[0038]
[0039] (Example 1)
[0040] Figure 1 is a conceptual perspective drawing schematically showing the state of an electrode undergoing an electrode manufacturing process.
[0041] Referring to Fig. 1, a coated electrode (1) is manufactured by coating an active material on a current collector in a coater (C) to form a coated portion (1a). A reference point may be marked on an uncoated portion (1b) on which the active material is not coated. In some embodiments, the active material may be coated on both the upper and lower surfaces of the electrode (1). The coated electrode (1) may be pressed by a press roll in a roll press process and cut along the length direction of the electrode (1) by a slitter in a slitting process.
[0042] Afterwards, in the notching process, electrode tabs (2) can be formed by punching with a press or the like. In the notching process, the electrode tabs (2) are formed for each unit electrode so that they can be cut for each unit electrode to be manufactured into a battery cell or cut in a subsequent process. The width of the unit electrode corresponds to the pitch (P) processed by the press.
[0043] This electrode manufacturing process is performed through a series of roll-to-roll processes in which the electrode unwound from the unwinder is moved and wound on the rewinder in a sequential and repeated manner. That is, the electrode is coated as it moves from the unwinder of the coating process to the rewinder, and the electrode is wound on the rewinder, thereby completing the electrode roll of the coating process. Next, the electrode roll is placed on the unwinder of the roll press process and moved to the rewinder of the roll press process. The electrode roll is wound on the rewinder of the roll press process, thereby completing the electrode roll of the roll press process. Thereafter, the electrode roll is unwound from the unwinder of a subsequent process (e.g., a second roll press process, a slitting process, a notching process, etc.), and after going through a predetermined process, is wound on the rewinder of the subsequent process again, thereby completing the electrode roll of the subsequent process. In this way, the electrode manufacturing process may include a series of roll-to-roll processes in which the electrode released from the unwinder is moved and wound in the rewinder (so-called roll-to-roll process) is sequentially repeated.
[0044] Figure 2 conceptually illustrates a roll map created in an electrode manufacturing process according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0045] As described above, electrodes are processed in a roll-to-roll manner in coating processes, roll press processes, slitting processes, etc. The roll map is a bar-shaped representation of the progress of the electrode, and the longitudinal and transverse positions of the electrode are depicted as coordinates on the roll map. That is, the roll map is defined on a coordinate plane having two coordinate axes, the longitudinal axis and the transverse axis of the electrode, and each position of the electrode on the coordinate plane can be represented by a coordinate value on the coordinate plane. This roll map stores information on defects, quality, electrode breakage, etc. that occur in the electrode manufacturing process together with the coordinates, so that data related to quality or defects in the electrode manufacturing process can be easily and visually grasped at a glance.
[0046] Referring to Figure 2, external defect information, such as pinhole defects (f1) and line defects (f2), are visualized and displayed at the coordinates where the defects occurred. Furthermore, mismatches between the coated and uncoated portions (f3) are also displayed. Other loading defects are also displayed, as well as areas where electrodes are discarded at the outermost edge.
[0047] In addition, reference points (K1, K2, K3) can be marked and displayed at predetermined intervals on the electrode (1). When a fracture occurs in the electrode (1) and it is connected with a joint connecting member, the length of the electrode is reduced by the fractured length. As described above, the points where appearance defects occur can also be removed and connected by the worker. The roll map can also simulate such a situation and modify the coordinates on the roll map. Referring to Fig. 2, the coordinates that do not reflect the above-described electrode removal portion and the coordinates that reflect it are shown together on one roll map. The former is called the absolute coordinate (x), and the latter is called the relative coordinate (y). As shown in Fig. 2, the relative coordinate (y) and the absolute coordinate (x) can be displayed together on one roll map, but can also be displayed separately. The roll map indicated by the relative coordinate (y) shows the state of the actual electrode.
