Abstract

The present utility model relates to a process for the aerobic biological treatment of wastewater within an aerobic fixed-film integrated system (AFIS) wastewater treatment tank. Influent wastewater is introduced into the tank via an inflow pump and a top-mounted distribution duct with side weirs, contacted with a bed of biofilm carriers under aerobic conditions maintained by an aeration assembly comprising a compressor, a diffuser, and aeration piping, and collected by vertically oriented wedge-wire screens for discharge through an outflow pump. Customized biofilm carriers colonized with locally adapted microorganisms enhance biological treatment, while online sensors operatively connected to an AI-based multivariate control system monitor and dynamically optimize real-time process parameters, providing a compact, energy-efficient process for aerobic wastewater treatment compared to conventional wastewater treatment processes.
