Description

Communication method and device

[0001] This application claims priority to the Chinese patent application with application number 202311086622.6 filed with the State Intellectual Property Office of China on August 25, 2023, and priority to the Chinese patent application with the invention name “A Communication Method and Device”, all contents of which are incorporated by reference into this application. Technical Field

[0002] The present application relates to the field of communication technology, and in particular to a communication method and device. Background Art

[0003] Uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), a new type of aircraft, are becoming increasingly popular due to their flexibility and convenience. Cellular networks provide UAVs with key features such as wide coverage, high reliability, high security, and continuous mobility, as well as oversight by regulators. The communication environment for UAVs differs significantly from that of standard terminal devices. UAVs primarily fly above base stations, connecting to them via the Uu port and primarily communicating within line of sight (LOS). Therefore, UAVs can receive signals from more base stations.

[0004] The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 16 introduced conditional handover (CHO), an enhancement to basic handover in New Radio (NR). In CHO scenarios, the source base station configures message reporting restrictions for drones communicating during flight.

[0005] Summary of the Invention

[0006] The embodiments of the present application provide a communication method and apparatus that can meet the restrictions imposed by different network devices on sending mobile path update indication messages to terminal devices, thereby improving the flexibility of communication.

[0007] In a first aspect, an embodiment of the present application provides a communication method, which is applied to a first network device, or a chip or circuit configured in the first network device, including:

[0008] A first message is sent to a second network device, the first message including movement path information of a terminal device; and a second message is received from the second network device, the second message including waypoint deviation tolerance information, the waypoint deviation tolerance information being used to indicate a distance range within which the terminal device is allowed to deviate from the movement path corresponding to the movement path information.

[0009] In view of the different tolerance levels of different second network devices for waypoint deviations in the moving path, the first network device obtains the waypoint deviation tolerance information of different second network devices, determines the message reporting restriction information and sends it to the terminal device, thereby meeting the restrictions of different second network devices on the moving path update indication message and improving the flexibility of communication.

[0010] In one possible design, the waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a first waypoint and a first distance threshold, where the first waypoint is a waypoint in the movement path, and the first distance threshold is a distance threshold by which the terminal device deviates from the first waypoint. For each waypoint in the movement path, the second network device can configure a first distance threshold.

[0011] In one possible design, the waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a second distance threshold, where the second distance threshold is a distance threshold for the terminal device to deviate from any waypoint in the movement path. The second network device configures one or more second distance thresholds for the movement path of the terminal device.

[0012] In one possible design, message reporting restriction information is determined based on the waypoint deviation tolerance information; the message reporting restriction information is then sent to the terminal device, where the message reporting restriction information is used to restrict the terminal device from sending movement path update indication messages. By obtaining the waypoint deviation tolerance information of different second network devices, determining the message reporting restriction information, and sending it to the terminal device, the restrictions on movement path update indication messages imposed by different second network devices are met, thereby improving communication flexibility.

[0013] In one possible design, determining the message reporting restriction information based on the waypoint deviation tolerance information includes: selecting, from among the multiple received waypoint deviation tolerance information, one with the smallest waypoint deviation tolerance as the message reporting restriction information. By selecting the smallest waypoint deviation tolerance as the message reporting restriction information, the message reporting restriction information satisfies restrictions on mobile path update indication messages imposed by different second network devices.

[0014] In one possible design, the second message also includes first indication information, and the first indication information is used to indicate whether the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device. In the CHO scenario, the first network device sends mobile path information to the second network device, and the second network device determines whether its coverage area supports providing services for the terminal device. The first network device determines the target candidate network device for performing conditional switching based on the feedback from the second network device on whether it supports providing services for the terminal device, and avoids sending the CHO configuration and CHO switching conditions of the network device that does not support providing services for the terminal device to the terminal device, thereby reducing signaling overhead and improving communication efficiency.

[0015] In one possible design, the second message also includes at least one waypoint, where the at least one waypoint is a waypoint in the mobile path that is within the coverage of the second network device, or the second message also includes at least two waypoints and second indication information, where the second indication information is used to indicate that the coverage of the second network device is between the at least two waypoints. By indicating the waypoints within the coverage of the second network device, or the coverage being between at least two waypoints, the first network device can determine that the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device. And the first network device determines the CHO switching conditions of the candidate target network device based on the information contained in the second message.

[0016] In one possible design, the first network device selects, based on the second message, a candidate target network device for conditional handover (CHO) from at least one of the second network devices. By selecting a candidate target network device for conditional handover (CHO) from at least one of the second network devices, CHO configurations and CHO handover conditions for network devices that do not support providing services to the terminal device are avoided from being sent to the terminal device, thereby reducing signaling overhead and improving communication efficiency.

[0017] In one possible design, the CHO configuration and CHO trigger conditions of the candidate target network device are sent to the terminal device. By sending the CHO configuration and CHO trigger conditions of the candidate target network device to the terminal device, the terminal device can complete the conditional switching during the movement process, thereby ensuring the success rate of the conditional switching.

[0018] In one possible design, the CHO trigger condition includes a location range, the location range includes a second waypoint and a third waypoint, the second waypoint is a waypoint entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device, and the third waypoint is a waypoint leaving the coverage range of the candidate target network device. When the RSRP threshold and the location range of the candidate target network device are simultaneously met, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device, ensuring the success rate of the conditional switching.

[0019] In one possible design, the CHO trigger condition includes a time range, where the time range includes a first time point and a first duration, where the first time point is the time point of entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device, and the first duration is the duration of entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device. When the RSRP threshold and the time range of the candidate target network device are simultaneously met, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device, thereby ensuring the success rate of the conditional switching.

[0020] In a second aspect, an embodiment of the present application provides a communication method, which is applied to a second network device, or a chip or circuit configured in the second network device, including:

[0021] receiving a first message from a first network device, where the first message includes movement path information of a terminal device;

[0022] A second message is sent to the first network device, where the second message includes first waypoint deviation tolerance information, where the first waypoint deviation tolerance information is used to indicate a distance range within which the terminal device is allowed to deviate from the moving path corresponding to the moving path information.

[0023] In view of the different tolerance levels of different second network devices for waypoint deviations in the moving path, the first network device obtains the waypoint deviation tolerance information of different second network devices, determines the message reporting restriction information and sends it to the terminal device, thereby meeting the restrictions of different second network devices on the moving path update indication message and improving the flexibility of communication.

[0024] In one possible design, the first waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a first waypoint and a first distance threshold, where the first waypoint is a waypoint in the movement path, and the first distance threshold is a distance away from the first waypoint. For each waypoint in the movement path, the second network device can configure a first distance threshold.

