and held by the first chuck 11. In the first step S11, next, the tape T11 is wound by the tape winding unit 14 around the second end 121b side of the band plate portion 221 of the cable clamp 22 held by the first chuck 11 (first tape winding step). This first step S11 is performed at a position away from the component electric wires 21 of the wire harness 2. At this time, the second chuck 13 is in a position away from the component electric wires 21 with the pair of second gripping arms 131 opened.

[0028] In a second step S12 following the first step S11, a chuck moving step is executed in which the first chuck 11 holding the cable clamp 22 is moved by the chuck moving unit 12 to overlap the cable clamp 22 on the component electric wire 21. In the chuck moving step in the second step S12, the tape winding unit 14 with the tape T1 still wound around the cable clamp 22 and the second chuck 13 with the pair of second gripping arms 131 in an open state are carried together with the first chuck 11.

[0029] In the next third step S13, after movement by the chuck moving unit 12, the pair of second gripping arms 131 of the second chuck 13 are closed to clamp and hold the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wires 21 (second chucking step). In this third step S13, the first chuck 11 still holds the cable clamp 22. Also, the tape T1 from the tape winding unit 14 remains wound around the cable clamp 22.

[0030] FIG. 10 is a schematic diagram showing a series of steps that are executed following the third step in FIG. 9 up to the point where tape is wrapped around the cable clamp and the component electric wires.

[0031] 9, in a fourth step S14, the pair of second gripping arms 131 of the second chuck 13 are closed to hold the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wires 21, and the pair of first gripping arms 111 of the first chuck 11 are opened. This operation of the first gripping arms 111 releases the cable clamp 22 from the first chuck 11. Thereafter, in a fifth step S15, the tape T11 is wound by the tape winding unit 14 around the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wires 21 held by the second chuck 13 (a second tape winding step). The tape winding in this fifth step S15 is performed starting from a winding position P11 on the second end 221b side of the cable clamp 22. This tape winding fixes the cable clamp 22 to the component electric wires 21 on the second end 221b side. In this embodiment, following this fifth step S15, the cable clamp 22 is also fixed on the first end 221a side by wrapping tape.

[0032] FIG. 11 is a schematic diagram showing a series of steps that are carried out following the fifth step of FIG. 10, up to the point where the first end of the cable clamp is also fixed by wrapping tape.

[0033] In a sixth step S16 following the fifth step S15 in FIG. 10 , first, the tape winding unit 14 cuts the tape T11 after the tape winding is completed. Furthermore, the pair of second gripping arms 131 in the second chuck 13 is opened to release the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wires 21. Next, the second chuck 13 in the open state is moved by the chuck moving unit 12 in the movement direction D13 together with the first chuck 11 in the already open state and the tape winding unit 14 after the tape cutting to a separated position P12 away from the cable clamp 22. Furthermore, by being moved together with the second chuck 13, the first chuck 11 in the open state retreats to a retreat position P13 where it does not interfere with subsequent processing. Here, the separated position P12, to which the second chuck 13 is moved, is a position where the tape winding unit 14, which is being transported together with the second chuck 13, can wind the tape on the first end 221a side of the cable clamp 22. When the tape winding unit 14 is positioned at this position, the tape winding unit 14 pulls out the tape T11 from the tape reel TR11 and attaches the pulled-out end to the first end 221a side of the cable clamp 22 in preparation for subsequent tape winding. In this example, the portion of the component electric wire 21 adjacent to the attachment position of the cable clamp 22 is covered with the corrugated tube 23, and the separated position P12 is a position where this corrugated tube 23 is clamped by the pair of second gripping arms 131.

[0034] In the next seventh step S17, the pair of second gripping arms 131 are closed at the separated position P12, and a third chucking step is executed in which the second chuck 13 holds the component electric wire 21 through the corrugated tube 23. Then, as this holding ends, a third tape winding step is executed in which the tape winding unit 14 winds the tape T11 around the first end 221a side of the cable clamp 22, and fixes the cable clamp 22 to the component electric wire 21 on the first end 221a side.

[0035] After the three tape wrapping steps in seventh step S17 are completed, in the subsequent eighth step S18, the tape winding unit 14 cuts the tape again. Furthermore, the pair of second gripping arms 131 are opened, and the second chuck 13 releases the corrugated tube 23, i.e., the component electric wire 21. With the tape cutting and release of the component electric wire 21 in this eighth step S18, a series of processes in the clamp attachment method is completed, and attachment of the component electric wire 21 to the cable clamp 22 by wrapping tape around both ends thereof is completed.