[0048] Such roll maps can be created for each of the individual processes described above. However, since the roll-to-roll process unwinds the electrode wound in the preceding process in the subsequent process, the end of the roll map representing the electrode roll of the preceding process becomes the beginning of the roll map representing the electrode roll of the subsequent process, and so on, and the start and end of the electrode are reversed during the roll-to-roll process. In addition, in the case of a double-sided electrode in which the electrode active material is coated on both sides of the electrode, the electrode surface may be reversed, such as the top electrode in the preceding process becoming the back electrode in the subsequent process. In other words, depending on the winding direction of the electrode in the preceding process and the unwinding direction of the electrode in the subsequent process, the start and end of the electrode may be reversed. Since the roll maps of each process are created based on these reversed electrodes, the coordinates of the roll maps of each process are also reversed. Furthermore, as the electrode is cut and connected multiple times in the longitudinal direction to remove defective or broken sections, and so on, during a series of roll-to-roll processes, the length of the electrode changes. Since the roll map of each process reflects these inversions and length changes, the coordinate values may be different for each.
[0049] In the final stage of the electrode manufacturing process, only the remaining electrodes (survival electrodes) remain, excluding the electrode parts removed in the previous stages. Since batteries are manufactured using these survival electrodes, if a problem occurs in a finished or semi-finished battery, the cause of the problem can be traced by referring to the roll map of the final electrode. Furthermore, the roll maps for each process described above can be used to trace the electrode part that caused the problem. Thus, the roll map is a useful tool for quality monitoring, as well as for assessing quality and defects.
[0050]
[0051] FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram conceptually illustrating a roll-to-roll process device and a roll map creation system according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0052] Referring to FIG. 3, the roll-to-roll process device (110) may include an unwinder (1111), a rewinder (1113), a processing machine (1115), a first rotary encoder (1121), a second rotary encoder (1125), a measuring instrument (1130), and a process programmable logic controller (PLC) (1143).
[0053] An electrode roll manufactured in a previous electrode process is provided to an unwinder (1111), and the unwinder (1111) may be configured to unwind the electrode roll. A rewinder (1113) may be configured to wind the electrode (E1) unwound from the unwinder (1111) and processed in a roll-to-roll process. The roll-to-roll process may be, for example, a coating process, a roll press process, a notching process, etc., but is not limited thereto.
[0054] The first rotary encoder (1121) may be configured to detect the extent to which the electrode is unwound by the unwinder (1111). The first rotary encoder (1121) may be configured as a contact or non-contact type. In some embodiments, the first rotary encoder (1121) may be configured to sense the length of the electrode unwound by the unwinder (1111). Accordingly, the first rotary encoder (1121) may be configured to generate an unwound amount signal (UWAS) representing the length of the electrode unwound, and transmit the same to a roll map PLC (1171) which will be described in detail later. The roll map PLC (1171) may be configured to collect unwound amount data based on the received unwound amount signal (UWAS).
[0055] The second rotary encoder (1125) may be configured to detect the degree to which the electrode is wound by the rewinder (1113). The second rotary encoder (1125) may be configured as a contact or non-contact type. In some embodiments, the second rotary encoder (1125) may be configured to sense the length by which the electrode is wound by the rewinder (1113). Accordingly, the second rotary encoder (1125) may be configured to generate a winding amount signal (WAS) representing the length by which the electrode is wound, and transmit the same to a roll map PLC (1171) which will be described in detail later. The roll map PLC (1171) may be configured to collect winding amount data based on the received winding amount signal (WAS).
[0056] The measuring device (1130) may be configured to measure the electrode (E1) to collect measurement data (MD) of the electrode (E1) being transferred from the unwinder (1111) to the rewinder (1113). The measuring device (1130) may measure the electrode (E1) in a scanning manner. In some embodiments, the measuring device (1130) may move along the width direction of the electrode (E1). In some embodiments, during one scan of the measuring device (1130), the measuring device (1130) may move from one end of the electrode (E1) in the width direction to the other end in the width direction. While the measuring device (1130) performs the width direction scanning, the electrode (E1) may be moved in the length direction of the electrode by the unwinder (1111) and the rewinder (1113).
[0057] The above processing machine (1115) may be any processing device capable of performing, for example, a coating process, a roll press process, a notching process, etc. For example, if the roll-to-roll process illustrated in FIG. 3 is a coating process, the processing machine (1115) may be a coater. For example, if the roll-to-roll process illustrated in FIG. 3 is a roll press process, the processing machine (1115) may be a roll press device. For example, if the roll-to-roll process illustrated in FIG. 3 is a notching process, the processing machine (1115) may be a notching device.