[0025] In one possible design, the first waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a second distance threshold, where the second distance threshold is the distance that the terminal device deviates from any waypoint in the movement path. The second network device configures one or more second distance thresholds for the movement path of the terminal device.

[0026] In one possible design, the second message also includes first indication information, and the first indication information is used to indicate whether the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device.

[0027] In one possible design, the second message also includes at least one waypoint, where the at least one waypoint is a waypoint in the mobile path that is within the coverage of the second network device, or the second message also includes at least two waypoints and second indication information, where the second indication information is used to indicate that the coverage of the second network device is between the at least two waypoints. By indicating the waypoints within the coverage of the second network device, or the coverage being between at least two waypoints, the first network device can determine that the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device. And the first network device determines the CHO switching conditions of the candidate target network device based on the information contained in the second message.

[0028] In one possible design, a third message is sent to a third network device, the third message including the movement path information; and a fourth message is received from the third network device, the fourth message including second waypoint deviation tolerance information, the second waypoint deviation tolerance information being used to indicate a distance range within which the terminal device is permitted to deviate from the movement path corresponding to the movement path information. In a multi-hop scenario, waypoint deviation tolerance information of more network devices is obtained through the second network device.

[0029] In one possible design, a fifth message is sent to the first network device, the fifth message including the second waypoint deviation tolerance information. By obtaining the waypoint deviation tolerance information of more different network devices, the accuracy of the message reporting restriction condition information is improved.

[0030] In a third aspect, an embodiment of the present application provides a communication method, which is applied to a terminal device, or a chip or circuit configured in the terminal device, including:

[0031] Receive message reporting restriction information from a first network device, wherein the message reporting restriction information is determined based on waypoint deviation tolerance information, and the waypoint deviation tolerance information is used to indicate a distance range within which the terminal device is allowed to deviate from the moving path corresponding to the moving path information; when the moving state of the terminal device satisfies the message reporting restriction information, send a moving path update indication message.

[0032] Given that different second network devices have different tolerances for waypoint deviations in their movement paths, the first network device determines message reporting restrictions by obtaining information about the waypoint deviation tolerances of these different second network devices. When these restrictions are met, the terminal device sends a movement path update indication message, thereby satisfying the restrictions imposed by different second network devices on movement path update indication messages and improving communication flexibility.

[0033] In one possible design, a conditional handover (CHO) configuration and a CHO trigger condition are received from the first network device for a candidate target network device, where the candidate target network device is a second network device that supports providing services to the terminal device. Conditional handover is performed based on the CHO configuration and the CHO trigger condition. By receiving the CHO configuration and the CHO trigger condition from the candidate target network device, the terminal device completes conditional handover during mobility, thereby ensuring a high success rate for conditional handover.

[0034] In one possible design, the CHO trigger condition includes a location range, the location range includes a second waypoint and a third waypoint, the second waypoint is a waypoint entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device, and the third waypoint is a waypoint leaving the coverage range of the candidate target network device;

[0035] When the terminal device passes through the second waypoint and enters the coverage range of the candidate target network device, and the signal quality of the candidate target network device measured by the terminal device meets a first threshold, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device through the CHO configuration. When the RSRP threshold and location range of the candidate target network device are simultaneously met, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device, thereby ensuring the success rate of conditional switching.

[0036] In one possible design, the CHO trigger condition includes a time range, the time range includes a first time point and a first duration, the first time point is a time point of entering the coverage range of the candidate target network, and the first duration is a duration of entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device;

[0037] When the terminal device enters the coverage of the candidate target network device at the first time point and the signal quality of the candidate target network device measured within the first time period meets the first threshold, the terminal device is switched from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device through the CHO configuration. When the RSRP threshold and time range of the candidate target network device are simultaneously met, the terminal device is switched from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device, thereby ensuring the success rate of conditional switching.

[0038] In a fourth aspect, an embodiment of the present application provides a communication method, which is applied to a first network device, or a chip or circuit configured in the first network device, including:

[0039] The first network device sends a first message to the second network device, where the first message includes the moving path information of the terminal device;

[0040] The first network device receives a second message from the second network device, where the second message includes first indication information, and the first indication information is used to indicate whether the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device.

[0041] In a CHO scenario, the first network device sends mobile path information to the second network device, which then determines whether its coverage area supports providing services to the terminal device. Based on the second network device's feedback on whether it supports providing services to the terminal device, the first network device determines the target candidate network device for conditional handover. This avoids sending CHO configurations and CHO handover conditions for network devices that do not support providing services to the terminal device, thereby reducing signaling overhead and improving communication efficiency.

[0042] In one possible design, the second message also includes at least one waypoint, where the at least one waypoint is a waypoint in the mobile path that is within the coverage of the second network device, or the second message also includes at least two waypoints and second indication information, where the second indication information is used to indicate that the coverage of the second network device is between the at least two waypoints. By indicating the waypoints within the coverage of the second network device, or the coverage being between at least two waypoints, the first network device can determine that the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device. And the first network device determines the CHO switching conditions of the candidate target network device based on the information contained in the second message.

[0043] In one possible design, based on the second message, a candidate target network device for conditional CHO switching is selected from at least one of the second network devices. By selecting a candidate target network device for conditional CHO switching from at least one of the second network devices, CHO configurations and CHO switching conditions for network devices that do not support providing services to the terminal device are avoided from being sent to the terminal device, thereby reducing signaling overhead and improving communication efficiency.

[0044] In one possible design, the CHO configuration and CHO trigger conditions of the candidate target network device are sent to the terminal device. By sending the CHO configuration and CHO trigger conditions of the candidate target network device to the terminal device, the terminal device can complete the conditional switching during the movement process, thereby ensuring the success rate of the conditional switching.

[0045] In one possible design, the CHO trigger condition includes a location range, the location range includes a second waypoint and a third waypoint, the second waypoint is a waypoint entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device, and the third waypoint is a waypoint leaving the coverage range of the candidate target network device. When the RSRP threshold and the location range of the candidate target network device are simultaneously met, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device, ensuring the success rate of the conditional switching.

[0046] In one possible design, the CHO trigger condition includes a time range, where the time range includes a first time point and a first duration, where the first time point is the time point of entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device, and the first duration is the duration of entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device. When the RSRP threshold and the time range of the candidate target network device are simultaneously met, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device, thereby ensuring the success rate of the conditional switching.

