[0001] Electromobility components
[0002] The present invention relates to electromobility components with a color difference AE <20 from the L*a*b* coordinates to a color number beginning with "2" in the RAL color table, comprising polymer compositions based on at least one polyester and a colorant with an average particle size d50 to be determined by laser diffractometry according to ISO 13320 in the range from 1 to 12 pm, containing 9,9'-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one, 9,10-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one and 10,10'-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one in a ratio of 1:1:0.8-1.5 to 1:1.5:0.8-1.5, as well as the use of a colorant with an average particle size d50 to be determined according to ISO 13320 in the range of 1 to 12 pm containing 9,9'-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one, 9,10-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one and 10,10'-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one in the ratio of 1 : 1 : 0.8 - 1.5 to 1 : 1.5 : 0.8 - 1.5 in polymer compositions for the production of polyester-based electromobility components with a color difference AE <20 from the L*a*b* coordinates to a color number beginning with "2" in the RAL color table, in particular for reducing color streaks in the production of polyester-based electromobility components.
[0003] State of the art
[0004] Engineering thermoplastics such as polyester are an important material due to their good mechanical stability, chemical resistance, excellent electrical properties, and easy processability, particularly in the field of automotive components. They have therefore been a key component in the production of sophisticated automotive components for many years. While the combustion engine was the dominant drive concept for many years, the search for alternative drive concepts has also given rise to new requirements regarding material selection. Electromobility plays a key role in this area, with key components for the electric drive of vehicles being marked in orange—so-called electromobility components within the meaning of the present invention.
[0005] Electromobility components are known to the person skilled in the art from EP 3 947 020 B1, in which they can be, for example, distribution boxes, control units, and / or cabling, designated as (172). Electromobility components can be components that are in direct contact with live parts, as well as those that, in the immediate vicinity or spatial proximity thereto, function as contact protection, warning markings, or shielding, with components that are in direct contact with the live parts being preferred according to the invention. With regard to battery components, electromobility components according to the invention are preferably standard or round cell modules, cell housings, cell connectors, cell contact systems, module connectors, pressure compensation elements, seals, and intelligent battery management systems. With regard to proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), electromobility components are preferably modules or stack modules, metallic bipolar plates, end and media modules, and sealing systems. In an electric drive unit (EDU), electromobility components can include seals and other components, in particular functionally integrated housing covers, housing seals, shaft seals, disk carriers, and stamping packages. Finally, electromobility components within the meaning of the present invention also include shielding systems and dynamic precision parts.
[0006] Due to high processing temperatures of sometimes >300°C, particularly during compounding and injection molding, the selection of suitable colorants for the orange marking of electromobility components is very limited for engineering thermoplastics such as polyester. For example, under extreme conditions such as those encountered in polyester processing, colorants tend to produce color streaks, especially on the surfaces of injection-molded products. Undesirable color streaks occur when the colorant is insufficiently mixed, when the colorant and the plastic being processed are incompatible, or when separation occurs due to excessive shear during injection molding. There are numerous sources of error for the occurrence of such undesirable color streaks.Examples include machine-related sources of error in the mixing screw, mixing cylinders that are too small, defective color dosing, material hoppers that are too large, or electrostatic charging of the color or colorant. Material-related sources of error can include the incompatibility of the masterbatch or colorant with the plastic being processed, insufficient solubility of the colorant in the plastic being processed, thermal sensitivity of the colorant, granules that are too large, or an excessive pigment content. Method-related sources of error can include insufficient back pressure during injection molding, excessive screw speed, melt temperature that is too high or too low, injection speed that is too high or too low, mold temperature that is too high or too low, or insufficient or excessive color dosing. Finally, mold-related defects can also contribute to the occurrence of color streaks, such as flow cross-sections that are too small, flow paths that are too long, weld lines that are too poorly positioned, or sections of the injection-molded product that are too small for injection molding. Therefore, particularly in the case of glass-fiber-reinforced electromobility components, the streak-reduced or streak-free processing of orange polyester-based molding compounds, especially in injection molding, presents a particular challenge for the specialist.
