Abstract
Description
[Technical Field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a belt sander. [Background technology]
[0002] Belt sanders are known as tools for polishing woodworking products and metal products. There are various types of belt sanders, one of which is a belt sander with an arm. This type of belt sander includes a gripping portion for a user to hold, a drive roller driven to rotate by a motor, an arm, a driven roller provided at the tip of the arm, and an endless sanding belt stretched between the drive roller and the driven roller. The endless sanding belt rotating between the drive roller and the driven roller is brought into contact with the workpiece to be polished, thereby polishing the workpiece.
[0003] In this type of belt sander, the outside of the drive roller in the direction in which its rotation axis extends (hereinafter referred to as the axial direction) is covered with a cover (generally referred to as a safety cover) in accordance with safety standards. For example, Patent Document 1 listed below discloses a belt sander that, in addition to the safety cover, also includes a cover (generally referred to as a pulley cover) that surrounds the drive roller and a portion of the sanding belt in a generally U-shape along the direction of rotation of the sanding belt. In this belt sander, a generally U-shaped gap that opens in the axial direction is secured between the safety cover and the pulley cover. When the sanding belt wears out, the user can use this gap to easily replace the sanding belt. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]
[0004] [Patent Document 1] JP 2002-233942 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0005] However, in the belt sander described in Patent Document 1, dust generated by sanding with the sanding belt disperses outside the belt sander through the gap, which may worsen the working environment. Therefore, it is desirable to suppress the dispersion of dust without reducing the workability when replacing the sanding belt. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] According to one aspect of the present invention, a removable dust cover for a belt sander is provided. The removable dust cover includes a cover body. The cover body has a plate-shaped portion extending in a first direction and a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The removable dust cover further includes a first elastic portion and a second elastic portion. The first elastic portion and the second elastic portion are spaced apart from each other in the first direction and, when viewed in the first direction, are located on the same side of the plate-shaped portion in a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions. The first elastic portion is elastically deformable in a direction from the second elastic portion to the first elastic portion in the first direction, and the second elastic portion is elastically deformable in a direction from the first elastic portion to the second elastic portion in the first direction.
[0007] This removable dust cover can be used with, for example, a belt sander including a motor, a drive roller configured to rotate about a rotation axis by the driving force of the motor, an arm, a driven roller, an endless sanding belt stretched between the drive roller and the driven roller, and a first cover that surrounds the drive roller and a portion of the sanding belt in a generally U-shaped manner along the rotation direction of the sanding belt. Specifically, the removable dust cover can be attached to the belt sander so that the arm extends in a second direction, the rotation axis extends in a third direction, and the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion sandwich the first cover. When the removable dust cover is attached to the belt sander in this manner, the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion are pressed by the first cover and elastically deform, and the positional relationship between the cover body and the first cover is maintained by the restoring force of the elastic deformation. This type of detachable dust cover can tightly cover the periphery of the drive roller, thereby suppressing dust dispersion. Furthermore, since this detachable dust cover can be easily attached and detached by utilizing the elastic deformation of the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion, it can be removed without using tools when replacing the sanding belt. Therefore, the workability when replacing the sanding belt is not reduced. The aforementioned "approximately U-shaped" refers to a shape having a first linear portion, a second linear portion, and a portion (which may be arc-shaped or linear) connecting the first and second linear portions, and the first and second linear portions may have different lengths.
[0008] According to one aspect of the present invention, the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion may be disposed at the same position in the second direction. According to this aspect, when the detachable dust cover is attached, the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion can press the first cover in opposite directions at the same position in the second direction due to the restoring force of their elastic deformation. Therefore, no restoring force acts in the direction in which the cover body rotates, thereby stably maintaining the positional relationship between the cover body and the first cover. Furthermore, even if an error occurs in the dimensional relationship between the cover body and the first cover, the error can be absorbed by the elastic deformation of the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion. Therefore, the dimensional precision required for the cover body and the first cover can be reduced.