[0047] In one possible design, the second message includes waypoint deviation tolerance information, where the waypoint deviation tolerance information is used to indicate the distance range within which the terminal device is permitted to deviate from the movement path corresponding to the movement path information. Given that different second network devices have different waypoint deviation tolerances for movement paths, the first network device obtains the waypoint deviation tolerance information from different second network devices, determines message reporting restriction information, and transmits it to the terminal device. This satisfies the restrictions placed on movement path update indication messages by different second network devices and improves communication flexibility.

[0048] In one possible design, the waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a first waypoint and a first distance threshold, where the first waypoint is a waypoint in the movement path, and the first distance threshold is a distance threshold by which the terminal device deviates from the first waypoint. For each waypoint in the movement path, the second network device can configure a first distance threshold.

[0049] In one possible design, the waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a second distance threshold, where the second distance threshold is a distance threshold for the terminal device to deviate from any waypoint in the movement path. The second network device configures one or more second distance thresholds for the movement path of the terminal device.

[0050] In one possible design, the first network device determines message reporting restriction information based on the waypoint deviation tolerance information; and sends the message reporting restriction information to the terminal device, where the message reporting restriction information is used to restrict the terminal device from sending movement path update indication messages. By obtaining the waypoint deviation tolerance information of different second network devices, determining the message reporting restriction information, and sending it to the terminal device, the restrictions on movement path update indication messages imposed by different second network devices are met, thereby improving communication flexibility.

[0051] In one possible design, the one with the smallest waypoint deviation tolerance from the received plurality of waypoint deviation tolerance information is selected as the message reporting restriction information. By selecting the smallest waypoint deviation tolerance as the message reporting restriction information, the message reporting restriction information satisfies the restrictions on the mobile path update indication message imposed by different second network devices.

[0052] In a fifth aspect, an embodiment of the present application provides a communication method, which is applied to a second network device, or a chip or circuit configured in the second network device, including:

[0053] Receive a first message from a first network device, the first message including mobile path information of a terminal device; send a second message to the first network device, the second message including first indication information, the first indication information being used to indicate whether the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device.

[0054] In a CHO scenario, the first network device sends mobile path information to the second network device, which then determines whether its coverage area supports providing services to the terminal device.

[0055] In one possible design, the second message also includes at least one waypoint, where the at least one waypoint is a waypoint in the mobile path that is within the coverage of the second network device, or the second message also includes at least two waypoints and second indication information, where the second indication information is used to indicate that the coverage of the second network device is between the at least two waypoints. By indicating the waypoints within the coverage of the second network device, or the coverage being between at least two waypoints, the first network device can determine that the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device. And the first network device determines the CHO switching conditions of the candidate target network device based on the information contained in the second message.

[0056] In one possible design, the second message also includes first waypoint deviation tolerance information, where the first waypoint deviation tolerance information is used to indicate the distance range within which the terminal device is permitted to deviate from the movement path corresponding to the movement path information. Given that different second network devices have different waypoint deviation tolerances for movement paths, the first network device obtains the waypoint deviation tolerance information from different second network devices, determines message reporting restriction information, and sends it to the terminal device, thereby satisfying the restrictions placed on movement path update indication messages by different second network devices and improving communication flexibility.

[0057] In one possible design, the first waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a first waypoint and a first distance threshold, where the first waypoint is a waypoint in the movement path, and the first distance threshold is a distance away from the first waypoint. For each waypoint in the movement path, the second network device can configure a first distance threshold.

[0058] In one possible design, the first waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a second distance threshold, where the second distance threshold is the distance that the terminal device deviates from any waypoint in the movement path. The second network device configures one or more second distance thresholds for the movement path of the terminal device.

[0059] In one possible design, a third message is sent to a third network device, the third message including the mobile path information; and a fourth message is received from the third network device, the fourth message including third indication information, the third indication information being used to indicate whether the third network device supports providing services for the terminal device. In a multi-hop scenario, information is obtained through the second network device as to whether more network devices support providing services for the terminal device.

[0060] In one possible design, a fifth message is sent to the first network device, the fifth message including the third indication information. By obtaining information on whether more different network devices support providing services for the terminal device, the success rate of the terminal device performing conditional switching during mobility is improved.

[0061] In a sixth aspect, an embodiment of the present application provides a communication method, which is applied to a terminal device, or a chip or circuit configured in the terminal device, including:

[0062] Receive a conditional handover CHO configuration and a CHO trigger condition of a candidate target network device from the first network device, where the candidate target network device is a second network device that supports providing services for the terminal device; and perform conditional handover based on the CHO configuration and the CHO trigger condition.

[0063] By receiving the CHO configuration and CHO triggering conditions of the candidate target network device that supports providing services to the terminal device, the success rate of the conditional switching is guaranteed.

[0064] In one possible design, the CHO trigger condition includes a location range, the location range includes a second waypoint and a third waypoint, the second waypoint is a waypoint entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device, and the third waypoint is a waypoint leaving the coverage range of the candidate target network device;

[0065] When the terminal device passes through the second waypoint and enters the coverage range of the candidate target network device, and the signal quality of the candidate target network device measured by the terminal device meets a first threshold, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device through the CHO configuration. When the RSRP threshold and location range of the candidate target network device are simultaneously met, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device, thereby ensuring the success rate of conditional switching.

[0066] In one possible design, the CHO trigger condition includes a time range, the time range includes a first time point and a first duration, the first time point is a time point of entering the coverage range of the candidate target network, and the first duration is a duration of entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device;

[0067] When the terminal device enters the coverage of the candidate target network device at the first time point and the signal quality of the candidate target network device measured within the first time period meets the first threshold, the terminal device is switched from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device through the CHO configuration. When the RSRP threshold and time range of the candidate target network device are simultaneously met, the terminal device is switched from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device, thereby ensuring the success rate of conditional switching.

[0068] In one possible design, the terminal device receives message reporting restriction information from the first network device, and the message reporting restriction information is determined based on waypoint deviation tolerance information, and the waypoint deviation tolerance information is used to indicate the distance range within which the terminal device is allowed to deviate from the moving path corresponding to the moving path information; when the moving state of the terminal device meets the message reporting restriction information, a moving path update indication message is sent.

[0069] Given that different second network devices have different tolerances for waypoint deviations in their movement paths, the first network device determines message reporting restrictions by obtaining information about the waypoint deviation tolerances of these different second network devices. When these restrictions are met, the terminal device sends a movement path update indication message, thereby satisfying the restrictions imposed by different second network devices on movement path update indication messages and improving communication flexibility.

[0070] In a seventh aspect, an embodiment of the present application provides a communication device, the communication device comprising:

[0073] In one possible design, the waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a first waypoint and a first distance threshold, where the first waypoint is a waypoint in the moving path, and the first distance threshold is a distance threshold at which the terminal device deviates from the first waypoint.

