[0042] In some embodiments, the communications in the communication network 100 may comprise sidelink communication. Sidelink communication is a wireless radio communication directly between two or more terminal devices, such as two or more terminal devices among the first terminal device 110, the second terminal device 120 and the third terminal device 130. In this type of communication, the two or more terminal devices that are geographically proximate to each other can directly communicate without going through the network device 140 or 150 or through a core network. Data transmission in sidelink communication is thus different from typical cellular network communications, in which a terminal device transmits data to the network device 140 or 150 (i.e., uplink transmissions) or receives data from the network device 140 or 150 (i.e., downlink transmissions) . In sidelink communication, data is transmitted directly from a source terminal device (such as the first terminal device 110) to a target terminal device (such as the second terminal device 120) through the Unified Air Interface, e.g., PC5 interface, (i.e., sidelink transmissions) , as shown in Fig. 1.

[0043] Sidelink communication can provide several advantages, including reducing data transmission load on a core network, system resource consumption, transmission power consumption, and network operation costs, saving wireless spectrum resources, and increasing spectrum efficiency of a cellular wireless communication system.

[0044] In a sidelink communication system, the sidelink resource is used to transmit information between terminal devices. According to application scenarios, service types, etc., a sidelink communication manner includes but is not limited to device to device (D2D) communication, Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication, etc.

[0045] V2X communication enables vehicles to communicate with other vehicles (i.e. Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication) , with infrastructure (i.e. Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) , with wireless networks (i.e. Vehicle-to-Network (V2N) communication) , with pedestrians (i.e. Vehicle-to-Pedestrian (V2P) communication) , and even with the owner's  home (i.e. Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) ) . Examples of infrastructure include roadside units such as traffic lights, toll gates and the like. V2X communication can be used in a wide range of scenarios, including in accident prevention and safety, convenience, traffic efficiency and clean driving, and ultimately in relation to autonomous or self-driving vehicles.

[0046] For sidelink communications, a terminal device uses resources in sidelink resource pools to transmit or receive signals. The sidelink resource pools include resources in time domain and frequency domain, which are dedicated resources of the sidelink communication, or shared by the sidelink communication and a cellular link. For sidelink communications, two modes of resource allocation may be used for sidelink, including network device schedules sidelink resources for terminal devices to perform sidelink signal transmission, named as mode 1 resource scheme in NR sidelink or mode 3 resource scheme in LTE sidelink, and terminal device selects sidelink resources by itself to perform sidelink signal transmission, named as mode 2 resource scheme in NR sidelink or mode 4 resource scheme in LTE sidelink.

[0047] Fig. 2 illustrates an example of a timing resource allocation in a sidelink resource pool in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, the sidelink resource pool may comprise an NR sidelink resource pool. In such embodiments, the sidelink resource pool may be defined within a sidelink bandwidth part (BWP) . The first terminal device 110, the second terminal device 120 and the third terminal device 130 may use uplink (UL) resources for sidelink communications. More than one sidelink resource pools may be configured for one of the first terminal device 110, the second terminal device 120 and the third terminal device 130. A dedicated resource pool may be used for mode 1 resource scheme or mode 2 resource scheme, short for mode 1 resource pool or mode 2 resource pool. For LTE sidelink, a dedicated resource pool may be used for mode 3 resource scheme or mode 4 resource scheme, short for mode 3 resource pool or mode 4 resource pool. Resources within the sidelink resource pool may comprise Physical Sidelink Control Channel (PSCCH) resources, Physical Sidelink Shared Channel (PSSCH) resources and physical sidelink feedback channel (PSFCH) resources. A bitmap may be used to indicate which UL slots are configured as sidelink slots. A length of the bitmap may be in a range of 10 to 160.

[0048] Fig. 3 illustrates an example of a symbol allocation in a sidelink slot in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the sidelink resource pool which may contain multiple slots and resource blocks (RBs) , and all or part of the symbols in a slot can be used for sidelink transmission. Within a slot assigned for sidelink, symbols could be used for sidelink communication are assigned through sl-LengthSymbols and sl- StartSymbol, sl-StartSymbol indicates the start symbol for sidelink and sl-LengthSymbols indicates the number of symbols assigned for sidelink in a slot. Within the resource pool, among all the symbols configured for sidelink in each slot, the first symbol (i.e., the start symbol) is used as the automatic gain control (AGC) symbol, and the last symbol used as a guard period (GP) symbol. AGC symbols and GP symbols can be considered as fixed overheads in sidelink resource. In the description of the following embodiments, AGC symbols and GP symbols are included in the sidelink symbols which are indicated by the sidelink channel resource configuration, and AGC symbols carry redundancy sidelink information while GP symbols are not used for carrying sidelink information, as shown in Fig. 3.

[0049] The first terminal device 110, the second terminal device 120 and the third terminal device 130 may use sidelink channels to transmit sidelink signaling or information. The sidelink channels include at least one of the following: a PSCCH resource which is used for carrying sidelink control information (SCI) , a PSSCH resource which is used for carrying sidelink data service information, a PSFCH resource which is used for carrying sidelink Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) feedback information, a physical sidelink broadcast channel (PSBCH) resource which is used for carrying sidelink broadcast information, and a physical sidelink discovery channel (PSDCH) resource which is used for carrying a sidelink discovery signal.

[0050] As mentioned above, a number of RBs are configured or pre-configured as a PSCCH resource in NR sidelink. Fig. 4 illustrates an example of a PSCCH resource in a frequency resource scheme for sidelink on licensed spectrum in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in Fig. 4, a resource pool may be configured within a SL Bandwidth Part (BWP) . A resource pool configuration may comprise sl-StartRB-Subchannel and sl-RB-Number. The sl-StartRB-Subchannel may indicate the lowest RB of the resource pool. The lowest RB is also referred to as a start RB. The sl-RB-Number may indicate the total number of RBs of the resource pool.

[0051] RBs in the resource pool may be divided into consecutive sub-channels. Sub-channel is a frequency resource unit of PSSCH. Each sub-channel contains consecutive RBs. A terminal device may use one or more consecutive sub-channels as a PSSCH resource to transmit sidelink data. A sub-channel configuration of the resource pool may comprise sl-SubchannelSize which indicates the number of RBs contained in one sub-channel. The SubchannelSize may be equal to 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 50, 75 or 100.

