DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0020] Hereinafter, embodiments of a fishing rod according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Components common to multiple drawings are designated by the same reference numerals throughout the multiple drawings. Please note that the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale for the sake of convenience.

[0021] Figure 1 is a diagram showing one embodiment of a fishing rod according to the present invention. As shown in the figure, a fishing rod 1 according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises a rod body 2, a reel 6 attached to the rod body 2 via a reel leg fixing member 9 (also called a reel seat, but referred to as a reel leg fixing member in this specification) which will be described later, and a fishing line guide 10 attached to the rod body 2. In the embodiment shown in the figure, the reel leg fixing member 9 and the fishing line guide 10 each correspond to attachment parts attached to the outer circumferential surface of the rod body.

[0022] The rod body 2 is constructed by connecting, for example, a butt rod 3, a middle rod 5, and a tip rod 7. These rod bodies are joined, for example, using a straight joint. The butt rod 3, middle rod 5, and tip rod 7 can be joined using a telescoping method, a reverse straight joint method, a spigot joint method, or any other known joining method. The rod body 2 may also be constructed from a single rod body.

[0023] The butt rod 3, middle rod 5, and tip rod 7 are each constructed, for example, as a tubular body made of fiber-reinforced resin. This fiber-reinforced resin tubular body is produced by winding a fiber-reinforced resin prepreg (prepreg sheet) in which reinforcing fibers are impregnated with a matrix resin around a core and then heating and curing the prepreg sheet. The reinforcing fibers contained in the prepreg sheet can be, for example, carbon fiber, glass fiber, or any other known reinforcing fiber. The matrix resin contained in the prepreg sheet can be a thermosetting resin such as epoxy resin. After the prepreg sheet has cured, the core is removed. The outer surface of the tubular body is polished as appropriate. Each rod body may be constructed in a solid shape.

[0024] In the illustrated embodiment, the butt rod 3, middle rod 5, and tip rod 7 are provided with a plurality of line guides 10 (line guides 10A-10D) that guide the fishing line that is let out from the reel 6 fixed by the reel leg fixing member 9. More specifically, the butt rod 3 is provided with line guide 10A, the middle rod 5 is provided with line guide 10B, and the tip rod 7 is provided with line guide 10C. A top guide 10D is provided at the tip of the tip rod 7, but details will be omitted.

[0025] Next, a reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Figures 2 to 7. Figure 2 is a diagram illustrating the overall configuration including the reel leg fixing member according to one embodiment of the present invention, and Figures 3 and 4 are diagrams illustrating the reel leg fixing member according to one embodiment of the present invention. Also, Figures 5 and 6 are diagrams illustrating a method of attaching the mounting portion of the reel leg fixing member according to one embodiment of the present invention to the fishing rod body, and Figure 7 is a diagram illustrating the outer surface member of the reel leg fixing member according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0026] 2 and 3, a reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention is a reel leg fixing member 9 comprising a spiral main body 11 having a fixing portion 11a for fixing a reel leg 6a placed on the fishing rod body 2, and mounting portions 12 formed on both ends of the spiral main body 11 for attaching to the fishing rod body 2, and the spiral main body 11 is configured to extend spirally in the axial direction X of the fishing rod body 2 so as to cover at least one lap (two laps in the example of FIG. 3) around the outer periphery 2a of the fishing rod body 2. Here, the example shown in FIG. 4 shows a configuration in which two reel leg fixing members 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention are provided, but a plurality of reel leg fixing members 9 may also be provided.

[0027] The reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention can be placed on the surface of the fishing rod body without any special processing, is lightweight, does not easily attenuate vibrations from the fishing rod body, and can hold the reel legs without requiring a separate member such as an attachment fixing belt.

[0028] In the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the length (A) of the spiral main body 11 as viewed in the axial direction X is formed to be greater than the length (B) of the reel leg 6a in the longitudinal direction. In this way, it becomes possible to fix the reel leg 6a to the surface of the fishing rod body 2.