[0074] In one possible design, the waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a second distance threshold, which is a distance threshold for the terminal device to deviate from any waypoint in the moving path.

[0079] In one possible design, the second message also includes at least one waypoint, where the at least one waypoint is a waypoint in the moving path that is within the coverage range of the second network device, or the second message also includes at least two waypoints and second indication information, where the second indication information is used to indicate that the coverage range of the second network device is between the at least two waypoints.

[0080] In one possible design, the processing module is used to select a candidate target network device for performing conditional switching CHO from at least one of the second network devices based on the second message.

[0081] In one possible design, the sending module is used to send the CHO configuration and CHO triggering conditions of the candidate target network device to the terminal device.

[0165] As shown in Figure 1, Figure 1 is a schematic diagram of the architecture of a communication system provided by an embodiment of the present application. The communication system may include a network device and a terminal device. Among them, the network device may include a source base station and a neighboring base station, the neighboring base station is a base station adjacent to the source base station, and the terminal device may be located within the coverage of one or more service cells provided by the network device. When there are multiple cells providing services for the terminal device, the terminal device may operate in accordance with carrier aggregation (CA), dual connectivity (DC) or coordinated multi-point transmission mode, wherein one or more service cells provide at least one parameter set (numerology) and provide wireless resources for the terminal device.

[0166] Terminal devices, such as user equipment (UE), mobile stations (MS), and mobile terminals (MT), provide voice and / or data connectivity to users. Examples include handheld devices and in-vehicle devices with wireless connectivity. Currently, some examples of terminals include mobile phones, tablets, laptops, PDAs, mobile internet devices (MIDs), wearable devices, virtual reality (VR) devices, augmented reality (AR) devices, wireless terminals in industrial control, wireless terminals in self-driving vehicles, wireless terminals in remote medical surgery, wireless terminals in smart grids, wireless terminals in transportation safety, wireless terminals in smart cities, and wireless terminals in smart homes. The following description uses a drone as the terminal device.

[0167] A network device refers to a radio access network (RAN) node (or device) that connects a terminal device to a wireless network. This device can also be called a base station. Examples of RAN nodes include: evolved Node B (gNB), transmission reception point (TRP), evolved Node B (eNB), radio network controller (RNC), Node B (NB), base station controller (BSC), base transceiver station (BTS), home base station (e.g., home evolved Node B, or HNB), base band unit (BBU), or wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) access point (AP). In a network architecture, access network devices can include centralized unit (CU) nodes, distributed unit (DU) nodes, or a combination of CU and DU nodes. Among them, the RAN equipment including CU nodes and DU nodes splits the protocol layer of the eNB in the long term evolution (LTE) system, placing the functions of some protocol layers in the central control of the CU, and distributing the functions of the remaining part or all of the protocol layers in the DU, which is centrally controlled by the CU.

[0168] Figure 2 shows a schematic diagram of a communication interface. Terminal devices and network devices can communicate via the Uu port. The interface between network devices is called the Xn interface, which supports the exchange of signaling information between two network devices. Logically, the Xn interface is a point-to-point interface between two network devices. This logical point-to-point interface is possible even if there is no direct physical connection between the two network devices.

[0169] The communication system can be applicable to a long term evolution (LTE) system, a universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) system, a code division multiple access (CDMA) system, a wireless local area network (WLAN) or a fifth generation mobile communication system (5G) or a next generation wireless communication system, etc.

[0170] As shown in Figure 3, Figure 3 is a schematic diagram of a flight path. When performing corresponding tasks, drones may fly along a fixed route, such as conducting power network inspections. This route can be called the flight path of the drone. In the new radio (NR), the protocol supports the reporting of the drone's flight path. The flight path of a drone can be represented by planned waypoint information (the expected location to be reached) and the corresponding timestamp (optional), where the maximum number of waypoints in the flight path is 20. In addition, the standard also supports the update of the drone's flight path, that is, when the UAV's flight path changes, a flight path update indication message can be sent to the base station to notify the base station that the flight path has been updated. If the base station needs to update the flight path, it sends a flight path request message to the drone to request the drone to report the flight path.

[0171] In traditional NR basic handover, as the terminal device moves, it can measure the base station's signal. If the measured signal quality of the target base station is better than that of the source base station, the terminal device can switch from the cell covered by the source base station to the cell covered by the target base station. However, due to the deterioration of the radio environment between the UE and the source base station, the UE's measurement report may not reach the base station. As shown in Figure 4a, the source base station sends a measurement configuration to the UE. The UE measures the signal and sends a measurement report to the source base station. However, due to the deterioration of the radio environment, the source base station cannot receive the measurement report reported by the UE. Alternatively, after the source base station receives the measurement report, the handover command sent to the UE cannot reach the UE. As shown in Figure 4b, the source base station sends a handover request to the target base station, and the target base station sends a handover request confirmation to the source base station. After receiving the handover request confirmation, the source base station sends a handover command to the UE. However, due to the deterioration of the radio environment, the UE cannot receive the handover command sent by the target base station. In both cases, the handover fails. At this time, the UE will recognize the radio link failure and initiate the RRC re-establishment process.

[0172] In order to reduce the probability of NR basic switching, the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) R16 introduced CHO, which is an enhancement of NR basic switching. CHO can be understood as: before the wireless environment between the UE and the source base station deteriorates further, the source base station sends the switching command (carrying the CHO configuration and CHO trigger conditions of the candidate target base station) to the UE in advance, so that the UE knows how to access the target base station in advance. After the UE finds a base station that meets the CHO trigger conditions among the candidate target base stations, it can independently decide to initiate a switch, which increases the chance of successful message transmission and can greatly improve the success rate of the switch. As shown in Figure 5, Figure 5 is a schematic diagram of CHO switching. The CHO process is as follows:

[0173] S501: Access and mobility management function (AMF) provides mobility control information.

[0174] S502: The UE exchanges measurement control and reporting with the source base station.

[0175] S503: The source base station decides to use CHO.

[0176] S504: The source base station sends a CHO request message (handover request) to multiple target base stations, wherein the request message is used to request CHO of one or more candidate cells belonging to one or more target base stations, wherein the multiple target base stations include the target base station and other target base stations.

[0177] S505: Each target base station performs admission control.

[0178] S506: Each target base station sends a handover request acknowledgement message to the source base station. The handover request acknowledgement message includes the CHO configuration of the candidate cell. The handover request acknowledgement message is a CHO response message sent by each target base station.

