AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Engines in dusty environments, such as mining, face damage and high maintenance costs due to airborne particles, leading to operational inefficiencies and revenue losses.
Method used
An airflow monitoring system using a particle sensor to detect airborne particle concentrations, triggering alerts or placing the engine in safe mode if thresholds are exceeded, ensuring filtered air quality is maintained.
Benefits of technology
The system effectively reduces engine damage and maintenance costs by alerting operators to potential issues and automatically switching to safe mode when high particle concentrations are detected, preventing further damage.

Abstract
An airflow monitoring arrangement for monitoring filtered air of a system which transports or utilises the filtered air. The airflow monitoring arrangement includes a sensor which is configured to monitor / measure a presence or concentration of airborne particles within an airflow of the filtered air of the system. The arrangement may include a controller which is, in use, operatively connected to the system. The controller may be configured to place the system in a safe mode or a limp mode, if the concentration of the airborne particles measured by the sensor remains above a particular upper level for more than a certain specified period of time. The system may include an engine.
