[0015] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new fan embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

[0016] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the overhead floor fan apparatus 10 generally comprises a base 12 having a top side 14 separated from a bottom side 16 and a sidewall 18 extending therebetween. The top side 14, the bottom side 16, and the sidewall 18 forms an inner cavity 20. The base 12 may be elliptical. The bottom side 16 of the base may be textured for added grip. The top side 14 has a pole aperture 22 extending through to the inner cavity 20. A support pole 24 is coupled to the base 12 through the support pole aperture 22. The support pole 24 is hollow to allow for wiring. The support pole 24 has a vertical portion 26 adjacent the base 12 and a curved portion 28 extending from the vertical portion 26 and terminating at a distal end 30 of the support pole. The distal end 30 is oriented downwards. The support pole 24 is question mark-shaped with the curved portion 28 extending along a longer axis of the elliptical base 12 to minimize the size and weight requirements of the base 12 for balance.

[0017] A motor housing 32 is coupled to the distal end 30 of the support pole. The motor housing 32 is cylindrical and has a rounded bottom perimeter 34. A motor 36 is coupled within the motor housing 32 and has a drive shaft 38 rotatably extending through a bottom face 40 of the motor housing. A fan 42 comprises a hub 44 coupled to the drive shaft 38 and a plurality of blades 46 coupled to the hub 44. Each of the blades 46 of the fan has an extension arm 48 coupled to the hub 44 and a leaf 50 coupled to the extension arm 48. The extension arm 48 has a semicircular bracket 52 coupled adjacent a straight near end 54 of the leaf. The leaf 50 has a pair of rounded edges 56 and a rounded tip 58. Each leaf 50 is pitched to direct air downwards when the hub 44 rotates. A power source 60 is coupled to the base 12 and is in operational communication with the motor 36. The power source 60 may be a power cord 62 extending through the sidewall 18 of the base.

[0018] A power switch 62 is coupled to the fan 42 and is in operational communication with the motor 36 and the power source 60. The power switch 62 may be a pull string 64 coupled to the hub 44 to allow control without a user having to bend down to the base 12. A CPU 66 may be coupled within the base 12 and is in operational communication with the power source 60. A plurality of LED lights 68 may be coupled to the hub 44 of the fan and is in operational communication with the CPU 66. A solar panel 70 may be coupled to the base 12 and is in operational communication with an AC / DC inverter 72 coupled within the base 12. The AC / DC inverter 72 is in operational communication with the CPU 66. A plurality of outlets 74 may be coupled to the base 12. The outlets 74 comprise at least one USB port 76 and at least one AC electrical outlet 78. The outlets 74 are in operational communication with the CPU 66 to draw power from either the solar panel 70 or the power source 60. A Bluetooth speaker 80 may be coupled to the base 12 and is in operational communication with the CPU 66 and the power source 60. The speaker 80 is configured to play music from a user's personal electronic device.

[0019] In use, the apparatus 10 may be placed in any indoor or outdoor location to provide the effects of a standard ceiling fan without requiring any installation. The pull string 64 is tugged to activate the motor 36.

[0020] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

[0021] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