[0058] In some embodiments, when the processing machine (1115) is a roll press device, the processing machine (1115) may include a pair of rollers configured to apply a predetermined pressure toward each other with an electrode (E1) therebetween.
[0059] In some embodiments, when the processing machine (1115) is a notching machine, the processing machine (1115) may be a notching press device, and may include, for example, a driving unit configured to move a notching mold up and down at a certain cycle, and when the notching mold is lowered, the edge of the electrode (E1) may be punched to form a lead tab of a predetermined shape (for example, a rectangle).
[0060] The above measurement data (MD) may include inspection results expressed in numbers. For example, the measurement data (MD) may include coordinates and dimensions of a notched portion on the electrode (E1). In some embodiments, the measurement data (MD) may further include data on the loading amount of the coating material on the electrode, dimensional data such as the width of the insulating material provided on the coating material and the overlapping width between the coating material and the insulating material, mismatch data between the maintenance lanes on the upper surface of the electrode and the maintenance lanes on the lower surface of the electrode, etc. Here, the loading amount represents the amount of the coating material loaded per unit area of the electrode (E1) and may be the areal density of the coating material. The measurement data (MD) may be processed in a set manner to determine the pass / fail of the measured portion of the electrode.
[0061] The measuring device (1130) may include a sensing unit (1131) and a processing unit (1133). The sensing unit (1131) may be configured to sense a physical quantity of an electrode (E1) to generate a measurement signal (MS). For example, the sensing unit (1131) may include a Time Delay and Integration (TDI) camera, a Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor, and a Time of Flight (TOF) sensor. The sensing unit (1131) may also include an emitter and a receiver configured to perform measurements using non-destructive signals such as ultrasound, microwaves, terahertz waves, and infrared waves. In some embodiments, the sensing unit (1131) may include analog and / or digital sensors such as a biosensor, a chemical sensor, a composition sensor, a current and / or power meter, an air quality sensor, a gas sensor, a Hall effect sensor, a brightness level sensor, and a light sensor. In some embodiments, the measuring device (1130) may include a pressure sensor, a temperature sensor, an ultrasonic sensor, a proximity sensor, a door status sensor, a motion tracking sensor, a humidity sensor, a visible light and infrared sensor, and a camera.
[0062] The roll-to-roll process device (110) may further include an inspector configured to inspect the electrode (E1) to collect inspection data. The inspection data may include judgments on the quality of a portion of the electrode (E1) and process events. For example, the inspection data may include data on the appearance of the electrode collected by an image-based inspection device such as a vision machine, data on open circuits and joints of the electrode, data on a portion of the electrode on which sampling inspection has been performed, data on a portion of the electrode scheduled for scrapping, data on a portion of the electrode that has been scrapped, data on the quality of coating materials and insulating materials on the electrode, data on reference points indicating the position of the electrode, and defect data such as pinhole defects, crater defects, line defects, crack defects, side ring defects, island defects, fold defects, wrinkle defects, dent defects, and imprint defects. The reference points may be formed at predetermined intervals on the electrode, and the positions of other elements on the electrode may be located based on the reference points. The inspector may be any one of a color sensor, a joint sensor, a reference point sensor, and a vision machine.
[0063] The measurement data (MD) and inspection data described above may be time-series data. The measurement data (MD) and inspection data may be temporally ordered. Temporal ordering is a key characteristic of time-series data, which organizes events in the order in which they occur and arrive for processing. That is, the measurement data (MD) and inspection data may be stored based on the time at which the measurement and inspection were performed, and the measurement data (MD) and inspection data may be temporally associated. Furthermore, the measurement data (MD) and inspection data may be associated with a location on the electrode identified based on the reference point.
[0064] The above processing unit (1133) may be configured to collect the measurement signal (MS) sensed by the sensing unit (1131) to generate measurement data (MD). The processing unit (1133) may be connected to the sensing unit (1131) by wire or wirelessly.
[0065] The Rollmap PLC (1171) may be in operative communication with the first and second rotary encoders (1121, 1125), the measuring device (1130), and additional measuring devices and inspectors via a wired or wireless data network. The data network may be unidirectional or bidirectional. The data network may be implemented by a public network and / or a specialized network using physical channels, WiFi, Bluetooth, and / or other frequency bands. The first and second rotary encoders (1121, 1125), the measuring device (1130), and additional measuring devices and inspectors may be configured to collect data from equipment, workpieces, semi-finished products, and finished products within the roll-to-roll processing device (110), or to generate signals for collecting data.
