Abstract
Description
Security paper detection device and security paper printing device including the same
[0001] The present invention relates to a security paper detection device capable of detecting whether security paper is used and a security paper printing device including the same, and more particularly, to a technology capable of determining whether security paper is used, including a security paper detection sensor and a multi-feed detection sensor. In the present invention, the printing device includes not only a multi-function printer that integrates the functions of a printer, fax machine, copier, and scanner, but also a device that implements only the individual functions of a printer, fax machine, copier, and scanner.
[0002] Recently, with the rapid growth of corporations, security measures against corporate document leaks are being developed. To address this issue, a document security technology utilizing security paper has been recently developed. This security paper is a type of paper containing an amorphous alloy embedded in it. When subjected to an alternating magnetic field, it generates a signal that can distinguish the characteristics of the material.
[0003] Such security paper is detected by an electromagnetic (EM) sensor at the gate. That is, when an amorphous alloy in the security paper approaches an alternating magnetic field generated by the sensor, Barkhausen noise is generated in the amorphous alloy due to the alternating magnetic field, and the presence of security paper is detected by detecting the harmonic spectrum of this large Barkhausen noise. Such a sensor may include a transmitting coil that generates an alternating magnetic field, a receiving coil that detects a change in the alternating magnetic field generated by the transmitting coil, and an electronic system that controls the alternating magnetic field generated by the transmitting coil and processes a signal received by the receiving coil. Since the security paper is detected at the gate, leakage of printed matter printed on the security paper can be prevented.
[0004] Alternatively, the primary magnetic field generated from the inductive sensor induces an eddy current in the amorphous alloy of the paper being fed, and the secondary magnetic field generated by this eddy current affects the primary magnetic field generated by the inductive sensor and changes its intensity. Accordingly, the inductive sensor transmits a security paper detection signal to the control device depending on whether or not there is a change in the intensity of the magnetic field it generated. The printing device is controlled so that printing is performed only on security paper and not on general paper that is not security paper.
[0005] In the above-described conventional technology, as shown in FIG. 1, when security paper is attached to the back of the printing surface of general paper and printing is performed, the inductive sensor installed in the printing device recognizes the security paper behind the general paper as security paper and prints normally. After printing is completed, when the security paper attached to the back of the printing surface is removed and the general paper is passed through the gate, there is a problem in that the gate cannot detect the printed matter printed on the general paper, and such printed matter leaks out.
[0006] This is because the security paper detection sensor installed in the printing device cannot accurately recognize the thickness of the paper. Therefore, even if there is regular paper right in front of the security paper detection sensor, if there is security paper behind the regular paper, it recognizes a material (such as a metal wire) contained in the security paper behind it that can identify it as security paper. Therefore, when attempting to print by attaching regular paper to security paper, a technology that can accurately detect whether it is security paper is needed so that it is not recognized as security paper.

[0030] A security paper printing device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: the security paper detection device; a KCMY LED Head or LSU provided to a commercial printing device for forming an image to be printed on printing paper; a plurality of sensors installed on a paper transport path for checking the position of paper transported along a paper transport path provided to the commercial printing device; a driving unit provided to the commercial printing device for driving a roller to transport the paper along the paper transport path; a printer engine controller provided to the commercial printing device for transmitting printing data to the KCMY LED Head or LSU, receiving sensor signals from the plurality of sensors, and driving the driving unit; A switching unit is provided between the printer engine controller and the KCMY LED Head or LSU, between the printer engine controller and any one of the plurality of sensors, and between the printer engine controller and the driving unit, and is controlled by the control unit of the security paper detection device to switch ON / OFF the connection from the printer engine controller to the KCMY LED Head or LSU, to switch ON / OFF the connection from any one of the plurality of sensors to the printer engine controller, or to switch ON / OFF the connection from the printer engine controller to the driving unit.
[0031] Hereinafter, a security paper detection device and a security paper printing device including the same according to the present invention will be described based on the attached drawings. The following description describes a preferred example of the present invention.