[0052] A PSCCH resource may be defined within each sub-channel. Each PSCCH  resource may include t consecutive symbols in time domain and k consecutive RBs in frequency domain. The t symbols may start from the first symbol in the available symbols in the time domain. For example, t may be equal to 2 or 3. The k RBs may start from the lowest RB in the corresponding sub-channel. For example, k may be equal to 10, 12, 15, 20, or 25.

[0053] Fig. 5 illustrates an example of feedback channel resources in time domain in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Within a resource pool, whether a PSFCH resource is available should be configured or pre-configured. In time domain, according to the configuration or pre-configuration of a resource pool, one of every N slots in the resource pool contains PSFCH resources, N= [0, 1, 2, 4] . In a sidelink resource pool, PSCCH or PSSCH resources are presented in every slot and used for transmitting sidelink data packet. Within a slot containing a PSFCH resource, the last three SL symbols (AGC+PSFCH+GP) are used for PSFCH related, as shown in Fig. 5.

[0054] A PSFCH resource may comprise one RB in frequency domain and one symbol in time domain (AGC symbol is repeated) . In addition, the PSFCH resource may carry 1 bit ACK / NACK information. Furthermore, the PSFCH resource may be related to one sub-channel in one slot.

[0055] MCSt uses physical consecutive slots, instead of logical consecutive slots within a resource pool. To perform MCSt, a terminal device should access channel and transmit sidelink signals on adjacent slots without an additional Listen Before Talk (LBT) procedure.

[0056] Based on the relevant schemes of Cyclic Prefix Extension (CPE) , MCSt, resource pool allocation, and sidelink channel configuration of SL-U, it may be non-consecutive between transmissions on adjacent sidelink slots. For example, if a gap between the adjacent sidelink slots is greater than two symbols, the gap may cause interruption of channel occupancy. This will be described with reference to Fig. 6.

[0057] Fig. 6 illustrates examples of a gap greater than two symbols in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0058] In an example (a) of Fig. 6, the gap is caused by allocation of slots for sidelink transmission. Hereinafter, a slot allocated for sidelink transmission is also referred to as a sidelink slot for brevity. In this case, slots #n and #n+1 can be used for MCSt, while slot #n+1 and the next sidelink slot #n+3 (logical consecutive slots within a sidelink resource pool) may not be used for MCSt.

[0059] In an example (b) of Fig. 6, the gap is caused by allocation of symbols for sidelink transmission. Hereinafter, a symbol allocated for sidelink transmission is also referred to as  a sidelink symbol for brevity. According to the allocation of symbols for sidelink transmission, the number of symbols in a slot used for sidelink may be [7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14] . Thus, not all the symbols are configured or pre-configured as sidelink symbol in a slot, which may cause a gap between adjacent slots for sidelink.

[0060] In an example (c) of Fig. 6, the gap is caused by PSFCH configuration. For a terminal device transmitting sidelink signals on PSCCH or PSSCH, a gap between adjacent slots for sidelink transmission may comprise a PSFCH symbol as well as the relevant AGC symbol and GP symbol.

[0061] With the above examples, a terminal device transmitting sidelink signals may lose the channel occupancy as other nodes can access the channel using LBT procedure during the gap, and the MCSt of the terminal device may fail.

[0062] In order to solve the above and other potential problems, in a first aspect, embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for sidelink communications. In the solution, a first terminal device determines a resource for sidelink transmission based on a sidelink resource allocation. The resource comprises a first number of physical consecutive slots. Then, the first terminal device transmits a sidelink signal on the resource. In this way, sidelink transmission on the physical consecutive slots may be achieved.

[0063] Fig. 7 illustrates a flowchart of an example method in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, the method 700 can be implemented at a communication device, such as one of the first terminal device 110, the second terminal device 120 and the third terminal device 130 as shown in Fig. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 700 will be described with reference to Fig. 1 as performed by the first terminal device 110 without loss of generality.

[0064] At block 710, the first terminal device 110 determines a resource for sidelink transmission based on a sidelink resource allocation. The resource comprises a first number of physical consecutive slots. Hereinafter, the first number is represented by KMCSt.

[0065] At block 720, the first terminal device 110 transmits a sidelink signal on the resource.

[0066] In some embodiments, the resource for sidelink transmission determined at block 710 is used for MCSt.

[0067] In some embodiments, the sidelink transmission may include but is not limited to MCSt. Hereinafter, some embodiments of the present disclosure will be described by taking MCSt as an example of the sidelink transmission.

[0068] In some embodiments, the sidelink resource allocation may comprise at least one  of the following:

[0069] ● allocation of resource pool for sidelink transmission;

[0070] ● allocation of slots for sidelink transmission,

[0071] ● allocation of symbols for sidelink transmission,

[0072] ● allocation of a starting symbol for sidelink transmission,

[0073] ● allocation of sub-channels for sidelink transmission,

[0074] ● allocation of a set of CPE length for sidelink transmission, or

[0075] ● allocation of PSFCH resources.

[0076] In some embodiments, some restrictions may be set for MCSt to avoid introducing a gap greater than two symbols between slots assigned for MCSt. In this way, CPE can be used for filling a gap between adjacent slots, and a CPE length is less than two symbols. Setting the restrictions may guarantee that the gap between slots for MCSt will not be no more than two symbols (for example, available maximum CPE length) . Hereinafter, embodiments of the restrictions will be described.

[0077] In some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may define a set of candidate multi-slot resources. Each of the candidate multi-slot resources comprises the first number of physical consecutive slots, and the first number of physical consecutive slots are comprised within a resource pool for sidelink transmission. In turn, the first terminal device 110 may determine the resource as a first candidate multi-slot resource in the set.

[0078] In some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may define candidate resource for MCSt with physical consecutive slots in different ways.

[0079] In some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may define the first candidate multi-slot resource as a same set of sub-channel in each slot of the first number of physical consecutive slots. In other words, the first terminal device 110 may select the same set of sub-channel in each slot of the first number of physical consecutive slots.