[0066] The rollmap PLC (141) may be configured to transmit coordinate data (CD) to the processing unit (1133). The processing unit (1133) may be configured to associate measurement data (MD) with the coordinate data (CD) to generate coordinate-related measurement data (CMD). Typically, the measurement data (MD) may be processed based on a trigger point. Examples of processing of the measurement data (MD) may include storing the measurement data (MD), manipulating the measurement data (MD) (e.g., generating coordinate-related measurement data (CMD)), and transmitting the measurement data (MD).
[0067] As a non-limiting example, the trigger point for processing measurement data (MD) may be the completion of a scan. For example, the sensing unit (1131) may scan the electrode in the width direction of the electrode, and for each scan, measurement data (MD) may be stored, processed, modulated, and transmitted. In another example, the trigger point may be the completion of multiple scans or the completion of a portion of a scan.
[0068] The above processing unit (1133) may be configured to transmit coordinate-related measurement data (CMD) to a roll map PLC (1171). The roll map PLC (1171) may be configured to transmit coordinate-related measurement data (CMD) to a process PLC (1143).
[0069] The coordinate-related measurement data (CMD) transmitted to the process PLC (1143) can be transmitted to the first server (150) via the process PLC (1143) and the equipment interface (EIF) (145). The process PLC (1143) and the EIF (145) can relay the communication of data including the measurement data (CMD) between the first server (150) and the roll map PLC (1171). However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the roll map PLC (1171) can also be configured to directly transmit the coordinate-related measurement data (CMD) to the first server (150).
[0070] The process PLC (1143) may be configured to control the operation of the unwinder (1111), the rewinder (1113), and the processing machine (1115). The process PLC (1143) may be configured to generate signals for operation and stop of the unwinder (1111), the rewinder (1113), and the processing machine (1115).
[0071] In some embodiments, each of the roll map PLC (1171) and the process PLC (1143) may be part of a first PLC (1140), which is one PLC.
[0072] In order to control the roll-to-roll process illustrated in FIG. 3, a communication line may be installed between the process PLC (1143) and the first server (150) via the EIF (145) to connect the process PLC (1143) and the first server (150). Accordingly, data transmission through the process PLC (1143) can reduce resources required for installation of the communication line and can improve data processing and management efficiency compared to the case where the first and second rotary encoders (1121, 1125) and the measuring device (1130) directly transmit the unwinding amount signal (UWAS), the winding amount signal (WAS) and the measurement signal (MS) to the first server (150) and the case where the roll map PLC (1171) directly transmits the measurement data (CMD) to the first server (150).
[0073] EIF (145) may be a device for communication between the process PLC (1143) of the manufacturing facility and the first server (150), which is an upper server.
[0074] In some embodiments, the first server (150) may store a first roll map created for a preceding process. The first roll map may be created by the first server (150) for the preceding process, or may be created by a roll map PLC of the preceding process. The first roll map represents an electrode roll wound in the preceding process, and the electrode roll, after being wound in the preceding process, is provided to the unwinder (1111) for the roll-to-roll process illustrated in FIG. 3.
[0075] In some embodiments, the first server (150) may include a roll map creation unit configured to create a second roll map. The second roll map may be a simulation of process data of the electrode (E1) on a plane that simulates the electrode (E1) moving between the unwinder (1111) and the rewinder (1113). In this case, the first server (150) may function as a roll map creation device.
[0076] In some embodiments, the roll map PLC (1171) may include a roll map creation unit configured to create the second roll map. In this case, the roll map PLC (1171) may function as a roll map creation device. Hereinafter, a case in which the first server (150) creates the second roll map will be described. However, the roll map PLC (1171) may also be configured to create the second roll map in a manner identical, equivalent, or similar to the configuration related to creating the second roll map by the first server (150).
[0077] The second roll map may be generated in units of lots formed by winding and cutting the electrode (E1). The second roll map may include data regarding lot specifications. The lot specifications may include, for example, the lot number, the length of the wound electrode, the width of the electrode, and the materials and compositions used in processing the electrode.