[0036] The clamp installation device 1 and clamp installation method according to the embodiment described above can achieve the following effects. That is, in this embodiment, after the cable clamp 22 is held by the first chuck 11, the tape T11 is wrapped around the cable clamp 22. Next, the first chuck 11 and the tape winding unit 14 are moved to align the cable clamp 22 with the constituent electric wires 21 of the wire harness 2, and the aligned constituent electric wires 21 and the cable clamp 22 are clamped and held together by the second chuck 13. Then, by using the winding position P11 of the tape T11 around the cable clamp 22 as the starting point, operational difficulties such as instability of the tape T11 when the cable clamp 22 is wound and fixed around the constituent electric wires 21 are eliminated. By eliminating this difficulty, the cable clamp 22 is fixed to the constituent electric wires 21 with a stable tape wrap. As such, according to this embodiment, operational difficulties associated with automation are eliminated, and the cable clamp 22 can be automatically attached to the constituent electric wires 21 of the wire harness 2.

[0037] In this embodiment, the tape winding unit 14 holds the tape reel TR11 and winds the tape T11 by pulling it out from the tape reel TR11. This configuration allows the tape winding unit 14 to hold a longer tape T11 while reducing the storage space required, compared to when the tape T11 is held in a long strip shape and used for winding.

[0038] In this embodiment, the first chuck 11 releases the cable clamp 22 after it has been held by the second chuck 13. When tape winding starting from the winding point P11 is completed, the second chuck 13 releases the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wire 21 and is moved to the separated position P12 to hold the component electric wire 21. The chuck moving unit 12 retracts the released first chuck 11 to a predetermined retracted position P13 and moves the released second chuck 13 to the separated position P12. Then, when the component electric wire 21 is held by the second chuck 13 at the separated position P12, the tape winding unit 14 then winds the tape T11 around the cable clamp 22 and the component electric wire 21 on the first end 221a side. With this configuration, tape winding is performed on both ends of the band plate portion 221 of the cable clamp 22, thereby improving the attachment strength of the cable clamp 22 to the component electric wire 21.

[0039] In this embodiment, the component electric wire 21 is at least partially covered with an exterior material such as a corrugated tube 23, and the second chuck 13 opens and closes so as to be able to hold the component electric wire 21 through this exterior material. This configuration improves the degree of freedom in holding by the second chuck 13, and therefore can effectively accommodate various gripping locations on the component electric wire 21, which have different thicknesses depending on whether or not an exterior material is present. In addition, the cable clamp 22 can effectively accommodate attachment to multiple types of component electric wires, which have different thicknesses depending on whether or not an exterior material is present.

[0040] The above-described embodiments merely show typical examples of the clamp installation device and clamp installation method, and the clamp installation device and clamp installation method are not limited to these and can be implemented in various modifications.

[0041] For example, in the above-described embodiment, the clamp installation device 1 and the clamp installation method for attaching the cable clamp 22 to the constituent electric wires 21 of the wire harness 2 for an automobile are exemplified as an example of the clamp installation device and the clamp installation method. However, the clamp installation device and the clamp installation method are not limited to this. As long as the clamp installation device and the clamp installation method attach a cable clamp to the constituent electric wires of the wire harness, the wire harness to which the cable clamp is attached does not have to be for an automobile, and the specific form is not important.

[0042] In the above-described embodiment, an example of the chuck moving unit is the chuck moving unit 12, which is a robot arm having the first chuck 11, the second chuck 13, and the tape winding unit 14 mounted at its tip and which moves these units together. However, the chuck moving unit is not limited to this. The chuck moving unit may move only the first chuck as long as it moves the first chuck to overlap the cable clamp on the component electric wire. Alternatively, the chuck moving unit may move either the second chuck or the tape winding unit together with the first chuck. In these cases, another moving unit may be provided for the units not moved by the chuck moving unit. In addition, the chuck moving unit is not limited to a robot arm, and any specific configuration may be adopted for its mechanism.

[0043] In the above-described embodiment, the tape winding unit 14 that holds the tape reel TR11 and unwinds the tape T11 from the tape reel TR11 is exemplified as an example of a tape winding unit. However, the tape winding unit is not limited to this, and may be, for example, a unit that holds the tape in a long strip shape and is used for winding the tape. However, as described above, the tape winding unit 14 that holds the tape reel TR11 can hold the tape T11 while minimizing the storage space required for the tape T11.

[0044] Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, as an example of a clamp installation device and a clamp installation method, the clamp installation device 1 and the clamp installation method are exemplified, in which tape is wrapped around both ends of the cable clamp 22. However, the clamp installation device and the clamp installation method are not limited to this, and tape may be wrapped only around the first end of the cable clamp. However, as described above, wrapping tape around both ends of the cable clamp 22 can improve the attachment strength of the cable clamp 22 to the component electric wires 21.

[0045] In addition, in this embodiment, as an example of the second chuck, the second chuck 13 that opens and closes so as to be able to hold the component electric wire 21 through an exterior material such as a corrugated tube 23 is exemplified. However, the second chuck is not limited to this, and may have an opening and closing structure that is limited to directly holding the component electric wire. However, as described above, the second chuck 13 that can hold the component electric wire 21 through an exterior material can effectively deal with the presence or absence of an exterior material that affects the gripping thickness of the component electric wire 21.
