Abstract

To further reduce the density deviation in the main-scanning direction of an image.SOLUTION: An image formation apparatus 1 comprises: a density deviation calculation unit 182 which calculates the density deviation from a difference between the image density and the reference density obtained by a density sensor 70; a gradation sensitivity calculation unit 183 which calculates the gradation sensitivity determined from the image density and the inclination of the input gradation of the image; a correction amount calculation unit 184 which calculates a gradation correction amount for each of a plurality of areas 72-0 to 72-n on the basis of the density deviation and the gradation sensitivity; a correction control unit 185 which corrects an image formation condition of an image formation unit (exposure unit 101 and imaging unit 102) by using the gradation correction amount; and a calibration control unit 186 which controls calibration processing that makes the printing output characteristics constant. The gradation sensitivity calculation unit 183 newly calculates the gradation sensitivity every time the correction processing by the correction control unit 185 and the calibration processing by the calibration control unit 186 are executed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