[0078] In some embodiments, the preceding process may be an electrode coating process and the roll-to-roll process illustrated in FIG. 3 may be a roll press process. In this case, the first roll map may be a roll map for the electrode coating process, which is the preceding process, and the second roll map may be a roll map for the roll press process.
[0079] In other embodiments, the preceding process may be a roll press process and the roll-to-roll process illustrated in FIG. 3 may be a notching process. In this case, the first roll map may be a roll map for the preceding roll press process and the second roll map may be a roll map for the notching process.
[0080] The first server (150) can match the coordinate positions of the generated second roll map with the coordinate positions of the first roll map. This will be described in more detail later.
[0081] According to exemplary embodiments, the first server (150) may be a data processing system that supports various activities necessary for managing the manufacturing of secondary batteries, such as work schedule management, work instructions, quality control, and work performance aggregation. The first server (150) may be, for example, a Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The first server (150) may be configured to input, process, output, and communicate data necessary for electrode assembly, such as a notching process, a cutting process, and a stacking process.
[0082] In some embodiments, the first roll map may include information regarding the length of the electrode wound in the preceding process. In some embodiments, the length (A) of the electrode of the first roll map may be a length measured by a rotary encoder provided on a rewinder of the preceding process. In some other embodiments, the length (A) of the electrode of the first roll map may be a length measured by a first rotary encoder (1121) provided on an unwinder (1111) of a roll-to-roll process device (110) illustrated in FIG. 3.
[0083] The second roll map may include information regarding the length of the electrode wound in the rewinder (1113). In some embodiments, the length (B) of the electrode in the second roll map may be a length measured by a second rotary encoder (1125) provided on the rewinder (1113).
[0084] The length (A) of the electrode of the first roll map may not necessarily be the same as the length (B) of the electrode of the second roll map. The electrode (E1) may receive a longitudinal tension while moving from the unwinder (1111) toward the rewinder (1113). As a result, the length of the electrode (E1) measured on the unwinder (1111) and the length of the electrode measured on the rewinder (1113) may be different from each other.
[0085] Figure 4 is a schematic diagram conceptually illustrating the change in length of a roll map during a roll-to-roll process.
[0086] Referring to Fig. 4, a first roll map before the roll-to-roll process and a second roll map after the roll-to-roll process are arranged.
[0087] The first roll map above is a roll map created for an electrode that has undergone a preceding process of the roll-to-roll process illustrated in Fig. 3. In addition, the second roll map above is a roll map created for an electrode that has undergone the roll-to-roll process illustrated in Fig. 3. The first roll map may have a first length (A), and the second roll map may have a second length (B).
[0088] As described above, since the second roll map receives tension in the longitudinal direction while going through the roll-to-roll process, the second length (B) may be greater than the first length (A). The difference between the lengths of the first roll map and the second roll map may be (BA). Since the length (A) of the first roll map and the length (B) of the second roll map are different, it may be unreasonable to directly correspond the coordinates on the first roll map to find the corresponding position on the second roll map for any arbitrary position on the first roll map.
[0089] The electrode represented by the first roll map can be seen to have its length uniformly and proportionally changed as a whole while undergoing the roll-to-roll process illustrated in Fig. 3. In other words, it can be assumed that a constant tension is applied to the electrode represented by the first roll map as the roll-to-roll process is performed, and if so, it can be assumed that the change in length of the electrode also occurs proportionally.
[0090] Taking these points into account, it is possible to map a position on the second roll map corresponding to an arbitrary position on the first roll map. Specifically, it is assumed that position P1 on the first roll map moves to position P2 on the second roll map due to a change in the length of the electrode (E1), and position P1 on the first roll map has a longitudinal coordinate C, and position P2 on the second roll map has a longitudinal coordinate M.
[0091] Assuming that the second roll map is longer than the first roll map, it can be seen that the longitudinal coordinate C of the location P1 has also moved proportionally to the longitudinal coordinate M of the location P2. In other words, it can be seen that the proportional equation A:B=C:M holds, and the longitudinal coordinate M of the location P2 can be obtained as in the following equation (1).
[0092] M=(B·C) / A (1)
[0093] The roll map creation device may be configured to map a longitudinal coordinate C on the first roll map to a longitudinal coordinate M on the second roll map. In some embodiments, the roll map creation device may separately create and store a new correction coordinate, which is a coordinate M, as correction data.