[0032] As described above, the printing device in the present invention includes not only a multi-function printer that integrates the functions of a printer, fax machine, copier, and scanner, but also a device that implements only the individual functions of a printer, fax machine, copier, and scanner. Generally, a multi-function printer refers to a device that can implement the functions of a printer, fax machine, copier, and scanner. However, the present invention, as will be confirmed from the description below, distinguishes whether the paper being fed is plain paper or security paper and performs the printing (printing) task accordingly, so it may be understood to refer to a printer, fax machine, or copier, not a multi-function printer. In other words, even if it functions only as a printer or only as a copier, if the functions described below can be implemented according to the paper being fed, it will fall within the scope of the present invention. Alternatively, a typical multi-function printer that implements all of the above functions will naturally fall within the scope of the present invention.
[0033] In the present invention, the term "multi-transfer" encompasses both a situation in which two or more sheets of paper are overlapped and transported, and a case in which two or more sheets of paper are attached and transported (this is also referred to separately as "overlapping," but encompasses both cases).
[0034] FIG. 2 is a block diagram for explaining a security paper detection device according to an embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram for explaining a security paper detection device according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 4 is a schematic diagram showing an example of the installation positions of a transmitter and a receiver in a multi-transmission detection sensor.
[0035] Referring to FIGS. 2, 3, and 4, a security paper detection device (100) according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a transmission unit (111) and a reception unit (112) installed at positions facing each other at an acute angle with respect to a paper transport path (A) within a printing device, a transmission detection sensor (110) utilizing ultrasonic transmission characteristics, a security paper detection sensor (120) installed in the paper transport path (A) within the printing device, and a control unit (130) that determines whether paper is being fed based on a detection value from the transmission detection sensor (110) and determines whether the paper being fed is security paper or general paper based on a detection value from the security paper detection sensor (120), and if it is determined to be general paper or double-fed paper, it determines that the paper is being fed incorrectly and stops the printing function.
[0036] According to an embodiment, the security paper detection device (100) may be installed separately from the printing device. Here, “may be installed separately” means that it is installed as a separate device from an existing, normally operating printing device, and it does not necessarily have to be physically installed outside the printing device.
[0037] As shown in FIG. 4, the transmission detection device (110) can be installed in a commercial printing device such that the transmitter (111) and the receiver (112) are positioned facing each other at a predetermined acute angle with respect to the paper transport path (A) formed between the outer paper guide (1) and the inner paper guide (2), respectively, in the outer paper guide (1) and the inner paper guide (2).
[0038] The paper feed detection sensor (110) may be installed in front of the security paper detection sensor (120) in the paper transport path (A), or may be installed in the rear of the security paper detection sensor (120) in the paper transport path (A).
[0039] The control unit (130) causes the paper pick-up sensor of the commercial printing device to detect that paper is picked up (and that printing has started) regardless of whether the security paper detection sensor (120) is installed at the front or rear, and at the same time the paper pick-up sensor of the commercial printing device detects that paper is picked up (and that printing has started), causes the double-feed detection sensor (110) to start detecting whether or not there is a double-feed. It is preferable that the ultrasonic sensor of the double-feed detection sensor (110) operate only during the period in which it is necessary to detect whether or not there is a double-feed according to the control of the control unit (130). To this end, the control unit (130) can receive a signal from a sensor on the paper transport path, such as a paper pick-up sensor, of the commercial printing device, and when it receives a signal from a sensor (for example, a paper pick-up sensor) on the paper transport path installed immediately before the installation position of the double-feed detection sensor (110), it operates the ultrasonic sensor of the double-feed detection sensor (110) to detect whether or not the paper on the transport path for which double-feed detection is to be performed is double-feeded or overlapped.
[0040] The security paper detection sensor (120) detects whether there is an amorphous alloy in the printing paper, and the feed detection sensor (110) detects whether the paper being fed is feed paper.
[0041] The multi-transmission detection sensor (110) utilizes the characteristic that when the ultrasonic waves generated in the transmitter (111) pass through the air layer and then pass through the paper (i.e., when passing through another medium), the direction of ultrasonic wave propagation is refracted. When a single piece of paper passes through, that is, in the order of air layer, paper, and air layer, the refraction is small and the ultrasonic waves reach the receiver (112) on the opposite side. However, when multiple pieces of paper (multi-transmission or overlapped paper) pass through, that is, when passing through multiple different media such as air layer, paper, air layer, paper, and air layer, the refraction becomes severe and the ultrasonic waves do not reach the receiver (112) on the opposite side. Regardless of the thickness of a single piece of paper being passed through, it utilizes the fact that the refraction of the ultrasonic waves becomes rapidly severe due to another medium such as the air layer between the papers through the multi-transmission or overlapped paper, and thus has the advantage that the discrimination performance is not greatly affected by the precision of the installation position or the thickness of the paper.
