Description

Polypropylene resin composition and molded article manufactured therefrom

[0001] The present invention relates to a polypropylene resin composition and a molded article manufactured therefrom. More specifically, the present invention relates to a polypropylene resin composition using recycled polypropylene resin, which is environmentally friendly, exhibits excellent impact resistance, rigidity, and appearance properties, and reduces odor-causing components and volatile organic compounds, and to a molded article manufactured therefrom.

[0002]

[0003] Polypropylene resin has excellent chemical resistance, weather resistance, and processability, making it easy to manufacture into injection molded products, films, and blow molded products. It is a widely used material in fields such as electrical components, automobiles, and building materials.

[0004] In response to environmental issues such as carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction, there is a growing demand for the development of recycled plastics that recycle used thermoplastic resins such as polypropylene resin.

[0005] However, recycled plastics are subject to long-term, everyday use, oxidation, and repeated thermal processing, resulting in deterioration of mechanical properties compared to conventional plastic materials (thermoplastic resin compositions). Furthermore, during the oxidation, reprocessing, and multiple extrusion processes of recycled plastics, low-molecular-weight substances and polar substances remain in the product, which can act as volatile substances and odor-causing ingredients, leading to off-flavor and color changes in the final product.

[0006] Therefore, there is a need to develop a polypropylene resin composition that is environmentally friendly using recycled polypropylene resin, has excellent impact resistance, rigidity, and appearance characteristics even when using recycled polypropylene resin, and can reduce odor-causing components and volatile organic compounds.

[0026]

[0027] The present invention has the effect of providing a polypropylene resin composition using recycled polypropylene resin, which is environmentally friendly, has excellent impact resistance, rigidity, and appearance properties, and can reduce odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds, and a molded article formed therefrom.

[0028]

[0029] Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail as follows.

[0030] A polypropylene resin composition according to the present invention comprises (A) a polypropylene resin; (B) a recycled polypropylene resin; (C) a maleic anhydride modified polypropylene; (D) glass fiber; (E) magnesium silicate; and (F) zeolite.

[0031] In this specification, “a to b” indicating a numerical range is defined as “≥a and ≤b”.

[0032]

[0033] (A) Polypropylene resin

[0034] According to one specific example of the present invention, a polypropylene resin can be applied together with maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene, glass fiber, magnesium silicate and zeolite to improve the eco-friendliness, impact resistance, rigidity, appearance characteristics, etc. of a polypropylene resin composition, and reduce odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds, even when applying a recycled polypropylene resin to impart eco-friendliness, and a polypropylene resin (new material) applied to a typical thermoplastic resin composition can be used.

[0035] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin may include at least one of a homopolypropylene resin, a block polypropylene resin, and a random polypropylene resin. Here, the block polypropylene resin may be a block polypropylene resin composed of a homopolypropylene block and an ethylene-propylene copolymer block and / or a homopolyethylene block, and the random polypropylene resin may be a propylene-ethylene random copolymer.

[0036] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin may have a melt flow index (MI) of about 10 to about 1,500 g / 10 min, for example, about 15 to about 1,400 g / 10 min, measured under conditions of 230°C and a load of 2.16 kg according to ASTM D1238. Within this range, the mechanical properties, moldability, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be excellent.

[0037] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin may be included in an amount of about 30 to about 70 wt%, for example, about 35 to about 65 wt%, of 100 wt% of the base material composed of the polypropylene resin and the recycled polypropylene resin. When the content of the polypropylene resin is less than about 30 wt%, of 100 wt% of the base material, there is a concern that the impact resistance, rigidity, appearance characteristics, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may deteriorate, and the effect of reducing odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds may deteriorate. When it exceeds about 70 wt%, there is a concern that the environmental friendliness, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may deteriorate.

[0038]

[0039] (B) Regenerated polypropylene resin

[0040] According to one specific example of the present invention, a recycled polypropylene resin is applied to a polypropylene resin composition as a recycled material to impart environmental friendliness, and is applied together with the polypropylene resin (new material), maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene, glass fiber, magnesium silicate, and zeolite to improve the environmental friendliness, impact resistance, rigidity, appearance characteristics, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition, and to reduce odor-causing components and volatile organic compounds, and a conventional recycled polypropylene resin can be used.