[0029] In the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the spiral main body 11 is configured to cover two or more revolutions around the outer periphery of the fishing rod body 2, and the length (C) of the spiral main body 11 in the axial direction X for one revolution around the outer periphery 2a of the fishing rod body 2 is configured to be smaller than the longitudinal length (B) of the reel leg 6a. In this way, it is possible to fix the reel leg 6a to the surface of the fishing rod body 2.

[0030] Furthermore, in the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the length (D) of the spiral main body 11, as viewed in the axial direction X, for two revolutions around the outer periphery 2a of the fishing rod body 2 is configured to be greater than the longitudinal length (B) of the reel leg 6a. In this way, it is possible to fix the reel leg 6a to the surface of the fishing rod body 2.

[0031] In the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the radial distance (L) between the inner surface 11b of the spiral main body 11 and the outer surface 2b of the fishing rod body 2 is configured to decrease from the central (center) portion 11c of the spiral main body 11 toward the outside. In this way, it becomes possible to insert the reel leg 6a between the spiral main body 11 and the fishing rod body outer surface 2b in order to fix the reel leg 6a.

[0032] In the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the reel leg 6a is fixed by being press-fitted between the inner surface 11b of the spiral main body 11 and the outer surface 2b of the fishing rod body 2. In this way, the reel leg 6a can be fixed.

[0033] In the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the attachment portion 12 is attached to the outer surface 2b of the fishing rod body 2 by tape, belt, band, carbon tape wrapping, line spool, line clip or carbon cloth. In this way, the reel leg fixing member 9 can be fixed.

[0034] 5, in the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the attachment portion 12 is attached to the outer surface 2b of the fishing rod body 2 by a cylindrical fixing hood 20 that covers the attachment portion 12 and the fishing rod body 2. In this way, the reel leg fixing member 9 can be fixed.

[0035] 6, in a reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the mounting portion 12 has a male thread portion (male thread portion 21 in the illustrated example) or a female thread portion and a slit 22 provided in the axial direction X, and is attached to the outer surface 2b of the fishing rod body 2 by a cylindrical first fixed hood 23 that covers the mounting portion 12 and the fishing rod body 2, and a second fixed hood 25 that has a female thread portion or a male thread portion (female thread portion 24 in the illustrated example) that screws into the male thread portion (male thread portion 21 in the illustrated example) or the female thread portion and is attached to the outer surface 23a of the first fixed hood 23. In this way, the reel leg fixing member 9 can be fixed. Alternatively, the mounting portion 12 may be provided with something equivalent to the first fixed hood 23 described above; that is, the mounting portion 12 itself may be provided with a male thread portion or a female thread portion and a slit provided in the axial direction X, and the second fixed hood 25 described above may be attached to this.

[0036] 7, in the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, an elastic member 28 is provided on the outer surface 11b of the spiral main body 11. The elastic member 28 may be made of, but is not limited to, EVA, PE (polyethylene), or rubber. This improves gripping ability and reduces temperature changes in the gripping hand.

[0037] A fishing rod 1 according to one embodiment of the present invention is configured to include any of the reel leg fixing members 9 described above, a fishing rod body 2, and a fishing reel 6.

[0038] According to a fishing rod 1 equipped with a reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to provide a fishing rod that can be placed on the surface of the rod body without any special processing, is lightweight, does not easily attenuate vibrations from the rod body, and can hold the reel legs without requiring a separate member such as an attachment fixing belt.

[0039] In the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the spiral body portion 11 and the attachment portion 12 are configured to be formed from a synthetic resin such as ABS or nylon, or carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). This allows use regardless of the size of the reel seat leg, and can accommodate stretching of the spiral body portion. Furthermore, in the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the spiral body portion 11 and the attachment portion 12 may be formed from CFRTP (continuous fiber), CFRTP (discontinuous fiber), or a hybrid. Forming them from such materials can ensure sufficient rigidity and strength while suppressing weight increases.