[0080] For example, the first terminal device 110 may determine the resource for sidelink transmission by performing a mode 2 resource selection procedure. In the mode 2 resource selection procedure, a candidate multi-slot resource for transmission Rx, y is defined as a set of LsubCH contiguous sub-channels with sub-channel x+j in slot where j = 0, ..., LsubCH-1, k=0, …, KMCSt-1. The first terminal device 110 shall assume that any set of LsubCH contiguous sub-channels included in the corresponding resource pool within the time interval [n+T1, n+T2] correspond to one candidate multi-slot resource for the first terminal device 110 performing full sensing, in a set of Y candidate slots within the time  interval [n+T1, n+T2] for the first terminal device 110 performing periodic-based partial sensing correspond to one candidate multi-slot resource, or in a set of Y' candidate slots within the time interval [n+T1, n+T2] for the first terminal device 110 performing contiguous partial sensing if Prsvp_TX=0, correspond to one candidate multi-slot resource, …, where slot are physical consecutive slots, k=0, …, KMCSt-1.

[0081] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may define the first candidate multi-slot resource as an independent set of sub-channel in each of the first number of physical consecutive slots. In other words, the first terminal device 110 may select an independent set of sub-channel in each of the first number of physical consecutive slots. For example, the first terminal device 110 may select different sets of sub-channels in the first number of physical consecutive slots.

[0082] For example, the first terminal device 110 may determine the resource for sidelink transmission by performing a mode 2 resource selection procedure. In the mode 2 resource selection procedure, a candidate multi-slot resource for transmission is defined as a set of LsubCH contiguous sub-channels with sub-channel xk+j in slot where j=0, ..., LsubCH-1, k=0, …, KMCSt-1.

[0083] As described with reference to the example (b) of Fig. 6, the gap may be caused by allocation of symbols for sidelink transmission. In some embodiments, when the allocation of symbols for sidelink transmission satisfies the following restriction, MCSt can be used.

[0084] In some embodiments, the allocation of symbols for sidelink transmission may comprise a second number of symbols in a slot for sidelink transmission. Hereinafter, the second number is represented by sl-LengthSymbols.

[0085] If Subcarrier Spacing (SCS) is equal to 15kHz and the sl-LengthSymbols is equal  to 14 for normal Cyclic Prefix (NCP) or the sl-LengthSymbols is equal to 12 for extended CP (ECP) , the first terminal device 110 may determine the resource as the first number of physical consecutive slots which are comprised within a resource pool for sidelink transmission.

[0086] In turn, the first terminal device 110 may transmit a CPE on one symbol before a starting symbol for sidelink in each of the physical consecutive slots. In some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may transmit a CPE on one symbol before a starting symbol for sidelink in each of the physical consecutive slots except an initial slot among the physical consecutive slots. Alternatively, in some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may transmit a CPE on one symbol between every two adjacent slots among the physical consecutive slots.

[0087] Alternatively, if SCS is equal to 30kHz or 60kHz and the sl-LengthSymbols is equal to or greater than 13 for NCP, or the sl-LengthSymbols is equal to or greater than 11 for ECP, the first terminal device 110 may determine the resource as the first number of physical consecutive slots which are comprised within a resource pool for sidelink transmission.

[0088] In turn, the first terminal device 110 may transmit a CPE on one symbol before a starting symbol for sidelink in each of the physical consecutive slots. In some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may transmit a CPE on two symbols before a starting symbol for sidelink in each of the physical consecutive slots except an initial slot among the physical consecutive slots. Alternatively, in some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may transmit a CPE on two symbols between every two adjacent slots among the physical consecutive slots.

[0089] In some embodiments, the starting symbol may include but is not limited to an AGC symbol in a sidelink slot. Hereinafter, embodiments of the present disclosure will be described by taking an AGC symbol as an example of the starting symbol.

[0090] Fig. 8A illustrates an example of a resource for MCSt determining in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0091] In the example of Fig. 8A, based on the sidelink resource allocation, SCS is equal to 15 kHz, MCSt can be used when all the symbols in a slot are configured or pre-configured as sidelink symbols. For example, according to the allocation of symbols for sidelink, the second number (i.e. sl-LengthSymbols) is equal to 14 for NCP or the sl-LengthSymbols is  equal to 12 for ECP. Within the slots assigned for MCSt, the first terminal device 110 may transmit a CPE before an AGC symbol for sidelink in each of the physical consecutive slots except an initial slot among the physical consecutive slots.

[0092] As shown in Fig. 8A, the first terminal device 110 may use three physical consecutive slots (i.e., slots #n, n+1 and n+2) as a resource for a MCSt. The CPE should be transmitted on the last symbol on each of slot #n and slot #n+1.

[0093] Specifically, the first terminal device 110 may transmit the CPE from a time point after a starting position of the first symbol 810 in slot #n just before the AGC symbol in slot #n+1. In other words, the first terminal device 110 may transmit the CPE from a CPE starting position. The CPE starting position may be Tsym_1+16μs , and the CPE length Text is determined according to Ci=1 and Δi=16μs, where Tsym_1 represents the starting position of the first symbol 810.

[0094] Fig. 8B illustrates an example of a resource for MCSt determining in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0095] In some embodiments, based on the sidelink resource allocation, SCS is equal to 30 or 60 kHz, MCSt can be used when the second number (i.e., sl-LengthSymbols) is equal to 13 or 14 for NCP, and the sl-LengthSymbols is equal to 11 or 12 for ECP. For example, according to the allocation of symbols for sidelink, the second number (i.e. sl-LengthSymbols) is equal to 13 for NCP or the sl-LengthSymbols is equal to 11 for ECP. Within the slots assigned for MCSt, the first terminal device 110 may transmit a CPE on two symbols before an AGC symbol for sidelink in each of the physical consecutive slots except an initial slot among the physical consecutive slots.

[0096] As shown in Fig. 8B, the first terminal device 110 may use two physical consecutive slots (i.e., slots #n and n+1) as a resource for a MCSt. The CPE should be transmitted on the last two symbols in slot #n.

[0097] In the example of Fig. 8B, the SCS is equal to 30 kHz and the sl-LengthSymbols is equal to 13. The first terminal device 110 may transmit the CPE from a time point after a starting position of a second symbol 820 in slot #n before the AGC symbol in slot #n+1. In other words, the first terminal device 110 may transmit the CPE from a CPE starting position. The CPE starting position may be Tsym_2+16μs , and the CPE length Text is determined according to Ci=2 and Δi=16μs , where Tsym_2 represents the starting position of the second symbol 820.