[0094] The above correction data may be provided in addition to the data of the first roll map. In some embodiments, the data of the first roll map may include coordinate data, measurement data, evaluation data, coordinate-related measurement data, etc. in a time series manner. The correction data may be stored in addition to the data of the first roll map. The correction data may be stored in the first server (150).
[0095] The above correction data can be generated after the electrode is completely wound on the rewinder (1113) illustrated in FIG. 3. Only after the electrode is completely wound on the rewinder (1113), the measurement of the length (B) of the electrode of the second roll map by the second rotary encoder (1125) can be completed. Thereafter, the correction data can be generated using the length (B) of the electrode.
[0096] In some embodiments, the roll map creation device may be configured to create an overlay roll map using the correction data. FIG. 5 is a conceptual diagram illustrating the relationship between the overlay roll map, the first roll map, and the second roll map.
[0097] Referring to Fig. 5, the overlay roll map may be a roll map integrated into a single roll map by matching the first roll map and the second roll map. The overlay roll map may be a roll map additionally created in addition to the first roll map and the second roll map.
[0098] In some embodiments, the overlay roll map may be created by the roll map creation device. In some embodiments, the overlay roll map may be created by the first server (150).
[0099] The above roll map creation device can create an overlay roll map by mapping coordinate C in the longitudinal direction of an arbitrary location P1 on the first roll map and coordinate data, measurement data, evaluation data, coordinate-related measurement data, etc. corresponding to the location P1 to coordinate M in the longitudinal direction of a corresponding location P2 on the second roll map.
[0100] The above overlay roll map may include coordinate data, measurement data, evaluation data, and coordinate-related measurement data on the second roll map. Furthermore, the above overlay roll map may further include coordinate data, measurement data, evaluation data, and coordinate-related measurement data on the first roll map corresponding to each coordinate data on the second roll map.
[0101] Any position on an electrode and the length of the electrode on the roll map can be represented as coordinates on the electrode. Fig. 6 is a schematic diagram showing relative and absolute coordinates on a visualized exemplary roll map.
[0102] Referring to Fig. 6, the roll map representing the electrode (E1) has a shape extending in the longitudinal direction and may have longitudinal coordinates depending on the longitudinal position. The electrode (E1) may have absolute coordinates (AC) and relative coordinates (RC) in the longitudinal direction.
[0103] With respect to the absolute coordinates (AC) of the electrode (E1) illustrated in Fig. 6, the right end of the electrode (E1) can be represented as 0 and the left end as 100. However, the setting of these coordinates is for convenience, and it will be understood that a person skilled in the art can arbitrarily assign coordinates to the electrode as needed.
[0104] However, during the process of processing the electrode (E1), a defect (F) may occur in the middle. In addition, in order to remove the defect (F) that has occurred, the portion where the defect (F) has occurred can be removed. When the portion where the defect (F) has occurred is removed, the overall length of the electrode (E1) is shortened accordingly. In Fig. 6, an example is shown in which a defect (F) has occurred between coordinates 45 and 48 on the absolute coordinate (AC), and the section between coordinates 45 and 48 on the absolute coordinate (AC) has been removed.
[0105] In order to remove the section between coordinates 45 and 48 on the absolute coordinates (AC), a first cutting portion (C1) that cuts the electrode (E1) in the width direction at coordinates 45 on the absolute coordinates (AC) can be formed, and a second cutting portion (C2) that cuts the electrode (E1) in the width direction at coordinates 48 on the absolute coordinates (AC) can be formed.
[0106] By removing the section between the first cut portion (C1) and the second cut portion (C2), i.e., the section between the coordinates 45 and 48 on the absolute coordinates (AC), the first cut portion (C1) and the second cut portion (C2) can be connected to each other. Accordingly, the point at the coordinate 48 on the absolute coordinates (AC) is combined with the point at the coordinate 45 on the absolute coordinates (AC) and has the relative coordinate 45.