[0009] According to one aspect of the present invention, the detachable dust cover may include a first holding portion that detachably holds the first elastic portion and a second holding portion that detachably holds the second elastic portion. According to this aspect, if the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion deteriorate or are damaged, the detachable dust cover can be continued to be used by simply replacing the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion. This improves user convenience.
[0010] According to one aspect of the present invention, each of the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion may be a rubber pin. This allows the detachable dust cover to be manufactured inexpensively and easily using a rubber pin, which is an inexpensive, general-purpose item. Furthermore, since rubber pins are readily available, this improves user convenience when replacement is required.
[0011] According to one aspect of the present invention, each of the first and second holding portions may have a groove for holding the rubber pin in a partially fitted state. According to this aspect, the rubber pin can be attached and detached with a simple structure.
[0012] According to one aspect of the present invention, the groove may be closed on one side in the direction in which the groove extends and open on the other side. According to this aspect, the rubber pin can be easily positioned by arranging it so that it abuts against the closed portion on one side. This aspect is particularly effective when the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion are arranged at the same position in the second direction.
[0013] According to one aspect of the present invention, the cover body may include a peripheral wall portion extending in a third direction from the outer edge of the plate-shaped portion. The peripheral wall portion may be located on the same side of the plate-shaped portion as the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion in the third direction. The detachable dust cover of this aspect can be attached to the belt sander so that the peripheral wall portion covers the outer edge of the first cover from the outside. This aspect can further suppress the dispersion of dust. In addition, when attaching the detachable dust cover, it is easy to align the first cover and the detachable dust cover.
[0014] According to one aspect of the present invention, a detachable dust cover for a belt sander is provided, which includes a cover body. The detachable dust cover includes a first elastic portion and a second elastic portion. When the cover body is positioned so that the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion sandwich a portion of the belt sander, the first elastic portion and the second elastic portion are pressed and elastically deformed by the portion of the belt sander, and the restoring force of the elastic deformation maintains the positional relationship between the cover body and the portion of the belt sander. This detachable dust cover also achieves the above-mentioned effects.
[0015] According to one aspect of the present invention, there may be provided a belt sander including the detachable dust cover of any of the above aspects.
[0016] According to one aspect of the present invention, the belt sander may include a second cover in addition to the first cover. The second cover may be disposed substantially perpendicular to the rotation axis and cover the drive roller. A gap may be formed between the first cover and the second cover along the outer edge of the second cover when viewed in a third direction (in other words, the direction in which the rotation axis extends). The detachable dust cover may be disposed so as to cover the second cover and the gap when attached to the belt sander. According to this aspect, when the detachable dust cover is removed, the sanding belt can be replaced through the gap between the first cover and the second cover. Furthermore, when the detachable dust cover is attached, the detachable dust cover covers the second cover and the gap, thereby preventing dust from escaping through the gap.
[0017] According to one aspect of the present invention, the first cover may include a protruding portion that protrudes on a side opposite the sanding belt. The cover body may include a positioning portion that is adjacent to the protruding portion in the second direction and extends in the third direction to a position that overlaps with the protruding portion as viewed in the second direction when the removable dust cover is attached to the belt sander. According to this aspect, when the removable dust cover is attached, the protruding portion of the first cover is aligned with the positioning portion of the removable dust cover, thereby facilitating alignment of the first cover and the removable dust cover. [Brief explanation of the drawings]

[Figure 8] 1 is a plan view, partially in cross section, of a belt sander with a removable dust cover attached; FIG. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0019] The schematic configuration of a belt sander 10 according to one embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the belt sander 10 includes a handle housing 20, an arm 41, a driven roller 42, a drive roller 43 (see FIG. 3), a sanding belt 44, and an electric motor 50 (see FIG. 3). The handle housing 20 has an elongated shape extending in a predetermined direction. The handle housing 20 is provided to be held by a user when using the belt sander 10. The arm 41 has an elongated rod shape extending in a predetermined direction. In the state shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the arm 41 extends in substantially the same direction as the handle housing 20. However, in this embodiment, the arm 41 is configured to be pivotable relative to the handle housing 20 (details will be described later). In the following description, unless otherwise specified, the positional relationship and orientation of the components of the belt sander 10 will be described assuming that the arm 41 is in the pivot position shown in FIGS. 1 to 3.
