[0019] As described in the background art, the display device has poor electrostatic protection capabilities, and the key pins of the driver chip and the related circuits connected thereto are easily damaged, affecting the display or touch performance of the display module. The inventors have found that the reason for the above-mentioned problem is that in the display device, the driver chip is connected to the flexible circuit board via the key pins, and the flexible circuit board is connected to the mainboard. The flexible circuit board can transmit the signal received from the mainboard to the key pins of the driver chip, so that the driver chip generates a driving signal according to the signal received by its key pins and sends it to the display screen, so that the display screen works (including display and touch) under the drive of the driving signal. In the related art, when the display module is subjected to electrostatic testing, static electricity is usually applied to the connector connected to the flexible circuit board. The static electricity reaches the key pins of the driver chip through the flexible circuit board. When the static electricity exceeds the load of the electrostatic protection circuit that the key pins of the driver chip can withstand, the key pins and the related circuits connected thereto may be damaged, so that the key pins cannot normally receive the signal transmitted by the flexible circuit board. Therefore, the driving signal generated by the driver chip will be affected, which ultimately causes the display or touch performance of the display module to be affected. During the transportation and use of the display device, static electricity is inevitably introduced. For the same reason, the display and touch performance of the display device will also be affected.
[0020] Based on the above reasons, an embodiment of the present application provides a display module. Figure 1 is a structural schematic diagram of a display module provided by an embodiment of the present application. Referring to Figure 1, the display module includes a display screen 100 and a driver chip 200, wherein the display screen includes a display area AA and a non-display area NAA; the driver chip 200 is arranged in the non-display area NAA of the display screen 100, and is at least used to generate a driving signal for driving the display screen; the driver chip 200 includes at least one first pin A1 and at least one second pin A2, and the driving signal generated by the driver chip 200 is related to the signal transmitted by the first pin A1; the driving signal generated by the driver chip 200 is not related to the signal transmitted by the second pin A2; at least one first pin A1 and one second pin A2 are electrically connected.
[0021] Specifically, the display screen 100 can be an organic light-emitting diode display screen, a liquid crystal display screen, or a micro-light-emitting diode display screen, or can be other types of display screens, which are not limited in this embodiment. The display screen 100 may include a driving circuit layer and a display function layer, wherein the driving circuit layer includes a display driving circuit that drives the display function layer to display. Exemplarily, when the display screen 100 is an organic light-emitting diode display screen, the display function layer includes an organic light-emitting diode. In some embodiments of the present application, the display screen 100 may also include a touch function layer to realize the touch function of the display device. When the display screen 100 includes a touch function layer, the driving circuit layer includes touch-related devices and circuits.
[0022] The driving signal generated by the driver chip 200 is correlated with the signal transmitted by the first pin A1. The so-called correlation means that the driving signal generated by the driver chip 200 changes as the signal transmitted by the first pin A1 changes. Exemplarily, this can be implemented by connecting the driver chip 200 to the motherboard and the display screen 100 of the display device. The driver chip 200 can receive the motherboard output signal and generate a driving signal for the display screen 100 based on the motherboard output signal. The motherboard output signal may include a power signal required by the digital circuit, a Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) data signal, etc. The driving signal includes a display driving signal and a touch driving signal. The display driving signal includes a clock signal, a high-level signal, a low-level signal, and a start signal required by the gate driving circuit on the display screen 100, and also includes a data voltage signal required by the pixel circuit; the touch driving signal includes a touch detection signal, which may be a touch detection voltage. The driver chip 200 includes a plurality of first pins A1. The driver chip 200 is electrically connected to the motherboard via the first pins A1, or to circuit components on a flexible circuit board via the first pins A1. After the motherboard output signal is transmitted to the first pins A1, the driver chip 200 generates a driving signal based on the motherboard output signal received by the first pins A1. Therefore, the driving signal generated by the driver chip 200 is related to the signal transmitted by the first pins A1.