[0007] Based on the teaching of EP 3 947 020 B1, the object of the present invention was therefore to provide electromobility components based on polyesters which, on the one hand, are characterized by the color orange, but at the same time are as free as possible from color streaks and finally show an improved (color) brilliance compared to the state of the art according to DIN EN ISO 11664-4, wherein orange polyester-based electromobility components based on alternative dyes and / or alternative physical properties of these orange dyes are to be considered as state of the art.
[0008] Surprisingly, it has now been found that electromobility components based on polyesters and a colorant with an average particle size d50 in the range of 1 to 12 pm, determined by laser diffractometry according to ISO 13320, containing 9,9'-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one, 9,10-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one and 10,10'-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one in a ratio of 1 : 1 : 0.8 -1.5 to 1 : 1.5 : 0.8 - 1.5 meet the required requirements, whereby the three isomers are described by the following structural formulas:
[0009] 9,10-Oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one
[0010] 9,9'-Oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one (color) brilliance
[0011] Color brilliance is a general term for colorants which - based on the physical term and also referred to as brilliance in the context of the present application - non-specifically describes the light effect of a body color. It is generally dependent on the color saturation, the luminance, but also on the directed light of point light sources (brilliance in wave theory), which creates gloss on shiny surfaces or transparent materials through reflection of the light source or refraction of the light. To determine the (color) brilliance according to DIN EN ISO 11664-4, samples are subjected to a coloristic measurement within the scope of the present invention. For this purpose, polyester granules colored with 1 wt.% titanium dioxide are dried in a circulating air dryer at 120°C for 4 hours. 1 kg of the granules are mixed with 0.20 wt.-% of the respective colorant to be tested is mixed and this mixture is extruded at a melt temperature of 280°C using a twin-screw extruder and then granulated again. The colored granules are dried at 120°C for 4 hours and sample plates measuring 4cm x 6cm x 0.2cm are produced from the dried, colored granules on an injection molding machine at a melt temperature of 280°C, a back pressure of 10 bar and a mold temperature of 80°C. After at least ten injection cycles, sample plates are removed for color measurement and left to rest at room temperature for at least 1 hour. Remission measurements are then carried out on the sample plates using a d / 8° spectrophotometer. An improvement in (color) brilliance within the meaning of the present invention exists if the AC* is > 1 compared to a comparison measurement based on a preparation outside the claimed isomer ratio, because an AC* of 1 is already visible to the naked eye.The higher the (color) brilliance of a sample, the more saturated the color is perceived.
[0012] The colorant containing the isomers 9,9'-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one, 9,10-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one, and 10,10'-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one in a ratio of 1:1:0.8-1.5 to 1:1.5:0.8-1.5 is used with an average particle size d50 in the range of 1 to 12 pm, determined according to ISO 13320. Regarding the d50 value, its determination, and its significance, see Chemie Ingenieur Technik (72), pp. 273-276, 3 / 2000, Wiley-VCH Verlags GmbH, Weinheim, 2000. The d50 of a particle size distribution refers to the particle size corresponding to the cumulative abundance of 50%. The d50 is a typical parameter for assessing powder quality. For example, if the d50 value of a sample based on volume distribution is 5 pm, this means that the volume of particles below 5 pm accounts for 50% of the total sample volume, and the volume of particles above 5 pm also accounts for 50%.In mathematical statistics, the d50 is what is commonly referred to as the median.

[0046] Table 1 shows the device-independent CIE L*a*b* color values for the respective RAL value: L* stands for the luminance, a* describes the color coordinates along the red-green axis, and b* describes the color coordinates along the yellow-blue axis using D65 standard illuminant with a 10° field of view for a standard observer. The color model is standardized in EN ISO 11664-4 "Colorimetry -- Part 4: CIE 1976 L*a*b* Color space." For information on the L*a*b* color space (also: CIELAB), see: https: / / de.wikipedia.org / wiki / Lab-Farbraum. Each color in the color space is defined by a color coordinate with the Cartesian coordinates {L*, a*, b*}. The a*b* coordinate plane was constructed using complementary color theory. Green and red are opposite each other on the a* axis, while the b* axis runs between blue and yellow. Complementary colors are 180° opposite each other, and all achromatic colors lie in their center (the coordinate origin a*=0, b*=0).