[0020] As shown in Fig. 3, a drive roller 43 is coupled to a motor shaft 51 of the electric motor 50. Therefore, the drive roller 43 is configured to be rotatable about a rotation axis 52 by the rotational driving force of the electric motor 50. A driven roller 42 is rotatably provided at the tip of the arm 41. An endless sanding belt 44 is stretched between the driven roller 42 and the drive roller 43. When the electric motor 50 is driven, the sanding belt 44 rotates in the direction of arrow A1 (see Figs. 1 and 2) between the driven roller 42 and the drive roller 43.
[0021] In the following description, for convenience, when the handle housing 20 and the arm 41 are substantially aligned (i.e., the state shown in FIGS. 1 to 3), the side on which the sanding belt 44 moves from the drive roller 43 toward the driven roller 42 as the drive roller 43 rotates is defined as the upper side, and the side on which the sanding belt 44 moves from the driven roller 42 toward the drive roller 43 is defined as the lower side (see FIGS. 1 and 2). Furthermore, the direction in which the handle housing 20 extends is defined as the front-to-rear direction. In the front-to-rear direction, the side on which the electric motor 50 is located relative to the handle housing 20 is defined as the front side, and the side on the opposite side of the handle housing 20 from the electric motor 50 is defined as the rear side (see FIG. 3). Furthermore, the direction in which the rotation axis 52 extends is defined as the left-to-right direction. In the left-to-right direction, the side on which the electric motor 50 is located is defined as the left side, and the side on which the drive roller 43 is located is defined as the right side (see FIG. 3).
[0022] As shown in Figures 1 and 3, a controller housing 21 is connected to the rear end of the handle housing 20. A controller (not shown) that controls the power supply to the electric motor 50 is housed inside the controller housing 21. A battery mounting section 30 is provided at the rear end of the controller housing 21. The battery mounting section 30 is configured to slideably receive a battery 35 that serves as a power source for the electric motor 50.
[0023] A trigger-type operating member 25 is provided on the front and lower side of the handle housing 20. When a user pulls the operating member 25, a predetermined signal is sent to the controller from a switch box (not shown) housed in the handle housing 20. Upon receiving this signal, the controller supplies power from the battery 35 to the electric motor 50 to drive the electric motor 50. This drives the drive roller 43, causing the sanding belt 44 to rotate between the driven roller 42 and the drive roller 43.
[0024] As shown in Figure 3, the electric motor 50 is accommodated in a motor housing 22. The motor housing 22 is located in front of the handle housing 20. The motor housing 22 has a cylindrical shape with a closed bottom and a closed left side. The right side of the motor housing 22 is closed by a bracket 23. A flange 60 is disposed on the right surface of the bracket 23.
[0025] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 , the flange 60 extends in a direction perpendicular to the rotation axis 52 and has a generally sector shape when viewed in the left-right direction. An arc-shaped elongated hole 61 is formed in the flange 60 and is centered on the rotation axis 52. The elongated hole 61 penetrates the flange 60 in the left-right direction. A boss (not shown) protruding to the right from the bracket 23 penetrates the elongated hole 61, and a hexagonal bolt of a lock lever 62 is screwed into this boss. When the lock lever 62 is tightened, the flange 60 is pressed toward the bracket 23, and the positional relationship between the flange 60 and the bracket 23 is fixed. When the lock lever 62 is loosened, the flange 60 can pivot about the rotation axis 52 within the angular range defined by the elongated hole 61.