[0098] Such embodiments can avoid introducing a gap between adjacent slots greater  than the available maximum duration of a CPE, and ensure the channel occupancy status.

[0099] In some embodiments, the sidelink resource allocation comprises PSFCH resource allocation. The first terminal device 110 may determine the resource as the physical consecutive slots, wherein the physical consecutive slots except an end slot do not comprise PSFCH resources.

[0100] For example, the first terminal device 110 may determine the resource for sidelink transmission by performing a mode 2 resource selection procedure. The first terminal device 110 shall assume that any set of LsubCH contiguous sub-channels included in the corresponding resource pool within the time interval [n+T1, n+T2] correspond to one candidate multi-slot resource for the first terminal device 110 performing full sensing, in a set of Y candidate slots within the time interval [n+T1, n+T2] for the first terminal device 110 performing periodic-based partial sensing correspond to one candidate multi-slot resource, or in a set of Y' candidate slots within the time interval [n+T1, n+T2] for the first terminal device 110 performing contiguous partial sensing if Prsvp_TX=0, correspond to one candidate multi-slot resource, …, where slot are physical consecutive slots, the physical consecutive slots except an end slot do not comprise PSFCH resources, and k=0, …, KMCSt-1.

[0101] Fig. 9 illustrates an example of the resources selection for MCSt in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0102] In the example of Fig. 9, the sidelink resource allocation comprises allocation of sidelink slot and allocation of PSFCH resources. According to the sidelink resource allocation, the first terminal device 110 may select the physical consecutive slots except an end slot do not comprise PSFCH resources.

[0103] For example, if MCSt needs two slots, the first terminal device 110 may select slots #n+3 and #n+4, or #n+4 and #n+5, i.e., as slot #5 comprises PSFCH resources, it can be used as an end slot in a resource for MCSt. Slots #n and #n+1 cannot be selected as a candidate resource as slot #n contains PSFCH resources.

[0104] For another example, if MCSt needs three slots, the first terminal device 110 may select slots #n+3, #n+4 and #n+5. Slots #n+4, #n+5 and #n+6 cannot be selected as a candidate resource as slot #n+5 contains PSFCH resources.

[0105] In some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may determine a gap between  every two adjacent slots among the physical consecutive slots, and transmit a padding signal in the gap. This will be described with reference to Fig. 10.

[0106] Fig. 10 illustrates a flowchart of an example method in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, the method 1000 can be implemented at a communication device, such as one of the first terminal device 110, the second terminal device 120 and the third terminal device 130 as shown in Fig. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 1000 will be described with reference to Fig. 1 as performed by the first terminal device 110 without loss of generality.

[0107] At block 1010, the first terminal device 110 obtains a sidelink resource allocation.

[0108] At block 1020, the first terminal device 110 determines, based on the sidelink resource allocation, a gap between every two adjacent slots among the physical consecutive slots. For example, the first terminal device 110 determines that the gap comprises a third number of symbols.

[0109] In some embodiments, the gap may be defined based on non-sidelink symbols. In such embodiments, the gap may comprise symbols except the ones assigned by sl-LengthSymbols and sl-StartSymbol. That is, the gap may comprise non-sidelink symbols between adjacent slots including the symbol after GP symbol of a slot until the symbol before AGC symbol of a next slot. In the example (b) of Fig. 6, sl-LengthSymbols = 7 and sl-StartSymbol = 0, then the gap comprises symbols from symbol #7 to symbol #13, and the third number = 7.

[0110] In some embodiments, the gap may comprise a first gap between an initial slot among the physical consecutive slots and a next slot subsequent to the initial slot. The first gap may comprise the third number of symbols which starts from a symbol after an end symbol for sidelink in the initial slot to a symbol before a starting symbol for sidelink transmission in the next slot.

[0111] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the gap may be defined based on non-sidelink signal transmission. In such embodiments, the gap may comprise GP symbol and non-sidelink symbol. The GP symbol in each sidelink slot is assigned as sidelink symbol but no sidelink signal is carried on the GP symbol in legacy scheme. For example, the gap may comprise a first gap between an initial slot among the physical consecutive slots and a next slot subsequent to the initial slot. The first gap may comprise the third number of symbols which starts from an end symbol for sidelink in the initial slot to a symbol before the starting symbol for sidelink transmission in the next slot. In the example (b) of Fig. 6, the gap comprises symbol from symbol #6 to symbol #13, and the third number = 8.

[0112] At block 1030, the first terminal device 110 determines whether the third number of symbols is greater than a fourth number of symbols. The fourth number is associated with a CPE and is represented by K.

[0113] In some embodiments, the first terminal device110 may determine the fourth number (K) based on a maximum length of the CPE.

[0114] In some embodiments, the fourth number K is determined as the minimum integer number with the duration of K symbols is larger than the maximum length of the CPE (pre-) configured for sidelink. Alternatively, the fourth number K is determined as the minimum integer number with the duration of K symbols is larger than the maximum length of the CPE (pre-) configured for sidelink minus one.

[0115] In some embodiments, the gap is defined based on non-sidelink symbols. If SCS is equal to 15 kHz, then K is equal to 0; if SCS is equal to 30 or 60 kHz, then K is equal to 1.

[0116] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the gap is defined based on non-sidelink signal transmission. If SCS is equal to 15 kHz, then K is equal to 1; if SCS is equal to 30 or 60 kHz, then K is equal to 2.

[0117] If the third number of symbols is greater than K, the first terminal device 110 may transmit, at block 1040, the CPE and a repetition of the sidelink signal in the gap. Alternatively, the first terminal device 110 may transmit, at block 1040, the repetition of the sidelink signal in the gap.

[0118] On the other hand, if the third number of symbols is equal to or less than K, the first terminal device 110 may transmit, at block 1050, the CPE in the gap.

[0119] The method 1000 provides a common scheme for the cases that the gap cannot be filled by CPE. Transmitting a padding signal in the gap may ensure the channel occupancy status and MCSt may be performed successfully.

