Sandwich assay method

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a sandwich assay method for detecting the presence of a target molecule in a microfluidic device comprising a microchannel, the method comprising:- Providing the microfluidic device comprising the microchannel, wherein an affinity probe with affinity for the target molecule is immobilized to an inner surface of the microchannel;- Providing a first solution comprising the target molecule into the microchannel such that binding of the target molecule to the affinity probe is enabled;- Providing a second solution with detection enhancement probe into the microchannel, the detection enhancement probe comprising a nanoparticle and one or more detection probes with affinity for the target molecule, such that binding of one of the one or more detection probes to the target molecule is enabled; and- Detecting the presence of the detection enhancement probe along with the target molecule and the affinity probe by recording the changes in streaming current or potential.The present disclosure furthermore relates to a kit for use in the method.