[0026] As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the belt sander 10 further includes a first cover 70. The first cover 70 is molded integrally with the flange 60. The first cover 70 extends forward from a radially inner portion of the flange 60. An arm holder 45 that holds the arm 41 by clamping it in the left-right direction is disposed within the first cover 70. Therefore, when the flange 60 is pivoted, the first cover 70, which is molded integrally with the flange 60, also pivots integrally, and consequently the arm 41 also pivots integrally.
[0027] As shown in FIG. 1 , the first cover 70 is closed at its top, bottom, left side, and rear side, and open at its right side and front side. The first cover 70 has an upper surface 71, a lower surface 72, and a curved surface 73. The upper surface 71 and the lower surface 72 each have an elongated shape extending in the front-to-rear direction substantially parallel to the sanding belt 44. The curved surface 73 extends from the radially inner edge of the flange 60 toward the right and is formed in an arc shape along the edge. The curved surface 73 connects the upper surface 71 and the lower surface 72 in the vertical direction. The upper surface 71, the lower surface 72, and the curved surface 73 of the first cover 70 surround the drive roller 43 and a portion of the sanding belt 44 (more specifically, approximately the rear half of the sanding belt 44) in a substantially U-shaped configuration. The first cover 70 is also commonly referred to as a pulley cover. In this embodiment, the length of the upper surface 71 in the front-rear direction is the same as the length of the lower surface 72 in the front-rear direction, but these may be different from each other. For example, the length of the lower surface 72 in the front-rear direction may be smaller than the length of the upper surface 71 in the front-rear direction.
[0028] As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 , the right side of the drive roller 43 is covered by a flat second cover 80 arranged approximately perpendicular to the rotation axis 52. The second cover 80 is attached to the first cover 70 by threading a bolt 81 into a boss formed on the first cover 70. The second cover 80 has a shape that follows the inner edge of the first cover 70 when viewed in the left-right direction. A gap that is approximately U-shaped when viewed in the left-right direction is formed between the first cover 70 and the second cover 80. Gaps are also formed between the first cover 70 and the arm holder 45, which is located in front of the second cover 80 and extends in the front-rear direction, above and below the arm holder 45 along the front-rear direction. The second cover 80 is provided to prevent the user's clothing from getting caught between the drive roller 43 and the sanding belt 44, and is generally also referred to as a safety cover.
[0029] 3, the first cover 70 further houses a tensioner 46 and a compression spring 47. The compression spring 47 biases the arm 41 forward via the tensioner 46. This maintains an appropriate tension on the sanding belt 44 between the driven roller 42 and the drive roller 43.
[0030] When the sanding belt 44 becomes worn, it can be replaced as follows. First, the user pivots the cam lever 48, located at the front end of the upper surface 71, counterclockwise. This causes a cam mechanism (not shown) linked to the cam lever 48 to displace the tensioner 46 rearward against the biasing force of the compression spring 47. As a result, the tension of the sanding belt 44 is released, allowing the sanding belt 44 to be removed from the gap between the first cover 70 and the second cover 80 and arm holder 45. Then, a new sanding belt 44 is looped between the driven roller 42 and the drive roller 43 through the gap, and the cam lever 48 is returned to its original position, thereby ensuring the appropriate tension of the sanding belt 44 again.
[0031] 1 and 2, a protrusion 76 is formed on the upper surface 71 of the first cover 70. The protrusion 76 is located near the tip of the upper surface 71 and behind the cam lever 48, and protrudes upward (in other words, toward the opposite side from the sanding belt 44).
[0032] 1 and 2, a dust collection nozzle 75 is provided on the first cover 70. The inside of the dust collection nozzle 75 communicates with the internal space of the first cover 70. A hose (not shown) that is connected to a dust collector (not shown) can be attached to the dust collection nozzle 75.
[0033] A detachable dust cover 100 (hereinafter simply referred to as the dust cover 100) can be attached to the above-described belt sander 10. The dust cover 100 will be described below with reference to Figs. 4 to 8. The direction indicated in Fig. 4 showing the dust cover 100 indicates the direction when the dust cover 100 is attached to the belt sander 10. As shown in Fig. 4, the dust cover 100 includes a cover body 110. The cover body 110 includes a plate-shaped portion 120 and a peripheral wall portion 130.