[0047] The L* axis describes the brightness (luminance) of the color with values from 0 to 100. In the illustration, this is perpendicular to the a*b* plane at the zero point. It can also be called the neutral gray axis because all achromatic colors (shades of gray) are contained between the endpoints black (L*=0) and white (L*=100). The a* axis describes the green or red component of a color, with negative values representing green and positive values representing red. The b* axis describes the blue or yellow component of a color, with negative values representing blue and positive values representing yellow. The a* values range from approximately -170 to +100, and the b* values from -100 to +150, with maximum values only being reached at medium brightness of certain colors. The CIELAB color solid has its greatest extent in the medium brightness range, but this height and size varies depending on the color range.

[0056] Of the aliphatic dihydroxy compounds, diols with 2 to 6 carbon atoms, especially 1,2-ethanediol, 1,3-propanediol, 1,4-butanediol, 1,6-hexanediol, 1,4-hexanediol, 1,4-cyclohexanediol, 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol, neopentyl glycol, or mixtures thereof, are preferred. Particularly preferred polyalkylene terephthalates are derived from alkanediols with 2 to 4 carbon atoms. Of these, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polypropylene terephthalate, and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), or mixtures thereof, are particularly preferred. Such C2-C10-polyalkylene terephthalates can be prepared, for example, by the process of DE-A 4401 055. The carboxyl end group content is usually determined by titration methods, in particular potentiometry.
[0059] Particularly preferred C2-C12 polyalkylene terephthalates for use as polyesters are produced using titanium catalysts. These preferably have a residual titanium content of <250 ppm, more preferably <200 ppm, and most preferably <150 ppm after polymerization.
[0060] The polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) [CAS No. 24968-12-5] preferably used according to the invention as C2-C polyalkylene terephthalate is prepared from terephthalic acid or its reactive derivatives and butanediol by known methods (Kunststoff-Handbuch, Vol. VIII, pp. 695-743, Karl Hanser Verlag, Munich 1973).
[0061] The PBT to be used as polyester preferably contains at least 80 mol%, preferably at least 90 mol%, based on the dicarboxylic acid,
[0062] Terephthalic acid residues.
[0063] PBT, which is preferably used as polyester according to the invention, can be used in a
[0064] Embodiment containing, in addition to terephthalic acid residues, up to 20 mol% of residues of other aromatic dicarboxylic acids having 8 to 14 C atoms or residues of aliphatic dicarboxylic acids having 4 to 12 C atoms, in particular residues of phthalic acid, isophthalic acid, naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid, 4,4'-diphenyldicarboxylic acid, succinic acid, adipic acid, sebacic acid, azelaic acid, cyclohexanediacetic acid, cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid, 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid.

[0066] PBT, which is preferably used as a polyester, has an intrinsic viscosity according to EN-ISO 1628 / 5 in the range of 40 to 170 cm 3 / g, particularly preferably in the range of 50 to 150cm 3 / g, especially preferred in the range of 65 to 135cm 3 / g, each measured in an Ubbelohde viscometer in phenol / o-dichlorobenzene (1:1 parts by weight) at 25°C. The intrinsic viscosity / V, also known as the Staudinger index or limiting viscosity, is proportional to the average molecular mass according to the Mark-Houwink equation and is the extrapolation of the viscosity number VN for the case of vanishing polymer concentrations. It can be estimated from series of measurements or by using suitable approximate methods (e.g. Billmeyer). The VN [ml / g] is obtained from measuring the solution viscosity in a capillary viscometer, e.g. an Ubbelohde viscometer. The solution viscosity is a measure of the average molecular weight of a plastic. It is determined on the dissolved polymer using different solvents (m-cresol, tetrachloroethane, phenol, 1,2-dichlorobenzene, etc.) and concentrations. The viscosity number (VN) allows for monitoring the processing and performance properties of plastics. Thermal stress on the polymer, aging processes, exposure to chemicals, weathering, and light can be investigated through comparative measurements. [0086] The melt transesterification process is described in H. Schnell, "Chemistry and Physics of Polycarbonates," Polymer Reviews, Volume 9, pp. 44 to 51, Interscience Publishers, New York, London, Sydney, 1964, and in DE-A 1 031 512. In the production of polycarbonate, raw materials and auxiliaries with a low degree of impurities are preferably used. Particularly in production by the melt transesterification process, the bisphenols and carbonic acid derivatives used should be as free as possible from alkali ions and alkaline earth ions. [0092] Polycarbonates preferably used as polyesters according to the invention can be branched in a known manner, preferably by incorporating trifunctional or more than trifunctional branching agents. Preferred branching agents are those with three or more than three phenolic groups or those with three or more than three carboxylic acid groups.