[0179] S507: The source base station sends an RRC reconfiguration message to the UE, wherein the RRC reconfiguration message includes the CHO configuration of the candidate cell and the CHO execution condition.

[0180] S508 , the UE sends an RRC reconfiguration complete message to the source base station. The RRC reconfiguration complete message is used to indicate that the RRC reconfiguration is complete.

[0181] S509: The UE evaluates the CHO execution condition of the candidate cell.

[0182] S510: If there is at least one candidate cell that meets the CHO execution conditions, the UE detaches from the source gNB, synchronizes to the candidate cell of the target gNB, and applies the stored corresponding CHO configuration for the selected candidate cell.

[0183] S511, the UE sends an RRC reconfiguration complete message to the target base station to complete the RRC handover process. Optionally, after the RRC handover process is successfully completed, the UE may release the stored CHO configuration.

[0184] S512: The target base station sends a handover success message to the source base station.

[0185] S513: The source base station sends a sequence number (SN) state transfer to the target base station.

[0186] S514: The source base station sends a handover cancel message to other target base stations, where the handover cancel message is used to cancel the CHO of the UE.

[0187] The current standard sets restrictions on drones reporting flight path update indication messages. For example, a drone is only allowed to send a flight path update indication message if it deviates from a predetermined waypoint by more than 50 meters, or arrives at a predetermined waypoint more than 10 minutes late. However, the existing CHO does not consider how the source base station configures the restrictions on flight path update indication messages when different base stations have different tolerances for waypoint deviations. In addition, in a conditional handover scenario, since the source base station does not know the coverage range of neighboring base stations, it cannot determine the candidate target base station based on the drone's flight path, allowing the drone to select a target base station from the candidate target base stations to complete the CHO.

[0188] In order to solve the above technical problems, the embodiments of the present application provide the following solutions.

[0189] Please refer to Figure 6, which is a flow chart of a communication method provided in an embodiment of the present application. In the embodiment of the present application, the first network device may be a source base station, the second network device may be one or more neighboring base stations (adjacent to the source base station), and the terminal device may be a drone. The method includes but is not limited to the following steps:

[0190] S601: A first network device sends a first message to a second network device, where the first message includes moving path information of a terminal device.

[0191] The first message may be a handover request message. The movement path information is used to indicate a movement path (also referred to as a flight path). The movement path may include one or more waypoints. The movement path information may include location information of one or more waypoints that the terminal device is expected to arrive at. The movement path information may also include a timestamp corresponding to the expected arrival at the one or more waypoints. The movement path information may also include location information of one or more waypoints that the terminal device is expected to arrive at, and a timestamp corresponding to the expected arrival at the one or more waypoints.

[0192] Optionally, before the first network device sends the first message to the second network device, the first network device may send measurement control information to the terminal device, wherein the measurement control information includes a reference signal receiving quality (RSRP) threshold. The terminal device measures other network devices adjacent to the first network device based on the measurement control information to obtain a measurement report, and sends the measurement report to the first network device. The measurement report may include the measured RSRP of the other network devices.

[0193] Optionally, before the first network device sends the first message to the second network device, the terminal device may report the moving path information to the first network device.

[0194] S602, the second network device sends a second message to the first network device, where the second message includes waypoint deviation tolerance information, where the waypoint deviation tolerance information is used to indicate a distance range within which the terminal device is allowed to deviate from the moving path corresponding to the moving path information.

[0195] Specifically, the second network device may determine the waypoint deviation tolerance information for the waypoints in the moving path of the terminal device based on the coverage range and moving path information of the second network device. Then, a second message is sent to the first network device, where the second message includes the waypoint deviation tolerance information. For example, for waypoints within the coverage range of the second network device, the second network device may allow the terminal device to deviate from the moving path by a distance greater than or equal to 0. For waypoints outside the coverage range of the second network device, the second network device may allow the terminal device to deviate from the moving path by a distance equal to 0 or infinity. The waypoint deviation tolerance information may include the following situations:

[0196] In one implementation, the waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a first waypoint and a first distance threshold, the first waypoint being a waypoint in the moving path, and the first distance threshold being a distance threshold for the terminal device to deviate from the first waypoint. It can be understood that, for each waypoint in the moving path, the second network device can be configured with a first distance threshold. Optionally, the first waypoint is a waypoint in the moving path that is within the coverage range of the second network device. It can be understood that, for waypoints in the moving path that are within the coverage range of the second network device, a first distance threshold can be configured, while for waypoints in the moving path that are outside the coverage range of the second network device, there is no need to configure the first distance threshold. It should be noted that for waypoints that are not configured with the first distance threshold, it means that the second network device is not interested in the waypoint, that is, no matter how far the terminal device deviates from the waypoint during actual movement, it will not trigger the reporting of the moving path update indication information.

[0197] In another implementation, the waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a second distance threshold, where the second distance threshold is a distance threshold for the terminal device to deviate from any waypoint in the movement path. It can be understood that the second network device configures one or more second distance thresholds for the movement path of the terminal device.

[0198] Optionally, the second message also includes first indication information, and the first indication information is used to indicate whether the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device. Specifically, the second network device can determine whether the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device based on the coverage and moving path information of the second network device. For example, if any waypoint in the moving path is outside the coverage of the second network device, it is determined that the second network device does not support providing services for the terminal device. If there are one or more waypoints in the moving path that are within the coverage of the second network device, it is determined that the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device. After the second network device determines whether the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device, it sends a second message to the first network device, and the second message includes the first indication information. The first indication information can be represented by one or more bits. For example, 1 bit is used to represent it, where 1 indicates that the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device, and 0 indicates that the second network device does not support providing services for the terminal device. 0 and 1 can also be indicated in reverse.

[0199] In an embodiment of the present application, if the second network device supports providing services to the terminal device, the second network device may include the following information in the second message of the reply:

[0200] In one implementation, the second message also includes at least one waypoint, which is a waypoint within the coverage area of the second network device on the movement path. The waypoints within the coverage area of the second network device may include one or more waypoints. For example, as shown in Figure 7, Figure 7 is a schematic diagram of waypoints. The movement path includes waypoints such as waypoint 1 to waypoint 5, where waypoint 3 is within the coverage area of the base station, and waypoint 4 is within the coverage area of base station 2. This indicates that both base station 1 and base station 2 support services for the terminal device. The waypoints within the coverage area of the second network device may also be a range, represented by waypoints entering the coverage area of the second network device and waypoints leaving the coverage area of the second network device. For example, the waypoints within the coverage area of the second network device include waypoint 2 and waypoint 5, where waypoint 2 is the waypoint entering the coverage area of the second network device, and waypoint 5 is the waypoint leaving the coverage area of the second network device. If multiple waypoints are discontinuous within the coverage area of the second network device, the multiple waypoints may be represented in segments, for example, waypoint 2 to waypoint 5, waypoint 7, and waypoint 10 to waypoint 12. Optionally, multiple waypoints may be represented in the order of entering the coverage of the second network device. For example, waypoint 2 to waypoint 5 represent the first entry into the coverage of the second network device, waypoint 7 represents the second entry into the coverage of the second network device, and waypoint 10 to waypoint 12 represent the third entry into the coverage of the second network device.