[0041] In a specific example, the recycled polypropylene resin may have a melt-flow index (MI) of about 10 to about 150 g / 10 min, for example, about 20 to about 80 g / 10 min, measured under conditions of 230°C and a load of 2.16 kg according to ASTM D1238. Within this range, the polypropylene resin composition may have excellent rigidity, impact resistance, and the like.

[0042] In a specific example, the recycled polypropylene resin may be included in an amount of about 30 to about 70 wt%, for example, about 35 to about 65 wt%, based on 100 wt% of the base material made of the polypropylene resin and the recycled polypropylene resin. If the content of the polypropylene resin is less than about 30 wt%, based on 100 wt% of the base material, there is a concern that the environmental friendliness of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced, and if it exceeds about 70 wt%, there is a concern that the impact resistance, rigidity, appearance characteristics, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced, and the effect of reducing odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds may be reduced.

[0043]

[0044] (C) Maleic anhydride modified polypropylene

[0045] According to one specific example of the present invention, maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene can be applied to the polypropylene resin and the recycled polypropylene resin together with glass fiber, magnesium silicate and zeolite to improve the eco-friendliness, impact resistance, rigidity and appearance properties of the polypropylene resin composition, and reduce odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds. Maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene obtained by (grafting) polymerizing maleic anhydride onto polypropylene can be used.

[0046] In a specific example, the maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene may have a graft ratio of maleic anhydride of about 0.5 to about 5 wt%, for example, 0.6 to 2 wt%. Within this range, the rigidity, impact resistance, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be excellent.

[0047] In a specific example, the maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene may have a melt-flow index of about 50 to about 200 g / 10 min, for example, about 70 to about 150 g / 10 min, measured under conditions of 230°C and a load of 2.16 kg according to ASTM D1238. Within this range, the polypropylene resin composition may have excellent rigidity, impact resistance, and the like.

[0048] In a specific example, the maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene may be included in an amount of about 0.5 to about 5 parts by weight, for example, about 1 to about 4.5 parts by weight, based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material. If the content of the maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene is less than about 0.5 parts by weight based on about 100 parts by weight of the polypropylene resin, there is a concern that the impact resistance, rigidity, appearance characteristics, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be deteriorated, and if it exceeds about 5 parts by weight, there is a concern that the appearance characteristics, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be deteriorated.

[0049]

[0050] (D) Glass fiber

[0051] According to one specific example of the present invention, glass fibers can be applied to the polypropylene resin and the recycled polypropylene resin together with maleic anhydride modified polypropylene, magnesium silicate and zeolite, thereby improving the eco-friendliness, impact resistance, rigidity and appearance properties of the polypropylene resin composition and reducing odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds. Long glass fibers having a cross-sectional diameter of about 5 to about 20 ㎛ can be used.

[0052] In specific embodiments, the glass fibers may be in the form of fibers and may have various cross-sections such as circular, oval, rectangular, etc. For example, it may be preferable in terms of mechanical properties to use fibrous glass fibers having circular and / or rectangular cross-sections.

[0053] In a specific example, the glass fiber may have a cross-sectional diameter of about 5 to about 20 μm, for example, about 7 to about 15 μm, as measured by a scanning electron microscope (SEM). If the diameter exceeds the above range, there is a risk that the impact resistance, rigidity, dimensional stability, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced.

[0054] In a specific example, the glass fiber may be treated with a conventional surface treatment agent. The surface treatment agent may include, but is not limited to, a silane compound, a urethane compound, an epoxy compound, or the like.

[0055] In a specific example, the glass fiber may be cut to have a length corresponding to the size of the thermoplastic resin composition (e.g., about 10 mm), depending on the shape (pellet, etc.) and size of the thermoplastic resin composition, and in a molded product processed therefrom, the length may vary depending on the type of the molded product, but may have an average length of about 2 mm.

[0056] In a specific example, the glass fiber may be included in an amount of about 30 to about 60 parts by weight, for example, about 35 to about 55 parts by weight, based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material. If the content of the glass fiber is less than about 30 parts by weight based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material, there is a concern that the impact resistance, rigidity, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be deteriorated, and if it exceeds about 60 parts by weight, there is a concern that the appearance properties, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be deteriorated.