[0040] Next, a method for molding the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention will be described. First, the shape and dimensions of the reel leg fixing member 9 are determined. Then, molding methods such as formation by a 3D printer, cutting, injection molding, and casting are possible, but are not limited to these.

[0041] In the case of a 3D printer, synthetic resin, CFRP, or the like is selected as the material, and a molded product is formed based on the shape and dimensions of the reel leg fixing member 9, and secondary processing (cutting dimensions and deburring) is performed as necessary to form the reel leg fixing member 9. In the case of cutting processing, a resin, CFRP, or metal bar is prepared as the material, and the outer shape is cut based on the shape and dimensions of the reel leg fixing member 9, and then the inner shape is cut to form the molded product. Then, secondary processing (cutting dimensions and deburring) is performed as necessary to form the reel leg fixing member 9. More specifically, excess parts at the front and back of the molded product and burrs that occurred during molding are removed.

[0042] In the case of injection molding or casting, resin, CFRP, or metal material is prepared as the material, and the material is poured into a mold to form the outer shape, taking into consideration the shape and dimensions of the reel leg fixing member 9. Then, cutting is performed on the inside to form the molded product. After that, secondary processing (measurement and deburring) is performed as necessary to form the reel leg fixing member 9. More specifically, excess parts at the front and back of the molded product and burrs generated during molding are removed.

[0043] Next, if necessary, the outer surface of the reel leg fixing member 9 is appropriately painted or printed. In this way, the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention is formed. With the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the reel can be placed on the fishing rod body and the reel leg can be fixed to the fishing rod body using the reel leg fixing member 9.

[0044] The reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention can be placed on the surface of the fishing rod body without any special processing, is lightweight, does not easily attenuate vibrations from the fishing rod body, and can hold the reel legs without requiring a separate member such as an attachment fixing belt.

[0045] Next, with reference to Figures 8 to 10, a method for fixing the reel legs 6a of the reel 6 to the fishing rod body 2 using a reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention (the reel legs 6a of the reel 6 are omitted in the illustrated example) will be described. Figure 8 shows a method called a fixed type, in which after attaching and fixing the mounting portions 12 at both ends of the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention to the fishing rod body 2 using a method already described, such as by winding the line, the reel legs 6a are inserted through the gaps in the spiral main body 11 as shown, and the reel legs 6a are rotated in the circumferential direction of the fishing rod body 2 as shown so as to press-fit, thereby fixing the reel legs 6a to the fishing rod body 2 with the reel leg fixing member 9.

[0046] 9 shows a method called a movable type, in which one end (i.e., attachment portion 12) of a reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention is attached and fixed to the fishing rod body 2 using the aforementioned fixing hood, grip tape, belt, etc., and then the reel leg 6a is inserted through the gap in the spiral main body 11 as shown, and then the other end (i.e., attachment portion 12) of the reel leg fixing member 9 is moved to a position where the reel leg 6a can be fixed to the fishing rod body 2 with sufficient force by stretching the other end of the reel leg fixing member 9 relative to the fishing rod body, and at that position the other end is fixed to the fishing rod body 2 using the aforementioned fixing hood, grip tape, belt, etc. In this way, the reel leg 6a can be fixed to the fishing rod body 2 by the reel leg fixing member 9.

[0047] Next, Figure 10 shows a method known as a twin spiral type, in which one reel leg fixing member 9 is placed on the fishing rod body 2, and one end of the reel leg 6a is inserted through the gap in its spiral main body portion 11 as shown. Then, another reel leg fixing member 9 is placed in a position where the other end of the reel leg 6a can be fixed. Then, both ends of the reel leg fixing member 9 (i.e., the mounting portions 12) are fixed to the fishing rod body 2 with the aforementioned fixing hood, grip tape, belt, etc. In this way, the reel leg 6a can be fixed to the fishing rod body 2 with a pair of reel leg fixing members 9.

[0048] Next, the reel leg fixing member 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention will be further described with reference to Figure 11.