[0201] In another implementation, the second message further includes at least two waypoints and second indication information, and the second indication information is used to indicate that the coverage range of the second network device is between the at least two waypoints. For example, as shown in Figure 8, Figure 8 is a schematic diagram of another waypoint. The movement path includes waypoints such as waypoint 1-waypoint 5, the coverage range of base station 1 is between waypoint 2 and waypoint 3, and the coverage range of base station 2 is between waypoint 3 and waypoint 4. It can be seen that both base station 1 and base station 2 support providing services for the terminal device.

[0202] Optionally, if the second network device does not support providing services to the terminal device (for example, if it is determined that all waypoints in the mobile path are outside the coverage of the second network device), the second network device may send a handover preparation failure message to the first network device. Optionally, if the second network device does not support providing services to the terminal device, the second network device may not send any messages to the first network device. If the first network device does not receive any message back from the second network device after sending a first message to the second network device, the first network device may determine that the second network device does not support providing services to the terminal device.

[0203] The second message may be a handover request acknowledgement message. The handover request acknowledgement message may include a CHO configuration of the second network device. The CHO configuration may include a cell identifier (ID) of the second network device, a cell-radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI), a security algorithm ID, a key, etc.

[0204] The embodiments of the present application can also be applied to multi-hop scenarios, which are described below:

[0205] The waypoint deviation tolerance information includes first waypoint deviation tolerance information and second waypoint deviation tolerance information. The first waypoint deviation tolerance information indicates the distance range within which the coverage of the second network device allows the terminal device to deviate from the movement path corresponding to the movement path information. The second waypoint deviation tolerance information indicates the distance range within which the coverage of the third network device allows the terminal device to deviate from the movement path corresponding to the movement path information. The second network device is adjacent to the third network device.

[0206] After receiving the first message, the second network device may send a third message to the third network device, where the third message includes the movement path information. After receiving the third message, the third network device may determine the second waypoint deviation tolerance information for the waypoints in the movement path of the terminal device based on the coverage range and movement path information of the third network device. This is the same as the method used by the second network device to determine the first waypoint deviation tolerance information, and will not be repeated here. Then, the third network device sends a fourth message to the second network device, where the fourth message includes the second waypoint deviation tolerance information. The third message may be a handover request message, and the fourth message may be a handover request confirmation message.

[0207] After receiving the second waypoint deviation tolerance information, the second network device may send a fifth message to the first network device, where the fifth message includes the second waypoint deviation tolerance information. That is, after determining the first waypoint deviation tolerance information, the second network device may first send the first waypoint deviation tolerance information to the first network device via the first message. After receiving the second waypoint deviation tolerance information, the second waypoint deviation tolerance information may be sent to the first network device via the fifth message. The fifth message may be a handover request confirmation message. Alternatively, after receiving the second waypoint deviation tolerance information, the second network device may send the first waypoint deviation tolerance information and the second waypoint deviation tolerance information to the first network device via the first message. That is, after determining the first waypoint deviation tolerance information, the second network device waits to receive the second waypoint deviation tolerance information, and finally sends the first waypoint deviation tolerance information and the second waypoint deviation tolerance information together to the first network device.

[0208] Further optionally, if the last waypoint in the moving path is within the coverage of the third network device, the third network device no longer sends the handover request message to other network devices adjacent thereto; otherwise, the third network device continues to send the handover request message.

[0209] S603: The first network device sends message reporting restriction condition information to the terminal device, where the message reporting restriction condition information is used to restrict the terminal device from sending a moving path update indication message.

[0210] Specifically, after the first network device receives the second message sent by one or more second network devices, it can determine the message reporting restriction information based on the received one or more waypoint deviation tolerance information. Then, the message reporting restriction information is sent to the terminal device. Among them, the message reporting restriction information may include sending a mobile path update indication message when the deviation from the predetermined waypoint exceeds 20 meters, or sending a mobile path update indication message when arriving at the predetermined waypoint more than 10 minutes late or early. Alternatively, the message reporting restriction information may also include a distance threshold (for example, 20 meters) or a time threshold (for example, 10 minutes).

[0211] Furthermore, the first network device may select the one with the smallest waypoint deviation tolerance from the multiple received waypoint deviation tolerance information as the message reporting restriction information. Alternatively, the first network device may calculate an average of the waypoint deviation tolerances based on the multiple received waypoint deviation tolerance information, and use the calculated average of the waypoint deviation tolerances as the message reporting restriction information. Other methods may also be used to determine the reporting restriction information, which is not limited by this application.

[0212] The terminal device receives message reporting restriction information from the first network device, and when the movement state of the terminal device satisfies the message reporting restriction information, the terminal device sends a movement path update indication message. The movement state may include the actual location information of the terminal device during movement or the time point when the terminal device actually arrives at a certain waypoint.

[0213] For example, the mobile path includes the time point at which the drone is expected to arrive at waypoint 1 within the coverage of base station 1, but the drone actually arrives within the coverage of base station 1, and the distance offset from waypoint 1 is 25 meters. At this time, the message reporting restriction information is satisfied, and the drone can send a mobile path update indication message to request an update of the mobile path. For another example, the mobile path includes the time point at which the drone is expected to arrive at waypoint 2 within the coverage of base station 2 at 13:25, but the drone actually arrives at waypoint 2 within the coverage of base station 2 at 13:50, which is 25 minutes late. At this time, the message reporting restriction information is satisfied, and the drone can send a mobile path update indication message to request a re-update of the mobile path. Alternatively, a mobile path update indication message is sent when the terminal device deviates from the predetermined waypoint by more than 20 meters during actual movement, or arrives at the predetermined waypoint more than 10 minutes late or early.