[0107] If there is no removed section between coordinate 0 and coordinate 45 on the absolute coordinate (AC), coordinate 45 on the absolute coordinate (AC) can also have coordinate 45 on the relative coordinate (RC). However, since the section between coordinate 45 and coordinate 48 on the absolute coordinate (AC) is removed, coordinate 48 on the absolute coordinate (AC) can have coordinate 45 on the relative coordinate (RC). In addition, the section from coordinate 48 to coordinate 100 on the absolute coordinate (AC) has coordinate 45 to coordinate 97 on the relative coordinate (RC). In other words, the relative coordinate (RC) has a coordinate value that is reduced by the length of the electrode that was previously removed compared to the absolute coordinate (AC).
[0108] That is, the absolute coordinates (AC) of the electrode (E1) may include both the coordinate values of the electrode removal portion (R) of the electrode (E1) and the remaining survival electrode portion (S) that is not removed. In addition, the relative coordinates (RC) of the electrode (E1) may include only the coordinate values of the survival electrode portion (S).
[0109] Referring again to FIGS. 4 and 5, the length (A) of the first roll map and the length (B) of the second roll map may be lengths based on the absolute coordinates (AC). Therefore, when matching an arbitrary position P1 on the first roll map to a corresponding position P2 on the second roll map according to the above equation (1), the length (A) of the first roll map, the length (B) of the second roll map, and the longitudinal coordinate C of the arbitrary position P1 on the first roll map may all be lengths and coordinates based on the absolute coordinates.
[0110] As described above, the correction data may be provided in addition to the data of the first roll map. In some embodiments, the correction data may be stored correlated with the corresponding coordinates of the first roll map.
[0111] In some embodiments, the roll map creation device can update the relative coordinates of the first roll map using the correction data. In some embodiments, the roll map creation device can read the absolute coordinates corresponding to each relative coordinate of the first roll map and then calculate the absolute coordinates of the second roll map corresponding to the absolute coordinates of the first roll map using the correction data. Thereafter, the roll map creation device can read the relative coordinates corresponding to the absolute coordinates of the second roll map and correspond them to the relative coordinates of the first roll map.
[0112]
[0113] Referring again to FIG. 3, the first server (150) can generate a visualization command (VC) for visualizing the second roll map. The first server (150) can transmit the visualization command (VC) to the display device (160), and the display device (160) can visualize the second roll map and display the visualized second roll map.
[0114] In some embodiments, the processing unit (1133) may be configured to transmit coordinate-related measurement data (CMD) and / or coordinate data (CD) to the second server (180). According to exemplary embodiments, the coordinate-related measurement data (CMD) and coordinate data (CD) may be transmitted to the second server (180) via the eIoT (170). The eIoT (170) may be a device for communication between the processing unit (1133) and the second server (180).
[0115] In some embodiments, the second server (180) may be configured to store and process electrode measurement data (MD). The second server (180) may continuously monitor the processing of the electrode based on the measurement data (MD), thereby managing the quality of the electrode processing. In exemplary embodiments, the second server (180) may be a statistical process controller (SPC). By collecting and analyzing manufacturing data in near real-time, the second server (180) may promptly identify problem conditions and provide alerts to operators before potential problems occur.
[0116] The third server (190) may be configured to store coordinate-related measurement data (CMD) transmitted from the first server (150). The third server (190) may be configured to store measurement data (MD) transmitted from the second server (180). If the first server (150) is an MES and the second server (180) is an SPC, they may not be suitable for long-term storage of coordinate-related measurement data (CMD), evaluation data (ED), and measurement data (MD). The third server (190) may be, for example, a data warehouse, and may store coordinate-related measurement data (CMD), evaluation data (ED), and measurement data (MD) for a long period of time based on the quality assurance period of the product, etc.
[0117] The processing unit (1133), the roll map PLC (1171), the process PLC (1143), the EIF (145), the first server (150), the eIoT (170), the second server (180), and the third server (190) may be implemented using hardware, firmware, software, and combinations thereof. For example, the processing unit (1133), the roll map PLC (1171), the process PLC (1143), the EIF (145), the first server (150), the eIoT (170), the second server (180), and the third server (190) may include computing devices such as workstation computers, desktop computers, laptop computers, and tablet computers. The processing unit (1133), the roll map PLC (1171), the process PLC (1143), the EIF (145), the first server (150), the eIoT (170), the second server (180), and the third server (190) may include any one of a simple controller, a complex processor such as a microprocessor, a CPU, a GPU, a processor configured by software, dedicated hardware, and firmware. The processing unit (1133), the roll map PLC (1171), the process PLC (1143), the EIF (145), the first server (150), the eIoT (170), the second server (180), and the third server (190) may be implemented by, for example, a general-purpose computer or application-specific hardware such as a DSP (Digital Signal Processor), an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), and an ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit).