[0057]

[0058] (E) magnesium silicate

[0059] Magnesium silicate according to one specific example of the present invention can be applied to the polypropylene resin and the recycled polypropylene resin together with maleic anhydride modified polypropylene, glass fiber and zeolite to improve the eco-friendliness, impact resistance, rigidity, appearance characteristics, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition and reduce odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds, and magnesium silicate used in a typical thermoplastic resin composition can be used.

[0060] In a specific example, the magnesium silicate may have an average particle size of about 10 to about 40 μm, for example, about 13 to about 36 μm. Within this range, odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds of the polypropylene resin composition can be reduced. Here, the average particle size of the magnesium silicate was determined by obtaining a particle size distribution using a laser diffraction scattering method, and the particle diameter at 50% of the accumulated value was used as the average particle size.

[0061] In a specific example, the magnesium silicate may be included in an amount of about 1 to about 3 parts by weight, for example, about 1.5 to about 2.5 parts by weight, based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material. If the content of the magnesium silicate is less than about 1 part by weight based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material, there is a concern that the effect of reducing the odor-inducing component of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced, and if it exceeds about 3 parts by weight, there is a concern that the appearance characteristics of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced.

[0062]

[0063] (F) Zeolite

[0064] Zeolite according to one specific example of the present invention is applied to the polypropylene resin and the recycled polypropylene resin together with maleic anhydride modified polypropylene, glass fiber and magnesium silicate, thereby improving the eco-friendliness, impact resistance, rigidity and appearance properties of the polypropylene resin composition and reducing odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds. Zeolite used in a typical thermoplastic resin composition can be used.

[0065] In a specific example, the zeolite may be a porous particle having a pore size of about 0.1 to about 0.8 nm, for example, about 0.3 to about 0.6 nm, and an average particle size of about 0.5 to about 6 μm, for example, about 1 to about 5 μm. Within this range, the rigidity, impact resistance, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be excellent. Here, the average particle size of the zeolite was determined by obtaining a particle size distribution using a laser diffraction scattering method, and then the particle diameter at 50% of the accumulated value was taken as the average particle size.

[0066] In a specific example, the zeolite may be included in an amount of about 1 to about 6 parts by weight, for example, about 1.5 to about 5.5 parts by weight, based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material. If the content of the zeolite is less than about 1 part by weight based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material, there is a concern that the impact resistance of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced, and the effect of reducing odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds may be reduced. If it exceeds about 6 parts by weight, there is a concern that the impregnation and appearance properties of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced.

[0067] In a specific example, the weight ratio of the magnesium silicate and the zeolite may be about 1:0.5 to about 1:4, for example, about 1:1 to about 1:2.5. When the weight ratio of the magnesium silicate and the zeolite is less than about 1:0.5, there is a concern that the effect of reducing odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced, and when it exceeds about 1:4, there is a concern that the appearance characteristics of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced.

[0068]

[0069] A polypropylene resin composition according to one embodiment of the present invention may further include additives included in conventional thermoplastic resin compositions. Examples of such additives include, but are not limited to, antioxidants, impact modifiers, flame retardants, anti-drip agents, release agents, nucleating agents, UV stabilizers, pigments, dyes, and mixtures thereof.

[0070] In a specific example, when the additive is used, the content may be about 0.001 to about 40 parts by weight, for example, about 0.1 to about 10 parts by weight, based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material.

[0071]

[0072] A polypropylene resin composition according to one specific example of the present invention may be in the form of pellets obtained by mixing the above components and melt-extruding them at about 180 to about 320°C, for example, about 240 to about 300°C, using a conventional twin-screw extruder.

[0073] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin composition may have a content of the recycled polypropylene resin of about 20 to about 50 wt%, for example, about 22 to about 45 wt%, based on 100 wt% of the total polypropylene resin composition. Within this range, the polypropylene resin composition may have excellent environmental friendliness, impact resistance, rigidity, and a balance of physical properties thereof, and may reduce odor-causing components and volatile organic compounds.

