NATURAL GAS HANDLING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF

Abstract

A system is provided for handling blowdown gas evacuated from a pipeline segment. The system includes: one or more compressor units to receive the blowdown gas from the pipeline segment; an incinerator unit to receive the blowdown gas from the one or more compressor units; a flow control diverter valve; one or more sensors associated with each of the one or more compressor units, the one or more incinerator units, one or more pressure vessels, and interconnected piping to collect operational data and data about the blowdown gas; and a processor communicating with the one or more sensors to receive the operational data and data about the blowdown gas. The processor comprises algorithms to determine one or more switching pressures at which the blowdown gas should be redirected from a compression operation to an incineration operation. A method for handling blowdown gas evacuated from a pipeline segment is also provided.