[0118] The first server (150) and the second server (180) can generate the second roll map and the intermediate roll map. Since the first server (150) stores and processes a lot of data for general manufacturing management other than the second roll map, the second roll map stored in the first server (150) can include processed and simplified coordinate-related measurement data (CMD) instead of the original measurement data (MD). The second server (180) can store the original measurement data (MD) to operate as an SPC. The second server (180) can transmit the measurement data (MD) corresponding to a selected portion of the second roll map in response to a command from the first server (150).
[0119] The intermediate roll map may further include measurement data (MD) associated with the second roll map. That is, in addition to the second roll map, the intermediate roll map may further include measurement data (MD), which is original data. The measurement data (MD) may be associated with the second roll map based on a time value. Accordingly, the intermediate roll map may provide additional insight into workpiece quality, process performance, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) drill-down, anomaly detection, traceability, preventive maintenance, and predictive alerting.
[0120] The first server (150), the second server (180), and the third server (190) may include physical servers or cloud servers. The framework may include a protocol supporting data transmission so that the display device (160) can visualize data through a user interface and provide updated visualizations when new data is calculated by the first server (150) and the second server (180). The protocol supporting the data transmission may use HTML, JavaScript, and / or JSON.
[0121] The first server (150), the second server (180), and the third server (190) may include various Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for storing data in databases and other data management tools. The APIs may also be used to retrieve data from databases in various data management systems. The data management systems may provide access to the databases, pull data from the databases, retrieve data, and generate metrics. Metrics are tools for visualizing data. Metrics include time-series measurements and can be used for monitoring applications and generating status alerts.
[0122] The above roll-to-roll process equipment (110) can implement a plug-in architecture with an API for data acquisition to provide plug-and-play connectivity for the measuring instrument (1130) and additional measuring instruments and inspectors. This allows resources from a specific process step and site to be easily transferred to other processes and sites, or new resources to be easily introduced to each process step and site.
[0123] The data network between elements of the roll-to-roll process device (110) may include various types of communication channels, including unidirectional, bidirectional wired, and wireless communications. For example, the data network may include an industrial protocol network such as OPC, Modbus, ProfiNet, etc. The communication channel may be a dedicated conduit communication such as Universal Serial Bus (USB), IEEE 802 (Ethernet), IEEE 1394 (FireWire), or other high-speed data communication standards.
[0124] In some embodiments, the roll-to-roll process device (110) may further include a manual input system that allows an operator to input manufacturing data. The roll-to-roll process device (110) may allow for operator data entry using an input tool and computer-based input of manufacturing data, such as scraping an Excel file.

Here, the machine-readable medium may include any mechanism for storing and / or transmitting information in a form readable by a machine (e.g., a computing device). For example, the machine-readable medium may include a Read Only Memory (ROM), a Random Access Memory (RAM), a magnetic disk storage medium, an optical storage medium, a flash memory, an electrical, optical, acoustical, or other form of radio signal (e.g., a carrier wave, an infrared signal, a digital signal, etc.), and any other signal.
[0126] The processing unit (1133), the roll map PLC (1171), the process PLC (1143), the EIF (145), the first server (150), the eIoT (170), the second server (180), and the third server (190) may be configured with firmware, software, routines, and commands for performing the operations described above, or any processes described below. [0129] The process PLC (1143) can be implemented by software configured to generate control signals for controlling the unwinder (1111), the rewinder (1113) and the processing machine (1115) based on the product ID and the product recipe, receive coordinate data (CD) and coordinate-related measurement data (CMD), and transmit the coordinate data (CD) and coordinate-related measurement data (CMD).
[0130] EIF (145) may be implemented by software for relaying the transmission of data and information between the process PLC (1143) and the first server (150). More specifically, EIF (145) may be implemented by software configured to perform flow control, error control, synchronization, order control, addressing, multiplexing, routing, and format conversion of communication between the process PLC (1143) and the first server (150).