[0120] In some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may transmit the CPE before a starting symbol for sidelink in the next slot and transmit the repetition of the sidelink signal on an end (i.e., the last) symbol for sidelink signal transmission in the initial slot from a starting symbol within the first gap to a symbol before the CPE. This will be described with reference to Figs. 11A and 11B.

[0121] Figs. 11A and 11B illustrate an example of MCSt in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure, respectively.

[0122] In the example of Fig. 11A, SCS is equal to 15 kHz, the sidelink resource allocation indicates that each sidelink slot does not comprise PSFCH resources. In addition, the sidelink resource allocation comprises allocation of sidelink symbol in each sidelink slot.  The allocation of sidelink symbol indicates that sl-StartSymbol is symbol #0 and sl-LengthSymbols is equal to 8. That is, sidelink symbols are #0 ~ #7 in each sidelink slot. Symbol#0 is an AGC symbol, and symbol#7 is a GP symbol. The gap is defined based on non-sidelink symbols, i.e., the third number is equal to 6, and K = 0.

[0123] The first terminal device 110 may select a resource for MCSt with two consecutive slots in a resource pool, i.e., slots #n and #n+1 as shown in Fig. 11A.

[0124] Based on the sidelink resource allocation, the first terminal device 110 determines that the third number of symbols in the gap between the end sidelink symbol in slot #n and the first sidelink symbol in slot #n+1 is larger than K. Thus, using a CPE with the maximum length cannot fill the gap to maintain the channel occupancy. Therefore, the first terminal device 110 repeat PSSCH of slot #n to fill the gap beside CPE before slot #n+1.

[0125] For example, the first terminal device 110 may fill the gap with PSSCH repetition and CPE.

[0126] Specifically, in slot #n, the first terminal device 110 repeat a sidelink signal on the last symbol for PSSCH transmission (i.e., symbol #6) to the following symbols until the symbol before AGC symbol in slot #n+1. That is, the first terminal device 110 transmits a repetition of a sidelink signal on symbol #6 in slot #n from symbol #7 to symbol #12 (including GP symbol #7) .

[0127] The first terminal device 110 transmits a CPE on symbol #13 in slot #n before AGC symbol #0 in slot #n+1. The first terminal device 110 may transmit the CPE from a CPE starting position. The CPE starting position is the earliest starting position configured or pre-configured for sidelink CPE. In this example, CPE is transmitted from symbol #13 in slot #n and starts at (Tsym_13+16μs) , where Tsym_13 represents the starting position of the symbol #13 in slot #n.

[0128] In the example of Fig. 11B, SCS is equal to 30 kHz, the sidelink resource allocation indicates that each sidelink slot does not comprise PSFCH resources. In addition, the sidelink resource allocation comprises allocation of sidelink symbol in each sidelink slot. The allocation of sidelink symbol indicates that sl-StartSymbol is symbol #4 and sl-LengthSymbols is equal to 10. That is, sidelink symbols are symbols #4 ~ #13 in each sidelink slot. Symbol#4 is an AGC symbol, and symbol#13 is a GP symbol. The gap is defined based on non-sidelink transmission, i.e., the third number is equal to 5, and K = 2.

[0129] The first terminal device 110 may select a resource for MCSt with two consecutive slots in a resource pool, i.e., slots #n and #n+1 as shown in Fig. 11B.

[0130] Based on the sidelink resource allocation, the first terminal device 110 determines that the third number of symbols in the gap between the end sidelink symbol in slot #n and the first sidelink symbol in slot #n+1 is larger than K. Thus, using a CPE with the maximum length cannot fill the gap to maintain the channel occupancy. Therefore, the first terminal device 110 repeats a sidelink signal on PSSCH in slot #n to fill the gap beside CPE in slot #n+1.

[0131] For example, the first terminal device 110 may fill the gap with a repetition of a sidelink signal on PSSCH and CPE.

[0132] Specifically, in slot #n, the first terminal device 110 repeat a sidelink signal on the last symbol for PSSCH transmission (i.e., symbol #12) to the following symbols until the symbol with CPE before AGC symbol in slot #n+1. That is, the first terminal device 110 transmits, from symbol #13 in slot #n to symbol #1 in slot #n+1 (including GP symbol #13) , a repetition of a sidelink signal on symbol #12 in slot #n.

[0133] In slot #n+1, the first terminal device 110 transmits a CPE before AGC symbol. The first terminal device 110 may transmit the CPE from a CPE starting position. The CPE starting position is the default starting position configured or pre-configured for sidelink CPE. In this example, CPE is transmitted from symbol #2 in slot #n+1 and starts at (Tsym_2+25μs) , where Tsym_2 represents the starting position of the symbol #2 in slot #n+1.

[0134] In some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may transmit the repetition of the sidelink signal on an end symbol for sidelink signal transmission in the initial slot on each of the third number of symbols comprised in the first gap. This will be described with reference to Fig. 11C.

[0135] Fig. 11C illustrates an example of MCSt in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0136] In the example of Fig. 11C, SCS is equal to 15 kHz, the sidelink resource allocation comprises allocation of sidelink symbol in each sidelink slot. The allocation of sidelink symbol indicates that sl-StartSymbol is symbol #0 and sl-LengthSymbols is equal to 12.That is, sidelink symbols are symbols #0 ~ #11 in each sidelink slot. Symbol#0 is an AGC symbol, and symbol#11 is a GP symbol. The gap is defined based on non-sidelink symbols, i.e., the third number is equal to 2, and K = 0.

[0137] The first terminal device 110 may select a resource for MCSt with two consecutive slots in a resource pool, i.e., slots #n and #n+1 as shown in Fig. 11C.

[0138] Based on the sidelink resource allocation, the first terminal device 110  determines that the third number of symbols in the gap between the end sidelink symbol in slot #n and the first sidelink symbol in slot #n+1 is larger than K. Thus, using a CPE with the maximum length cannot fill the gap to maintain the channel occupancy. Therefore, the first terminal device 110 repeats a sidelink signal on PSSCH in slot #n to fill the gap.

[0139] For example, the first terminal device 110 may fill the gap with a repetition of a sidelink signal on PSSCH.