[0074] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin composition may have a notched Izod impact strength of about 10 to about 20 kgf·cm / cm, for example, about 10.2 to about 16.5 kgf·cm / cm, of a 1 / 8" thick specimen measured according to ASTM D256.

[0075] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin composition has a tensile strength of about 850 to about 1,150 kgf / cm of a 3.2 mm thick specimen measured under conditions of 50 mm / min according to ASTM D638. 2 , for example, about 870 to about 1,120 kgf / cm 2 It could be.

[0076] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin composition has a flexural strength of about 1,200 to about 1,700 kgf / cm of a 6.4 mm thick specimen measured under conditions of 2.8 mm / min according to ASTM D790. 2 , for example, about 1,220 to about 1,650 kgf / cm 2 It could be.

[0077] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin composition may have a total volatile organic compound (TVOC) detection area value of about 300 to about 600 area / g, for example, about 310 to about 550 area / g, of a 2 g sample collected at 120°C for 60 minutes using HS-SPME GC / MS.

[0078] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin composition is measured under 80°C / 2 hr and B3 (dry) conditions according to VDA 270, with a specimen length of 40 cm. 3 / 2L may have an odor rating of 3 to 3.5.

[0079]

[0080] The molded article according to the present invention is formed from the polypropylene resin composition. The polypropylene resin composition can be manufactured in the form of pellets, and the manufactured pellets can be manufactured into various molded articles (products) through various molding methods such as injection molding, extrusion molding, vacuum molding, and casting molding. [0132] From the above results, it can be seen that the polypropylene resin composition of the present invention is environmentally friendly and has excellent impact resistance (notched Izod impact strength), rigidity (tensile strength, flexural strength), and appearance characteristics by using a recycled polypropylene resin in a certain amount or more (20 wt% or more of the total composition). In addition, it can be seen that odor-causing components and volatile organic compounds can be reduced.

[0133] On the other hand, when the content of the polypropylene resin is less than the range of the present invention and the content of the recycled polypropylene resin exceeds the range of the present invention (Comparative Example 1), it can be seen that the impact resistance, rigidity, appearance characteristics, etc. are deteriorated, and the effect of reducing odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds is deteriorated. In addition, when the content of the polypropylene resin exceeds the range of the present invention and the content of the recycled polypropylene resin is less than the range of the present invention (Comparative Example 2), it can be seen that the content of the recycled polypropylene resin is about 16 wt% of the total composition, which is not suitable for the present invention aimed at environmental friendliness. In the case of Comparative Example 3, where the content of maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene is less than the range of the present invention, it can be seen that impact resistance, rigidity, appearance characteristics, etc. are deteriorated. In the case of Comparative Example 4, where the content of maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene is more than the range of the present invention, it can be seen that appearance characteristics, etc. are deteriorated. In the case of Comparative Example 5, where the content of glass fiber is less than the range of the present invention, it can be seen that impact resistance, rigidity, etc. are deteriorated. In the case of Comparative Example 6, where the content of glass fiber is more than the range of the present invention, it can be seen that appearance characteristics, etc. are deteriorated. In the case of Comparative Example 7, where the content of magnesium silicate is less than the range of the present invention, it can be seen that the effect of reducing odor-inducing components is reduced, and in the case of Comparative Example 8, where the content of magnesium silicate is more than the range of the present invention, it can be seen that the appearance characteristics, etc. are reduced, and in the case of Comparative Example 9, where the content of zeolite is less than the range of the present invention, it can be seen that the impact resistance, etc. is reduced, and the effect of reducing odor-inducing components and volatile organic compounds is reduced, and in the case of Comparative Example 10, where the content of zeolite is more than the range of the present invention, it can be seen that the appearance characteristics, etc. are reduced, and it was confirmed that the impregnation characteristics, etc. are reduced. In addition, even if the contents of magnesium silicate and zeolite are within the range of the present invention, in the case of Comparative Example 11, where the weight ratio of magnesium silicate and zeolite is more than the range of the present invention (about 1:6), it can be seen that the appearance characteristics, etc. are reduced, and in the case of Comparative Example 11, where the weight ratio of magnesium silicate and zeolite is more than the range of the present invention (about 1:0.25) In the case of Comparative Example 12, it can be seen that the reduction effect of odor-causing components and volatile organic compounds is reduced.
