Abstract
Description
Lighting devices and lamps
[0001] Embodiments of the invention relate to lighting devices and lamps.
[0002] Lighting applications include not only vehicle lighting but also backlighting for displays and signage. Light-emitting devices, such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs), offer advantages over conventional light sources such as fluorescent and incandescent lamps, including low power consumption, a near-permanent lifespan, fast response times, safety, and environmental friendliness. LEDs are used in various lighting devices, including various display devices, indoor and outdoor lights, and lamps that utilize LEDs as vehicle light sources. Compared to incandescent lamps, LEDs offer the advantage of lower power consumption. However, because the light emitted from LEDs has a small angle of incidence, there is a need to increase the light-emitting area of LED lamps when using LEDs in vehicle lamps. [0043]
[0044] The first light-emitting surface (E1) of the first light-emitting portion (12) may be positioned at the same height based on the upper surface of the first substrate (11). When the first light-emitting surface (E1) emits light, the inner open area (14) may have a circular or polygonal shape. The propagation paths of the first and second lights (L1, L2) may be in the same direction due to the optical member (50). At this time, when viewed from the observer's side, the lighting image may be shown in the form of an image (IM2') of a virtual second light-emitting surface (E2', E3') being superimposed on the inside of the image of the first light-emitting surface (E1). Accordingly, as in (A)(B) of FIG. 5, the lighting image may be provided as an image in which images of second light-emitting surfaces (E2', E3') having different heights are superimposed on the inside of the image of the first light-emitting surface (E1). [0048] FIG. 6 is a modified example of FIG. 4, wherein a plurality of second light-emitting parts (22, 23) of the second light source part (20) may have different thicknesses and a predetermined interval from each other. The adjacent second light-emitting parts (22, 23) may be spaced apart from each other in the first optical axis direction. As another example, the adjacent second light-emitting parts (22, 23) may be spaced apart from each other in the first optical axis direction that is orthogonal to the second optical axis direction. The second optical axis direction of the second light-emitting parts (22, 23) is a direction perpendicular to the second light-emitting surface (E2, E3). That is, the 2-2 light-emitting part (23) may be arranged inside the 2-1 light-emitting part (22). The height of the 2-2 light-emitting surface (E3) of the 2-2 light-emitting portion (23) based on the upper surface of the substrate (21) may be greater than the height of the 2-1 light-emitting surface (E2) of the 2-1 light-emitting portion (22).
[0049] The optical member (50) transmits the first light (L1) having the image of the first light-emitting surface (E1) of the first light source unit (10), and reflects and emits the second light (L2) having the image of the second light-emitting surface (E2, E3) of the second light source unit (20). At this time, when viewed from the observer's side, the lighting image can be seen in the form of an image (IM3') of a virtual second light-emitting surface (E2', E3') being superimposed on the inside of the image of the first light-emitting surface (E1). Accordingly, the lighting image can be provided as an image in which images of virtual second light-emitting surfaces (E2', E3') having different heights and spaced apart from each other are superimposed on the inside of the image of the first light-emitting surface (E1). Alternatively, the lighting image can be displayed in a form in which patterns of second light-emitting surfaces (E2', E3') having different heights are superimposed on the inside of the pattern of the first light-emitting surface (E1). Here, the second light-emitting surface (E2', E3') may be provided in a shape spaced apart in the second optical axis direction orthogonal to the first optical axis of the first light source unit (10). In addition, when the lighting image is viewed from a different angle, for example, an oblique angle rather than a frontal angle, the images of the first light-emitting surface (E1) and the second light-emitting surface (E2', E3') may be provided as a three-dimensional image having different heights and a shape spaced apart from each other.
[0050]
[0051] FIG. 7 is a modified example of FIG. 4, in which a plurality of second light-emitting parts (22, 23) of the second light source part (20) are formed in a form in which unit light-emitting groups are spaced apart and may have different thicknesses. The adjacent groups of the second light-emitting parts (22, 23) may be spaced apart from each other in the first optical axis direction of the first light-emitting part (21). As another example, the unit groups of the second light-emitting parts (22, 23) may be spaced apart from each other in the first optical axis direction orthogonal to the second optical axis. Here, each of the unit groups includes at least one 2-1 light-emitting part (22) and at least one 2-2 light-emitting part (23), and the interval between the unit groups may be greater than the interval between the 2-1 light-emitting part (22) and the 2-2 light-emitting part (23) within the unit group. In addition, the adjacent unit groups may have the 2-1 light emitting parts (22) facing each other or arranged inside each other, and the 2-2 light emitting part (23) of each unit group may be arranged outside the 2-1 light emitting part (22) of each unit group.