[0140] Specifically, in slot #n, the first terminal device 110 repeats a sidelink signal on the last symbol for PSSCH transmission (i.e., symbol #10) to the following symbols until the AGC symbol in slot #n+1. That is, the first terminal device 110 transmits, from symbol #11 to symbol #13, a repetition of a sidelink signal on symbol #10 in slot #n.

[0141] In some embodiments, the gap between every two adjacent slots may comprise a second gap. The second gap may comprise three symbols. For example, the second gap may comprise a PSFCH symbol, a first duplicating symbol before the PSFCH symbol, and a first guard symbol before the first duplicating symbol.

[0142] Alternatively, the second gap may comprise four symbols. For example, the second gap may comprise the PSFCH symbol, the first duplicating symbol before the PSFCH symbol, the first guard symbol before the first duplicating symbol, and a second guard symbol after the PSFCH symbol.

[0143] In some embodiments, the duplicating symbol may include but is not limited to an AGC symbol in a sidelink slot, and the guard symbol may include but is not limited to a GP symbol in a sidelink slot. Embodiments of the present disclosure will be described by taking an AGC symbol as an example of the duplicating symbol and taking a GP symbol as an example of the guard symbol.

[0144] In some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may transmit the padding signal on the first guard symbol.

[0145] In some embodiments, the gap between every two adjacent slots may comprise a second gap. The second gap may comprise three symbols or four symbols, as described above. In such embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may determine a common interlace in frequency domain for PSFCH transmission. In turn, the first terminal device 110 may transmit the padding signal on the common interlace. This will be described with reference to Fig. 12A.

[0146] Fig. 12A illustrates an example of MCSt in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 12A, PSFCH resources are configured or  pre-configured in a sidelink resource pool on unlicensed spectrum and PSFCH resources are defined based on IRB.

[0147] The first terminal device 110 may determine a common interlace in frequency domain for PSFCH transmission. For example, the common IRB is IRB #0 and is also used as padding IRB. The second gap comprises three symbols.

[0148] According to the sidelink resource allocation, the first terminal device 110 determines that SCS is equal to 30 kHz and PSFCH resources are defined based on IRB. PSFCH resources are comprised in each sidelink slot, and all symbols in each sidelink slot are assigned as sidelink symbols. The second gap comprises symbols #10 ~ #12.

[0149] The first terminal device 110 selects a resource for MCSt with two consecutive slots in a resource pool. For example, the first terminal device 110 selects slots #n and #n+1. In slot #n.

[0150] The first terminal device 110 may generate the padding signal based on a hypothetic sidelink HARQ signal. For example, the first terminal device 110 may generate the padding signal based on a sequence cyclic shift (CS) , an identity of the first terminal device 110 and a group member identity. The identity of the first terminal device 110 is also referred to as a PID, and the group member identity is also referred to as an MID.

[0151] For example, the sequence CS is equal to 0, the PID is equal to 0 and the MID is equal to 0. The hypothetic sidelink HARQ signal is transmitted on the common IRB.

[0152] The first terminal device 110 transmits a padding signal on symbols #10 to #12 on IRB #0.

[0153] In some embodiments, the gap between every two adjacent slots may comprise a second gap. The second gap may comprise three symbols or four symbols, as described above. In such embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may determine a set of RBs in the second gap. In turn, the first terminal device 110 may transmit the padding signal on the set of RBs.

[0154] In some embodiments, the set of RBs in the second gap may comprises a first set of dedicated RBs for padding signal transmission. The first terminal device 110 may determine the first set of dedicated RBs based on a system configuration or a system pre-configuration. The first terminal device 110 may transmit the padding signal on the first set of dedicated RBs. This will be described with reference to Fig. 12B.

[0155] Fig. 12B illustrates an example of MCSt in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 12B, PSFCH resources are defined based on RB. A set of dedicated RBs is configured or pre-configured as padding RBs. The number of padding RBs is no less than Q, where Q is predefined. The padding signal is generated based  on UE implementation to fill the padding RBs.

[0156] According to the sidelink resource allocation, the first terminal device 110 determines that a period of PSFCH resources is equal to 4, and all symbols in each sidelink slot are assigned as sidelink symbols. The second gap comprises four symbols, i.e., symbols #10 ~ #13.

[0157] The first terminal device 110 selects a resource for MCSt with three consecutive slots in a resource pool. For example, the first terminal device 110 selects slots #n, slot #n+1 and #n+2 for MCSt.

[0158] In slot #n, the first terminal device 110 transmits a CPE on symbol #13, as described above with reference to Fig. 10, 11A, or 11B.

[0159] In slot #n+1 comprising PSFCH resources, the first terminal device 110 transmits a padding signal on symbols #10 to #13 on padding RBs.

[0160] In some embodiments, the set of RBs in the second gap may comprise a second set of RBs in a resource pool which are not assigned for PSFCH transmission. This will be described with reference to Fig. 12C.

[0161] Fig. 12C illustrates an example of MCSt in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 12C, PSFCH resources are defined based on RB.All the RBs in a resource pool which are not assigned for PSFCH transmission are padding RBs with the second gap.

[0162] According to the sidelink resource allocation, the first terminal device 110 determines that a period of PSFCH resources is equal to 2, and all symbols in each sidelink slot are assigned as sidelink symbols. The second gap comprises three symbols, i.e., symbols #10 ~ #12.

[0163] The first terminal device 110 selects a resource for MCSt with two consecutive slots in a resource pool. For example, the first terminal device 110 selects slot #n and slot #n+1, as shown in Fig. 12C.

[0164] In slot #n comprising PSFCH resources, the first terminal device 110 transmits a CPE on symbol #13, as described above with reference to Fig. 10, 11A, or 11B. In addition, in slot #n, the first terminal device 110 transmits a padding signal on symbols #10 to #12 on padding RBs.

[0165] The padding signal is generated based on a repetition of the sidelink signal on a symbol before the second gap. For example, the padding signal is generated by repeating a sidelink signal on a PSSCH symbol before the first guard symbol on the same RBs of padding RBs.

[0166] In some embodiments, the padding signal may comprise one of the following: a first repetition of a signal on the PSFCH symbol or the first duplicating symbol, or a second repetition of a sidelink signal on a symbol before the first guard symbol. This will be described with reference to Fig. 13A.