[0023] The driver chip 200 also includes a second pin A2, which is a pin that transmits a signal that is unrelated to the display screen 100 driving signal generated by the driver chip 200. The driving signal generated by the driver chip 200 is unrelated to the signal transmitted by the second pin A2. By unrelated, it is meant that the driving signal generated by the chip has no connection with the signal transmitted by the second pin A2. The transmission lines of the first pin A1 and the second pin A2 are independent of each other. Exemplarily, the second pin A2 can be a non-enabled pin reserved on the driver chip 200. Among them, the reserved non-enabled pins are divided into at least two categories. The first category is the pins reserved to ensure that the driver chip 200 can be applied to different types of display screens 100. Specifically, in order to ensure that the driver chip 200 can be applied to different types of display screens 100, the pins set on the driver chip 200 cover the pins that are applied to multiple types of display screens 100. Therefore, when the driver chip 200 is applied to a certain type of display screen 100, some pins do not need to be used, and the pins that do not need to be used are used as the second pin A2. The second category is pins required for use in a debug mode of the driver chip 200 . After the display device leaves the factory, the debug pins are no longer needed, and thus the debug pins can also serve as the second pins A2 .
[0024] The driver chip 200 includes multiple electrostatic protection circuits. Each first pin A1 is electrically connected to an electrostatic protection circuit, and each second pin A2 is electrically connected to an electrostatic protection circuit. Electrical connection means that two ends are electrically connected through a wire.
[0025] In related art, the second pin A2 is not electrically connected to the motherboard, while the first pin A1 is electrically connected to the motherboard. Specifically, the first pin A1 is connected to the flexible circuit board, which is connected to the connector, which is connected to the motherboard, thereby achieving an electrical connection between the first pin A1 and the motherboard. When performing an electrostatic test, it is necessary to apply static electricity from the connector to the display module. The static electricity will be transmitted along the conductive circuit to the first pin A1 of the driver chip 200. The first pin A1 is connected to a corresponding electrostatic protection circuit. If the static electricity is too high and exceeds the range that the electrostatic protection circuit connected to the first pin A1 can withstand, it will cause damage to the first pin A1 or the related circuits connected to the first pin A1. In this embodiment, by electrically connecting first pin A1 to second pin A2, the static electricity energy that would otherwise reach first pin A1 is partially transferred to second pin A2. This allows the static electricity protection circuit connected to first pin A1 and the static electricity protection circuit connected to second pin A2 to jointly bear the intruding static electricity load, thereby reducing the static electricity energy borne by first pin A1 and thereby reducing the risk of damage to first pin A1 and related circuits connected to first pin A1. Because the display screen 100 drive signal generated by driver chip 200 is unrelated to the signal transmitted by second pin A2, static electricity transmitted to second pin A2 has no effect on the display performance and touch performance of the display module. For the same reason, the risk of damage to first pin A1 and related circuits connected to first pin A1 is also reduced when static electricity is introduced during transportation and use of the display device. This will not be further discussed here.
[0026] In this embodiment, at least one first pin A1 is electrically connected to at least one second pin A2. Specifically, due to the limited number of second pins A2, in this embodiment, only some of the first pins A1 among the multiple first pins A1 can be electrically connected to the second pin A2, and in particular, key pins among the multiple first pins A1 can be selected to be electrically connected to the second pin A2. The key pins may include pins for transmitting power signals required for digital circuits and pins for transmitting MIPI data signals. It should be noted that when the number of second pins A2 is sufficient, each first pin A1 can be electrically connected to the second pin A2, thereby reducing the risk of electrostatic breakdown of each first pin A1 and the related circuits electrically connected thereto.
[0027] The display module of this embodiment includes a display screen and a driver chip. The driver chip includes at least one first pin and at least one second pin. The drive signal generated by the driver chip is related to the signal transmitted by the first pin; the display screen drive signal generated by the driver chip is independent of the signal transmitted by the second pin. By electrically connecting the at least one first pin and the at least one second pin, the electrostatic protection circuit electrically connected to the first pin and the electrostatic protection circuit connected to the second pin jointly withstand the intruding electrostatic load, reducing the risk of damage to the first pin and related circuits connected to the first pin, improving the electrostatic protection capability of the display module, ensuring the reliability of the signal transmitted by the first pin, and thereby improving the reliability of the display screen drive signal generated by the driver chip, thereby ensuring the display performance and touch performance of the display module.
[0028] Figure 2 is a structural schematic diagram of another display module provided in an embodiment of the present application. Referring to Figure 2, optionally, the display module also includes a flexible circuit board 300, and the flexible circuit board 300 includes at least one third pin A3 and at least one fourth pin A4; wherein the at least one third pin A3 is electrically connected to the at least one first pin A1, and the at least one fourth pin A4 is electrically connected to the at least one second pin A2; the flexible circuit board 300 also includes a connecting wire, and the third pin A3 and the fourth pin A4 are electrically connected through the connecting wire 400 to electrically connect the first pin A1 electrically connected to the third pin A3 and the second pin A2 electrically connected to the fourth pin A4.