[0093] Besonders bevorzugte Verzweiger sind Phloroglucin, 4,6-Dimethyl-2,4,6-tri-(4-hydroxy- phenyl)-hepten-2, 4,6-Dimethyl-2,4,6-tri-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-heptan, 1 ,3,5-T ri-(4- hydroxyphenyl)-benzol, 1 ,1 ,1-Tris-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-ethan, Tri-(4-hydroxyphenyl)- phenylmethan, 2,2-Bis-[4,4-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-cyclohexyl]-propan, 2,4-Bis-(4- hydroxyphenyl-isopropyl)-phenol, 2,6-Bis-(2-hydroxy-5'-methyl-benzyl)-4-methylphenol, 2- (4-Hydroxyphenyl)-2-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-propan, Hexa-(4-(4-hydroxyphenyl-isopropyl)- phenyl)-terephthalsäureester, Tetra-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-methan, Tetra-(4-(4- hydroxyphenyl-isopropyl)-phenoxy)-methan und 1 ,4-Bis-(4',4"-dihydroxytriphenyl)- methylbenzol, 2,4-Dihydroxybenzoesäure, Trimesinsäure, Cyanurchlorid, 3,3-Bis-(3- methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxo-2,3-dihydroindol, Trimesinsäuretrichlorid oder a,a‘,a ’-Tris- (4-hydroxyphenol)-1 ,3,5-triisopropylbenzol.
[0094] Very particularly preferred branching agents are 1,1,1-tris-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethane or 3,3-bis-(3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxo-2,3-dihydroindole.
[0095] The amount of branching agent to be used is preferably in the range of 0.05 mol% to 2 mol%, based on the moles of bisphenols used.
[0096] In the case of polycarbonate production by the interfacial process, the branching agents are preferably initially introduced with the bisphenols and the chain terminators in an aqueous alkaline phase, or dissolved in an organic solvent and added together with the carbonic acid derivatives. In the case of the transesterification process, the branching agents are preferably added together with the dihydroxyaromatics or bisphenols.

[0098] In a preferred embodiment, copolycarbonates can also be used as polyesters. Copolycarbonates within the meaning of the invention are, in particular, polydiorganosiloxane-polycarbonate block copolymers whose weight-average molar mass M wpreferably in the range from 10,000 to 200,000 g / mol, particularly preferably in the range from 20,000 to 80,000 g / mol, determined by gel chromatography in accordance with DIN EN ISO 16014-5:2012-10 after prior calibration by light scattering measurement or ultracentrifugation. The content of aromatic carbonate structural units in the polydiorganosiloxane-polycarbonate block copolymers is preferably in the range from 75 to 97.5 wt.%, particularly preferably in the range from 85 to 97 wt.%. The content of polydiorganosiloxane structural units in the polydiorganosiloxane-polycarbonate block copolymers is preferably in the range from 25 to 2.5 wt.%, particularly preferably in the range from 15 to 3 wt.%. The polydiorganosiloxane-polycarbonate block copolymers can preferably be prepared starting from a,o-bishydroxyaryloxy-end-group-containing polydiorganosiloxanes with an average degree of polymerization P n in the range of 5 to 100, particularly preferably with an average degree of polymerization Pn in the range of 20 to 80.