[0167] Fig. 13A illustrates an example of MCSt in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The sidelink resource allocation in the example of Fig. 13A is the same as that in the example of Fig. 12C.

[0168] In the example of Fig. 13A, the first terminal device 110 selects a resource for MCSt and the resource comprises slots #n and #n+1.

[0169] In slot #n comprising PSFCH resources, the first terminal device 110 transmits sidelink signals on PSCCH or PSSCH from symbols #0 to #9. In addition, the first terminal device 110 transmits a sidelink HARQ signal on PSFCH symbol, i.e., symbol #12, and repeats the sidelink HARQ signal to an AGC symbol (i.e., on symbol #11) . The first terminal device 110 also repeats the sidelink HARQ signal on the PSFCH symbol (i.e., symbol #12) to the GP symbol #10. For example, the first terminal device 110 repeats the sidelink HARQ signal on the same RB (s) used for PSFCH resource. Furthermore, the first terminal device 110 transmits a CPE on symbol #13, as described above with reference to Fig. 10, 11A, or 11B.

[0170] In slot #n+1, the first terminal device 110 transmits sidelink signals on PSCCH or PSSCH from symbols #0 to #12.

[0171] In the example of Fig. 13A, the first terminal device 110 fills the first guard symbol by repeating a sidelink signal on PSFCH symbol, which avoids introducing extra padding signal or CPE.

[0172] In some embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may initiate a Channel Occupancy (CO) . In addition, the first terminal device 110 may share the CO with at least one other terminal device (such as the second terminal device 120) . In such embodiments, the first terminal device 110 may be referred to as an initiating UE and each of the at least one other terminal device may be referred to as a responding UE.

[0173] In some embodiments, within a sharing CO, slots comprising PSFCH resources may cause transmission gap between slots.

[0174] If the initiating UE performs MCSt within the CO and knows at least one responding UE would transmit a sidelink HARQ signal on a PSFCH resource on a slot for MCSt, the initiating UE may transmit, on the first guard symbol in the slot, a repetition of a sidelink signal on a symbol before the guard symbol in the slot. For example, the initiating  UE may repeat the sidelink signal on the last PSCCH / PSSCH symbol to the first guard symbol in the same slot to fill the transmission gap. This will be described with reference to Fig. 13B.

[0175] Fig. 13B illustrates an example of MCSt in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The sidelink resource allocation in the example of Fig. 13B is the same as that in the example of Fig. 12C.

[0176] In the example of Fig. 13B, the first terminal device 110 initiates a CO and shares the CO with a responding UE. The first terminal device 110 selects a resource for MCSt and the resource comprises slots #n and #n+1 within a CO.

[0177] In slot #n, the first terminal device 110 transmits sidelink signals on PSCCH / PSSCH from symbols #0 to #9, and transmits a repetition of the sidelink signal on the last PSSCH symbol (i.e., symbol #9) to the GP symbol #10 to fill the transmission gap. The length of the repetition of the sidelink signal is a symbol length minus 16us. The repetition of the sidelink signal starts from the starting position of symbol #10.

[0178] The terminal device 110 also transmits a CPE on symbol #13, as described above with reference to Fig. 10, 11A, or 11B.

[0179] In slot #n+1, the first terminal device 110 transmits sidelink signals on PSCCH / PSSCH from symbols #0 to #12.

[0180] A responding UE transmits a sidelink HARQ signal on PSFCH symbol, i.e., symbol #12, and repeats the sidelink HARQ signal to an AGC symbol (i.e., symbol #11) in slot #n.

[0181] In the example of Fig. 13B, the first terminal device 110 fills the GP symbol between PSSCH and PSFCH by repeating the sidelink signal on PSSCH or PSFCH, which avoids introducing extra padding signal or CPE.

[0182] As described above, within a sharing CO, slots comprising PSFCH resources may cause transmission gap between slots.

[0183] In order to solve the above and other potential problems, in a second aspect, embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for sidelink communications. In the solution, a second terminal device receives configuration information about a CO for sidelink transmission from a first terminal device. The CO is initiated by the first terminal device. At least one slot within the CO comprises a PSFCH symbol, a first duplicating symbol before the PSFCH symbol, and a guard symbol before the first duplicating symbol. The second terminal device transmits at least one sidelink HARQ feedback signal on the PSFCH symbol, and a padding signal on the guard symbol. In this way, the channel occupancy can be  maintained. This will be described with reference to Figs. 14 and 15.

[0184] Fig. 14 illustrates a flowchart of an example method in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, the method 1400 can be implemented at a communication device, such as one of the first terminal device 110, the second terminal device 120 and the third terminal device 130 as shown in Fig. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 1400 will be described with reference to Fig. 1 as performed by the second terminal device 120 without loss of generality.

[0185] At block 1410, the second terminal device 120 receives configuration information about a CO for sidelink transmission from the first terminal device 110. The CO is initiated by the first terminal device 110. At least one slot within the CO comprises a PSFCH symbol, a first duplicating symbol before the PSFCH symbol, and a guard symbol before the first duplicating symbol.

[0186] In some embodiments, the first duplicating symbol may include but is not limited to an AGC symbol in a sidelink slot, and the guard symbol may include but is not limited to a GP symbol in a sidelink slot. Embodiments of the present disclosure will be described by taking an AGC symbol as an example of the first duplicating symbol and taking a GP symbol as an example of the guard symbol.

[0187] At block 1420, the second terminal device 120 transmits at least one sidelink HARQ feedback signal on the PSFCH symbol, and a padding signal on the guard symbol.

[0188] It shall be understood that the method 1400 may be not only applied to MCSt, but also applied to various scenarios related to a sharing CO.

[0189] In some embodiments, the padding signal may comprise a repetition of the at least one sidelink HARQ feedback signal on the PSFCH symbol or a signal on the first duplicating symbol.

[0190] In some embodiments, a first length of the padding signal is equal to a second length of the guard symbol minus a time interval.

[0191] In some embodiments, the second terminal device 120 may transmit the padding signal from a time point after a starting position of the guard symbol.

[0192] Fig. 15 illustrates an example of CO sharing in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The sidelink resource allocation in the example of Fig. 15 is the same as that in the example of Fig. 12C.