[0029] Specifically, the flexible circuit board 300 is bonded to the non-display area NAA of the display screen 100 and is provided with pins that connect one-to-one with the pins of the driver chip 200. The flexible circuit board 300 is also electrically connected to the mainboard, thereby receiving motherboard output signals from the mainboard and transmitting them to the driver chip 200. The pins of the flexible circuit board 300 include a third pin A3 and a fourth pin A4. The third pin A3 is electrically connected one-to-one with the first pin A1 of the driver chip 200, thereby transmitting the motherboard output signal received from the mainboard to the first pin A1 of the driver chip 200. The fourth pin A4 is electrically connected to the second pin A2 of the driver chip 200, thereby transmitting the signal from the fourth pin A4 of the flexible circuit board 300 to the second pin A2 of the driver chip 200. In this embodiment, the flexible circuit board 300 includes a connecting wire 400. The connecting wire 400 can electrically connect the third pin A3 and the fourth pin A4, thereby electrically connecting the first pin A1 to which the third pin A3 is electrically connected and the second pin A2 to which the fourth pin A4 is electrically connected. That is, by providing the connecting wire 400 on the flexible circuit board 300, the first pin A1 and the second pin A2 of the driver chip 200 are electrically connected. Therefore, when static electricity enters the driver chip 200 from the flexible circuit board 300, the electrostatic protection circuit connected to the first pin A1 and the electrostatic protection circuit connected to the second pin A2 jointly bear the intruding static electricity load, thereby reducing the risk of damage to the first pin A1 and related circuits connected to the first pin A1. Furthermore, since the connection between the first pin A1 and the second pin A2 is implemented on the flexible circuit board 300, when the second pin A2 of the driver chip 200 needs to be activated, it is only necessary to unbind the flexible circuit board 300 of the display module from the display screen 100 and then connect the display screen 100 to other flexible circuit boards 300 or circuit components. There is no need to change the structure of the display screen 100. Therefore, the production of the display screen 100 can maintain the original masking steps, and no additional process steps are required for preparing the display module.
[0030] FIG3 is a schematic structural diagram of another display module provided in an embodiment of the present application, and FIG4 is a schematic structural diagram of a specific embodiment of the connector in FIG3 being connected to the third pin and the fourth pin via a connecting wire. In order to clearly illustrate the structure of the connecting wire 400, FIG4 only shows the structure of one connecting wire 400 as an example. Referring to FIG3 and FIG4, optionally, the display module further includes a connector 500, the connector 500 including a plurality of connection ports; the connector 500 including a plurality of connection ports; the connecting wire 400 includes a first connecting segment 410 and a second connecting segment 420, the first end of the first connecting segment 410 and the first end of the second connecting segment 420 being electrically connected to the same connection port, the second end of the first connecting segment 410 being electrically connected to the third pin A3, and the second end of the second connecting segment 420 being electrically connected to the fourth pin A4; the line width of the second connecting segment 420 being greater than the line width of the first connecting segment 410; and / or the line length of the second connecting segment 420 being less than the line length of the first connecting segment 410.
[0031] The connector 500 may also include multiple input ports, wherein the input ports are connected to the mainboard of the display device; the connection ports of the connector 500 are connected to the pins of the flexible circuit board 300 (the pins of the flexible circuit board 300 include the third pin A3 and the fourth pin A4), and the pins of the flexible circuit board 300 are connected to the pins of the driver chip 200 (the pins of the driver chip 200 include the first pin A1 and the second pin A2), thereby achieving an electrical connection between the mainboard and the driver chip 200. The flexible circuit board 300 is also provided with a device area 310, which is provided with circuit components. Depending on the actual needs of the driver chip 200, some of the first pins A1 can be connected to the circuit components in the device area 310.
[0032] Specifically, the line width of the second connecting segment 420 is greater than the line width of the first connecting segment 410. This allows the charge transfer speed in the second connecting segment 420 to be greater than the charge transfer speed in the first connecting segment 410. This facilitates the transfer of more static electricity energy to the second pin A2, thereby further reducing the amount of static electricity energy reaching the first pin A1 and the risk of damage to the first pin A1 and the associated circuits connected to it. The display screen 100 drive signal generated by the driver chip 200 is unrelated to the signal transmitted by the second pin A2. Even if the second pin A2 and the associated circuits connected to it are damaged by static electricity due to excessive static electricity load, it will not affect the display performance and touch performance of the display module.