[0099] Polycarbonates particularly preferred for use as polyesters are the homopolycarbonate based on bisphenol A, the homopolycarbonate based on 1,1-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexane, and the copolycarbonates based on the two monomers bisphenol A and 1,1-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexane (= bisphenol TMC). Polycarbonates preferred for use as polyesters according to the invention are available, for example, under the Makrolon® brand from Covestro AG, Leverkusen.
[0100] In one embodiment, conventional additives, in particular mold release agents, can be mixed into the polycarbonates used as polyesters in the melt or applied to the surface. Preferably, the polycarbonates used as polyesters already contain mold release agents prior to subsequent compounding with the other components. Compounding (from English: compound = "mixture") is understood by those skilled in the art to be a term from plastics technology that is synonymous with plastics processing and describes the refinement of plastics by adding additives (fillers, additives, etc.) to specifically optimize the property profiles. See: https: / / de.wikipedia.org / wiki / Compoundierung. Compounding is preferably carried out in extruders, particularly preferably in co-rotating twin-screw extruders, counter-rotating twin-screw extruders,
[0101] Planetary roller extruders or co-kneaders and includes the process operations of conveying, melting, dispersing, mixing, degassing and pressure build-up.
[0102] In a preferred embodiment, blends of polycarbonate and polyalkylene terephthalates, which are also offered by Covestro AG under the Makroblend® brand, can also be used as polyesters. These are preferably PC-PET blends, PC-PBT blends, or PC-PCT-G blends, where PC stands for polycarbonate, PET for polyethylene terephthalate, PBT for polybutylene terephthalate, and PCT for polycyclohexylenedimethylene terephthalate.
[0103] According to the invention, an isomer mixture of 9,9'-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one, 9,10-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one and 10,10'-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one in a ratio of 1 : 1 : 0.8 - 1.5 to 1 : 1.5 : 0.8 - 1.5 with an average particle size d50 in the range from 1 to 12 pm, to be determined by laser diffractometry according to ISO 13320, is used as the orange dye or colorant. In contrast to the process according to Example 3 in EP 1 118 640 A1, this isomer mixture is obtainable by melting 300 g of phenol at 60°C and adding 45 g (285 mmol) of 1,8-diaminonaphthalene and 3.1 g of 2,6-lutidine (28.5 mmol) to it, and stirring the mixture for 30 minutes. Subsequently, 45 g (145 mmol) of 4,4-oxydiphthalic anhydride are added, and the reaction mixture is stirred for a further 30 minutes. The reaction mixture is then heated to 175°C and maintained at this temperature for 10 hours, during which time the resulting water of reaction is distilled off.295 g of methanol are then added to the reaction mixture at a temperature of 175°C, and the temperature of the reaction mixture is cooled to 30°C within one hour. The reaction product is isolated on a suction filter and then stirred in 300 g of phenol at 175°C for 45 minutes. 295 g of methanol are then added at a temperature of 175°C, and the temperature of the reaction mixture is cooled to 30°C within three hours. The reaction product is isolated on a suction filter and washed first with 440 g of methanol, then with 800 g of water, and dried in a vacuum drying cabinet at 80°C and 150 mbar. The isomer distribution and the average particle size d50 of the dye, which is present as an isomer mixture, are determined.
[0104] The present invention therefore also relates to the isomer mixture comprising 9,9'-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one, 9,10-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one and 10,10-oxybis-12H-phthaloperin-12-one in a ratio of 1:1:0.8-1.5 to 1:1.5:0.8-1.5, preferably with a particle size d50 in the range from 1 to 12 pm, to be determined by laser diffractometry according to ISO 13320.
[0105] The isomer mixture to be used as a colorant can be used directly as a powder, or in the form of a masterbatch, in the form of a compact or in the form of a concentrate, with masterbatches being preferred and masterbatches in a polyester matrix being particularly preferred.