[0193] In the example of Fig. 15, the first terminal device 110 initiates a CO and shares the CO with the second terminal device 120. Thus, the second terminal device 120 acts as a  responding UE.

[0194] In slot #n, the second terminal device 120 transmits a sidelink HARQ signal on a PSFCH resource on symbol #12. The second terminal device 120 transmits, on an AGC symbol (i.e, symbol #11) , a repetition of the sidelink HARQ signal.

[0195] In addition, the second terminal device 120 may transmits, on the GP symbol #10, a repetition of the signal on the AGC symbol (i.e., symbol #11) . Alternatively, the second terminal device 120 may transmits, on the GP symbol #10, a repetition of the signal on the PSFCH symbol (i.e., symbol #12) .

[0196] The repetition of the signal may be transmitted with the same IRB (s)  / RB (s) to maintain the channel occupancy.

[0197] The length of the repetition of the signal is equal to a symbol length minus a time interval. For example, the time interval is 16 us. The repetition of the signal may start from a time point after a starting position of the GP symbol (i.e., symbol #10) . For example, the repetition of the signal may start from 16 us after the starting position of the GP symbol (i.e., symbol #10) .

[0198] In the example of Fig. 15, the second terminal device 120 fills the GP symbol between a PSSCH symbol and a PSFCH symbol by repeating a signal on PSFCH symbol or AGC symbol, which may avoid introducing extra padding signal or CPE.

[0199] Fig. 16 is a simplified block diagram of a device 1600 that is suitable for implementing embodiments of the present disclosure. The device 1600 can be considered as a further example embodiment of the terminal device 110 as shown in Fig. 1. Accordingly, the device 1600 can be implemented at or as at least a part of the terminal device 110.

[0200] As shown, the device 1600 includes a processor 1610, a memory 1620 coupled to the processor 1610, a suitable transceiver 1640 coupled to the processor 1610, and a communication interface coupled to the transceiver 1640. The memory 1620 stores at least a part of a program 1630. The transceiver 1640 may be for bidirectional communications or a unidirectional communication based on requirements. The transceiver 1640 may include at least one of a transmitter 1642 and a receiver 1644. The transmitter 1642 and the receiver 1644 may be functional modules or physical entities. The transceiver 1640 has at least one antenna to facilitate communication, though in practice an Access Node mentioned in this application may have several ones. The communication interface may represent any interface that is necessary for communication with other network elements, such as X2 / Xn interface for bidirectional communications between eNBs / gNBs, S1 / NG interface for communication between a Mobility Management Entity (MME)  / Access and Mobility Management Function  (AMF)  / SGW / UPF and the eNB / gNB, Un interface for communication between the eNB / gNB and a relay node (RN) , or Uu interface for communication between the eNB / gNB and a terminal device.

[0201] In summary, embodiments of the present disclosure may provide the following solutions.

[0202] In a first aspect, there is provided a first terminal device. The first terminal device comprises a processor. The processor is configured to cause the terminal device to: determine a resource for sidelink transmission based on a sidelink resource allocation, the resource comprising a first number of physical consecutive slots, and transmit a sidelink signal on the resource.

[0203] In some embodiments, the sidelink resource allocation comprises at least one of the following: allocation of resource pool for sidelink transmission; allocation of slots for sidelink transmission, allocation of symbols for sidelink transmission, allocation of a starting symbol for sidelink transmission, allocation of sub-channels for sidelink transmission, allocation of a set of Cyclic Prefix Extension (CPE) length for sidelink transmission, or allocation of Physical Sidelink Feedback Channel (PSFCH) resources.

[0204] In some embodiments, the first terminal device is caused to determine the resource based on the sidelink resource allocation by: defining a set of candidate multi-slot resources, wherein each of the candidate multi-slot resources comprises the first number of physical consecutive slots, and the first number of physical consecutive slots are comprised within a resource pool for sidelink transmission; and determining the resource as a first candidate multi-slot resource in the set.

[0205] In some embodiments, the first terminal device is caused to define the first candidate multi-slot resource by: defining the first candidate multi-slot resource as a same set of sub-channel in each slot of the first number of physical consecutive slots; or defining the first candidate multi-slot resource as an independent set of sub-channel in each of the first number of physical consecutive slots.

[0206] In some embodiments, the allocation of symbols for sidelink transmission comprises a second number of symbols in a slot for sidelink transmission; and in accordance with a determination that Subcarrier Spacing (SCS) is equal to 15kHz and the second number is equal to 14 for normal Cyclic Prefix (CP) or the second number is equal to 12 for extended CP, or in accordance with a determination that SCS is equal to 30kHz or 60kHz and the second number is equal to or greater than 13 for normal CP, or the second number is equal to or greater than 11 for extended CP, the first terminal device is further caused to: determine  the resource as the first number of physical consecutive slots which are comprised within a resource pool for sidelink transmission.

[0207] In some embodiments, the first terminal device is further caused to: transmit a CPE on one or two symbols before a starting symbol for sidelink in each of the physical consecutive slots except an initial slot among the physical consecutive slots.

[0208] In some embodiments, the first terminal device is further caused to: transmit a CPE on one or two symbols between every two adjacent slots among the physical consecutive slots.

[0209] In some embodiments, the sidelink resource allocation comprises PSFCH resource allocation, and the first terminal device is caused to determine the resource as the physical consecutive slots, wherein the physical consecutive slots except an end slot do not comprise PSFCH resources.

[0210] In some embodiments, the first terminal device is further caused to: determine a gap between every two adjacent slots among the physical consecutive slots; and transmit a padding signal in the gap.

[0211] In some embodiments, the first terminal device is caused to determine the gap by: determining that the gap comprises a third number of symbols, and the first terminal device is caused to transmit the padding signal in the gap by: based on determining that the third number is greater than a fourth number of symbols associated with a CPE, transmitting the CPE and a repetition of the sidelink signal in the gap, or transmitting the repetition of the sidelink signal in the gap; and based on determining that the third number is equal to or less than the fourth number, transmitting the CPE in the gap.

[0212] In some embodiments, the first terminal device is caused to determine the fourth number based on a maximum length of the CPE.