[0042] There is a method to determine whether or not it is double-layered by measuring the distance to the paper from the top and bottom using the reflection of sound waves rather than ultrasonic waves, but in this method, the thickness of the paper, which is generally about 0.1 mm, must be detected, and in this case, the accuracy of the sensor installation location must be managed to less than 0.1 mm, and it is very difficult to manage errors caused by paper bending, movement, etc. In addition, there is a disadvantage in that it is difficult to distinguish between a single thick sheet of paper and double-layered or multi-layered thick paper even if the paper is the same thickness.
[0043] Figure 5 is a block diagram illustrating an example of the configuration of a multi-transmission detection sensor.
[0044] Referring to FIG. 5, according to an embodiment, a transmitter (111) in a transmission detection sensor (110) includes an ultrasonic transducer (111a) and an oscillator (111b) connected to the ultrasonic transducer (111a), and a receiver (112) includes an ultrasonic transducer (112a) and an amplifier (112b) connected to the ultrasonic transducer (112a). In addition, according to an embodiment, a control unit (130) includes a signal analysis unit (131) connected to the amplifier (112b).
[0045] The double-feed detection sensor (110) detects double-feeding using ultrasonic waves. In the double-feed detection sensor (110), an ultrasonic transducer (111a) and an ultrasonic transducer (112a) are installed at positions facing each other at a predetermined angle with respect to the paper transport path (A) on both sides of the paper transport path in the security paper detection device (100). An oscillator (111b) generates a frequency pulse signal for driving the ultrasonic transducer (111a). The ultrasonic transducer (111a) receives the frequency pulse signal and transmits an ultrasonic pulse to the paper transport path (A). In the paper transport path (A), the ultrasonic pulse passes through the transported paper (B) and reaches the ultrasonic transducer (112a). The ultrasonic transducer (112a) receives the ultrasonic pulse and outputs a detection signal. The amplifier (112b) amplifies the detection signal input from the ultrasonic transducer (112a) and outputs it to the signal analysis unit (131) of the control unit (130), and the signal analysis unit (131) analyzes the detection signal amplified by the amplifier (112b), thereby enabling the control unit (130) to determine whether paper (B) is being transported in the paper transport path (A). The medium penetration characteristics of ultrasonic waves are different for one sheet of paper and two sheets of paper, and in the case of double transmission or overlapping, an air layer exists in the middle. Therefore, as can be seen from the fact that the paper transport direction (C) and the virtual line (D) of FIG. 5 have a predetermined angle (θ), if the transmitter (111) and the receiver (112) are installed at positions facing each other at a predetermined angle with respect to the paper transport path (A), so that the air layer is positioned in a relatively long (wide) range with respect to the transmitter (111) and the receiver (112), the influence of multiple reflections is reduced, and since the medium penetration characteristics change significantly, the presence or absence of double transmission can be easily distinguished. In order to reduce the influence of multiple reflections, it is preferable that the transmitter (111) and the receiver (112) be installed at positions facing each other at an angle (θ) of 15 to 20 degrees with respect to the paper transport direction (C).The refractive properties in the same medium do not differ greatly depending on the thickness, but the refractive properties in medium 1 / medium 2 / medium 1 (where medium 1 is paper and medium 2 is air) differ greatly in refractive properties, so a single sheet of paper with a thickness that is not overlapping or of a thickness of a double beam is not detected as a double beam.
[0046] FIG. 6 is a schematic diagram and a waveform diagram illustrating a transmission detection according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0047] Figure 6 (a) shows a case where there is one sheet of paper, Figure 6 (b) shows a case where there is one sheet of paper that is relatively thicker than Figure 6 (a), and Figure 6 (c) shows a case where the paper is double-folded.