[0033] The length of the second connecting segment 420 is shorter than that of the first connecting segment 410. This ensures that charges simultaneously output from the same connection port of the connector 500 reach the fourth pin A4 sooner than the third pin A3. This facilitates the transfer of more electrostatic energy to the second pin A2, further reducing the amount of electrostatic energy reaching the first pin A1 and the risk of damage to the first pin A1 and the associated circuitry connected to it. Furthermore, the display screen 100 drive signal generated by the driver chip 200 is unrelated to the signal transmitted by the second pin A2. Even if the second pin A2 and the associated circuitry connected to it are damaged by electrostatic load, the display module's display and touch performance will not be affected.
[0034] Figure 5 is a structural schematic diagram of another display module provided in an embodiment of the present application. Referring to Figure 5, optionally, the non-display area NAA includes a bonding area NAA1, and the bonding area NAA1 is provided with a first bonding terminal B1 electrically connected to the first pin A1 and a second bonding terminal B2 electrically connected to the second pin A2; the third pin A3 is electrically connected to the first bonding terminal B1, and the fourth pin A4 is electrically connected to the second bonding terminal B2.
[0035] Specifically, the first pin A1 and the second pin A2 of the driver chip 200 can be connected to the corresponding first bonding terminal B1 and the second bonding terminal B2 via wiring on the display screen 100. The third pin A3 of the flexible circuit board 300 can be electrically connected to the first bonding terminal B1 by crimping or connecting with conductive adhesive, and the fourth pin A4 of the flexible circuit board 300 can be electrically connected to the second bonding terminal B2 by crimping or connecting with conductive adhesive.
[0036] Figure 6 is a structural schematic diagram of another display module provided in an embodiment of the present application. Referring to Figure 6, optionally, the non-display area NAA includes a bonding area NAA1, and the bonding area NAA1 is provided with a third bonding terminal B3. The third bonding terminal B3 is a test pin of a display test circuit on the display screen 100. The test pin is used to access a test data signal when testing the display screen 100; at least one first pin A1 is electrically connected to at least one third bonding terminal B3.
[0037] Specifically, before bonding the display screen 100 to the driver chip 200 and the flexible circuit board 300, the display screen 100 needs to be tested. During testing, a test signal is typically input into the display screen 100 via a needle insertion method. During testing, the third bonding terminal B3 is electrically connected to the circuit structure in the display area AA of the display screen 100. This electrical connection of the third bonding terminal B3 by the needle insertion allows the test data signal to be transmitted to the circuit structure in the display area AA of the display screen 100. After the display module bonds the driver chip 200 and the flexible circuit board 300, the third bonding terminal B3 is electrically disconnected from the circuit structure in the display area AA of the display screen 100, preventing the transmission of signals to the circuit structure in the display area AA of the display screen 100. Therefore, after the display device leaves the factory, the driving signal of the display screen 100 is unrelated to the signal transmitted by the third bonding terminal B3. In this embodiment, at least one first pin A1 of the driver chip 200 is electrically connected to the third bonding terminal B3. This allows the ESD protection circuit connected to the first pin A1 and the ESD protection circuit connected to the third bonding terminal B3 to jointly withstand the intruding electrostatic load. This reduces the electrostatic energy experienced by the first pin A1, thereby reducing the risk of damage to the first pin A1 and the associated circuitry connected to the first pin A1. Since the display screen 100 drive signal generated by the driver chip 200 is unrelated to the signal transmitted by the third bonding terminal B3, static electricity transmitted to the third bonding terminal B3 has no impact on the display and touch performance of the display module. Because the number of second pins A2 of the driver chip 200 is limited, by electrically connecting some of the driver chip 200 pins to the third bonding terminal B3, more first pins A1 can be connected to pins unrelated to the display screen 100 drive signal output by the driver chip 200. This reduces the electrostatic load experienced by more first pins A1 and further enhances the display module's ESD protection capabilities. In some optional embodiments of the present application, the first pin A1 can be connected to the second pin A2 and the third bonding terminal B3 at the same time, thereby further reducing the risk of the first pin A1 and the related circuits connected to the first pin A1 being damaged.
[0038] Continuing with reference to Figure 6, in order to control the electrical connection status between the test pin and the circuit structure in the display area of the display screen 100, optionally, the display screen 100 is provided with a control switch 600 electrically connected to the test pin in a one-to-one correspondence, the control end of the control switch 600 is electrically connected to the driver chip 200, the first end of the control switch 600 is electrically connected to the corresponding test pin, and the second end of the control switch 600 is connected to the drive signal line in the display screen 100; the driver chip 200 is used to control the control switch 600 to be turned off when the display screen 100 is working.