[0034] As shown in FIG. 4, the plate-shaped portion 120 extends in the up-down direction and the front-rear direction when the dust cover 100 is attached to the belt sander 10 (hereinafter simply referred to as the attached state). The plate-shaped portion 120 has an elongated shape with the front-rear direction as its longitudinal direction, and is formed slightly larger than the first cover 70 when viewed in the left-right direction. The rear end of the plate-shaped portion 120 has a shape that follows the curved surface 73 of the first cover 70. A recess 121 is formed on the left surface of the plate-shaped portion 120 near the rear end, extending in an elliptical shape with the front-rear direction as its longitudinal direction. The recess 121 is provided to avoid interference between the plate-shaped portion 120 and the bolt 81 when the dust cover 100 is attached so as to cover the first cover 70 from the right side as shown by arrow A2 in FIG. 5.
[0035] As shown in FIG. 4 , the peripheral wall portion 130 extends leftward from the outer edge of the plate-shaped portion 120 (in other words, in a direction perpendicular to the extending direction of the plate-shaped portion 120). The peripheral wall portion 130 is formed over the entire upper, rear, and lower sides of the outer edge of the plate-shaped portion 120, but is not formed on the front side. The peripheral wall portion 130 has notches 131, 132, and 133 cut from the tip of the peripheral wall portion 130 toward the base end (in other words, toward the outer edge of the plate-shaped portion 120). The notch 131 is provided to avoid interference between the peripheral wall portion 130 and the dust collection nozzle 75 in the attached state. Similarly, the notch 132 is provided to avoid interference between the peripheral wall portion 130 and the protruding portion 76 in the attached state, and the notch 133 is provided to avoid interference between the peripheral wall portion 130 and the cam lever 48 in the attached state.
[0036] As shown in FIG. 4, the dust cover 100 further includes a first holding portion 140a and a second holding portion 140b. The first holding portion 140a and the second holding portion 140b detachably hold a first elastic portion 150a and a second elastic portion 150b, respectively, which will be described later. The first holding portion 140a and the second holding portion 140b are spaced apart in the vertical direction. Furthermore, the first holding portion 140a and the second holding portion 140b are located on the same side (specifically, the left side) of the plate-like portion 120 in the horizontal direction when viewed in the vertical direction. More specifically, the first holding portion 140a is formed to protrude upward and leftward from the upper peripheral wall portion 130, and the second holding portion 140b is formed to protrude downward and leftward from the lower peripheral wall portion 130. In this embodiment, the first holding portion 140a and the second holding portion 140b are integrally molded with the cover body 110. In addition, in this embodiment, the first holding portion 140a and the second holding portion 140b are disposed at the same position in the front-rear direction (approximately the center in the front-rear direction in this embodiment). As a result, the first holding portion 140a and the second holding portion 140b face each other in the up-down direction.
[0037] As shown in FIG. 4, a groove 145a is formed in the inner portion (i.e., the lower portion) of the first holding portion 140a. The groove 145a has a semicircular cross section. In this embodiment, the groove 145a is a bottomed groove that is open on one side in the front-rear direction (i.e., the direction in which the groove 145a extends) and closed on the other side. More specifically, the groove 145a extends from the rear end of the first holding portion 140a toward the front side and terminates without reaching the front end of the first holding portion 140a. Similarly, a groove 145b is formed in the inner portion (i.e., the upper portion) of the second holding portion 140b. The groove 145b has the same shape and size as the groove 145a.