[0048] For example, in the case where there is one sheet of paper as shown in (a) of FIG. 6 and in the case where there is one sheet of paper that is relatively thicker than (a) of FIG. 6 as shown in (b) of FIG. 6, the ultrasonic waves generated by the transmitter (111) pass through the paper and reach the receiver (112), resulting in a waveform. However, in the case where the paper is a double-transmission paper as shown in (c) of FIG. 6, the ultrasonic waves generated by the transmitter (111) do not reach the receiver (112), resulting in no waveform. Thus, it is possible to determine whether there is a double-transmission paper.
[0049] FIG. 7 is a plan view illustrating a flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) having a security paper detection sensor installed according to an embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 8 is a drawing for explaining a gap between a first light sensor and a security paper detection sensor according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 9 is a drawing for explaining a point in time when a security paper detection sensor according to an embodiment of the present invention detects a first detection value and a section when a second detection value is detected.
[0050] For example, referring to FIGS. 2 and 7, the security paper detection device (100) may be provided in the form of an FPCB (E), and a first light sensor (121) for detecting the presence or absence of printed paper fed along the feeding direction of the printed paper is installed in the FPCB (E), and a security paper detection sensor (120) for detecting whether the fed printed paper is security paper is sequentially installed. The security paper detection sensor (120) detects a first detection value when printed paper to be read by the first light sensor (121) is detected when no printed paper is detected, and then detects one or more second detection values for the printed paper to be read along the feeding path for a predetermined period of time. Referring to FIG. 9, F is the output value of the first light sensor (121), and when the output value of the first light sensor (121) changes as the printing paper enters, when the waveform F changes from high to low, the security paper detection sensor (120) detects the first detection value, and then, as the printing paper passes by for a predetermined period of time, the security paper detection sensor (120) detects the second detection value for the printing paper. Referring to FIG. 8, the distance between the first light sensor (121) and the sensor for security paper (120) is preferably smaller than the distance between the printing paper and the printing paper following it in the paper feeding path. This is because the first detection value must be detected when there is no printing paper at the location of the sensor for security paper (120), but if it is larger than the distance between the end of the preceding printing paper and the leading edge of the following printing paper, it can be detected when there is printing paper when the first detection value is detected, so it is impossible to accurately determine whether it is security paper. According to an embodiment, the FPCB (E) may include one or more holes, and a first light sensor (121) may be installed in one of the holes in consideration of the interval between continuously fed printing papers of the printing device. In addition, according to an embodiment, the FPCB (E) may include one or more holes, and a first light sensor (121) may be installed in each of the holes, so that the FPCB (E) may include two or more first light sensors (121) spaced apart along the feeding direction of the printing paper. In this case, considering the interval between the printing papers continuously fed in the printing device used, the control unit (130) selects the first light sensor (121) that detects the presence or absence of the fed printing paper among the two or more first light sensors (121), and controls the security paper detection sensor (120) to detect the first detection value at the time when the printing paper to be read is detected by the selected first light sensor (121). According to an embodiment, the security paper detection sensor (120) installed in the FPCB (E) may be a rod-shaped sensor installed perpendicular to the feeding direction of the printing paper, in which case it can detect a wide surface in the horizontal direction of the printing paper in a short time, thereby increasing the accuracy in detecting the security paper. The printing paper contact portion of the FPCB (E) may additionally include a grounding metal pattern (123) that contacts the printing paper to remove static electricity. According to an embodiment, the FPCB (E) may have a second light sensor (122) installed behind the security paper detection sensor (120) in the feeding path of the printing paper. In FIG. 9, G is an output value of the second light sensor (122), and in this case, the security paper detection sensor (120) detects the second detection value until the second light sensor (122) detects the printing paper.
[0051] As a result, the change in magnetic field caused by the front part of the incoming printing paper passing by will be detected by the security paper detection sensor (120). The security paper sensor (120) transmits the detected analog signal to the control unit (130), and the control unit (130) converts the analog signal into a digital signal and compares the first detection value with one or more second detection values detected by the security paper detection sensor (120). If the comparison value is higher than a predetermined standard, it is determined to be security paper, and if it is lower than the predetermined standard, it is determined to be general paper.