[0039] Specifically, when testing the display screen 100 before bonding the display screen 100 to the driver chip 200, a probe can be inserted into the control terminal of the control switch 600 to provide a conduction control signal to the control terminal of the control switch 600, thereby turning on the control switch 600. The first terminal of the control switch 600 is connected to a test data signal through the probe, which is then transmitted to the second terminal of the control switch 600. The test data signal is then transmitted to the drive signal line, and then to the circuit structure of the display area via the drive signal line, thereby testing the display screen 100. After the display screen 100 is tested and the display screen 100 is bonded to the driver chip 200, the driver chip 200 is electrically connected to the control end of the control switch 600. When the display screen 100 is operating, for example, when the display screen 100 is displaying and / or touching, the driver chip 200 sends a shutdown control signal to the control switch 600, causing the control switch 600 to be turned off, thereby connecting the test pin to the first pin A1, sharing the electrostatic energy borne by the first pin A1, and not affecting the display performance and touch performance of the display screen 100.
[0040] Optionally, the display screen test circuit can be a display screen lighting test circuit (i.e., a dot screen test circuit) or a display screen touch test circuit. When the display screen test circuit is a display screen lighting test circuit, the drive signal line is a data line, and the test data signal is a data voltage. When the display screen test circuit is a display screen touch test circuit, the drive signal line is a touch signal line, and the test data signal is a touch detection voltage.
[0041] When multiple first pins A1 are electrically connected to third bonding terminals B3, different first pins A1 are connected to different third bonding terminals B3. This means that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the first pins A1 and the third bonding terminals B3. This arrangement prevents mutual interference between signals transmitted by different first pins A1, ensuring proper operation of the driver chip 200.
[0042] Continuing to refer to Figure 1, based on the above embodiments, optionally, each first pin A1 is set in the first area 210 of the driver chip 200, and each second pin A2 is set in the second area 220 of the driver chip 200. The connection direction of the first area 210 and the second area 220 is the first direction x1, and the first direction x1 is perpendicular to the second direction y1. The second direction y1 is the connection direction between the driver chip 200 and the display screen 100.
[0043] Specifically, the first pin A1 is set in the same area, the second pin A2 is set in the same area, and the first pin A1 and the second pin A2 are set in different areas. After the driver chip 200 is connected to the flexible circuit board 300, the signal line connecting the first pin A1 and the main board on the flexible circuit board 300 (hereinafter referred to as the transmission signal line) is also relatively concentrated, so that the signal line connected to the second pin A2 is introduced as little as possible between the transmission signal lines, which is easier to implement in terms of wiring and has less impact on the signal transmitted by the transmission signal line.
[0044] FIG7 is a schematic diagram of the structure of another display module provided in an embodiment of the present application. Referring to FIG7 , optionally, the driver chip 200 includes two second regions 220, and the first region 210 is disposed between the two second regions 220. This arrangement allows the first pin A1 to be located in a relatively middle region of the driver chip 200 in the first direction x1, thereby minimizing the number of signal lines connected to the second pin A2 intervening between transmission signal lines, making wiring easier.
[0045] Based on the above embodiments, when multiple first pins A1 are electrically connected to multiple second pins A2, different first pins A1 are electrically connected to different second pins A2. This arrangement ensures that different first pins A1 are not electrically connected to each other, preventing mutual influence between signals transmitted by first pins A1, ensuring the normal operation of the driver chip 200, and further ensuring good display and touch performance of the display screen 100.
[0046] Based on the above embodiments, at least one first pin A1 can optionally be electrically connected to multiple second pins A2. This configuration allows the electrostatic energy that would otherwise reach the first pin A1 to be shared by multiple second pins A2 and the first pin A1, further reducing the electrostatic load on the first pin A1 and, in turn, the risk of damage to the first pin A1 and related circuits connected to it.
[0047] The present application also provides a display device. FIG8 is a schematic structural diagram of a display device provided in an embodiment of the present application. Referring to FIG8 , the display device 1 provided in an embodiment of the present application includes a display module 10 provided in any of the above embodiments of the present application. The display device can be a mobile phone as shown in FIG8 , or a computer, a television, a smart wearable display device, etc., and the present application does not specifically limit this.