[0038] The first elastic portion 150a is disposed in the groove 145a of the first holding portion 140a, and the second elastic portion 150b is disposed in the groove 145b of the second holding portion 140b. In this embodiment, the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b are each a rubber pin. A rubber pin is a cylindrical member made of rubber and is a general-purpose part commonly used in power tools. The first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b are respectively held in a partially fitted state in the grooves 145a and 145b. In other words, the first elastic portion 150a is held in a state where a portion in the circumferential direction is fitted in the groove 145a and the remaining portion is exposed. Similarly, the second elastic portion 150b is held in a state where a portion in the circumferential direction is fitted in the groove 145b and the remaining portion is exposed. More specifically, the first elastic portion 150a is disposed so as to partially protrude from the lower surface 141a of the first holding portion 140a when viewed in the front-rear direction. Similarly, the second elastic portion 150b is disposed so as to partially protrude from the upper surface 141b of the first elastic portion 150a when viewed in the front-rear direction. The grooves 145a and 145b allow the rubber pin to be held with a simple structure.
[0039] Due to the positions of the first holding portion 140a and the second holding portion 140b that hold the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b, the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b are also spaced apart in the vertical direction and are located on the same side (specifically, the left side) of the plate-like portion 120 in the left-right direction when viewed in the vertical direction. The first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b are also located at the same position in the front-rear direction. Because the grooves 145a and 145b are bottomed grooves, the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b can be easily located at the same position in the front-rear direction by arranging the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b so that they abut against the bottoms of the grooves (see FIG. 4).
[0040] The first elastic portion 150a arranged in this manner is elastically deformable upward (in other words, in the direction from the second elastic portion 150b to the first elastic portion 150a). Similarly, the second elastic portion 150b is elastically deformable downward (in other words, in the direction from the first elastic portion 150a to the second elastic portion 150b).
[0041] 4, the dust cover 100 further includes a positioning portion 134. The positioning portion 134 extends leftward from the upper peripheral wall portion 130. In this embodiment, the positioning portion 134 is located in front of the first holding portion 140a and is continuous with the first holding portion 140a in the front-to-rear direction.
[0042] The above-described dust cover 100 can be attached to the first cover 70 of the belt sander 10 in an orientation in which the first holding portion 140a protrudes upward and to the left, and the second holding portion 140b protrudes downward and to the left, as shown by arrow A2 in Fig. 5. Specifically, as shown in Figs. 6 to 8, the dust cover 100 is positioned so that the peripheral wall portion 130 of the detachable dust cover 100 surrounds the outer edge of the right side of the first cover 70. At this time, the first elastic portion 150a held by the first holding portion 140a abuts against the flat portion of the upper surface 71 of the first cover 70, and the second elastic portion 150b held by the second holding portion 140b abuts against the flat portion of the lower surface 72 of the first cover 70. In other words, the dust cover 100 is disposed such that the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b sandwich the first cover 70 in the vertical direction. At this time, the portion of the first elastic portion 150a protruding from the groove 145a is pressed by the upper surface 71, and the first elastic portion 150a elastically deforms upward. As a result, the restoring force of the first elastic portion 150a acts downward on the upper surface 71. Meanwhile, the portion of the second elastic portion 150b protruding from the groove 145b is pressed by the lower surface 72, and the second elastic portion 150b elastically deforms downward. As a result, the restoring force of the second elastic portion 150b acts upward on the lower surface 72. In other words, the restoring forces of the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b act to sandwich the first cover 70 in the vertical direction, thereby maintaining the positional relationship between the first cover 70 and the dust cover 100. Dust cover 100 thus attached can be removed by pulling it in the opposite direction to that used when attaching it (that is, the opposite direction to arrow A2 shown in FIG. 5).
[0043] When attaching the dust cover 100 in this manner, the positioning portion 134 of the dust cover 100 can be used to easily align the dust cover 100 with the first cover 70. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 6 , the positioning portion 134 is disposed in a position adjacent to the protrusion 76 of the first cover 70 in the front-to-rear direction when attached. Furthermore, in the attached state, the positioning portion 134 extends to the left to a position overlapping with the protrusion 76 when viewed in the front-to-rear direction. Therefore, by positioning the dust cover 100 relative to the first cover 70 so that the front end of the positioning portion 134 abuts the rear end of the protrusion 76, the dust cover 100 is automatically attached to the first cover 70 in the appropriate position.
