[0002] In card games, such as "Magic: The Gathering" or Pokémon, players set their cards against each other in games of combat and strategy. Often, players use playmats to place their cards. These playmats can slide cards more easily than a surface such as a tabletop and can help protect the cards from what may be present on the table where the player is sitting. For this reason, many playmats include some type of slidable cloth top and some type of rubber bottom to prevent the playmat from sliding on the surface on which it is placed.

Summary of the Invention
[0004] This disclosure describes systems and technologies for facilitating the transport of general gameplay area systems. The systems may include separate subcomponents that are used in combination or separately, depending on the user's needs.

The playmat may also include a first side section rotatably coupled to the middle section, allowing the first side section to be folded over the middle section, and the first side section includes at least one closing magnet. [0029] Card game playmats are essentially large mousepads, and they have been in use for a very long time. Traditional playmats tend to have a neoprene support and a polyester top, and are transported or stored either rolled up and carried as is, or rolled up and placed in a tube. This is cumbersome and becomes difficult when players need to move frequently between tables, such as in tournament-type settings. While variations in the appearance of playmats, such as licensed artwork, are common in the field, there have been no significant improvements to the structure of the playmats themselves.
[0030] Throughout this disclosure, several variations of the magnet are illustrated and presented. It is understood that, as long as one magnet is present, other materials having magnetic properties, such as steel, may be used. For example, in some examples, a playmat 20 is shown and described as having at least one mat magnet 314, and a two-piece deck box is shown and described as having at least one magnet 624. The invention described herein would still function perfectly even if at least one magnet 624 were replaced with a similarly sized piece of steel. However, it is further understood that any magnet that is simply replaced with a different material having magnetic properties will produce a weaker magnetic coupling than using the magnet throughout the invention.