[0052] The optical member (50) transmits the first light (L1) having the image of the first light-emitting surface (E1) of the first light source unit (10), and reflects and emits the second light (L2) having the image of the second light-emitting surface (E2, E3) of the second light source unit (20). At this time, when viewed from the observer's side, the lighting image can be seen in the form of an image (IM4') of a virtual second light-emitting surface (E2', E3') being superimposed on the inside of the image of the first light-emitting surface (E1). Accordingly, the lighting image can be provided as an image in which images of a group of virtual second light-emitting surfaces (E2', E3') having different heights and being spaced apart from each other are superimposed on the inside of the image of the first light-emitting surface (E1). Here, the group of virtual second light-emitting surfaces (E2', E3') can be provided in a shape spaced apart in a direction orthogonal to the optical axis of the first light source unit (10). In addition, when the above-mentioned lighting image is viewed from a different angle, for example, an oblique angle rather than a frontal angle, the images having the first light-emitting surface (E1) and the second light-emitting surfaces (E2', E3') can be provided as a three-dimensional image having different heights and a shape in which the unit groups are spaced apart from each other.
[0053]

The thickness of the 1-2 light-emitting unit (12B) may be thicker than the thickness of the 1-1 light-emitting unit (12A). The first-second light-emitting surface (E1B) of the first-second light-emitting portion (12B) may be higher than the height of the first-first light-emitting surface (E1A) of the first-first light-emitting portion (12A) based on the upper surface of the first substrate (11). It may be arranged on one side, both sides, or the periphery of the first-second light-emitting portion (12B) and the first-first light-emitting portion (12A). Accordingly, the light-emitting surfaces (E1A, E1B) of the first light-emitting portions (12A, 12B) may have different heights and be spaced apart from each other.
[0055] The second light emitting portion (24) of the second light source portion (20) may be provided in a triangular shape in which the center height of the second light emitting portion (24) is the highest on the upper surface of the second substrate (21) in the second optical axis direction of the second light source portion (20) and the height decreases toward both sides, and the second light emitting surface (E4) may have a shape that is inclined toward both sides of the center of the second light emitting portion (24). The inclined regions on both sides of the second light emitting surface (E4) of the second light emitting portion (24) may be connected to each other. The width of the second light emitting portion (24) in the first optical axis direction may be greater than the width of the first light emitting portions (12A, 12B) in the second optical axis direction. The width of the second light emitting surface (E4) in the first optical axis direction may be greater than the width of each of the first light emitting surfaces (E1A, E1B) in the second optical axis direction.
[0056] The optical member (50) transmits the first light (L1) having the image of the first light-emitting surface (E1A, E1B) of the first light source unit (10), and reflects and emits the second light (L2) having the image of the second light-emitting surface (E4) of the second light source unit (20). At this time, when viewed from the observer's side, the lighting image can be seen in the form of an image of a virtual second light-emitting surface (E4') being superimposed on the image of the first light-emitting surface (E1A, E1B). When the second light-emitting surface (E4) and the 1-1 light-emitting surface (E1A) are superimposed, the width of the second light-emitting surface (E4) can be greater than the width of the 1-1 light-emitting surface (E1A). Accordingly, the lighting image can be provided as an image in which an image of a virtual second light-emitting surface (E4') having different heights and being inclined is superimposed on the image of the first light-emitting surface (E1A, E1B). Here, the virtual second light-emitting surface (E4') can overlap the light-emitting surface (E1A) of the first light-emitting portion (12A) centered on the first light source portion (10) in the first optical axis direction of the first light source portion (10). When the lighting image is viewed from a different angle, for example, an oblique angle rather than a frontal view, the light-emitting surfaces (E1A, E1B, E4') can have different heights and different shapes and be provided as a three-dimensional image.
[0057]
[0058] Referring to Fig. 9, the first to third light source units (10, 20, 30) may be arranged in different directions of the optical member (60). For example, the first and second light source units (10, 20) may be arranged in directions orthogonal to each other, and the first and third light source units (10, 30) may be arranged in directions orthogonal to each other. The third light source unit (30) and the second light source unit (20) may be arranged on opposite sides with respect to the optical member (60).
[0059] The optical member (60) transmits the first light (L1) emitted from the first light source unit (10), reflects the second light (L2) emitted from the second light source unit (20), and reflects the third light (L3) emitted from the third light source unit (30). The optical member (60) is provided as a prism-shaped beam splitter and transmits or reflects the light (L1, L2, L3) in one direction. When viewed from the observer's side, the first image may be provided as an image in which the first and second lights (L1, L2) are superimposed, and the second image may be provided as an image in which the second and third lights (L2, L3) are superimposed. Accordingly, when viewed from the observer's side, the displayed image may be a first image in which the first and second lights (L1, L2) are superimposed and a second image in which the second and third lights (L2, L3) are superimposed, either simultaneously or individually. Additionally, the displayed image at an inclined angle can be provided as a stereoscopic image in which the first, second, and third lights (L1, L2, L3) are selectively superimposed.
