Abstract

The present utility model relates to a Multisensor Material Sorter, a compact and cost-efficient device for detecting, classifying, and sorting various materials using multiple sensing technologies. The sorter consists of a short PVC pipe that serves as the passageway and a movable / rotatable PVC elbow at the end, actuated by a servomotor to direct materials into designated outputs. The device integrates capacitive, inductive, and ultrasonic sensors strategically placed inside the tee pipe fitting to detect the dielectric, metallic, and positional properties of materials. Sensor outputs are processed by a microcontroller, which determines the classification of the material, the angle of elbow rotation, and the timing of material flow. This multisensory approach provides more accurate sorting compared to conventional single-sensor devices, allowing the system to handle both metallic and non-metallic materials effectively. The design is modular, portable, and safe, making it suitable for industrial automation, recycling applications, and educational training.
