Abstract
The present invention discloses a process for the sustainable chemical conversion of agave bagasse, a product of distillation in the mezcal industry, to obtain cellulose pulp. In one embodiment, the agave is Agave durangensis. In one embodiment, the process comprises drying the agave bagasse to a moisture content of less than 10%, grinding and sieving it; delignifying it at a temperature of 70°C for 24 hours, and bleaching it to finally obtain the cellulose pulp.