[0214] Optionally, after receiving the second message sent by one or more second network devices, the first network device can also select a candidate target network device for performing conditional handover CHO from at least one of the second network devices based on the second message. Specifically, if the second message sent by the second network device includes first indication information, and the first indication information is used to indicate that the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device, then the second network device is selected as one of the candidate target network devices. And / or, if the second message sent by the second network device includes at least one waypoint, and the at least one waypoint is a waypoint in the mobile path that is within the coverage range of the second network device, then the second network device is selected as one of the candidate target network devices. And / or, if the second message sent by the second network device includes at least two waypoints and second indication information, and the second indication information is used to indicate that the coverage range of the second network device is between at least two waypoints, then the second network device is selected as one of the candidate target network devices.

[0215] The first network device can determine the CHO configuration and CHO trigger condition of each candidate target network device based on the second message sent by the received candidate target network device, and send the CHO configuration and CHO trigger condition of the candidate target network device to the terminal device. The CHO configuration may include the cell identifier (identifier, ID), cell radio network temporary identifier (cell-radio network temporary identifier, C-RNTI), security algorithm ID, key, etc. of the candidate target network device. The CHO trigger condition may include one or more of the RSRP threshold, location range and time range of the candidate target network device. The location range includes a second waypoint and a third waypoint, the second waypoint is a waypoint for entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device, and the third waypoint is a waypoint for leaving the coverage range of the candidate target network device. The time range includes a first time point and a first duration, the first time point is the time point for entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device, and the first duration is the duration for entering the coverage range of the candidate target network device.

[0216] Finally, the terminal device receives the CHO configuration and CHO trigger condition of the candidate target network device from the first network device, and performs conditional switching based on the CHO configuration and CHO trigger condition of the candidate target network device. Specific optional methods include the following:

[0217] In one implementation, if the terminal device enters the coverage area of the candidate target network device and the measured signal quality of the candidate target network device meets the first threshold, the terminal device is handed over from the cell of the source base station to the cell of the candidate target base station through the CHO configuration. The signal quality may be RSRP, and the first threshold may be an RSRP threshold.

[0218] In another implementation, when the terminal device enters the coverage of the candidate target network device through the second waypoint (leaves the coverage of the candidate target network device without passing through the third waypoint, or leaves the coverage of the candidate target network device through the third waypoint), and the signal quality of the candidate target network device measured by the terminal device meets the first threshold, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device through the CHO configuration. That is, when the RSRP threshold and location range of the candidate target network device are simultaneously met, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device.

[0219] In another implementation, when the terminal device enters the coverage of the candidate target network device at the first time point and the signal quality of the candidate target network device continuously measured during the first duration satisfies a first threshold, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device through the CHO configuration. That is, when both the RSRP threshold and the time range of the candidate target network device are met, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device.

[0220] In another implementation, when the terminal device passes the second waypoint and enters the coverage of the candidate target network device at the first time point, and the signal quality of the candidate target network device is continuously measured to meet a first threshold for a first duration, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device through the CHO configuration. That is, when the RSRP threshold, location range, and time range of the candidate target network device are simultaneously met, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device.

[0221] In an embodiment of the present application, since different second network devices have different tolerance levels for waypoint deviations of the moving path, the first network device obtains the waypoint deviation tolerance information of different second network devices, determines the message reporting restriction information and sends it to the terminal device, thereby meeting the restrictions of different second network devices on the moving path update indication message and improving the flexibility of communication.

[0222] Please refer to Figure 9, which is a flow chart of a communication method provided by an embodiment of the present application. In the embodiment of the present application, the first network device may be a source base station, the second network device may be one or more neighboring base stations (adjacent to the source base station), and the terminal device may be a drone. The method includes but is not limited to the following steps:

[0223] S901: A first network device sends a first message to a second network device, where the first message includes moving path information of a terminal device.

[0224] The first message may be a handover request message.

[0225] Optionally, before the first network device sends the first message to the second network device, the first network device may send measurement control information to the terminal device, wherein the measurement control information includes a reference signal receiving quality (RSRP) threshold. The terminal device measures other network devices adjacent to the first network device based on the measurement control information to obtain a measurement report, and sends the measurement report to the first network device. The measurement report may include the measured RSRP of the other network devices.

[0226] Optionally, before the first network device sends the first message to the second network device, the terminal device may report the moving path information to the first network device.

[0227] S902. The second network device sends a second message to the first network device, where the second message includes first indication information, and the first indication information is used to indicate whether the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device.

[0228] Specifically, the second network device can determine whether the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device based on the coverage range and movement path information of the second network device. For example, if any waypoint in the movement path is outside the coverage range of the second network device, it is determined that the second network device does not support providing services for the terminal device. If one or more waypoints in the movement path are within the coverage range of the second network device, it is determined that the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device. After the second network device determines whether the second network device supports providing services for the terminal device, it sends a second message to the first network device, where the second message includes the first indication information.

[0229] In an embodiment of the present application, if the second network device supports providing services to the terminal device, the second network device may include the following information in the second message of the reply:

[0230] In one implementation, the second message also includes at least one waypoint, which is a waypoint within the coverage area of the second network device on the movement path.

[0231] In another implementation, the second message further includes at least two waypoints and second indication information, and the second indication information is used to indicate that the coverage range of the second network device is between the at least two waypoints. For example, as shown in Figure 8, Figure 8 is another waypoint schematic diagram.

[0232] Optionally, if the second network device does not support providing services to the terminal device (for example, if it is determined that all waypoints in the mobile path are outside the coverage of the second network device), the second network device may send a handover preparation failure message to the first network device. Optionally, if the second network device does not support providing services to the terminal device, the second network device may not send any messages to the first network device. If the first network device does not receive any message back from the second network device after sending a first message to the second network device, the first network device may determine that the second network device does not support providing services to the terminal device.

[0233] Optionally, the second message may also include waypoint deviation tolerance information, and the waypoint deviation tolerance information is used to indicate the distance range in which the terminal device is allowed to deviate from the moving path corresponding to the moving path information. Specifically, the second network device may determine the waypoint deviation tolerance information for the waypoints in the moving path of the terminal device based on the coverage range and moving path information of the second network device. Then a second message is sent to the first network device, and the second message includes the waypoint deviation tolerance information. For example, for waypoints within the coverage range of the second network device, the second network device may allow the terminal device to deviate from the moving path by a distance greater than or equal to 0. For waypoints outside the coverage range of the second network device, the second network device allows the terminal device to deviate from the moving path by a distance equal to 0 or infinity. Waypoint deviation tolerance information may include the following situations:

[0234] In one implementation, the waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a first waypoint and a first distance threshold, the first waypoint being a waypoint in the moving path, and the first distance threshold being a distance threshold for the terminal device to deviate from the first waypoint.

