Abstract
Description
PRIOR ART
[0001] The Long Boat Ground Effect Vehicle, heretofore referenced as Long Boat is based upon prior Wing-In-Ground-Effect (WIG) art, whereas a wing type apparatus in motion causes atmospheric fluids to reflect towards the ground, thus bouncing off the earth re-engaging the airfoil, creating a cushion of air that provides lift. Wing in ground craft do not operate higher than their own air cushion, which is dictated by their wing span, meaning they are not capable of open air flight as traditional airfoils using the Bernoulli principle. Otherwise stated, WIG in motion gathers and compresses atmospheric fluids in a reciprocal process bouncing off the earth, yielding an air cushion.DESCRIPTION
[0002] The Long Boat starts with traditional Wing-In-Ground-Effect reverse delta wings strategically spaced and horizontally stacked along a long narrow row boat type structure with linear single or double wide occupant compartments. Each WIG reverse delta wing coincides with the occupant compartments. The row boat configuration sits down inside the spaced reverse delta wing airfoils splitting them into two parts. At the mouth on both sides of the split reverse delta wings are ducted fans which forces air to provide additional lifting pressure, against the underside of the airfoil and V hull row boat shape. Traditional airfoils with control surfaces exists in combination on the leading split WIG reverse delta wing structure where the pilot resides to guide the aircraft, heretofore known as the Tug Boat or Tug.
[0003] The Long Boat exists in three configurations, either as an all-in-one capability, as Tug and Trailer, or Independent Multi-Tug Break Out form factor.
[0004] Landing gear are positioned where most appropriate at the bottom of the reverse delta wing infrastructure to provide Long Boat support, and ability to handle landing impacts on the air frame. The landing gear tires are over sized, resembling balloon inflated apparatuses to assist with take off and landing to address rough terrain and obstacles. In addition, the tires keep the air frame two, four or more feet off the ground. Also, for water borne capabilities, pontoons are attached in the location of the tires, or the tires are designed for duel use.
[0005] The Long Boat will have “out of air cushion” Pop-Up or Hopping capabilities, whereas the craft can momentarily produce open air flight, by appropriately placing airfoils with control surfaces to produce lift to avoid obstacles higher than the air cushion dictated by wing span. Further, other Long Boat operational form factors exists by combing continuous open air flight capabilities with the advantage of exponential WIG air cushion lift efficiencies.
[0006] The Long Boat can be configured for open air or an enclosed canopy made from various structurally sound materials. Further, the wing air frame and row boat infrastructure can be made from cloth on frame, light wood, aluminum, graphite etc. . . . , or heavier metals dependent upon operational requirements. Also, the actual split reverse delta wing frame can be made from the aforementioned materials.BRIEF DRAWING DESCRIPTION
[0007] The attached drawing is a top view from above of the Long Boat Ground Effect Vehicle. The drawing illustrates how the LB-GEV is a linear long hulled boat able to sit deeply within attached ground effect airfoils, allowing an air stream generated by the depicted turbines or propellers and forward motion to pressurize the hulled structure from directional ground effect forces.DRAWING DESCRIPTION
[0008] This document serves as a description of the attached LB-GEV Drawing with a view from the top.Drawing Component Descriptions1. The Tug with V-Hull assist in pulling the Trailer with V-Hull and provides strategic and tactical control for the overall Long Boat annotated in Item. The Tug has a compartment for a pilot or used for autonomous control capabilities to guide the Long Boat. The Tug V-Hull sits deep within the Reverse Delta Wings inside the Constricted Low Altitude Atmospheric River captured by the airfoil, to provide additional lift as a boat sitting in dynamic water, in conjunction with the attached reverse lifting surfaces. As annotated in Item #3, the Tug Reverse Delta Wings specifically contains overall airfoil control surfaces for the craft.
[0010] 2. The Trailer with V-Hull contains seating for personnel, or open space for transporting equipment, or. military payloads. The Trailer V-Hull sits within the Constricted Low Altitude Atmospheric River to provide additional lift, as a boat sitting in dynamic water, in conjunction with the attached Reverse Delta Wings. As drawn the Trailer Reverse Delta Wings do not have control surfaces, however does not preclude using such airfoils when the operational trade space calls for the requirement.
[0011] 3. The Tug Reverse Delta Wing contains control surfaces to guide the overall Long Boat. The Reverse Delta Wing is designed to allow the constricted airflow captured under the airfoil structure to move sequentially to succeeding Reverse Delta Wing to generate an atmospheric stream for enhanced lift, and also pressurizes the V-Hull, as a boat sitting in water.
[0012] 4. The Reverse Delta Wing attached to the Trailer are designed to allow the constricted airflow captured under the airfoil structure to move sequentially to succeeding Reverse Delta Wing to generate. an atmospheric stream within Ground Effect for enhanced lift, and also pressurize the V-Hull as a boat sitting in water. Reverse Delta Wings can be fitted with airfoil control surfaces if the operational trade space calls for the capability.
