AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional open-type magnetic resonance imaging systems face challenges in providing a wide imaging area for patients while maintaining easy access, particularly for procedures like PCI, due to the circular configuration of static magnetic field magnets which increase in diameter and cause confinement.

Method used

The use of a static magnetic field magnet with loop coils arranged in a rectangular parallelepiped shape, where loop coil pairs generate a static magnetic field parallel to a specific direction, allowing for an asymmetrical imaging area that is wide in the longitudinal direction and narrow in the short direction, facilitating easy access and reducing confinement.

Benefits of technology

This configuration enables a wider imaging area in the head-to-foot direction of the subject, allowing easier access for procedures like PCI and reducing the feeling of confinement compared to conventional systems.

Abstract

To enable easy access to an object during imaging while widely securing an imaging region in the head-foot direction of the object in imaging using an open-type static field magnet.SOLUTION: In one embodiment, a static field magnet to be used in an MRI apparatus that images an object (P), includes at least one loop coil pair including a first loop coil to be supplied with an electric current in a first direction and a second loop coil to be supplied with an electric current in a second direction opposite to the first direction, wherein a first coil plane, being a planar area surrounded by a first loop that forms the first loop coil, and a second coil plane, being a planar area surrounded by a second loop that forms the second loop coil, are arranged along a specific direction on a specific plane without overlapping each other, and the loop coil pair generates a static magnetic field parallel with the specific direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