[0044] According to the above-described dust cover 100, when attached to the first cover 70, the plate-shaped portion 120 can cover the gap between the first cover 70 and the second cover 80 and the gap between the first cover 70 and the arm holder 45. This prevents dust from escaping from the inside to the outside of the first cover 70 and efficiently guides the dust to the dust collection nozzle 75. Furthermore, when the sanding belt 44 needs to be replaced, simply remove the dust cover 100 and the plate-shaped portion 120 can access the gap between the first cover 70 and the second cover 80 and the gap between the first cover 70 and the arm holder 45, allowing the sanding belt 44 to be replaced as usual. The dust cover 100 can be easily removed without using tools, so the workability of replacing the sanding belt 44 is not impaired.
[0045] Furthermore, according to the dust cover 100, the peripheral wall portion 130 extending approximately parallel to the upper surface 71, lower surface 72 and curved surface 73 of the first cover 70 covers the outer edge portion of the right side of the first cover 70 from the outside, thereby further suppressing the dispersion of dust.
[0046] Furthermore, according to the dust cover 100, the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b are positioned at the same position in the front-to-rear direction. Therefore, in the attached state, the restoring forces of the elastic deformation of the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b press the first cover 70 in opposite directions at the same position in the front-to-rear direction. Therefore, no restoring force acts in the direction of rotation of the cover body 110 of the dust cover 100, thereby stably maintaining the positional relationship between the cover body 110 and the first cover 70. Furthermore, even if an error occurs in the dimensional relationship between the cover body 110 and the first cover 70, that error can be absorbed by the elastic deformation of the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b. Therefore, the dimensional accuracy required for the cover body 110 and the first cover 70 can be reduced.
[0047] Furthermore, according to the dust cover 100, the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b are detachably held by the first holding portion 140a and the second holding portion 140b, respectively. Therefore, if the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b deteriorate or become damaged, the dust cover 100 can be continued by simply replacing the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b. In other words, it is not necessary to replace the entire dust cover 100. This improves user convenience. Moreover, because the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b are rubber pins, they are easily available.
[0048] Although the embodiments of the present invention have been described above, the above-described embodiments are intended to facilitate understanding of the present invention and are not intended to limit the present invention. The present invention may be modified or improved without departing from its spirit, and the present invention includes equivalents thereof. Furthermore, any combination or omission of the elements described in the claims and specification of the utility model registration is possible within the scope that can solve at least part of the above-described problems or achieve at least part of the effects.
[0049] For example, instead of rubber pins, any elastic member may be used as the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b. The first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b may be, for example, a resin spring, a leaf spring, or the like.
[0050] Furthermore, the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b may be disposed at different positions in the front-rear direction. The first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b may be disposed at any positions depending on the position of the flat portion of the first cover 70, as long as they can sandwich the first cover 70 in the up-down direction.
[0051] Furthermore, dust cover 100 may include non-detachable elastic portions (i.e., elastic portions integrated with cover body 110) instead of detachable first elastic portion 150a and second elastic portion 150b. For example, dust cover 100 may include a pair of flexible arms that can bend in the vertical direction when attached. In this case, dust cover 100 is fixed to first cover 70 by sandwiching first cover 70 between the pair of flexible arms in a state where they are bent in directions away from each other.
[0052] Furthermore, the number of at least one of the first elastic portion 150a and the second elastic portion 150b is not limited to one, but may be any number equal to or greater than two.
[0053] Additionally, the peripheral wall portion 130 may be omitted.
[0054] Furthermore, the belt sander 10 does not have to be equipped with the dust collection nozzle 75. Even in this case, the dust cover 100 can prevent dust from being dispersed toward the user who grips the handle housing 20.
[0055] Furthermore, the belt sander 10 may be provided with a power cord for connecting to an AC power source instead of the battery 35. Alternatively, instead of the electric motor 50, an air motor may be used that drives the drive roller 43 using compressed air supplied from an external source as a drive source.