[0235] In another implementation, the waypoint deviation tolerance information includes a second distance threshold, where the second distance threshold is a distance threshold for the terminal device to deviate from any waypoint in the movement path. It can be understood that the second network device configures one or more second distance thresholds for the movement path of the terminal device.

[0236] The second message may be a handover request acknowledgement message. The handover request acknowledgement message may include a CHO configuration of the second network device. The CHO configuration may include a cell identifier (ID) of the second network device, a cell-radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI), a security algorithm ID, a key, etc.

[0237] The embodiments of the present application can also be applied to multi-hop scenarios, which are described below:

[0238] After receiving the first message, the second network device may send a third message to the third network device, the third message including the movement path information. After receiving the third message, the third network device may determine whether the third network device supports providing services to the terminal device based on the third network device's coverage and movement path information, in the same manner as the second network device previously determined whether the second network device supports providing services to the terminal device, and will not be further described here. If the third network device supports providing services to the terminal device, the third network device sends a fourth message to the second network device, the fourth message including third indication information indicating that the third network device supports providing services to the terminal device. If the third network device does not support providing services to the terminal device, the third network device sends a fourth message to the second network device, the fourth message including fourth indication information indicating that the third network device does not support providing services to the terminal device. Alternatively, if the third network device does not support providing services to the terminal device, the fourth network device does not send any message. In the absence of receiving any message, the second network device may determine that the third network device does not support providing services to the terminal device. The third message may be a handover request message, and the fourth message may be a handover request confirmation message or a handover preparation failure message. The second network device and the third network device are adjacent.

[0239] After receiving the third indication information, the second network device may send a fifth message to the first network device, the fifth message including the third indication information. The fifth message is a handover request confirmation message. That is, after determining the first indication information, the second network device may first send the first indication information to the first network device via the first message. After receiving the third indication information, the second network device may then send the third indication information to the first network device via the fifth message. Alternatively, after receiving the third indication information, the second network device may send the first indication information and the third indication information to the first network device via the first message. That is, after determining the first indication information, the second network device waits to receive the third indication information, and finally sends the first indication information and the third indication information together to the first network device via the first message.

[0240] Further optionally, if the last waypoint in the moving path is within the coverage of the third network device, the third network device no longer sends the handover request message to other network devices adjacent thereto; otherwise, the third network device continues to send the handover request message.

[0241] S903: The first network device sends the CHO configuration and CHO triggering condition of the candidate target network device to the terminal device.

[0242] Specifically, after the first network device receives the second message sent by one or more second network devices, it can select a candidate target network device for performing conditional handover CHO from at least one of the second network devices based on the second message.

[0243] Then, the first network device can determine the CHO configuration and CHO trigger condition of each candidate target network device based on the second message sent by the received candidate target network device, and send the CHO configuration and CHO trigger condition of the candidate target network device to the terminal device.

[0244] Finally, the terminal device receives the CHO configuration and CHO trigger condition of the candidate target network device from the first network device, and performs conditional switching based on the CHO configuration and CHO trigger condition of the candidate target network device. Specific optional methods include the following:

[0245] In one implementation, if the terminal device enters the coverage area of the candidate target network device and the measured signal quality of the candidate target network device meets the first threshold, the terminal device is handed over from the cell of the source base station to the cell of the candidate target base station through the CHO configuration. The signal quality may be RSRP, and the first threshold may be an RSRP threshold.

[0246] In another implementation, when the terminal device enters the coverage of the candidate target network device through the second waypoint (it may leave the coverage of the candidate target network device without passing through the third waypoint, or it may leave the coverage of the candidate target network device through the third waypoint), and the signal quality of the candidate target network device measured by the terminal device meets the first threshold, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device through the CHO configuration. That is, when the RSRP threshold and location range of the candidate target network device are simultaneously met, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device.

[0247] In another implementation, when the terminal device enters the coverage area of the candidate target network device at the first time point and the signal quality of the candidate target network device continuously measured during the first duration satisfies a first threshold, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device using the CHO configuration. That is, switching from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device occurs when both the RSRP threshold and the time range of the candidate target network device are met.

[0248] In another implementation, when the terminal device passes the second waypoint and enters the coverage of the candidate target network device at the first time point, and the signal quality of the candidate target network device continuously measured during the first duration meets the first threshold, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device through the CHO configuration. That is, when the RSRP threshold, location range, and time range of the candidate target network device are simultaneously met, the terminal device switches from the cell of the first network device to the cell of the candidate target network device.

[0249] Optionally, after the first network device receives the second message sent by multiple second network devices, it can also determine the message reporting restriction information based on one or more waypoint deviation tolerance information of the candidate target network device (excluding the second network device that does not support providing services to the terminal device). Then, the message reporting restriction information is sent to the terminal device. Among them, the message reporting restriction information may include sending a moving path update indication message when the deviation from the predetermined waypoint exceeds 20 meters, or sending a moving path update indication message when arriving at the predetermined waypoint more than 10 minutes late or early. Alternatively, the message reporting restriction information may also include a distance threshold (for example, 20 meters) or a time threshold (for example, 10 minutes).

[0250] Furthermore, the first network device may select the one with the smallest waypoint deviation tolerance from the multiple received waypoint deviation tolerance information as the message reporting restriction information.

[0251] The terminal device receives message reporting restriction information from the first network device, and when the movement state of the terminal device satisfies the message reporting restriction information, the terminal device sends a movement path update indication message. The movement state may include the actual location information of the terminal device during movement or the time point when the terminal device actually arrives at a certain waypoint.

[0252] For example, the mobile path includes the time point at which the drone is expected to arrive at waypoint 1 within the coverage of base station 1, but the drone actually arrives within the coverage of base station 1, and the distance offset from waypoint 1 is 25 meters.

[0253] In an embodiment of the present application, in a CHO scenario, the first network device sends mobile path information to the second network device, which then determines whether its coverage area supports providing services to the terminal device. Based on the feedback from the second network device regarding whether it supports providing services to the terminal device, the first network device determines the target candidate network device for conditional handover, thereby avoiding sending CHO configurations and CHO handover conditions for network devices that do not support providing services to the terminal device to the terminal device, thereby reducing signaling overhead and improving communication efficiency.

[0254] It can be understood that in the above-mentioned method embodiments, the methods and operations implemented by the terminal device can also be implemented by components that can be used for the terminal device (such as chips or circuits), and the methods and operations implemented by the network device can also be implemented by components that can be used for the network device (such as chips or circuits).

[0255] In the embodiment of the present application, the terminal device or network device can be divided into functional modules according to the above method example. For example, each functional module can be divided corresponding to each function, or two or more functions can be integrated into one processing module.
