[0002] The present invention generally relates to polymer closures for packages, and particularly to hinge-type flip-top polymer closures having tamper-evident elements.
Background Art
[0003] Polymer closures have been used for containers in many applications for many years. One type of polymer closure used for containers is a tamper-evident polymer closure. A tamper-evident closure is used for the purpose of preventing or deterring tampering by providing the user with a visible indicator when it has been opened. This visible indicator typically divides the closure into two parts when the tamper-evident element is broken.
[0004] Tamper-evident elements have been used in polymer closures that are flip-top closures. Some flip-top closures have an upper tamper-evident element that includes a lid and a lower tamper-evident element on the bottom surface of the base.