[0106] Additional components
[0107] In a preferred embodiment, at least one filler or reinforcing material is used in the polymer compositions in addition to the polyester and the colorant. Mixtures of two or more different fillers and / or reinforcing materials can also be used.
[0108] Preferably, at least one filler or reinforcing material from the group consisting of carbon fibers [CAS No. 7440-44-0], glass beads or solid or hollow glass beads, or glass fibers, or ground glass, amorphous quartz glass, aluminum borosilicate glass with an alkali content of 1% (E-glass) [CAS No. 65997-17-3], amorphous silica [CAS No. 7631-86-9], quartz powder [CAS No. 14808-60-7], calcium silicate [CAS No. 1344-95-2], calcium metasilicate [CAS No. 10101-39-0], magnesium carbonate [CAS No. 546-93-0], kaolin [CAS No. 1332-58-7], calcined kaolin [CAS No. 92704-41-1], chalk [CAS No. 1317-65-3], kyanite [CAS No. 1302-76-7], powdered or ground quartz [CAS No. 14808-60-7], mica [CAS No. 1318-94-1], phlogopite [CAS No. 12251-00-2], barium sulfate [CAS No. 7727-43-7], feldspar [CAS No. 68476-25-5], wollastonite [CAS No. 13983-17-0], montmorillonite [CAS No. 67479-91-8], pseudoboehmite of the formula AlO(OH), magnesium carbonate [CAS No. 12125-28-9] and talc [CAS No. 14807-96-6] is used.
[0109] Among the fibrous fillers or reinforcing materials, glass fibers and wollastonite are particularly preferred, with glass fibers being most preferred. With regard to glass fibers, the expert distinguishes between chopped fibers, also known as short fibers, with a length in the range of 0.1 to 1 mm, long fibers with a length in the range of 1 to 50 mm, and continuous fibers with a length L > 50 mm. Short fibers are preferably used in injection molding technology and can be processed directly with an extruder. Long fibers can also be processed in extruders. They are used extensively in fiber injection molding. Long fibers are often added to thermosets as fillers. Continuous fibers are used as rovings or fabrics in fiber-reinforced plastics. Products with continuous fibers achieve the highest stiffness and strength values.Furthermore, milled glass fibers are offered, the length of which after milling is typically in the range of 70 to 200 pm.
[0110] Glass fibers preferably used as fillers or reinforcing materials according to the invention are chopped long glass fibers with an average initial length, determined by laser diffraction particle size analysis (laser granulometric measurement or laser diffractometry) in accordance with ISO 13320, in the range of 1 to 50 mm, particularly preferably in the range of 1 to 10 mm, and very particularly preferably in the range of 2 to 7 mm. For laser diffraction particle size determination / laser diffractometry in accordance with ISO 13320, see: https: / / de.wikipedia.org / wiki / Laserbeugungs-Partikelgr%C3%B6%C3%9Fenanalyse. Due to processing into the molding compound (compounding) or into the product, particularly in the injection molding process, the glass fibers may have a smaller d90 or d50 value in the molding compound or in the product than the glass fibers originally used. Thus, the arithmetic mean value of the glass fiber length after processing is often only in the range of 150 pm to 300 pm, which is why the length, width and diameter data given in this description for fillers and reinforcing materials, in particular for glass fibers, refer to the state before any processing, in particular before compounding or before processing, in particular by injection molding.
[0111] Preferred glass fibers to be used as filler or reinforcing material have an average fiber diameter determined by laser diffractometry according to ISO 13320 in the range from 7 to 18 pm, particularly preferably in the range from 9 to 15 pm.
[0112] In a preferred embodiment, the glass fibers preferably used as fillers or reinforcing materials are treated with a suitable sizing system or adhesion promoter. A silane-based sizing system or adhesion promoter is preferably used.
[0113] Flame retardants
[0114] In a preferred embodiment, at least one flame retardant is used in the polymer compositions in addition to the polyester and the colorant. Preferred flame retardants are mineral flame retardants, nitrogen-containing flame retardants, or phosphorus-containing flame retardants.
