Description

ELECTRICAL BOX SUPPORT Field of Invention This description pertains to electrical boxes. More specifically, this description pertains to an electrical box assembly having a bracket that can be adjusted to different sizes. This description also pertains to an electrical box assembly having a cable support that moves from a shipping, packaging, or transport position to an installed position. Background of the Invention Electrical boxes are used to enclose and support electrical devices, wires, and wiring. Electrical boxes can be secured to a structure such as a ceiling or wall. One way to attach an electrical box to a wall is to connect it to a stud so that the box spans between a front and back drywall panel of the wall. However, electrical boxes secured to structural studs, especially metal studs, need additional support to prevent movement. A common method for providing stability is to support the box from the drywall on the opposite side of the wall from where the box is mounted—that is, the back drywall panel. 1. An electrical box assembly, characterized in that it comprises: a box body and a support connected to the box body, the support having a plurality of appendages, the plurality of appendages being adjustable to a plurality of configurations to fit the size of the support.

2. The electrical box assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that the support has a support body and wherein the plurality of appendages extends outwards from the support body.

3. The electrical box assembly according to claim 2, characterized in that the support body has a U-shaped opening forming a fin that bends outwards from the support body.

4. The electrical box assembly according to claim 2, characterized in that the plurality of appendages can be bent to adjust their size.

5. The electrical box assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that the support can be moved from a shipping configuration, wherein a support body is adjacent to the box body, to an installed position, wherein the support body is moved away from the box body.

6. The electrical box assembly according to claim 5, characterized in that the support body has a first lateral projection on a first side of the support body extending outwards from the support body in a first direction and wherein the support has a second lateral projection extending from the support body that can be folded from a shipping configuration to an installed configuration, such that the second lateral projection extends outwards from the support body in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction to maintain the support in the installed position.

7. The electrical box assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that it further comprises a support extension that can be connected to the support, wherein the support extension can be connected at different positions along the support to adjust to the size of the support.

8. The electrical box assembly according to claim 7, characterized in that the support has a plurality of openings through the support body and wherein the support extension connects to different openings of the plurality of openings to fit the size of the support.

9. The electrical box assembly according to claim 7, characterized in that the support extension has a tab that folds over the support to secure the support.

10. The electrical box assembly according to claim 9, characterized in that the support extension has a plurality of tabs, wherein each of the plurality of tabs folds over the support to hold the support in a position different from another of the plurality of tabs.

13. An electrical box assembly, characterized in that it comprises: a box body and a cable support bracket connected to the box body, the cable support bracket being movable from a shipping or transport position to an installed position.

14. The electrical box assembly according to claim 13, characterized in that the box body has a rear wall opposite an opening and wherein the support bracket is connected to the rear wall.

15. The electrical box assembly according to claim 13, characterized in that the cable support bracket has a connection portion connected to the box body and a support portion extending away from the connection portion.

16. The electrical box assembly according to claim 15, characterized in that the support portion is adjacent to the rear wall in the shipping position.

17. The electrical box assembly according to claim 16, characterized in that the support portion folds over the connection portion in the installed position.

18. The electrical box assembly according to claim 15, characterized in that the support portion extends far from the back wall in the installed position.

An electrical box assembly, characterized in that it comprises: a box body; a support base that connects to the box body; and a support base extension that can be connected to the support base in a plurality of positions, such that the assembly of the support base extension that is connected to the support base has a different size in each of the plurality of positions.

An electrical box assembly, characterized in that it comprises: 5 a box body and a support element selectively connected to the box body, the support element having at least one opening between two ends and a fastener that can be selectively connected to the 10 support element through at least one opening to connect the support element to the box body, such that the support element can be bent on at least one side of the fastener.