[0052] When the retransmission detection sensor (110) is installed at the rear end of the security paper detection sensor (120), the control unit (130) may cause the retransmission detection sensor (110) to start detecting whether retransmission has occurred after a predetermined time after the security paper detection sensor (120) detects the second detection value, or after a predetermined time after the second light sensor (122) detects printing paper, without receiving a signal from the paper pickup sensor.
[0053] Figure 10 is a block diagram illustrating a printing device for security paper according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0054] Referring to FIG. 10, a security paper printing device (1000) according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a KCMY LED Head or LSU (200) provided to a commercial printing device to form an image to be printed on printing paper, a plurality of sensors (301, 302, 303) installed on a paper transport path to check the position of paper transported along a paper transport path provided to the commercial printing device, a driving unit (400) provided to the commercial printing device to drive a roller to transport paper along the paper transport path, a printer engine controller (500) provided to the commercial printing device to transmit printing data to the KCMY LED Head or LSU (200), receive sensor signals from the plurality of sensors (301, 302, 303), and drive the driving unit (400), and between the printer engine controller (500) and the KCMY LED Head or LSU (200), a printer engine controller (500) and A switching unit (600) is provided between any one of a plurality of sensors (301, 302, 303), between a printer engine controller (500) and a driving unit (400), and is controlled by a control unit (130) of a security paper detection device (100) to switch ON / OFF a connection from the printer engine controller (500) to a KCMY LED Head or LSU (200), or to switch ON / OFF a connection from any one of a plurality of sensors (301, 302, 303) to the printer engine controller (500), or to switch ON / OFF a connection from the printer engine controller (500) to the driving unit (400).
[0055] The printer engine controller (500) transmits print data to the KCMY LED Head or LSU (200) within the security paper printing device (1000), receives sensor signals from a plurality of sensors (301, 302, 303), and drives the driving unit (400) to perform a printing operation. The plurality of sensors (301, 302, 303) include, for example, a registration sensor, a door open sensor, an exit sensor, a paper-in sensor, etc. The driving unit (400) is a driving device generally provided in a printing device, and includes, for example, various motors, clutches, etc.
[0056] The control unit (130) of the security paper detection device (100) controls to selectively stop the printing function of the security paper printing device (1000) according to a detection signal input from the multi-feed detection sensor (100) and / or the security paper detection sensor (120). For example, if a detection signal corresponding to multi-feed is input from the multi-feed detection sensor (110) or a detection signal corresponding to security paper is not input from the security paper detection sensor (120), the control unit (130) controls to stop the printing function of the security paper printing device (1000).
[0057] In an embodiment, when a retransmission detection sensor (110) is installed in front of a security paper detection sensor (120), whether or not retransmission has occurred is first detected. Therefore, when a detection signal corresponding to retransmission is input from the retransmission detection line (110) and it is determined to be retransmission, even if a detection signal corresponding to security paper is input from the security paper detection sensor (120), it is processed as general paper and the printing function of the security paper printing device (1000) is controlled to be stopped.
[0058] In an embodiment, when a transmission detection sensor (110) is installed at the rear end of a security paper detection sensor (120), the control unit (130) controls the printing function of the security paper printing device (1000) to be stopped when a detection signal corresponding to transmission is input from the transmission detection sensor (110) after a detection signal corresponding to the security paper is first input from the security paper detection sensor (120) and it is determined to be transmission.
[0059] For example, the control unit (130) controls the switching unit (400) to switch the signal from the printer engine controller (500) to the KCMY LED Head or LSU (200) to turn off the connection and stop the printing function. In addition, for example, the control unit (130) switches the signal from any one of the plurality of sensors (301, 302, 303) to the printer engine controller (500) to turn off the connection and stop the printing function. In addition, for example, the control unit (130) controls the signal from the printer engine controller (500) to the driving unit (400) to turn off the connection and stop the printing function of the security paper printing device (1000).
[0060] As described above, the present invention is not limited to the specific preferred embodiments described above, and anyone having ordinary skill in the art to which the invention pertains can make various modifications without departing from the gist of the present invention claimed in the claims, and such modifications are within the scope of the claims.
[0061] By enabling precise detection of retransmission, a security paper detection device capable of accurately detecting whether or not it is security paper and a security paper printing device including the same can be provided.