[0115] Among mineral flame retardants, magnesium hydroxide is particularly preferred. Magnesium hydroxide [CAS No. 1309-42-8] can be contaminated due to its origin and method of production. Typical impurities include silicon-, iron-, calcium-, and / or aluminum-containing species, which can be embedded, for example, in the form of oxides in the magnesium hydroxide crystals. [0170] Examples
[0171] To demonstrate the improvements in properties described in the invention, corresponding polyester-based polymer compositions were first prepared by compounding. The individual components were mixed in a twin-screw extruder (Leistritz LSM 30-34 from Leistritz AG (Nuremberg, Germany)) at temperatures between 270 and 300°C, extruded as a strand, cooled to pelletizable condition, and pelletized. After drying (typically two days at 80°C in a vacuum drying cabinet), the pellets were processed by injection molding at temperatures between 270 and 290°C to form standard test specimens for the respective tests.
[0172] In the context of the present invention, the different isomer distributions, determined via HPLC (high pressure liquid chromatography), were used as a measure of the color brilliance of the molding compounds described in Table I in the form of 60*40*2 mm 3- Determine the C* value of the plates according to DIN EN ISO 11664-4 using a d / 8° spectrophotometer in a coloristic measurement (D65 standard illuminant, CIE 1976 L*a*b* color space). Furthermore, the mean particle size d50 according to ISO 13320 was to be determined as a measure of the reduction of color streaks. HPLC is a liquid chromatography technique that not only separates substances but also identifies and quantifies them (determines the exact concentration) using standards. [0186] 300 g of phenol were melted at 60°C. 45 g (285 mmol) of 1,8-diaminonaphthalene and 3.1 g of 2,6-lutidine (28.5 mmol) were added, and the mixture was stirred for 30 minutes. 45 g (145 mmol) of 4,4-oxydiphthalic anhydride were then added, and the reaction mixture was stirred for a further 30 minutes. The reaction mixture was then heated to 175°C and held at this temperature for 10 hours, and the resulting water of reaction was distilled off. 295 g of methanol were then added to the reaction mixture at 175°C, and the reaction mixture was cooled to 30°C over the course of one hour. The reaction product was isolated on a suction filter and then stirred in 300 g of phenol at 175°C for 45 minutes. 295 g of methanol were then added at a temperature of 175°C and the temperature of the reaction mixture was cooled to 30°C within three hours. The reaction product was isolated on a suction filter and washed first with 440 g of methanol and then with 800 g of water, and dried in a vacuum drying cabinet at 80°C and 150 mbar. The isomer distribution of the dye was determined to be 1:1, 2:1, and the average particle size d50 was 5 pm.
[0187] Determination of (color) brilliance according to DIN EN ISO 11664-4
[0188] To determine the (color) brilliance according to DIN EN ISO 11664-4, samples of the isomer mixtures from synthesis procedure 1 and synthesis procedure 2 were subjected to a coloristic measurement. For this purpose, polybutylene terephthalate granules colored with 1 wt.% titanium dioxide were dried in a circulating air dryer at 120°C for 4 hours. 1 kg of this granule was mixed with 0.20 wt.% of the colorant to be tested from synthesis procedure 1 and from synthesis procedure 2, and this mixture was extruded at a melt temperature of 280°C using a twin-screw extruder and then re-granulated. The respective colored granules were dried at 120°C for 4 hours and sample plates measuring 4cm x 6cm x 0.2cm were produced from the respective dried, colored granules on an injection molding machine at 230 to 270°C melt temperature, 10 bar back pressure and 80°C mold temperature. After at least ten spray cycles, sample plates were removed for color measurement and allowed to rest at room temperature for at least 1 hour. Remission measurements were then taken from the sample plates using a d / 8° spectrophotometer. An improvement in (color) brilliance within the meaning of the present invention was present if the AC* compared to a comparison measurement based on a preparation outside the claimed isomer ratio was > 1, because even an AC* of 1 is visible to the naked eye.