[0013] 5. The Personnel Compartment is fitted with seats, or can be configured to carry freight, or other military payloads. Personnel Compartment sits deep within the V-Hull, providing protection from the atmosphere if in an uncovered configuration and limit drag. The Personnel Compartment also comes with an attached head cover configuration, and due to the deep sitting personnel construct provides a highly practicable low drag atmospheric interactions for efficiencies.
[0014] 6. The Wheels are over sized inner tube type apparatuses serving as waterborne floating and rough terrain take off capabilities.
[0015] 7. The Rear Vertical Stabilizer, is a high boom configuration to steady the Reverse Delta Wings, which are unstable especially when close to leaving ground effect. The vertical stabilizer also has airfoil control surfaces, providing strategic control to the overall Long Boat.
[0016] 8. The Ducted Fan provide directional thrust into the Reverse Delta Wings, filling the airfoil, not unlike a hovercraft skirt being pressurized to create lift by the atmosphere reflecting off the ground. The Ducted Fan also pushes the constricted air outside of the rear of the Reverse Delta Wing, flowing sequentially into the succeeding or horizontally stacked airfoils. The Ducted Fans can be configured to. partially rotate from left to right, and up and down to enhance thrusting capabilities, if the operational. trade space calls for the requirement.
[0017] 9. The Tug and Trailer Coupler Lock connects the Tug and Trailer, allowing the Tug to transport numerous trailer over time.
Claims
1. Constricted Low Altitude Atmospheric River (C-LARR)2. Tug & Trailer Ground Effect Vehicle3. Flexible Waterborne & All Terrain Take Off / Landing GearConstricted Low Altitude Atmospheric RiverThe Long Boat Ground Effect Vehicle, heretofore referenced as Long Boat is based upon prior Wing-In-Ground-Effect (WIG) art, whereas a wing type apparatus in motion causes atmospheric fluids to reflect towards the ground, thus bouncing off the earth re-engaging the airfoil, creating a cushion of air that provides lift. Wing in ground craft do not operate higher than their own air cushion, which is dictated by their wing span, meaning they are not capable of open air flight as traditional airfoils using the Bernoulli principle. Otherwise stated, WIG in motion gathers and compresses atmospheric fluids in a reciprocal process bouncing off the earth, yielding an air cushion.Based on prior WIG art, however now in a linear form factor, the Long Boat Ground Effect Vehicle produces a Constricted Low Altitude Atmospheric River (C-LAAR), or otherwise stated, a fluidic stream is created moving through succeeding reverse delta wings, generating an air cushion from the initial to the final airfoil. The C-LAAR enhances the fluidic flow towards the succeeding split reverse delta wings, which also increases lifting pressures against the row boat structure, meaning the hull is resting on and supported by a dynamic river of air.Tug & Trailer Ground Effect Vehicle (T&T-GEV)Traditional ground effect vehicles are not configured in a tug and trailer form factor, as towed gliders were during World War II. The Long Boat Ground Effect Vehicle, heretofore referenced as Long Boat is based upon prior Wing-In-Ground-Effect (WIG) art, whereas a wing type apparatus in motion causes atmospheric fluids to reflect towards the ground, thus bouncing off the earth re-engaging the airfoil, creating a cushion of air that provides lift. Usual configurations for WIG vehicles to enhance lift includes greatly expanding the wind apparatus vice creating a linear structure, thus does not traditionally include a trailer type form factor. The Tug and Trailer Long Boat is based on prior art, of aircraft pulling other air foiled craft with controls surfaces, such as the World War II glider scenario. However, now the Long Boat Tug & Trailer scenario, becomes viable due to the C-LAAR stability referenced in Claim Sheet #1, of the linearly placed reverse delta wings and low altitude operation, allows the operation with an actively powered Trailer without controls, using a Tug with controlling surfaces to guide the Trailer is new art. Otherwise stated, as the newly configured Long Boat configuration WIG in motion gathers and compresses atmospheric fluids in a reciprocal process bouncing off the earth, yielding a highly stable horizontal air cushion, a tug and trailer form factor becomes possible, enhancing application and operation.Flexible Waterborne & All Terrain Take Off / Landing GearTraditional ground effect vehicles use pontoons or similar flotation apparatus for water borne activity,. and land based ground effect vehicles use tires. Combinations of these two capabilities exist such as pontoons with tires, however due to environmental operating constraints, usually these vehicles are designed to operate in one specific arena. Otherwise stated, WIG in motion gathers and compresses atmospheric fluids in a reciprocal process bouncing off the earth, yielding an air cushion, however the LB-GEV's linear airfoil construct allows advancement of the art to apply dual purpose landing capabilities.Wing-In-Ground-Effect vehicles traditionally us waterborne capabilities or regular tires for land use limiting operations to one environment. By using unusually large tires configured for dual purpose, that raise the craft 2-4 or more feet off the ground allows for clearance against most ground obstacles or waves for take off. The large tires are designed as highly flexible inner tube structures, allowing for pliable engagement with large rocks or other debris during take off and landing. Further, the highly flexible large tires serve as large floats for water borne operations, also absorbing the impact from waves in motion. The flexible large inner tubes in combination with WIG vehicles is new art.
